The Other Girl
Cheryl sat quietly reading a book. Cheryl was a normal girl with long brown curly hair and blue-grey eyes. She was a quiet girl but she had a wild side that most people didn't see. She was shy when it came to meeting new people but once she knew this person well she would slowly reveal her true self to them. She seemed confident to others but she really wasn't that confident at all. She was lonely once more but it didn't really bother her. She was used to it by now. Cheryl continued reading her book when she realized that this time her loneliness was bothering her for some reason. She pushed the feeling of needing someone there away and tried to keep reading. But this feeling was tugging at her soul. She now wanted someone to be there with her even for a brief moment. She was confused as to why this was happening. Maybe she finally noticed that being alone all the time wasn't good for her. She didn't know what else to do so she just looked back down at the book. She tried her best to ignore the strange feeling. She just sat there pondering what this feeling was. She needed to know. It was driving her crazy not knowing what was happening.

The Other Girl
Alix walked into the great hall, notebook in hand, and gazed over the populated tables. Blowing her brown curls out of her strikingly grey eyes, she made her way towards and almost empty corner. There was only one girl sitting there so it wouldn’t be too hard to strike up a conversation. Alix observed the girl more and stopped before she got too close. The girls hair was just like hers but brown instead of black and not quiet as frizzy. She had her nose in a book and only looked around slightly never straying at a face for too long. Alix saw the girls blue eyes peek out of the book for a moment and then straight back to the captivating novel. Her heart fluttered slightly, she became more and more intrigued with the girl. She seemed so alone, but confident nonetheless. She was sitting up straight and didn’t look like she cared when anyone would look her way. Alix started walking again towards the girl, soon she was right across from where she was sitting. However the girl didn’t seem to notice Alix so she sat down quietly as to not disturb her. She then opened up her notebook and began to sketch. She drew pictures of the castle and the grounds, as well as the different teachers she had meet so far. After her last portrait of her charms teacher was finished, she sat there thinking. Looking for inspiration around the room until her eyes fell on the girl right across from her. So naturally, Alix decided to sketch the girl she was so intrigued with.

The Other Girl
Cheryl looked up from her book and saw a girl with curly brown hair and grey eyes sitting across from her. Her heart started beating faster. She looked back down at the book but then looked back up at the girl. The girl had a notebook that she was drawing in. The girl hadn't said anything to Cheryl yet. Maybe because she didn't want to disturb her reading. Cheryl smiled at the girl brightly. As she smiled, the feeling inside had gone away. The lonely feeling inside had all of a sudden disappeared because of the girl. Cheryl looked at the girl and for a brief moment, their eyes locked. "Hi I'm Cheryl Gorham. How are you?" Cheryl said softly and sweetly. Cheryl wondered what the girl was drawing. So she asked, "What are you drawing there?" Cheryl put her bookmark in place and shut her book. She put her full attention on the girl as she waited for an answer. Cheryl was slightly captivated by the girl. Cheryl didn't know why though. She studied the girl shortly and thought that the girl seemed nice even though she hadn't said anything yet. Cheryl was interested in the reason why the girl had sat here in front of her. She didn't have a problem with that but Cheryl was slightly confused since most people just looked away and sat somewhere else. Maybe this girl was different from all the other kids.

The Other Girl
Alix noticed the girl glance up at her after a few moments but decided not to engage first. She was normally quiet good at engaging in conversation but this girl for some reason made here feel a little more anxious then others. She continued to sketch her long hair, glancing up at her only moments at a time.
Suddenly the girl introduced herself as Cheryl Gorham and asked what Alix had been drawing. Taken back by the abrupt question, she stared at Cheryl not knowing what to say. With her probably looking at Cheryl now she really got a look a her delicate features.
How do you ask someone in a totally non weird fashion to paint them...oh god Alix what is wrong with you! You can’t just ask that of someone! Especially someone you don’t even know!!!
Another more irrational Alix interrupted her thoughts however...
But look at her I mean...she’s stunning! A perfect portrait! Honestly I should just ask! What’s the worst that could happen?
Alix shook her head knowing quite well that asking a question like that is one hundred percent the weirdest thing she could say at this very moment.
“H-hi. I’m Alix Thompson, nice to meet you Cheryl,” she said after a few moments, “and well I’m drawing...well...I’m sorry I-I..erhmm...started to sketch you! Sorry, it’s completely weird. You’re just so pretty and wonderful to draw!” Alix closed her hands over her mouth.
Oh Merlin! Did I just? Did I really say that...no...no...oh god I did

The Other Girl
Cheryl blushed deeply as Alix had just called her pretty. No one had ever called Cheryl pretty. Alix had been sketching her. Cheryl looked down at her book than back up at Alix. "I think you are pretty too." Cheryl quickly looked down at her book. Why did she just say that? Cheryl why did you just say that. I know it's true but why did you have to say it! Cheryl looked back up at Alix and took a deep breath. "I think that it's nice that out of all things to draw you chose to sketch me." She blushed more as she stared into Alix's eyes. Cheryl found herself lost in her eyes. Why was Alix making Cheryl feel this way? Cheryl looked back down. Something about her made Cheryl's heart flutter like never before. "If you want to, you can continue to sketch me. I'm fine with it." Cheryl gave her a warm bright smile and looked at Alix. Alix was beautiful and Cheryl couldn't help but look at her. If Cheryl knew how to draw well, she would most likely be drawing Alix. Cheryl didn't know what she should do next. She allowed herself to slowly become captivated by Alix. She felt herself getting lost in those grey eyes. Cheryl snapped back to reality and looked down embarrassed. What if Alix thought that Cheryl was weird now for starring at her. Her cheeks became hot and red. She felt herself blushing once more. Why did it feel so different to look at Alix than it did looking at other girls?

Alix didn’t know how to respond. Cheryl actually said she can continue to sketch her and called her pretty. She didn’t know how to respond, her mind racing through possible answers. However nothing would come out...
Stop being weird Alix. Just say thank you and continue to draw...be cool. Just be cool...oh Merlin don’t say something stupid please!
She coughed slightly to make it seem like her long pause was because her allergies were acting up. “Thank you...you’re pretty too!....wait I already said that didn’t i? Um drawing you is nice, your features are exquisite!”
Your features are...exquisite. Really Alix really... Alix started to rub the back of her neck in an awkward fashion. She looked around the hall at all of the other student having conversations and laughing. Knowing that talking to a girl shouldn’t be so hard she came to her senses and moved her hair from out of her face.
“That was weird...I’m sorry. Let me start over. Hi my names Alix and I think you’re pretty. Let’s have a conversation and I’ll try to not say um and stumble on my words every few sentences?” She said smiling. Her Ravenclaw wit and smart remarks have gotten her out of many awkward situations before. This time however, she wanted the conversation to continue. The way Cheryl looked at her...well it made her feel good. Her eyes looked caring and friendly. Alix wanted to get to know the other girl.

Cheryl giggled and smiled brightly at Alix. Alix had said that her features were exquisite. Cheryl nodded her head and said, "Well since we are starting over, my name is Cheryl and I think you are also pretty. It's fine if you stumble over words at times, I tend to do it also. To be honest I thought it was kinda cute how stumbled over your words though." Cheryl looked down as she felt her face start to get red. "Sorry about that and sorry for blushing so much. I usually don't blush that much."Cheryl said shyly. There was just something different about Alix that Cheryl could feel. Alix had beautiful eyes and a friendly smile that lit up Cheryl inside. She wanted to know as much as she could about Alix. Cheryl decided to start first and say something about herself."I like to make music, read books, draw, and sleep a lot. If you would like I could show you some of the songs I have made." Cheryl was in the process of making another song but she didn't have any inspiration. She wondered if Alix would let her make a song for her. Cheryl thought that she should ask to see. She didn't want to seem weird to Alix. "I was wondering if you would be okay with me making a song about you or a song for you. If you think that's weird I won't make one." Cheryl looked down at her hands and twiddled her thumbs. She looked at her book and then up at Alix and smiled softly.

Alix blushed when Cheryl returned her complement calling her pretty. She instantly covered her cheeks hoping they didn’t get way too red. Her face was extremely hot and she couldn’t stop smiling. She started blushing even more when Cheryl said she was cute for stumbling over her words. She knew she was now definitely gonna do it more and not just because Cheryl thought it was cute.
Cheryl started to tell her how she loved to listen make music, read and draw. Alix chucked when she said she also liked to sleep a lot. Alix nodded her head agreeing since she soon loved to sleep. When Cheryl asked if Alix would like if she made a song for her. Instantly Alix’s face got even hotter. She could barely even speak. Write a song for and about her? No ones ever been so thoughtful. Especially someone she just meet. It made Alix extremely happy, she didn’t know why.
“Of course! I mean- um...yes that would be really nice. That’s so thoughtful. Do you need my help? My name kind of rhymes with italics! Does that help?” Alex rambled she was so nervous. She usually wasn’t this nervous. “Sorry I’m rambling on. I’m just..a little...” Alix trailed on.
“...nervous.” Alix whispered.

Cheryl blushed and smiled at Alix as she stumbled over her words. It was so cute but she didn't know why. "It's ok to be nervous. Plus like I said, I like when you ramble and stumble when talking." Cheryl extended her hand to rest it on Alix's hand but Cheryl pulled her hand back, afraid that Alix would get up and leave if she touched her hand. She put her hands on the table. Then she pulled out her songbook and started to write. "So what type of music do you like so I can have a better idea of what to write?" Cheryl started to write down different things she liked about Alix. She wrote about her hair, eyes, smile, and kind heart that she had. She looked up at Alix and wrote a description of Alix's appearance. She was beautiful and there were so many things that Cheryl liked about her, even though she didn't know her that well. "So what made you want to sit here with me if you're ok with me asking. Oh and don't think that I am being rude. I just want to know out of curiosity. I love having you here so please don't leave." Cheryl grabbed Alix's hand and looked up at her. She quickly pulled her hand away and looked down. She blushed crazy and hid her face. "Um, sorry... about, well you know... touching your, um, hand and all."
