Dear Angela,

It's hard to believe it's November already; the school year's gone by so fast! I miss you tons, wish there was an easy way for you to visit. The midges stayed pretty late here in the Highlands, since it's been an unusually warm month. I'm glad they're finally gone, as they keep eating me alive whenever I visit the lake. If there's a magical version of bug repellent, I haven't found it yet, so I've been making do with tea tree oil.

How's St. Mary's? Are the nuns there particularly scary or strict? Some of my professors are pretty strict, especially with homework requirements. So much homework, too! My hand is sore from hours and hours of writing, and these damn quill pens make it impossible to erase any mistakes I've made. What's your favorite class this year?

By the way, we have a pretty incredible loch up here, the Great Lake. It has merfolk in it, too! I still haven't seen one, though, but it's fun to sit by the lake before class and write stories about them. I've been able to do tons of sketching in my spare time. I drew a picture of a dragon over the loch recently; it's posted above my bed. Unfortunately, I still haven't seen any dragons on the castle grounds (yet). I've heard rumours, though, that there's a dragon in the wizard bank--Green Grapes or something like that. The bank name, not the dragon. I'm still getting used to what everything's called in the magical world.

Happy belated birthday, by the way! I attached a drawing of my train ride to Hogwarts below as a present. It's mostly trees, but I hope you like it nonetheless.

Give Aunty Rose and Aunt Diana lots of hugs and kisses for me. And please visit for Christmas! I'm not sure when we'll be able to swing by London; we've been a bit short on quid to do any real travelling on holiday. Mam's thinking of studying to become a nurse for the pay bump, although things are weird with the NHS right now per Callum. Speaking of Callum, the twins just had their fifth birthday recently. I sent them a box of sweets. Sorry I didn't buy any for you!
