The Room Where It Happens / Take A Break
Alyssea was almost half-expecting them to not name any musicals, or plays for that matter. Theatre kids were somehow hard to come by and even more difficult back home; the theatre was really the only place to meet fellow theatre kids, hence the term.september 9th 2022; interacting with @Mahlioz Evethisawe
But then Mahlioz mentioned Hamilton and she almost lost the plot. Just over a year ago, she'd found clips of the musical on YouTube and TikTok. Then, once she found a site to watch it on, she was obsessed. Her music playlists were 70% Hamilton, 30% every other musical or pop song she already had. Even now, at Hogwarts, she would catch herself quoting the songs if it was appropriate.
Alyssea jumped and (probably) squealed. "I LOVE Hamilton! Oh my gosh, what song is your favourite? I like Non-Stop, and! And! Also like History Has Its Eyes on You! I just like the entire musical. I'm not very good at rapping, though," she went off. The adrenaline of knowing someone else enjoyed Hamilton made her forget that she probably looked crazy right now.
Alyssea took the chance to listen to Mahlioz, nodding and 'aww'ing at their picks. She glanced at the violin that had been sitting and waiting before asking, "Are you able to play any of the songs on the violin? Maybe 'That Would Be Enough'?"
“I hope she'll be a fool — that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.”

Apparently having watched Hamilton was more rare than Mahlioz had realized, because at its mention, Alyssea jumped in excitement, gushing about how much she loved Hamilton. Mahlioz smiled, glad they could find that in common. "Non Stop is really good! My favorites are - weirdly enough - the ones that make me cry," she said with a laugh. "Satisfied, Dear Theodosia, Blow Us All Away... all those."

Thoughts
Before she'd watched the actual musical, she'd listened to it on YouTube over a thousand times, and then Reltyl had shown her that there was an animatic version of it. Still now, once she'd watched the original, she preferred the animated version. It was the one that had made her cry five times in two and a half hours.
She laughed, not unkindly, when Alyssea said she wasn't very good at rapping. "I'm sure you're great, I would love to hear it..." she teased. It was rather good news that she was able to tease someone she'd only met a few minutes ago. Having the common interest that was Hamilton had probably helped.
"Uh... I could always try!" she replied to the Hufflepuff's second question. She'd never been that great at playing by ear, but she had practiced a lot last year, and she felt like she knew Hamilton well enough to be able to do it.
Picking up her violin and bow from her case, she grinned. "Don't count on me to do it flawlessly, though. Do you know what note it starts on?" Actually, it was a bit of a silly question, because she was pretty sure only people with perfect pitch knew how to figure that out, but she might as well try. "Or... what note do you want to start on?"
