Sad Song CLOSED

Annabel leaned against the nearby wall looking up at the high ceiling of the ballroom, where frozen icicles hung. The room was obviously magical since she wasn't cold, but she wasn't necessarily warm, either. The perfect temperature for the school dances.

"I am Luna. Luna Choi." The other Slytherin introduced herself while examining our faces. "... and I'm sorry for your loss, Roni and Cooper." she continued and Roni agreed. "Playing piano helps me express myself too, and it makes me feel really safe." She was honestly glad that these girls were sympathetic. But did she really expect anything other than this? No, she didn't. Why would anyone be anything else than sympathetic? Why did she expect them to be as cold as the icicles looked?

Luna turned her gaze to the Ravenclaw, and Veronica followed her eyes. Now we were all looking at the girl, who was still sitting with her knees to her chest, pretending to be invisible. The small girl noticed the attention and her face turned red. She buried her face in her robes.

Annabel noticed the girls fear of being on the spot and placed her gaze elsewhere up at the frosted windows.

"Hello," said Veronica as she squatted down in front of the girl. "I'm Roni, what's your name?"

The Ravenclaw lifted her head to meet the Gryffindor's eyes. "K-Katie..." she whispered in a barely audible tone.

To avert the eyes from the girl, Annabel said, "Uh, I played the recorder in second grade..." she laughed to break the tension.

Luna nodded at Veronica, "Of course, if..." she stopped looking at her eyes, and continues, "If we have the chance to meet again, somewhere that has a piano..." She talked with a small voice, however, the ballroom was big and there was only four person in there, so the others could hear what she said clearly. Luna wasn't the type that could break the promise easily, so she decided to write that inside her note when she came back to the dorm.

She was a bit surprised when the Gryffindor tried to talk with the Ravenclaw girl, but Luna didn't say anything. Everyone had their different way to solve the problem, and if the little lion wanted to talk with the Ravenclaw girl, she didn't mind much about that. However, she was a bit afraid that she felt uncomfortable around them.

After the little raven introduced herself, Luna could feel a little awkwardly. Gladly, Annabel broke the tension. She looked at her as she wanted to say thank you, and started talking "Really? Do you like it? As for me, I have been playing piano since I was six. However," Luna sighed, "I couldn't play piano in Hogwarts, just hope that I don't forget the way to play it when I came back to the Manor" She didn't think that she could forget it, however, she should still think of the worst situation...

“K-Katie?” The Ravenclaw whispered her name as though it was a question, quiet enough so only Roni could hear. It was muffled further so it was straining on her ears to make out, but she heard it. Roni offered Katie another smile and her hand, helping her to her feet. "It's a pleasure to meet you Katie." Turning her head off her shoulder, Roni chuckled at Annabel's comment. "Really? I didn't play in instrument until the fourth grade. Even then it wasn't anything fancy. Just a simple violin." Her eyes grew wide when she heard Luna. "Since you were six? Jimmanee. That's impressive Luna."

Turning her head back to the little Raven, Roni's smile fell as she could see how uncomfortable Katie was around them. "Do you play an instrument miss Katie?" She felt bad that Katie was being left out, but knew she had her reasons. It couldn't be easy being in a new place with no friends. Roni wanted to do what she could to make the little Raven feel welcome in their company. It's never fun to not have any friends, and Roni was determined to be her first, that is if Katie hadn't already made on that is.

Katie had to smile at Ronnie. She was so nice. Wasn’t griffin door supposed to be rudely brave or something? Granted, slytherin was supposed to be evil when Katie knew for 100% sure that the latter wasn’t the case. And just because Katie had a desire to learn didn’t make her inherently smart. She just didn’t mind spending the extra time TO learn. So really, the more people she met the more she realized how absolutely idiotic the stereotypes were for the houses. She would draw conclusions of people not by the color on their robe but by the content of their character, to quote Mr Martin Luther King Jr.

Of course can, the smile was hidden where her robes were pressed into her face. But she decided she liked Ronnie’s excitable nature. The other two people were very kind in trying to get the attention off of her, and it was something that she appreciated greatly. Of course, she couldn’t thank them, there were so many people in here, she didn’t think she could, but her eyes shown with greatfulness every time they did. She shook her head to ronnie’s Question. She was lying, being the flutist in her family. If she said that, they might ask her to play. If she had to play, she might actually have a panic attack.

"...Thanks" Luna didn't expect to hear a compliment from the Gryffindor girl, so she was a bit shocked at first. However, she shouldn't just silently hearing her compliment without saying anything. Luna turned to Katie and talked as soft as she could. "That is sad, but do not worry, you can not play the instrument but I am pretty sure you can do something else. Since Katie was a Ravenclaw, she guessed that the girl was good at studying, or things like that.

Of course, Luna could see the Ravenclaw Girl felt more comfortable now. It was nice to know that since she didn't want to have anyone felt uncomfortable with the others. In addition, she realized that the girls, all of them, we were kind of young. Are they all First Year? She decided to ask them to know if she was wrong or not. "Are you guys, all of you, First Year student? If they were, they would feel more comfortable, or at least she hoped so. When she was waiting for their answer, Luna looked up and then she realized how beautiful this place was. The little snake liked this place, maybe she would come here the next day again..
