I walked out of the castle onto the grassy grounds of Hogwarts. I sometimes go on walks after dinner to calm down after an exciting day before I go to bed. Nothing like going out on a walk with a full stomach after an exciting day of magic classes. The weather also wasn’t that hot anymore. To be honest it was relatively cool after the sun sets. I looked west and saw the sun setting over the quidditch pitch. I had never seen a quidditch game before but I’ve overheard the other students say it was one of the most exciting sports ever. I see the Great Lake to the south. Its murky green waters rippling in the sunset.
I continue down the narrow path leading down to the forbidden forest and the Hogwarts campgrounds. I turned away from the forbidding forest. There is no way I am going in there or even getting close to it. I heard that there were centaurs, werewolves and a bunch of other stuff in there. It was getting more dark now and getting harder to see. I better start getting back now before it’s too late. I groped around in the dark and touched something. It was moving!

Fangs in the Darkness

Coming upon @Alejandro Garcia
Simon hadn't much appetite for dinner as usual (or much human food for that matter), but he still did go to the Great Hall and have a seat at most mealtimes for the socialization and the friendship. It was a chance to see all his friends in different houses and different years that he didn't share classes with, as well as spend some additional time with his girlfriend.
It was when he was packing up his bag that he realized he had left his sweatshirt at broom racing practice previously that day and so he bid early farewells to his friends from the Great Hall and ventured out on the grounds and to the outdoor club area. He retrieved his sweatshirt and placed it within his enchanted satchel but that night's fiery sunset over the Scottish Highlands captured his attention and he remained out there to watch it fade into the dark of night. With Autumn nearly upon them, the nights were growing longer and coming earlier. That, and a storm seemed to be approaching, causing it to seem much darker for that particular evening.
On his venture back toward Hogwarts, Simon could see a fellow student. Maybe others would have also picked up on his figure but it was easily done with Simon's dhampir eyes with pupils that enlarged in such low lighting. He walked toward him with the intent of asking if he was planning to head inside as there was a strict curfew for students.
"Hello," Simon said as he approached, but it was just as a bit of thunder could be heard rolling in the distance. He didn't realize that it probably drowned out his voice and therefore the other student hadn't heard.
By the time Simon reached his side, he had reached out and tapped his shoulder and seemed startled. "Hey, it's okay. It's just me - friendly, helpful, Hufflepuff prefect," Simon smiled.
A smile that showed his somewhat pointier two teeth than most and he stood there with those wide pupiled eyes - that is, if he could be seen by the Gryffindor in the low lit situation of the darkened sky.

It then began talking.
"Hey, it's okay. It's just me - friendly, helpful, Hufflepuff prefect,"
Great, a prefect is just what I need to get back to the castle. In the darkness I couldn't really make his or her face, but as it smiled I saw razor-sharp fang among pearly white teeth. There really only two reasons; one this person in front of me is a vampire or two this person just have really sharp canine teeth. Come on, it's the magical world, you never know. I believe it is the first one. I started hallucinating. I wanted to run but my feet couldn't move.
I'm about to get eaten alive by a vampire. Moonlight momentarily shined on it's face and I could see that it was a very handsome boy with short dark hair. Huh, maybe I saw it wrong and he just had particularly sharp canine teeth instead. I look up and see his eyes. It was wide pupiled eyes much larger than a normal person's eyes. My heart started racing and I can hear it thumping in my chest like a kettledrum. I feel like I can die of fear. My trembling legs are stuck to the floor.
"Please don't eat me."
I closed my eyes waiting for it to come.

Fangs in the Darkness

Trying to reassure @Alejandro Garcia
The boy seemed terrified and he wasn't sure if it was the darkness or the incoming storm. His friend Henry back in London had been very afraid of storms. Lightning had once struck the back of his home, causing a fire - and while everyone was okay in the end, it did result in a rather lengthy hospital stay for his father. Simon understood why Henry was afraid and hopefully in time he'd get past that.
Maybe this boy had a similar story.
Then Simon heard his words and grew confused. Had he heard him correctly?
"Please don't....what now?" Eat him? What in Merlin's name was he talking about?
Perhaps Simon had just startled him. The sky was quickly growing even darker and there were night animals within the Scottish Highlands, ready to spend their wakefulness to the world. There were bats and some owls and pine martens. It was even reported by some that they had seen a Scottish Wildcat that liked to roam in the night time. That was all excluding what magical creatures were in the Forbidden Forest nearby.
Simon watched the boy and it wasn't until he blinked that he internalized it a bit. His eyes. Ah, that lovely little dhampir trait of his with very, very large dilated pupils. Lovely.
"I prefer steak. Never ate a fellow classmate and never shall, mate. You're safe. I promise," and he hoped that the boy would believe him and begin to walk back to the castle with him, instead of running. It was getting far too late and that storm was rolling in far too quickly to be running around the Grounds. Simon would have to chase him and that would make this look all the worse.

Shouldn't monsters not be able to get into Hogwarts? I don't that is true because there is a vampire standing I began to walk back to the school but my footsteps became quicker and quicker until I started to run. It was probably a stupid decision but what was I supposed to do when a guy with pointy teeth and unusual eyes found me in the night in the middle of nowhere. Even though he had said that he never ate a classmate before and that I was safe, I still didn't trust his pointy teeth. Vampires can be deceiving. Then came stupid decision number 2, I sprinted away from the castle. Pretty stupid. The good thing was that hopefully I had shaken that vampire off. At least it can't get any worse.
A few moments later, it got worse. As I was running it started to rain. Perhaps I didn't notice the thunder and the dark clouds hovering in the sky earlier or perhaps I was too focused on that vampire. I was not prepared for rain. It was as if mother earth was against me. It was so dark that I couldn't see a thing. I couldn't see where the vampire was and I couldn't see where the castle was. I didn't know which direction I was going in. The only gear I knew was going away from him. I didn't dare look back.

Fangs in the Darkness

Running down @Alejandro Garcia
The boy took off again and Simon didn't even consult his mechanical watch resting on his wrist to know that curfew was either near or past - the darkening sky said much. The very fact that this boy thought that he was there to eat him was fact alone that first years didn't need to be out and about this close to bedtime when their imaginations ran rampant.
Knowing that it would only seem as if he was chasing the boy, the Gryffindor left him with no choice. As a prefect, he couldn't just head back in and let a fellow student wander the grounds and forget about the importance of curfew and as a fellow student who cared about the others at Hogwarts, Simon couldn't let him possibly get into any trouble or come to harm. So off he took.
Dhampirs did not only have pupils that dilated widely in low light situations, have some fangs (although Simon never let his fully contract, although they were quite pointy), they also had increased strength, quick reflexes, and were fast. Alejandro Garcia was about to see that last point play out right there. He might have gotten a head start, but it wasn't long before Simon was right behind him.
"If you don't stop, I'm going to have to physically help you stop and I don't want that to happen. But you desperately NEED to stop running. Please. You're headed toward the Forbidden Forest." He wouldn't let the boy enter. He'd grab him before that happened, even tackling him to the ground if that was necessary.

I had lost him, at least I thought. I had gotten a pretty big head start and I wasn't really considered a slow runner. It wasn't until that he was right behind me that I saw him. How'd he catch up so fast? Sure the was boy was taller and much bigger than me but the time it took for him to catch up was extraordinary. I let out a girlish high pitched scream and continued sprinting.
"If you don't stop, I'm going to have to physically help you stop and I don't want that to happen. But you desperately NEED to stop running. Please. You're headed toward the Forbidden Forest." he shouted behind me.
That made me hesitate for a moment, the Forbidden Forest was not a fun place to be at night the Headmaster had said. I was trapped between a vampire and a scary forest. There were two options in front of me. One, take my chances and run into the Forbidden Forest. Two, stop and deal with the vampire or whatever the hell the thing behind me is. I could try and cast a spell with my wand if only my wand was actually here and not in my dorm. The thought of my wand gave me a small idea. I turned around and stared at him. I picked up a wooden stick and waved it around a bit like a wand. Hopefully he'll get scared and run away. In the end I just threw the stick at him. It bounced off harmlessly. I closed my eyes waiting for it to come.WC:266/200 @Simon Kincaid

Fangs in the Darkness

Attempting to 'capture' @Alejandro Garcia
Simon kept up with him as he continued toward the Forest. He was not going to allow the boy to go inside - there were far too many risks. Being a dhampir, Simon might be stronger and with faster reflexes than that of a human, and his eyes might allow him to see better in these now low-lit conditions, but he wasn't about to fight off creatures that were known to lurk that area. That wasn't fear talking - that was just plain common sense.
He stopped running when the boy did because he didn't want to spook him and send him darting into the trees. And then Simon watched as he picked up a stick from the ground and started waving it. Did he think he was a forest critter like a squirrel or racoon that he'd scare off?
Simon sighed, not wanting to resort to this but the boy had truly given him no choice. He was NOT going to have him enter the Forbidden Forest and they were already too far away from the grounds with the sky darkening every moment. Things had happened before and he wasn't going to let this boy be in danger. Simon brought out his wand quickly from the pocket of his cloak and waved it in the perfect motion as he said, "Immobulus!" clearly.
Simon sighed, hating to have to freeze the boy like that. "My name is Simon Kincaid. I'm a Fourth Year here at Hogwarts, in the Hufflepuff house. I'm a prefect and I'm part of the healing internship with the Hospital Wing and I'm a broom racer. And yes," he paused, - this was still something a little difficult to bring up as this was the first year he was officially out with it, "....I'm a dhampir. I'm half wizard, my mum was a former student here in the Gryffindor house, and I'm half vampire, unfortunately. But I don't attack anyone - especially potential friends, and the only time I consume blood is a small amount that is deemed necessary by the Ministry and they distribute it."
He probably shouldn't have brought up about blood.
"Please. Please....just, let me help escort you back to the castle. I mean absolute no harm and only want to help. It's all I've ever wanted in any situation." He had slipped his wand back into his cloak and was walking slowly toward the boy with his hands held out, almost as if it were a crime show and he had dropped his weapon and was showing that he meant no harm and remained like this the entire time he came closer. He didn't want to scare the boy, even if the boy couldn't move at all to dart off.
"So I'll introduce myself once more. Simon. Simon Kincaid, Fourth Year Hufflepuff, prefect, and only here to help."
When he got back next to him. Simon took his wand out again, but slowly this time and lifted the Immobulus charm so that the boy could move again.
Slipping his wand back into the pocket, he extended out his hand to the boy, hoping that he'd shake his hand and perhaps make introductions in return.

"Immobulus!" yelled a voice clearly
Shit
Sure enough, with a cry, I fell to the ground unable to move. Immobilized. The vampire then started a long rant.
"My name is Simon Kincaid. I'm a Fourth Year here at Hogwarts, in the Hufflepuff house. I'm a prefect and I'm part of the healing internship with the Hospital Wing and I'm a broom racer. He probably shouldn't have brought up about blood. In my opinion a vampire was someone who drank blood and even if you intentionally drink the slightest of blood then you're a vampire. Was I a bit extreme? Yes, but this is the magical world we're talking, you can never be too careful in a world where trolls, werewolves and goblins exist.
I looked on in horror as he slowly walked towards me with his arms out and without his wand? If he wanted to suck my blood then he would have done it already. Why waste so much time coming up with a dumb excuse and put away his wand. Maybe he actually was here to help.
"Please. Please....just, let me help escort you back to the castle. I mean absolute no harm and only want to help. It's all I've ever wanted in any situation." he explained.
Wait, if he had a wand then he must be a student.
"So I'll introduce myself once more. Simon. Simon Kincaid, Fourth Year Hufflepuff, prefect, and only here to help." continued Simon.
He took out his wand again and slowly lifted the Immobulus charm. I wiggled my body to make sure nothing was broken and to confirm I could move again. I stood up. I carefully reached for his outstretched afraid he was gonna bite me and shook on it.
"W-why a-are you a va-vampire and are y-you the only one in the ca-castle?" I stuttered to Simon.WC: 365/200 Tags: @Simon Kincaid

Fangs in the Darkness

Needing @Alejandro Garcia to head back toward the Castle
"I'm not a vampire!" he said defensively and paused a moment to think why that was so. He had met a total of four vampires now and, well, he'd rather stick to his human counterparts or lean on his half-human genetics than be compared to them for some reason. "I'm a dhampir. My father is a vampire and my mother was a human, a witch. She attended Hogwarts," he explained, hoping that might help.
"There's no vampires here at Hogwarts. There's a few other dhampirs but not many and we're students like yourself - here to learn, here to make friends. If we were a threat, we wouldn't be here." And it was now that Simon stepped back from the boy.
This boy was so concerned about Simon harming him, or possibly harming him, but it wasn't needed. Now though, it was Simon himself that was starting to realize that the students that had such viewpoints on dhampirs, and perhaps other halfbreeds that went to Hogwarts, were harmful. It was a narrow minded way of looking at the world that halfbreeds were violent or "less human" and deserving of education. Maybe he was this boy's first encounter with them and he could change his mind. Simon surely hoped so. But if not, if this boy would hold onto such beliefs, it was he himself who should keep his distance.
"I can answer any other questions you have or we can walk in silence, but I must escort you back to the castle. It is late and you need to get back to your Common Room."
