•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•——————✧◦♚◦✧——————⋆•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•Classes had ended for the day. Many students were rushing back to their common rooms to prepare for the fall ball that was going on later that evening. The school seemed rather lively after all there were students from the other wizarding schools visiting as well. The serenity of the outdoors seemed to consume Helena as she walked under the marble arches of the courtyard; the young girl was rather curious on how this ball would end up after all she ended up agreeing to attend the ball with two of her older Hufflepuff dorm mates.
Helena was rather excited to attend the ball after all at least she would not be alone that was the least she could ask for. Attending large dances and balls like this always seemed to make the young girl rather nervous. But she knew she could overcome it with her new friends at her side.
As Helena was walking through the arches the young girl seemed to turn her gaze towards the water fountain that stood at the center of the courtyard, the gentle laps of water splashing down the sound of the evening insects buzzing about. The soft steps of the students walking about seemed to echo around Helena. The golden haired girl seemed to zone out watching the ripples of the water cascade down wards making ripples in the not so still water. The sweet bitter chill of the wind seemed to nip at Helena’s ivory pale skin.
Slowly Helena walked towards the water fountain getting lost in her own little world. The sweet melody of the water dripping down the sides and into the vast water below seemed rather peaceful. Her golden hair swayed behind her. Helena was uncertain why she seemed rather uncertain and overwhelmed; maybe it was the fact she still heard nothing from her parents or the fact that things between her and Remedy seemed a bit rocky. Maybe it was the uncertainty of feeling like a dreadful friend that seemed to creep up Helena’s spine.
The young girl seemed rather focused on her school work; she rarely had a chance to make friends or even pay attention to the ones she had. Though Helena felt rather foolish thinking such negative thoughts she just could not help but feel the hurt that swelled inside of her chest as her sea blue eyes turned icy and dull staring sorrowfully into the fountains water. The wind gently brushes against her face making loose strands of blonde hair dance around.
Helena falling deep into her unwelcome thoughts seemed to zone out from reality not paying key attention to many things going on. The girl was even debating on turning back on going to the ball, but she did make a promise and figured it would be best to go after all. She felt the need to make sure that her friends were alright and they wanted her to join them after all.
Helena continued to gaze at the water quietly lost in her own little world uncertainty swallowing the young girl whole as if she had no idea what to really do or feel.

𝓑ex was a girl on a mission.
As soon as her classes let out for the day, Bex was already off, making her way through the corridors as fast as she could without technically running, as while she was in a hurry, she still wasn’t particularly keen on facing the ire of any unexpected prefects. Tonight was the Fall Ball, though, and as everyone's time to get ready before it began was limited Bex was far from the only student in a hurry to get where they were going (and she managed to bump into more than one of those harried students in her haste, calling out a quick “Sorry!” over her shoulder as she pressed forward.)
Unlike many of her friends and fellow students, Bex wasn’t actually planning on attending the Fall Ball. She’d made her excuses about being too busy with schoolwork (people were always really, really primed to accept this excuse from a Ravenclaw) but truthfully, she just wasn’t really interested in social events with that fancy of a dress code. Bex was willing to put up with a dress at Christmas and exactly no other time.
No, Bex was rushing because she’d left her favorite jumper by the lake at lunch today, and if she didn’t beat the early Fall Ball crowd out there, it would be sayonara jumper, a fallen hero lost to the shoes of her classmates.
Bex opted to cut through the Courtyard and save herself a few precious minutes of time, her brown curls flying behind her as she hurried past the fountain and the blonde girl standing next to it, only for her to suddenly process, a few steps from the exit, that the girl by the fountain had been Helena. Bex quickly doubled back around, running over to say hello.
“Lena!” She exclaimed, breathless but happy to see her. “Hi! What are you doing out here?”
She and Helena hadn’t had nearly as many opportunities to hang out as Bex would’ve liked, what with the time that both of them had been putting into their schoolwork (rather begrudgingly, on Bex’s end at least), as well as with Quidditch tryouts and practice for Bex, and just the general realities of being in two separate houses. While Bex liked being in Ravenclaw well enough, she wouldn’t have minded having been sorted into Hufflepuff with Helena. In addition to the obvious benefits of getting to spend more time with her very first friend at Hogwarts, she would like to believe that Hufflepuffs would be less inclined than her fellow Ravenclaws to encourage her to read for fun.
Bex always enjoyed the time the two of them did get to spend together though and was happy to have caught Helena before the Ball. Lena absolutely seemed like the type to enjoy a more formal dress code, so she would have expected her to look a bit more excited about the event than she currently did. She mostly looked sad and stressed if anything, which are not necessarily the most ideal emotions to go into a party with.
“Are you okay?” She asked.

•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•——————✧◦♚◦✧——————⋆•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•The trickle of the water cascading down into the basin of water connected to the fountain echoed across the courtyard. The sound of the afternoon birds flocking about singing their sweet melody. The footsteps of students rushing about to prepare themselves for the later evening activities scurried about quickly.
Helena stayed in a sort of dazed expression watching the water flow around in the basin of the water fountain. Lost in her own thoughts, the golden haired girl slightly jumped when a familiar voice exclaimed her name. Turning her head slightly behind her Helena smiled a soft smile to the familiar brunette haired girl that she had encountered on the Hogwarts express. Helena’s sea blue eyes held many emotions clouded in a sea full of emotions that seemed slightly broken inside. A small sweet smile etched on Helena’s face softly as she gazed over at Bex.
“Hello Bex. I am just relaxing before heading back to the Hufflepuff common rooms that is all. What about you? How have you been faring?”
Helena spoke softly in her feathery soft tone towards Rebecca the golden haired girl continued to smile softly. It was always a pleasure to run into Rebecca, speaking to her made the young girl happy and a bit relieved after all Rebecca was one of her official first friends she technically made. Besides Remedy Norden, but that relationship was always a tad bit complicated for Helena to Comprehend after all it was a rocky relationship for sure.
Helena watched Rebecca quietly as the brunette haired girl spoke once again a question Helena was semi bracing herself.
Rebecca asked if the golden haired girl was okay, but Helena had no idea how to truly answer it. She was fine overall, she enjoyed school life and was pretty swell and everything was going as not according to plan after all. She had not heard word from her parents at all nor did she rarely see or speak to Ulysses. It was as if the world was trying to teach her a lesson or punish her; the young girl was uncertain about the matter. Helena could feel her heart feel as heavy as a rock sinking to the bottom of the ocean as if she felt like her breath was taken away, but the sun ray haired girl continued to smile softly towards Bex as her eyes held more of her own battles.
“I am okay as one can be honestly Bex. How are you? Hope classes have been faring well and not too much trouble.”
Helena spoke softly her voice wavered slightly but the young girl tried to keep up the calm and happy presence she did not wish to worry her friend or burnden Rebecca with her problems after all it would not be fair to Rebecca if Helena buckled down in defeat telling the brunette all of her problems her fears her doubts everything it would not really solve anything either it could fairly well cause more problems than solve them.
Helena knew it was better to bottle up her emotions and not let them loose, but the young girl also had no idea what to do; she even felt confused. But Helena pushed down her feelings of uncertainty and worry as she continued to smile as bright as she possibly could towards Bex as the young girl's ocean full of doubt and uncertainty swam inside of those sea blue eyes she continued to try and show the happy note of life. After all the young girl did have friends who stayed beside her when she needed them the most after all that was what mattered.

𝓣he fountain mostly just seemed like any old fountain, at least to Bex. It was ancient and intricate of course, as most things at Hogwarts were, but otherwise seemed unremarkable. Bex wondered what about it had captured Helena's attention so thoroughly. The golden blonde girl seemed to watch it as though it had the answers to questions that she hadn't even thought to ask, let alone speak out loud. It was likely that Helena was simply more poetic than she was, and could feel something in it that was far out of Bex's reach. It was a reminder that as much as Bex liked Helena, she wasn't sure that she really understood her. She'd like to, though.
Case in point: Helena's claimed that she was just relaxing, and generally doing well, but her face told a vastly different story. Her smile didn't quite meet her eyes, and it was clear that there was far more going on underneath the surface than Helena was willing to let on. But Bex wasn't one to pry into her friends secrets (though admittedly she could be rather nosy when it came to other people's secrets), and certainly wasn't one to call someone out on a harmless lie.
She smiled cheerfully back at Lena, and let the subject drop. She regretted it instantly though as the conversation moved on from how Helena was doing, to how Bex was doing. Or, more specifically, how classes were going. Bex chewed on her lip before responding to the blonde girl.
"I'm doing good. And classes are good, too."
Classes were not, as she so eloquently put it, going "good". The theory portions at least were going well enough. What Bex lacked in natural academic talent she made up for in diligence, determination, and an adherence to good study habits that she learned through necessity back in muggle primary school. She had no trouble memorizing spell names and pronunciations, nor in perfecting complex wand movements. She had yet to get less than an O on any of her written assignments, and if written assignments were all there was to being a witch, then Bex would have been in pretty good shape.
Unfortunately being a witch was mostly about actually performing magic, which was currently the source of around ninety percent of Bex's stress.
She didn't know what was wrong with her. She'd been experiencing bouts of accidental magic for quite literally as long as she could remember, so this shouldn't be an issue brought on by lack of magical talent. But while she almost always was able to eventually perform whatever spell she was working on, it tended to take her long hours of practice and numerous more attempts than many of the other students around her. The truly frustrating part, though, was that she hadn't even wanted to be a witch, and would have been perfectly happy continuing on with muggle school and a muggle life, had the decision been hers to make. Like it or not though, she was a witch, and it just didn't seem fair that the universe hadn't felt inclined to, at the very least, make her a good one.
Her main goal these days was to avoid having what would surely end up being a very public breakdown in Transfiguration, and to spend as much time out on the Quidditch pitch and away from her failures as possible. A third smaller, but no less important goal, was to never, ever talk about this with anyone, least of all her parents.
A gust of wind blew through the courtyard, causing Bex to push her brown curls away from her face. It wasn't quite cold out yet, though it was getting there. Fall Ball would likely be one of the last few night's warm enough to enjoy the evening air without a thick jacket or a good warming charm. Bex spared a thought for her wayward jumper and crossed her fingers that it would still be waiting for her once she made her way out to get it.
"You're going to the Fall Ball tonight, aren't you? Are you excited?" Bex asked, quickly changing the subject.

•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•——————✧◦♚◦✧——————⋆•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•With the calming sound of water trickling down the water fountain the fall autumn leaves gently brushing past the girls. The sweet melody of the owlery owls echoed across the school grounds.
Helena glanced softly towards Rebecca as she talked about classes. Helena tried her best to read her friend's body language. She knew the other girl was still adjusting and understood that magic is still a really new thing for her for sure. Eyes of sea blue waves full of curiosity and kindness gazed softly towards the brunette.
Helena thought for a moment thinking of her words carefully. She knew Rebecca was not fully exposed to magic unlike herself so learning magic and all was a tad bit easier and more natural though Rebecca was a very smart girl Helena had no doubt in her mind that the young girl would rock the socks off of anyone with her knowledge.
“That is good if you need any assistance let me know. I would be glad to help if I am able to that is.
Helena spoke softly to Rebecca in her key signature quietly and poise soft to the touch voice.
As the duo seemed to converse together Helena tried her best to stay focused. The golden haired girl's mind was swimming with many worries and thoughts. She honestly had no idea what to do. Part of her wished to confide in someone, but she knew better than to trust anyone it would be rather rash and could backfire horribly on the young girl.
Helena released a low shaky breath as she smiled softly towards Rebecca the young girl was asking about the fall ball. Which caught Helena’s attention she planned on going with two of her housemates Alyssea Brown and Landon Matthews. Though Helena did not know the two older students well she got along with them swimmingly. She fitted in with the group of older kids rather quickly which was a bit surprising to the young girl for sure, but it did not bother her much either she quite enjoyed having older friends seemed less problematic in a way.
Helena thought quietly how to respond to the question. When a certain ravenette haired girl caught the golden haired girl’s sight. Helena’s breath hitched slightly as she felt herself pale slightly, her frail small hands shook slightly as she tried to keep a calm demeanor, Helena turned towards Rebecca smiling, the young girl had no idea what to do or even think.
Helena knew this girl well, she did not expect Remedy to be cruel to Rebecca for no reason but at the same time the young Slytherin girl was always a bit unpredictable to Helena. The golden haired girl kept her eye on the ravenette hoping maybe she did not hear the duo or notice Helena at all. But another part yearned for Remedy to speak to her. Helena felt a bit conflicted and confused fighting a battle in herself.
Calming her nerves Helena glanced over towards Rebecca smiling a rather shaky half smile to the young girl thinking of her words carefully.
“I am excited for the ball”
Helena answered rather softly before her eyes darted back and forth from the brunette haired girl and the ravenette haired girl. Helena thought quietly before getting a rather serious look on her face staring at Rebecca in the eyes.
“I apologize in advance. I may not have enough time to explain. But please trust me.”
Helena spoke in a hush tone as she grabbed Rebecca's hand in her own, giving the young girl a calm nervous look. Helena had know idea how to explain to her what may happen or if anything bad would happen anyways. Helena knew Remedy was not one to start fights or problems without being provoked, but it did not help settle the knot that grew inside of Helena’s stomach. All she wanted to do was to protect Rebecca from any danger or being hurt in any way.
Helena would protect Remedy too, but she also knew the older girl did not need any protecting she was a very determined young girl and for that Helena respected Remedy even though she would never confront the other girl and expose how she truly felt about Remedy. Helena did respect Remedy more than anything, but the young girl also was terrified of the Norden girl more than words could describe. Giving Helena conflicted feelings to the matter.
Helena continued to hold Rebecca’s hand feeling her nerves strengthen deep down Helena hoped that Remedy did not see nor hear the duo conversing. Even though it was selfish of Helena to feel or think she was honestly terrified how Remedy would react around Rebecca would she be kind? Cold? Maybe she would be rather nice? Helena knew Remedy tended to be a kind person and was usually misunderstood. Maybe it was the fear of Rebecca being hurt or exposed to someone that was unpredictable. Helena had no idea how to truly feel at this very moment.
All the young girl could do was hope that Remedy would not notice the duo at all. Maybe she did not hear them even though they were semi loud enough to be overheard. All Helena could think about was the outcomes of something disastrous happening and it made the young girl feel like she was drowning in her own breath. But Helena knew she had to stay calm at least for Rebecca; she already knew the other girl was still new to magic and slightly terrified of Bex meeting anyone that would harm her in any way worried Helena.
Helena took another shaky breath as she continued to hold Rebecca’s hand gently in her pale one. Mainly for comfort for herself but to also drag Rebecca away if necessary. Helena felt conflicted and wished to hope for the best. Maybe Remedy would just be kind and caring, but at the same time even she knew Remedy was a very tricky person to understand. But Helena really wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt badly she wanted to hope that her childhood friend would surprise her maybe just maybe Helena could have both of her friends get along maybe they could enjoy many adventures together, but at the same time Helena knew that would be highly unlikely and it just made the girl fear more of the outcome.

October 6th 23--------------- Treason (Right or Wrong?) ------- -------Courtyard-------
------- ------- Remedy's Dialogue #796f4e------- -------
Her footsteps resounded in the crowded corridor, throngs parting as the raven-haired Slytherin neared; each click of her flats heralding the countdown to someone's misfortune.
Or fortune; if one was destined to be so lucky, but Remedy dissolved such hope from mere observation of the imbecilic buffoons she unfortunately shared classes with. It wasn't for their lack of diligence in some occurrences, therefore Remedy simply chalked it up to blood; and alas, not all could be saved. To those ever so lucky that the Slytherin carried fondness or pity alike -- the few that displayed such potential, Remedy endeavored to bring under her tutelage. Her pity was not readily shared, therefore individuals who were among those privileged enough to earn it should have been gracious, while the meek who were not could rot.
Dark orbs landed upon a Hufflepuff as the expanse of courtyard opened before her; one such student on the cusp of gain or defunct. The courtyard remained in regular disarray, with obnoxious students howling at one another across the cobblestone, but the ornate fountain was always a sight worth seeing. Helena joined hands with another student before it; one girl Remedy felt convinced she'd shared a course or two with, but no one who piqued her curiosity. The wolfish girl halted her stride in time to collect pieces of their conversation, a talk of being excited for something, but the courtyard transitioned in an eerie hush as though a predator entered a once-lively forest. Helena must have caught on to the shift in energy, as the strawberry blonde turned to face the girl that often was portrayed in whispers to be more machination than human, or so Remedy heard along the grapevine.
Resuming her gait, her lips curved to a small token smirk as Remedy noted the transition of Helena's demeanor. The Hufflepuff's small smile seemed to fade, breathing ragged, guarded; the very same conduct Helena displayed the day of Remedy's birthday when poked with particular topics of conversation. Remedy wouldn't pry for the cause of Helena's mannerisms; instead, she'd allow the girl to evoke her own undoing if one such was to occur.
"To what are we excited about?" Remedy inquired, smiling upon Helena and the unnamed individual whom she held hands with. "Norden, Remedy Norden; I don't believe we've had the pleasure of meeting before."

Right or Wrong?
⋄ October 6th, 2023 | Courtyard ⋄
⋄ Interactions: @Helena Rose and @Remedy Norden | Mentions: None ⋄
𝓛ying had never been her strong suit, and it looked like she hadn't been lucky enough to somehow spontaneously develop an affinity for it today. Helena had seen right through her in a way that Bex both envied and despised. It was sweet of her, though, to offer to help Bex in her classes, and maybe she'd even take the blonde girl up on her offer, should she ever grow desperate enough. Which was growing increasingly likely by the day.
Helena had grown up magical in way that Bex, with only one magical parent, could scarcely imagine (and, as said magical parent seemed to be able to effortlessly traverse back and forth between their two worlds in a way that Bex could hardly understand, let alone replicate, she may as well have had none for all the good it had done her when it came to transitioning to living in the magical world full-time.) Maybe there was something Bex was missing when it came to spellcraft that was basic, intrinsic knowledge to her other classmates, a secret door that Helena had the key to and could smuggle her through. Bex could only hope it would be that easy.
Her pride hated asking anyone else to help her open the door, though. She'd rather keep beating on it ceaselessly until her knuckles split open and stained the wood red.
She smiled at Helena. "Thank you, I'll let you know if I need anything." She said noncommittally.
Something shifted in the air then, something that she couldn't quite put into words, but had an almost tangible feel in the atmosphere. The courtyard, which had just a moment before been full of noise and excitement as the Ball approached, had faded into a far softer susurrus, like a candle that had been snuffed out, the ghost of it only remaining in the smoke it had left behind. She looked up to the skies, wondering if it was going to rain.
Helena glanced around before telling her, “I am excited for the ball." She then looked Bex directly in the eyes before continuing, taking Bex's hands into her own as she spoke. "I apologize in advance. I may not have enough time to explain. But please trust me.”
And uh, okay? "Helena, if this is, like, your way of asking me to come to the Ball, I am definitely not going-"
"To what are we excited about?" An unfamiliar voice asked, and Bex turned to face it, more than a little startled at the sudden appearance of the unfamiliar brunette who'd come up behind her, turning their cozy duo into an uncertain trio. But said stranger was smiling at the two of them, Helena especially, which immediately put Bex more at ease. Maybe she and Helena knew each other?
She waved at the newcomer, who introduced herself as Remedy, and went about introducing herself in turn. "No, I don't think we've met before. Nice to meet you, I'm Rebecca Lark. I go by Bex." She glanced at Helena and Remedy each in turn. Remedy certainly talked a lot like Lena, both of them being so posh and formal in their speech. "Do you two know each other already?"

─── ⋅ ∙ ∘ ☽ ༓ ☾ ∘ ⋅ ⋅ ────── ⋅ ∙ ∘ ☽ ༓ ☾ ∘ ⋅ ⋅ ───Helena felt her heart racing in her chest. Why exactly? She had no clue. It was not like Helena to panic at the mere sight of Remedy. After all they were friends were they not? Or acquaintances? Either way Helena was befuddled why her heart was racing. Maybe it was the fact that she knew how Remedy could come off and the urge to protect Bex was running high inside of her mind.
But Remedy would not intentionally try and harm Bex would she? Helena cleared her mind shutting her eyes softly before reopening her stirling icey blue eyes. The young Hufflepuff girl straightened herself up as she continued to hold Bex’s hand. If things went south Helena was not going to hesitate to drag the Ravenclaw girl away. Afterall Helena was not going to let anyone get harmed or at least not intentionally.
Helena scanned the situation in front of her while the prongs of students that were once bustling around happily seemed to scatter. Of course Helena was not surprised after all Remedy was a Norden and that was something they seemed to be good at, but even Helena knew quite well her father had a fairly similar presence when he walked out in public.
Helena feigned a genuine smile towards Remedy after all, the honey blonde girl did not wish to hurt Remedy’s feelings nor did she really mind her presence. Helena personally enjoyed Remedy’s presence even though the young ravenette haired girl held a very intimidating demeanor Helena knew she was not entirely bad she was just misunderstood.
Helena stayed quiet as Remedy introduced herself to Bex. Keeping a close eye on the young Slytherin that was in front of her Helena slowly creeped into her thoughts. As if her brain was against the honey dewed hair girl.
Hearing Remedy’s voice speak up once again Helena was about to speak before Bex spoke before her. Helena glanced slightly towards Bex, before the young girl turned her sea blue gaze towards Remedy.
“We were just speaking about the Ball. Would you be going by chance?”
Helena questioned Remedy quietly speaking in a soft demeanor as she continued to hold a strong curious gaze towards the ravenette haired girl.
Helena awaited for Remedy to speak once more before Bex caught her attention. Asking if the two knew each other. Helena thought for a second before smiling softly.
“Remedy is a friend of mine. We grew up together practically. Our parents are sort of close in a way. Remedy is also pretty popular among the first year Slytherins or at least I would assume sense she is pretty interesting.”
Helena spoke once again in her soft demeanor though she rambled slightly about Remedy though every word she uttered was genuine and from her heart. Helena also figured maybe the sooner she figured out why Remedy approached the duo she could help her.
Maybe she just wanted to be friendly and join the duo which enlightened Helena a bit though by the look on Remedy’s face she was a bit wary though even looks can be deceiving and Helena knew that foremost for sure.
Helena figured what was the worst thing that could possibly happen after all everything was pretty normal at least for now.
