The stairs of Hogwarts could be destroyed tomorrow in a tragic accident and Rhys would cheer. Just the steps from the boat house up to the courtyard that eventually opened up to the area just before the Great Hall were vile. Her leg was already sore, and so was her ankle. Still, once the doors to the Great Hall opened, she forgot about that for a moment.
"Woah…"
The Great Hall certainly lived up to its name. As the first year was immediately enamored with the sky in the ceiling above. It was dark, the vaulted ceiling being visible due to the hundreds of floating candles. Their eyes widened, coming to a halt. Behind them, another first year ran into them as the girl was absolutely holding up the line at this moment. Her father hadn’t told her the Great Hall was this… great!
Then there were the largest and longest tables she had ever seen! Each had to be able to sit hundreds at least right!? Perhaps an over exaggeration, but the mind of the eleven year old was reeling with excitement. Then there was the headmaster. He wasn't no Albus Dumbledore- no Rhys had seen that historic Headmaster on her frog cards back home. Instead, this man... was massive! And he was wearing armor!? Her bright green eyes widened in surprise. Was he a knight!? The girl was so enamored by how shiny his armor was, she barely heard anything he had to say.
Then came the song. It was wonderfully fun. What came after was just fun. As Rhys stood with the other first years, waiting to be called up, their leg and ankle hurt once more. The impressively massive tables suddenly became far more interesting because they held… seats! The glorious seats where she could finally rest. Thankfully, Rhys’ name was called relatively quickly.
As she approached, a curious thought came across her mind. Where would she end up? Her dad had been a Ravenclaw, but that seemed a bit… not her speed! Well, her dad did mix up fun stuff from time to time at his shop… Hrm. Perhaps Slytherin or Gryffindor could be fun? As the girl thought of this, she sat on the stool and the wise old hat did his work.
”GRYFFINDOR!”
Rhys blinked. That had been quick! Was it always so quick? She tilted her head upward as the hat was lifted off her head. After that, she stood up and hobbled off to the Gryffindor table- far more excited about taking a seat than getting sorted to be honest. Still, she grinned widely and greeted the other Lions.
The ignorant Seer.

Mae walked into the Great Hall with all of the rest of the first years, and yet somehow she still felt separate. Alone. Even when they all crowded in the front of the hall, she still had a circle of space around her. Not that she minded. Most of the kids were rude, anyway.
One of the teachers, she didn't know which one and honestly didn't care, brought out an old battered wizard hat, which reminded her of her father, who really liked hats.
The hat began to sing. A singing hat? How ridiculous. Mae was in a terrible mood. Suppose the hat, like her classmates, decided she didn't belong? And in front of all these people, too!
After the stupid hat had stopped singing, the teacher started calling names. Fortunately, "Key" came pretty quickly. Blushing bright red under everyone's gaze, Mae sat on the stool and the hat was placed on her head.
"Hmmm, interesting..." came a voice. Mae jumped.
Where will it put me? she thought, Maybe Ravenclaw... No, no, I'm not smart enough. Hufflepuff? I'm too rude. Slytherin... I'm not ambitious! That leaves Gryffindor... But if there's anything I'm not, it's brave!
"Well, well... Very conflicted, are we? Perhaps... Hmmm, yes... You'll do better than you think in GRYFFINDOR!"
Gryffindor? Well, it is what it is... Mae had kind of been hoping for Ravenclaw or Slytherin, but Gryffindor was better than Hufflepuff.
Mae stood and walked to the Gryffindor table, sitting at the edge, away from the people. No doubt they wouldn't want her here either.

Elisa walked into the Great Hall along with the other first years, as they entered the Great Hall, Elisa looked in awe , the Great Hall was magnificent with floating candles and 4 long tables each with a certain house of Hogwarts, As all of them reached the Great hall like instructed they all lined up near a small stool, A stern looking teacher came in with a old looking hat which disgusted Elisa, the teacher placed the Hat on the stool, and it suddenly started to sing, It didn't really scare Elisa as her mother already told her about it but in some way it was both ridiculous and unique to her. After the ugly hat stopped singing, the stern-looking teacher started calling the student's name, after a good 10 minutes finally the teacher called out "Ms. Elisa Shakestra", Elisa silently went towards the small stool and sat on it while the teacher gently placed the hat on her head, It didn't even take it a minute to shout out "SLYTHERIN", the great hall was filled with claps mainly from the Slytherin table, Elisa rolled her eyes before moving towards the Slytherin table thinking that this might be the beginning of her life.

Francis has arrived at Hogwarts and is amazed with how big it looks. When he walks into the Great Hall he sees four long tables and sees another long table at the front near a stool with a hat on it. He knows that the four long tables are the house tables and knows that the table he's facing is the one for the teachers. He then looks up at the ceiling and sees the weather and flying candles and is amazed with all the magic around him. Even though he has a wizard father, he's only seen a little magic, but was told all about Hogwarts. He stops in front of the stool with all the other first years and waits his turn. When its his turn, he nervously walk over to the stool and sits down. The hat is placed on his head, and a minute later the hat exclaims,
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
Francis gets up off the stool and walks over to his house table and sits down at an empty space. He then watches the rest of the sorting and when the food appears, he's shocked with how much food there is. Once dinner was over, he followed the rest of the Hufflepuff's to the common room and was ready to make some friends at this big magical school.

Noa-Elise's mouth felt like a desert as one by one, fellow first years were called out and placed into the house they were sorted into.
The journey to Hogwarts was fun; she had a chance to chat with several students, each of them had a specific house in mind while some didn't know where they would be placed. Even her usual confidence seemed to have drained itself the closer they were to Hogwarts though.
Her mother was a Ravenclaw while her father was in Hufflepuff (though her Aunt Deirdre was still convinced that her brother belonged in Gryffindor) and while her parents assured their daughter that she just had to trust the Sorting Hat's decision, doubt clouded her mind. Her mind was still ringing with the hat's song and the attributes each House had treasured the most.
She was brought back to the present time when the Sorting Hat yelled out-
"Hufflepuff!"
The long table that seated the students under the yellow and black banner cheered as the boy walked towards them and sat on the vacant spot.
Headmaster Lear looked at the parchment and read the next name aloud.
"Forsythe, Noa-Elise!"
Her entire stomach did a somersault as she weaved through the crowd, her heartbeat echoing in her ears, and felt her palms starting to sweat. As she neared the stool, her right foot slipped for a moment, causing her to stumble. The sound of chuckles sprinkled across the room and heat bloomed on her face; it was quite unlike her to be clumsy but she quickly shrugged it off and held up her chin.
As the hat was lifted to be placed on her head, she saw the headmaster's encouraging grin before her sight was blocked by the brim of the hat.
"Now then" a voice muttered, though it came from her head rather than hearing it with her ears, "You are a curious one, aren't you? Such an inquisitive mind like this is suited for Ravenclaw"
There was a brief pause before it continued, "But you also possess a courageous front, cunningly resourceful, eager to make friends and greatly value loyalty" it mused, "But you have something that you hide, something that you keep close. The question is, which house suits you?"
'Do I get to choose?' she murmured, unsure if anyone could hear it, but the hat certainly did.
'You can, or you can let things unfold if you let go of control' it answered with a peculiar tone.
Noa-Elise felt her right foot starting to tap on the floor as she weighed the hat's words. To let things play out of her control sounded scary, but at the same time- it sounded foolishly exhilarating. And it knows the secret that she had been keeping so no doubt the Sorting Hat won't steer her wrong. After what seemed to be like hours, Noa-Elise made her choice and replied,
'I will accept your choice'
"Mmm, then you shall be in... SLYTHERIN!"
Her eyes squinted as the hat was lifted from her head, long brown hair fell to her back as she stood up from the stool with her knees slightly shaking. Taking a deep breath, she placed a large smile as she made her way towards her new peers. Slytherin students clapped and cheered as another first-year joined their ranks. Sliding to a seat next to a blond girl, Noa-Elise took several breaths to calm her still thumping heart before focusing her attention back on the rest of the Sorting Ceremony.
Soon, the adrenaline wore off and it was replaced by euphoria. She was finally sorted and while it wasn't in the same houses her parents belonged to, she was happy with the hat's choice. No doubt her parents would be happy as well. She then realized she would have to wait until tomorrow morning to send a letter to her parents with the school's owl (the first instance she regretted not getting an owl of her own) and share the news.
As another student stepped forth, she primly grabbed a goblet that was mysteriously filled with cold water; sipping it slowly with blue eyes bright with excitement as she looked forward to her upcoming days at Hogwarts.

Among the sea of first years, awaiting to be sorted, Klynn was stood at the back with a lazy expression on his face. While many would assume that he's unemotional or not taking this seriously, inside he was very anxious for what was about to happen.
On the train ride to Hogwarts, students had already avoided talking to him due to the lack of emotion present with him, but he wasn't that bothered by it. Sticking to the background, not being the centre of attention for too long, that was the aim.
While the others all got sorted into their houses, he wondered what house he'd be in. His mother and aunt were both placed into Ravenclaw, while his father was placed into Gryffindor. He never really cared which house he was placed in, as long as he could go about his day, it didn't matter to him.
The next few students in front were all sorted and he heard his name called out:
"Seacrown, Klynn"
He walked to the front of the hall and sat down, the hat being placed upon his head, and waited for the hat's decision.
"Ah, I can tell that you are one who despises being the focus of an event, while also being prideful of your accomplishments. Perhaps, one might think you would swoop in to claim glory with a team, while hiding on your own. A very straight forward one, you are, that would do well in Gryffindor..
Klynn bean to grow unsettled with how long the hat was taking. He wanted it to hurry up so he could not be focused on by the large crowd.
"While you seem a good fit for Gryffindor or Hufflepuff, you aren't courageous enough to be one, nor are you loyal enough to be the other. Intelligent, yes, but your pride over shadows that. Well, only one house fits you...
"SLYTHERIN!"
After a deep breath, he listens to the applause as he walks to his table. He sist down to be met with welcomes for joining their ranks.
Klynn retains his neutral face, but internal he feels that he may get used to Hogwarts in due time.

After waiting what seemed like a millennia out side the Great Hall doors, we were ushered in by professors and almost immediately, I had my foot stepped on. I tried to look for anyone I might recognize but all of the students around me were faced forward and though there were a few people I thought I knew, they seemed to be surrounded by others. When we were all lined up in front of the tables our headmaster, Solomon Lear, addressed us and I admit I forgot what happened afterwards because they went in alphabetical order and I was called first for the sorting hat.
"Riley Bluemount."
The Head of House, as well as all of the other students and attending staff searched around as if to find the unfortunate soul that had been called first to be sorted. I hated the eyes and partially wanted to fury at my father's family for having such a name before calmly walking forth to the stool. At which point my heart could be heard thundering within my chest as I sat fully expecting the hat to call out the words of my parents' and brother's house of Hufflepuff. The hat on my head pondered slowly it seemed before giving a great shout.
"Ravenclaw!"
Suddenly, there were cheers and flags of blue that rose up as the Ravenclaws claimed the first new student for the year. The eyes that had been silently waiting their turn for the sorting hat turned to the commotion and I used it as my chance to dash towards my new house table. There was welcomed to a seat by a group of second years that sat near the front. It was then that we awaited the next students that would be welcomed into Ravenclaw.

The Great Hall echoed with a mix of excitement and anticipation as the first-years, including Yehor Barns, gathered near the front. The enchanted ceiling mimicked the night sky, stars twinkling above like celestial witnesses to the upcoming Sorting Hat ceremony. The long tables of each house were adorned with flickering candles, casting a warm glow that danced on the stone walls.
The professor in whose hands was the hat, stepped forward, holding the timeworn Sorting Hat. Its tattered appearance seemed to conceal centuries of wisdom. The hall fell into a hushed silence as professor commenced the Sorting Hat ceremony.
As each student's name was called, they nervously approached the stool in the center of the room. Yehor, a mix of excitement and uncertainty, felt the gaze of the entire hall as he took his place on the stool. The Sorting Hat descended over his head, its interior darkness enveloping him.
In the depths of his mind, a dialogue unfolded. The Sorting Hat delved into Yehor's thoughts, contemplating the traits that defined him. The hall seemed to fade away as the Hat considered the best fit for him among Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin.
The silence stretched, building tension, until the Sorting Hat declared, "Hufflepuff!" The Hufflepuff table erupted in cheers, and Yehor, his heart filled with a mix of joy and relief, joined his newfound housemates. The sea of yellow and black embraced him warmly.
The Hufflepuff table's applause and cheers reverberated through the Great Hall as Yehor settled into his new home. The ghosts of the Fat Friar and the Grey Lady, the Hufflepuff ghosts, nodded approvingly. The feast began, and the tables were laden with a sumptuous array of magical dishes.
Yehor marveled at the enchanted ceiling, realizing that he was now part of the magical legacy of Hogwarts. The Hufflepuff common room would become his haven, and he eagerly anticipated exploring the castle's hidden wonders.
The Sorting Hat ceremony not only marked the end of his journey to Hogwarts but also the commencement of an adventure that would shape his destiny within the warm and welcoming embrace of Hufflepuff House. The friendships made, the magical lessons learned, and the challenges faced would become integral chapters in Yehor Barn's magical journey at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

This is long as hell i would like to personally apologize and make the sugestion that you do not read it.
Wren adjusted the hat on her head as she strolled out of the train, trailing behind @Willow Sorrow and the other kid who had been in her cabin. They exited the train looking around for a place to go when they heard a voice boom, "...over here! All first years this way!" so they followed the voice to a gaggle of kids, all their age. There were so many kids it was hard to tell who was speaking, even Wren with her extra height couldn't make them out, so Wren and Willow just followed the group, having lost the other kid to the crown long ago. Willow fidgeted with her robes nervously as they walked. In truth Wren full understood how she felt although she was definitely hiding it better that Willow, so she decided not to comment on as to not embarrass the girl. Glancing around Wren noticed an inscription on one of the train stops benches, Hogsmeade Station. She surmised that that must be the name of the town, and as Wren took note of her surroundings as the group walked, she seemed to be right. As the group journeyed through the small town, which seemed to be bustling with excitement (probably because of the new year at Hogwarts) she saw Hogsmeade Bakery and Hogsmeade Post Office as well as Hogsmeade Pub. When they passed through the plaza she noticed people haggling at market stalls and carrying large bags of groceries stuffed with seasonal foods. Some people stopped to smile or wave at the group, a few even coming up to them and congratulating them on their acceptance to the school. But after the plaza the amount of people around them declined and the air became colder, much to Wren's confusion. That was until they reached the lake. It. Was. Massive. It stretched for must be leagues on either side and it was wide like the gaping maw of a huge sea serpent. It was truly a sight to behold, but as in awe as she was, what really excited Wren was seeing her first glimpse of the Hogwarts castle. It was hard to make out in the low light but none-the-less it was her first time seeing the place she would know as a second home for the next 7 years and that fact filled her with giddy excitement. She turned to Willow who looked just as amazed as she did, her eyes twinkling with delight. Willow whipped her head towards and let out a borderline feral giggle, as her face broke out into a wide smile. She snatched Wrens arm, dragging Wren behind her (for the second time today) as she sprinted down the bluff to the lantern lit boats on the shore. But this time, Wren was too elated to complain about it.
The boat ride was beautiful, the moon and lantern light had refracted off the lake giving everything and ethereal glow and Willow, her and the other kids in her boat had started an impromptu water fight, but were scolded and told to stop before it could get too out of hand. Pity really. But now after walking up a frankly absurd amount of stairs, being ushered through a set of huge doors, going up more stairs, being lectured on what would happen by a lady that her and Willow could barely hear let alone see because they were in the back, waiting for the most excruciating 6 minutes of their young lives, and listening to a sickly looking old man called Solomon Lear speak, they were finally in the great hall about to be sorted into their houses. And, of course, now is when the nerves really set in, the stakes have never been higher, this is the next 7 years of their lives how can they be expected to be calm and still during this. The silence in the room in between names being called and houses being chosen was deafening. Everyone held their breath waiting for their turn and as they got closer and closer to the S-last names, even Wren was starting to fidget a bit, so you know that Willow was in full blown panic mode.
"WREN." She whisper-yelled through gritted teeth. "What if we don't get sorted into the same house?" Wren sighed half regretting not slamming the door in this girl's face when she entered her train cabin.
"We probably wont be. What will happen is, you'll go to your house table, I'll go to my house table, probably Hufflepuff and Slytherin respectively, and then we'll see each other again if we have classes together." Willow looked at her with comically wide, kicked-puppy eyes.
"What do you mean if??" She whined. Wren rolled her eyes.
"I mean, if we have classes together. We might not." Wren stated matter-of-factly. Because it was in fact, a matter of fact.
"Well- no I get that it's just..." She trailed off looking forlorn. They lapsed into silence for a moment an Wren studied the room around her, it was beautiful of course. Every time Wren though that she had seen the height of Hogwarts' wonder it out-dos itself again. She was particularly endeared by the roof bewitched to look like the night sky, it was a clever touch in her opinion. Suddenly turned back to Wren, cutting into her thoughts and saying decidedly. "I hope that you're wrong and that we both end up in Hufflepuff, because I want to be friends with you and, no offense, but those Slytherin people don't look too nice." Willow looked over Wrens shoulder at the somber Slytherins as if proving her point to herself. Wren snorted at her antics, this girl's got to be mad. But Wren has to admit, she kind of agree with her. Being her friend doesn't sound half bad to Wren, surprisingly.
"Besides you'd just do better in Hufflepuff all together, don't you think?" Willow adds. Well, Wren definitely disagrees with that, but saying that might be a bit rude, so she opts to say.
"I think we're going to end up being friends either way." She says this in a mock resigned tone, as if this is some unfortunate truth, which it kind of is. But before will can respond the room booms with the name
"WREN SNOWBELL!" Both Willow and Wren look up, then look back at each other.
"See you around Willow." Wren says with a smile and a wave.
"Yeah, see you around." Willow responds with her own smile and wave before Wren sets off pushing her way through the crowd to the front.
She arrives at the front, straightening out her robes and fixing her hair when she takes her hat off, the sickly old man (apparently headmaster Solomon Lear), smiles at her and gestures for her to sit on the stool. She places her hat next to the chair and sits on the stool wringing her hands in her lap nervously as the hat is placed on her head. Immediately as the weathered felt touches her head her mind feels strange, as if someone popped it open as whisked it's insides around a little.
"Ah, a perceptive one we've got here eh?" She hears the voice so faint she can't tell if the hat is speaking to her out loud or in her head. "Hmm, yes you're a smart one it's true and talented as well.. you've got fire in you, I can feel it!" She smiled slightly, happy to be praised for her talents. The hat chuckled lowly. "Yes, yes a fan of recognition are we? Oh but, you would be wouldn't you? Oh poor darling, it's not often you're told good things of your achievements is it?" Wren's face instantly drops and she inwardly recoils feeling her insides turn with rage over that word. "Darling~" She can't stand it, stand it? "Wren darling you could stand to work a little harder, don't want to embarrass our family do you darling? You're already so sickly and pale, if you can't be pretty you could at least be good at something, hm? You-" She forced the horrible memory back into the farthest recesses of her mind. Her ears rang from the remnants of that vomit inducing voice and in that moment, it took all of Wren's focus to keep her face neutral and not throw the hat off of her head and stomp on it. "Yes, I can see that you have been hurt, and that you wish to prove yourself, rise to greatness right? Excel. Yes of course, so obvious, I can't believe it took me this long." Wren felt a numbness come over her as the hat shouted, "SLYTHERIN!" and the Slytherin table erupted in cheers and applause. With a blank look on her face she slid off the stool and grabbed her hat, pulling it securely onto her head. She wasn't sad, no of course not. It we be unbecoming of a young lady such as herself. Sadness is a far too sporadic emotion.

Sorting Ceremony
Willow felt her palms sweat as she stood in the Great Hall with all the other first years. She had never been so nervous- not that she really had any reason to be nervous, it was as simple as pulling on a hat- but this was a huge event. The house she was put in would determine what the seven years she was at Hogwarts would be like.
She had a pretty good idea of which house she would belong too- she certainly wasn't brave or ambitious. A Hufflepuff or a Ravenclaw would be her guess, though she couldn't help but be partial to the latter. As the first few students were sorted, Willow tried to focus her breathing and calm herself down. Relax. It'll all be over soon. She told herself.
"Byrne, Willow!" Called the professor next to the Sorting Hat. Willow was shaking slightly as she made her way up the steps. She could practically feel the judging eyes of the entire school on her as she sat on the stool and placed the hat on her head.
"Ahh, Miss Byrne... A considerable amount of compassion, very creative... yes, you've got the makings of a great student..." Willow scrunched her eyes shut, blocking out the crowd. "Kind, a hard worker... Hufflepuff would suit you well..." the Sorting Hat paused, seemingly thinking hard. "But oh, such intelligence... a vivid imagination... yes, yes, better be..." The pause was momentary, but it felt like eons to Willow-
"RAVENCLAW!"
At the hat's shout the entire Ravenclaw table, a sea of blue-clad students beneath a huge banner bearing an eagle, erupted into cheers. Wow, Willow thought, happy and relieved. That wasn't so bad, now was it? A Ravenclaw- that was what she had been hoping for! Wobbling slightly, but smiling all the same, Willow trotted down to the table of her new home.

I've lived a thousand lives and I've loved a thousand loves. I've walked on distant worlds and seen the end of time- because I read.
