Oh really? I respectfully disagree, without Salazar Slytherin there wouldn’t have been a Hogwarts, Merlin did a lot of things, and as dumb Voldemort’s mistakes were and as much as many people hate him he is still considered more powerful than Grindelwald,” Jay started, “Just because the most know and successful wizards from Slytherin are labeled ‘evil’ doesn’t mean that they weren’t great and powerful,” Jay said, seriously. Does every single person who thinks the same thing as this kid forget about Merlin? Then as he mentioned Severus Snape Jay got even more frustrated, they had read many books about him and he seemed great to them! “Excuse me but I remember that he in fact— managed to play both sides of two very powerful wizards, I’d say that is quite impressive. I certainly don’t see it as disgusting.”

As much as jay wished that they weren’t in Griffindor they had to deal with it and be proud of it, “I am quite proud of being in griffindor but I don’t see why boast about that just because of Harry Potter, I mean... He for sure did have friends who did a lot of the work and he probably just did whatever they told him to succeed,” Jay added, bloody hell, Jay had so many things to say about the topic, and Jay was so close to exploding.

Tremaine was always up for a good debate, and he gave Jay a determined smile. "Salazar Slytherin may have been a founder of Hogwarts, but without him there also would have been no Chamber of Secrets, no muggle-born school killings, and no basilisk in the school. Merlin was a good man, and I have no idea why he was in Slytherin. Perhaps the hat was mistaken. Some other choices it made in choosing houses were rather questionable." Okay, now, he probably shouldn't be insulting the Sorting Hat, but it was just a friendly little debate with a dash of venom thrown in, nothing really serious.

Flinching again as Jay used the name of the Dark Lord, Tremaine continued, "You-Know-Who was not great, he was terrible. And I have no particular affection for Grindelwald, either. Both are despicable beings. I'm not sure what you think 'great' means. I was referring to 'great' as in people who have had a major positive impact on the wizarding world. While playing two sides of a great war is no doubt impressive, that doesn't make Snape a great person. Or even a good person."

Tremaine paused for a breather, but stopped short when Jay mentioned that they were in Gryffindor. Wait, what? Gryffindor? Them? But they had Slytherin written all over them. No, no, they were trying to to mess with Tremaine's head. He simply scoffed and went on to rebut the next statement. "Of course Potter got help from his friends. It's one of his strengths. But in the end it was him, and him alone, who saved the wizarding world." Okay, now he was laying it on a bit thick. But his grandmother had an immense respect for Harry Potter, and he wouldn't let her down.

With a heavy heart, Alexa sat down at the Gryffindor table. She sighed at stared down at her plate. No one spoke to her, they were too imersed in the Sorting. Very well. She didn't care. One girl got chosen for Ravenclaw. Alexa glared at her jealously. The next kid got Hufflepuff, which made her feel better. At least I didn't get Hufflepuff, she reminded herself. Alexa thought back to the girl she had seen in Diagon Alley, shoping for school stuff. Hannah Softwind, she remembered, craning her neck in vain. She coundn't see Hannah.

Back in Diagon Alley, they had met in the book store, were they had bonded over a love of reading. Hannah reminded herself to send an owl to her maybe-friend. She really needed one. Would it be hard to be friends with someone in a different house? If she gets Ravenclaw, will I be too hostile to reach out to her?

Then Alexa remembered- it was sorta stuipid to send an owl to someone in the same building, so she could only hope to meet up. Lost in thought, Alexa jolted upright when food appeared on the plates. She dug in hungrily. Suddenly, someone said "Hey! What's your name?"

"Huh?" Alexa asked, scanning around, trying to figure out who was speaking.

Entering the Great Hall Lily began striding down the space between the Slytherin and Griffindor tables, and soon spotted Jay sitting at the end of the table talking to a boy near them. Picking up her speed she headed toward them. Lily came to a stop as she peered over Jay’s shoulder to look at her plate, which was covered with food. Sliding into the spot empty to their left she grabbed a plate and a roll covered in butter. Lily wasn’t really all that hungry, she just wanted to sit at the table and talk if anything. Giving a little wave to Jane, Lily stared down at her plate and slowly started tearing pieces of the roll up and putting them into her mouth. Once she was done with her small buttered roll she listened into Jay and the boy’s conversation. It definitely wasn’t a conversation Lily would we intrested in joining but it definitely was an intresting one.
“ Helly Jay, How was today’s classes?”Lily asked Jay in a quite voice. Lily didn’t expect them to answer so she grabbed another roll and started at it once again. Lily had only eaten the rolls and sausage, but she could say this was the best food she had ever had.

Fine Great has multiple meaning, and he was sure terrible but also great. Not in a nice way but surely in the ‘powerful’ type of great, I pretty sure I got an A+ in English and grammar,” Jay said defensively, just then their fellow friend came in just before Jay was about to mention some rude words, and that stopped them. “Today’s classes were boring, but please Gray, can you give me some support in this conversation?” Jay said slightly annoyed and at the same time thankful that their fellow friend cut in.

Also, I will correct you on that. Just because someone is in slytherin does not mean that they are automatically evil. In the sorting hat song he never mentioned the word evil, the traits of a slytherin are; ambitious, cunning, strong leaders, and quite shrewd, and yes- some very known slytherins are evil,” Jay continued, they took a deep breath and started to speak once more with determination and stubbornness, “I bet there are probably more than a hundred slytherins working at the Ministry of Magic and doing good things— oh. So tell me, you think that the head of slytherin is evil? You’re telling me that all of the Professors in slytherin are evil? Ha, please do continue to list your useless evidence,” Jay said, they felt like their points were quite strong, but they felt like they could of done much better.

Jay chuckled for a moment, “Hah, a griffindor defending the slytherins...” they muttered, it was kind of funny to them. Especially since slytheirns and griffindors were known to not like each other too much over the past years. “Isn’t that kind of funny, Gray?

"Gryffindor!"
Rose heard the applause come from the far table, and plastered on a big smile as she went to go sit with her new house. As she sat down, she glanced momentarily at another table, one where students dressed in blue and were titled "the wise". Every since her father had told her about the four houses of Hogwarts, Rose had always longed to be in Ravenclaw. She practiced riddles and deep philosophical questions to help her prepare to answer the eagle door knocker, and she had read more books than ever. Her father had even taken to calling her his "little Ravenclaw".

"Gryffindor", she quietly mused to herself. It wasn't a bad house in all fairness.
Besides, she thought, it's not like I can't still have friends in Ravenclaw, or not still have my bookish ways. The more she thought about it, the more proud of being a Gryffindor she became. Not all smart witches and wizards came from Ravenclaw, some of the extraordinary ones did come from Gryffindor, she thought. Becoming more and more excited, her smile grew until it was beaming, the smile of a true Gryffindor. Then she began to eat her food, all the while thinking of how she wanted to return to the books in her dorm.

Ivy was absolutely ecstatic to be in Gryffindor, and her cheeks hurt from grinning so hard. Red was her second favorite color, second to yellow because it was such a bright and happy color, while red was more intense and fearless, like how Ivy felt. That didn't mean that she was sorry she didn't get into Hufflepuff, no, she was feeling extremely proud of getting into the House of the great and mighty lions.

She high-fived people as she went down the table, puffing out her chest a little to show off her new red crest. She felt so accepted and hyped, she nearly tripped over her robes as she went to quickly slide into a free seat. Ivy drummed her fingers on the table, her eyes flicking from one person to the next, she felt like a buzzing bee trying to collect as much honey as possible. I'm so, so excited, yes! Gryffindor, Gryffindor, GRYFFINDOR!!! Whoo-oo! I totally love red, wow, this place is so big, I'm definitely gonna get lost in hereeeeee!

Phew, Ivy let out a huge mental breath, which didn't do anything to her high energy level on the outside. But she was use to it, since she had always been like this for years. Ivy looked around, listening as other kids got their House's called. Everyone looked interesting, she wanted to know everyone and make friends, besides just do boring homework.

The food on the table was so enticing that she gladly helped herself to some, mostly the chicken wings, potatoes, and breadsticks. Chomping away, and barely minding her manners, Ivy's attention was caught by a girl who was smiling almost as hard she had been. She wondered if the girl was as happy as her to be in Gryffindor, or Hogwarts in general. The school year was starting off great so far, Ivy figured that she could make it even better by making a new friend.

"Er, hullo! I'm Ivy," she shouted over the applause as another student was sorted. Then more quietly she continued, "I'm Ivy. What do you think about being in Gryffindor? I'm really glad 'cause my mom was in Gryffindor, too."

As lily starting munching away at her roll she cought sight of a pare of curious eyes watching from the Ravenclaw Table. What a bold little thing to just stare for so long, and on top of that She had already spotted the Ravenclaw looking and they had Just seemed to refuse to look away.“Isn’t that kind of funny, Gray?” Averting her gaze away from the staring eyes, Lily found herself in a tough spot. What was Jay talking about, and what in the seven dementions is so funny. Displaying a blank stare Lily began to ponder on how she could respond to them. Once she started to catch up on things Lily swiftly changed her expression. Lily could almost imagine the heat travel from her ears to her cheeks, and the flicker of laughter in her eyes as she placed a hand over her “smile”.
“Griffindors helping Slytherins?” Lily didn’t understand a hundred percent of what Jay meant all the time but she attempted to. Finishing her roll of bread, Lily set her head on her right hand and gave Jay a curious look. Lily wasn’t really a hundred percent ok with Jay speaking with this boy, they were taking to much of Jay’s attention away from Lily. She didn’t like sharing things, one of the many things Lily didn’t like sharing was attention, especially Lily Grays’s new friend Jane’s attention.

Rose saw a girl sit down in a seat across from her, but didn't think too much of it until the girl looked right at her and asked her if she liked being in Gryffindor. Rose was caught off-guard, but quickly responded,
"Well, honestly I was a bit disappointed that I didn't get into Ravenclaw. But Gryffindor is a really amazing house too so I'm quite happy with it. It's really cool that your mother got into Gryffindor. Did your father go to Hogwarts, or was it just your mother?"
Rose asked as she took another bite of her food. She carefully studied the other Gryffindor. She seemed quite energetic, no doubt about that, and her smile seemed to make her seem like the happiest person in the world to be sorted into Gryffindor. As Rose chewed she realized she forgot to say something, so she quickly swallowed and cleared her throat.
"Oh sorry, I'm Rose Sherwin. My father and grandmother were Hufflepuffs, but I'm kind of happy that I didn't get sorted into that house." Rose tried to give a quick smile and hoped the girl didn't question as to why she didn't want to be sorted into the nicest, most hardworking house out of the four. Rose then took a sip from her cup as she waited for the girls response.

Are you even listening? Jay mentally said to Gray. “Nevermind Gray, let’s talk about something else shall we?” Jay then said rolling their eyes and fully turning themself towards Lily. They pushed their half eaten pie away from them and took out a book from her bag- it was the one Gray gave to them for Christmas. “I managed to finish the book and it was great! I’m already re-reading it,” they commented then flipping to a page with a picture of a Chinese Fireball, “Doesn’t that dragon look cool?” Jay asked, they were so amazed by how the Chinese fireball looked like. The dragon was so red and pretty... Red was their second favorite colour besides green after all, so sof course they would like the Chinese fireball. But what jay really wanted was a Hungarian Horntail, since it’s the most dangerous dragon it was automatically on their “want” list. They then wondered which dragon Gray liked the most, perhaps a Ukrainian ironbelly, or maybe even a Norwegian Ridgeback!

Wanna go somewhere else, Gray? I’m kind of tired of the sound of people eating,” Jay finally said, they then got up from the table and gestured Lily Gray to follow them.
