Book It To the Library

Soon to meet @Juliana Allen
5 November 2023.
He had completed his Sunday Morning Reverence earlier that morning and into the afternoon later with AngelFyre as he did all Sundays. It was nice to be able to find a way to still carry on his journey of knowledge despite being without a church as it was something very important to him. But now as Sunday had turned into evening, he would turn his attention to his studies.
There was a History of Magic essay to complete and then he wanted to gather up a couple books for the week on some of his favorite topics - whether that be vampires, dhampirs, or magical medicine.
It was his essay that took most of his time and unfortunately most of his attention as well. With each word that he scripted along his parchment, the little gray rat that had rested in his attached pocket to his enchanted satchel stirred more and more. He wasn't getting annoyed, but rather itching to explore.
Simon was at the end of his essay, just finishing up his last few paragraphs when the rat popped his head up first, giving it all but two seconds before he darted out. Even his owner's dhampir reflexes couldn't see him bound onto the Library shelf, utilizing his Ratman stealthy speed.
It would be seven more minutes until Simon finished his essay and as he began to read it over, he'd hear a gentle THUD in the distance now and then. The first two times he figured that it was someone who accidentally had dropped their book and paid no attention to it, but by about the fifth he lowered his paper and looked up.
"Sounds like one of your signature moves there, mate," he said as he stretched open the crocheted side pocket to check on his gray rat only to discover that the pocket was empty. "...Probably is one of your signature moves..." he now muttered to himself.
Ah, Hide and Seek - one of Rascal's favorite games to play. Simon? Not so much. At least, not when he was causing distraction in the Library.
"Rascal?!" he tried to call out in a sharp whisper.
It was a Sunday evening. There would be many other students there trying to complete their last minute assignments and they didn't need to be bothered by this.

Book It To the Library
Nothing from the Muggle world could have prepared Juliana for Hogwarts' way of studying, or living in general. She had always put trust into books and assumed that they would ease her inconvenient journey in the magical world and assist her when trying to comprehend how and what to do when finding herself in any situation. In this case - picking books at the Hogwarts Library.
Juliana: Example Thoughts: Example Others: Example
The amount of names, genres and fields made Juliana's head whirl just at the mere sight of bookshelves stacked to the rim with thick tomes of books, encyclopedias and other interesting publications. She felt the substantial weight of insufferable responsibility lay on her torso - essay this, assignment that, it was simply too overwhelming, even for Juliana, who had dealt with such things on daily basis.
Expectantly awaiting the moment of miracle landing from heaven into palm of her hand, the young witch sauntered down the quiet aisles of monstrous shelves that reached the ceiling. Every now and then, a random book would catch her attention, but only for a mere second, until she got back to desperate hunt for books belonging to Transfiguration and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Oh how speedily the impatience blossomed within Juliana each moment.
If it was possible, she would leave and wouldn't return till morning. Her father always used to say - never solve problems when upset and in her opinion, he knew the best. Lawyers are people who deal with such things daily, don't they? At least that's what she was told since day one by her parents.
Juliana was definitely close to finding her desired books, she sensed it. It would finally end her agony and maybe, it would even enlighten her mood. Why is it so difficult to find? Maybe I should have asked someone, it would have spared me this nonsense. Mentally slapping herself, Juliana flinched at the unexpected sound that resonated from the unknown.
She would lie to herself saying it didn't scare her. With a high hope that whatever it was, wouldn't include her, Juliana's focus darted back to books and with unpleasant feeling within her, she nervously glanced around, scanning the surroundings. It could be a ghost, right? There are many of them at Hogwarts. Of course, it's a ghost, nothing else. Juliana fooled herself into thinking it was just a ghost, unfortunately, it didn't let her at ease, since there was a sharp whisper coming out from the distance.
"Rascal?!"

Book It To the Library

Asking a question to @Juliana Allen
Dhampirs had better eyesight, at least in low-lit situations than that of humans, but not so much better hearing. Luckily for him, he didn't need it, as the dropping of the books began again and was giving clear indication of the rat's location. Guess he could be pretty smart for a rat but he still had a very small brain and didn't premeditate his plan, nearly only was causing chaos because he was the little annoying rat that he was - at times. Other times he could be chill. This wasn't one of them.
"Seriously, man. Now isn't the time. It isn't the place," Simon said as he saw one of the students shoot a look over to him, annoyed that their studying was being disrupted. "Come back over here, now!"
The rat never did listen to him very much. That had always been the way. Rascal had once previously been owned by another Hufflepuff named Alexa MacKenzie who was one of Simon's best friends. She had happily chosen him and that little gray rat loved that red headed girl. She took amazing care of him, even saving him from a fatal car accident which sadly claimed her and her father. That's how Simon came to know rat ownership. He took on the responsibility and care for Rascal for the best friend, knowing that she would have wanted Rascal well looked after. He tried his best.
"If you keep going that way, you'll head into the Magical Creature section. The last time you were there one of the books growled at you and you didn't like that. Do you remember that, mate? Best to stop now." He sighed. It's not like the rat would most likely listen to him.
It got quiet again.
Simon paused, trying to gauge where the rodent might be. Obviously he was high up on the top of the shelves, but which shelves exactly? He saw a girl near him and decided he'd try his luck and see if she had seen him. "Pardon. Have you seen a grey rat anywhere around here? I've lost my pet and he's being a terrorizing menace. My apologies."
