Like You Never Did
Sylvie found the concept of his aunt quite strange. How she was only nice to him because he was the family heir. "No offense, but it's stupid that your aunt would treat you different than your other siblings just because you're the heir." She said, in a slightly stern tone. "I just- don't like inequality like that. It can be very annoying at times., You said it's not completely your aunt's fault though.. how come?" Sylvie believed everyone had a choice in life. You can choose to be a good or bad person, with a couple of exceptions, but it didn't seem like any of those exceptions applied to Lucian's aunt.
Sylvie had a bit of an anxiety attack, but it was far better then many others she'd experienced. She hadn't meant to ramble about her sister. She wondered if it had made Lucien feel bad or something worse! Sylvie dug her nails into her arm, which is something she did when she was doing something she didn't want herself to do, such as start panicking. She found that causing temporary pain to herself was the best way to make herself calm again. It looked strange to others, but it worked. She took a deep breath and looked back at Lucien.
"You don't seem that anti-social to me, but what would I know? We just met." She giggled, thinking about what he'd said about his family. They seemed normal enough, but she knew that wasn't the case by the way Lucien spoke of them. You don't just call your twin sister torture to live with and say your little brother isn't sane. Those weren't normal things to say about your siblings, even if you really hate them. A random thought then popped into Sylvie's head. "Do you ever try to protect your siblings from your aunt? I'm just curious..."

Lucien sighed. It was hard to explain their families pure-blood politics within itself. "Well you see, in our family it's always been like that. My sister gets it the worst because our mother died giving birth to her. My aunt likes to blame my sister for her death because of it. What I mean't by it not completely being my Aunt's fault is my sister's behavior. My Aunt is just the devil there's no getting around that one." He stated somewhat quicker than he had been speaking. Even mentioning his mother was a nightmare, the family went through to much because of it.
"Ara my sister has her conditions which makes an exception for her actions and words. She has quite a few, but added up together it's just solid chaos. I'm working on a cure for the conditions actually." He smiles slightly.
Lucien laughed along with her about being anti-social. "I only talk a lot when I'm nervous, I mean, I was hiding behind a curtain." The topic switched back to his siblings and his Aunt which made him a little uncomfortable. "The last time I tried my uncle locked me in my room before locking my sister in her own room. It only makes thing worse. Don't mistake me for not loving my siblings, I would die for them. Ara is a sweetheart when she isn't ill. My younger brother once came at me with a kitchen knife. I do everything in my power to protect them, even if it means stepping away." He sighed. He did want to protect them, but he didn't know how. Anything he did made it worse, Lucien figured it was best to just let it be rather than mess with something he didn't understand.
"My twin sister has quite the temper. She fight's back against my Aunt which usually results in her getting slapped but it's worth the look on my aunt's face, that's what Ara says anyway. I try to be there for her but the last time I tried to help her she freaked out on me so I find it best to avoid doing anything at this point."

Sylvie listened attentively to what Lucian had, and she fiddled with her hair as she did so. Her light green eyes were locked on as he spoke and nodded when she felt like it was appropriate. "Hmm... I guess his mother died during childbirth... do wizards have ways to keep that from happening?" She thought, still not knowing everything about the wizarding world. Even though she was curious, she decided that it was better not to, considering that he probably didn't want to talk about his dead mom, just like she didn't want to talk about her mom. There are just some topics that are meant to be left untouched, well, at least in first interactions.
Sylvie was very interested when he said he was trying to make a cure for his sister's condition. When he mentioned it her green eyes seemed to become brighter. "That's amazing! I wish you the best of luck!" She loved healing and medical things, and always wanted to be a veterinarian when she was a kid before she knew about magic, and was always in the nurse's office, not only because she frequently got hurt, but also because she was fascinated by all the equipment in there.
Sylvie was glad Lucien had tried to protect his siblings. She'd been worried for a bit that he'd just been a bystander watching them be abused. Something she hated with a passion was people who were bystanders and didn't at least try to help. "That's good, I was just making sure that you didn't ignore it."
"I kind of like the sound of your sister. She stands up for herself, that's always a good quality in a person." She said. Sylvie believed bravery and confidence were some of the best qualities a person could have and admired those who had such qualities.

He wasn't sure what was left to say. Communication had never been something he was fond of. "Thank you, and um...she's not so nice to new people, unless they have ties with a family member. It's very rare she is kind although sometimes she can be. If you wanted to meet her she isn't hard to find. Long white hair usually in some fancy braids, blue eyes that stare into your soul, tall Slytheirn. Yeah not hard to miss." He said smiling slightly. He slightly hoped she wouldn't go looking for her alone. "If you want to meet Aravis I could introduce you, she doesn't mind when I introduce her to new people. Although she isn't fond of people walking up to her randomly. She never was fond of strangers."
Surely Ara wouldn't be too harsh on a first year, despite her bitterness she had been striving to be nicer. "I should probably head back in a few minutes, she'll worry if I'm gone too long." He said shuffling slightly, a habit he had developed when nervous. Curfew wasn't for a while but he did have a strict routine that both of the twins followed to keep them out of trouble...or in it together. Either option worked.

"His sister kind of sounds like me a few years ago." She thought as she listened. "Maybe if I see you with her I'll say hello. If she doesn't really like strangers I won't force myself on her, but I'd be happy to be friends with her if she ever wants one. I acted like that a while ago, so I can understand where she's coming from." She smiled kindly. She'd been at her old school for 3-4 years before people even tried to be friends with her. Sylvie would snap at everyone, mainly because she had, and still has, a bit of a difficult time trusting others.
"He's right, it's pretty late..." She thought, checking a pocket watch in her bag. "I should probably head back to the dorm." She looked over to the boy, who was moving in place quite a lot. She thought he was probably nervous, maybe because of the fact he had to meet his sister soon. "Well, I guess I'll leave you to do whatever you were doing behind the curtain." She said giggling, standing up and adjusting her bag, and holding her diary to her chest.
"I'll see you around. It was nice talking to you!" She said, acting friendly. She didn't really know if he liked her, or if she was just a pest to him pressing him for info about his whole family. She hoped not but who knew! Because of this, she was slightly panicking that she'd made a bad first impression, but luckily this panic didn't show in her body language. She made her way to the door, and turned around, waving goodbye as she stood in the doorway.

Lucien smiled slightly. "Yeah, people are tricky to be around, I guess I'll see you later. Nice to meet you Sylvie." He said waving as she said her goodbyes before leaving. After she left the room it felt cold. Perhaps it had been because she seemed to sparkle like a sun with her positive energy, either that or it cancelled out his cold aura he gave off. He made his way to the curtain picking up his cello case carrying down to his dorm room. He had liked meeting Sylvie, glad it ended but sad at the same time. He was running out of things to talk about which was kind of a relief that both had to leave so silence could be avoided. Yet, at the same time, he had actually enjoyed talking to her.
He hoped he would see the younger Slytherin around sometime soon. He was never fond of people but he didn't mind her. Perhaps he liked talking to her because she reminded him of a much nicer version of his twin sister he knew all too well. For once, hiding from someone had served a purpose, causing him to meet someone. It was the opposite of what he had planned to do, but it all worked out in the end.

Sylvie smiled and turned on her foot and walked away. Her bag was thumping rhythmically against her side as she walked. She'd enjoyed sitting there and talking to him, even though tonight she would be burying her face in her pillow and yelling out of embarrassment because of Lucien hearing her sing. It wasn't she couldn't sing in front of others, it was more she didn't like singing in front of strangers or people in general, also the song that she wrote was not meant to be heard by others. Well, what could she do now?
Now that Sylvie had met and talked to Lucien, she assumed she would probably see him around. It was easier to notice people you know that people you haven't talked too. Sylvie looked back at the door smiling. "I hope I see him again. He was nice to talk too." She thought, turning again. She thought about her song. "I'll do some more edits when I get back to the dormitory. I'll just hum it instead of singing" She held her diary closer to her chest and continued walking. The tapping of her shoes on the floor filled the hallway as she walked back to the Slytherin common room.
