Elodie was exhausted, to say the least. Being thrown into a life of magic had shaken her almost as much as it excited her, and she often felt anxiety tug at her chest whenever the thought arose. Sometimes, she wondered if she was insane, but had shoved those thoughts away in favor of diving into her studies, which was what she was doing now. The girl sat at a table, her ankles crossed as she mulled over the book that lay open in front of her, occasionally scribbling notes onto a piece of parchment as she scanned the pages, as if simply staring at the words would force them to reveal their secrets to her.

She was reading Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and was deeply immersed in the figures and descriptions that made up the contents of the book. Ever since discovering that magical creatures such as hippogriffs and unicorns existed, Elodie had decided that she would devote her life to the studying and protection of these creatures. Growing up in a muggle home made every aspect of magic absolutely entrancing, but this was what she truly wanted. After all, she had always been an animal lover.

So she sat. Elodie was unsure of how long she spent in that chair, mulling over countless pages and discovering the secrets of creature after creature. All she was aware of was the soft rustle when she turned the page and a quiet ticking sound that came from a small clock in the corner of the room. This was what she was truly meant to do, where she truly belonged.

"But that's just the trouble with me. I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it."
