Shhh, it's the Library
Katie was beginning to wonder how everything worked around here. well, beginning was a stretch. she had always been a curious little girl. she'd been wondering how magic worked ever since an owl had magically known exactly where to go to find her. she'd wanted to know the explanation behind the talking hat, and floating candles. but she had a feeling that something like that was going to take a lot more than one free afternoon before class. so the new muggle born girl settled for the very next best thing.
she was going to learn about this school.
she'd found a dusty copy of 'Hogwarts: a history' which seemed like an acceptable place to start. it had a suitable title for what she wanted. she found a little window-seat to curl up on, leaning against the side and opening the book. it reminded her of home, and she decided this was to become one of her frequent haunts.
in a few hours she had a fairly good grip on the four houses, where they had come from, and their core values. apparently, the weird names were LAST names, and she was in the smart house, known for their passion to learn. Katie found this interesting. she also learned about house ghosts, information which could very well save her from a panic attack later.
suddenly, a book dropped near her perch. well, multiple, actually, but one made a particularly loud thud, which was never good, especially in a quiet and calm place like this. while the librarian's shush could be heard, Katie jumped up, landing quietly, and immediately rushed to help pick up the books.

Luna walked in the library and looked around. It was bigger than she thought it would be, and she was really happy when she saw the books there. She hasn't made any friends, so she decided to spend time in the library, because she liked reading, and it would help her a lot in the future. And here, the library was a quiet place, a perfect place to read books.
She walked around and thinking which book she should choose, but she was interested in all of them. After a while, Luna decided to pick a book randomly. She read the title, "House-Elves and Self-Hatred" Is this about House-Elves?, Luna mumbled and opened a few pages. ]
She knew what House-Elves meant, her house has some after all. However, she thought it would be great if she knew more about them. Luna smiled and chose the table that was closest to her, starting to read the book.
After a while, she suddenly heard a loud noise near her. Luna looked up to see where the noise came from, and then she saw a girl, a Ravenclaw girl. Seemed like she dropped the books... Luna thought.
She tried to ignore the girl and continue reading, however, she couldn't. Just by looking at the Ravenclaw Girl's face, she knew how embarrassed that girl felt. In addition, she couldn't ignore the people who need help, even if they were a stranger. And both of them are students in Hogwarts after all... Luna closed the book and quickly walked to her. She sat down and picked up the books. With a smile on her face, the Slytherin Girl gave them to the girl who was in front of her.

Katie was honestly very embarrassed . She loved books, and would never try and hurt one on purpose. She was always a bit of a klutz but that didn’t mean she had to like it. She was picking up the books she’d bright over, other copies of books that were all history based around wizards and witches and all that. Then another girl began to help her. She was smiling, and helping. Katie had to smile back, as she finally got her stack back in order.
Oh, what was she going to do if the libarian decided she hated her?
Katie didn’t know, but she decided she was going to have to make apology cookies. Maybe she could give the girl in green some thank you cookies, too. Katie just wanted to not make enemies. Having been raised in the muggle world, she had none of the stigma against slytherins that most wizards did. She understood that the hufflepuffs were her house’s rival but honestly they were all so kind she decided to ignore that strategically. Katie wasn’t the type to create rivals. "Ah... You are welcome." Luna surprisingly looked at the girl. Was she just being... friendly with me? She thought and smiled at her weirdly. Maybe she is a Muggle-Born...Luna sighed, but then she remembered that one of the books was "Hogwarts: A history". That meant the girl knew about Slytherin, but she still chose to act normal with her. She didn't hate the people who are from the Muggles'world, and this girl didn't want to have a fight with her, so she really appeared that. Making rivals wasn't something that she liked to do, and the girl here didn't seem like she hated her... Maybe that was just what she thought, but she chose to believe that the Ravenclaw girl was like what she thought of her.
"I am Luna, Luna Choi. It's nice to meet you." She held out her hand and waited for the girl to shake it. Luna tried to avoid that girl's eyes. The reason was simple: No one knew but Luna's heart was beating really fast when she said those words. She wasn't the type that introduces herself first, so she felt really weird. the girl, standing at her full 4 feet and 9 inches, smiled at luna. to be completely honest, she was only at the part of hogwarts: a history where they cover the founders of the house, not where they get into modern history and how every kid in slytherin is fated to kill a baby panda or something. she didn't know the steryotype yet, and now, even when she did, she would have the memory of this one nice girl in green to counteract it.
Katie shook luna's hand with a smile, saying "Katie. f-from ravenclaw. but i'm wearing blue, so you probably already KNEW that. right?" that was kinda stupid to say, honestly. the blue and bronze cloak gave her away. suddenly katie was blushing again, and she exited the handshake before her palms got too sweaty. trying to steer this train wreck of a conversation back on track, katie realized Luna had also given her last name. "williams. Katie Williams. is my full name..." gosh, she had to be the most socially inept girl hogwarts had ever seen. to complete her word vomit with a cherry on top, she added a final fact. "I'm a first year." and suddenly her ears were as red as her hair.

When Katie decided to shake her hand, Luna almost gave a sigh of relief. She quickly coughed a bit to cover it, but her sparkling eyes has already sold her out.
"Katie, that's a nice name! And of course, " The four feet and five inches girl smiled and looked at her new friend's uniform, "I know that you are from Ravenclaw, the best house for intelligent people, am I wrong? And as you can see, I am a Slytherin... and I'm pretty sure that you know it too..." Because she was almost joined the Ravenclaw, or maybe because most of the Slytherins didn't hate the Ravenclaws, Luna didn't hate the house of the Ravens either. Not to mention the thing that she loved reading, just like most of the Ravenclaws.
"Willams, right? And that's a coincidence, I'm a first year too!" We might have more details to talk about because both of us are first year after all, Luna happily thought. Of course, the little Snake noticed that the little Raven in front of her was as stressed as her. That made her felt more comfortable in front of her.
"Do you want to sit somewhere? We shouldn't keep standing and talking, it can make you and me feel uncomfortable..." Luna looked around to find a free table because, at the place that she was sitting and reading, there was someone else sitting there, and she didn't want to bother them.

"yeah, we're all super smart. or something. i dont know, my family isnt wizards. i'm the weird one, i guess." the enigma. she kind of liked the idea of that, just a little. plus. she got to go to a real school, which wasnt something she'd ever really desired but seemed like a neat thing so far.
"yeah, you're supposed to be the super smart ones, but like... streetsmart. not booksmart. and i read most of you come from wizard families. does that mean your parents went here too? did you know about this place before an owl hit your window?" yeah, the owl had flown directly into the Williams household's kitchen window, falling. Katie had run outside to help it and that had been how she'd gotten the letter.
she nodded at the suggestion to sit, even though now she had so many question about being born knowing who you were. "probably." she acknowledged, strugging to hold the stack of books. "maybe we could team up? booksmart and streetsmart?" and then she blushed more. was that too forward? it probably was, wasnt it?

"Oh do not worry, it's not weird. You were just born in a Muggle's family..." To be honest, she didn't know anything about the people who weren't Wizard-born. Luna looked closely at Katie, she looked just like any normal people here. Maybe the only thing different is the Muggle family or Wizard family? The little snake wondered.
Streetsmart, boosmart? That sounded... cute. Luna coughed to hide her laugh. "Yes, most of us come from wizard families. But there are actually a lot of people who come from Muggle families like you and... There are some half wizard half human too." Luna slowly talked after sitting down opposite to the little Raven. "My parents were a Gryffindor and a Ravenclaw here, but there are other schools for wizards too, like Beauxbatons Academie, Durmstrang Institute or Ilvermorny..." Luna hoped that she didn't spell the names wrong, but she still tried to act calm, "A-An owl hit your window? Well... I knew about this place before and... Our House-Elves gave us the letter, I think it took the letter from the owl? Luna talked with a small voice, and it made the things that she was talking about more mysterious. Of course, the little snake didn't mean to do it, she just wanted to make sure that she didn't make a loud voice in the library.

"a muggle?" she asked, testing the word out on her tounge. it felt alien, weird on her mouth. "whats a muggle?" she asked, extremely curious. it showed in her eyes, the desire to learn, to know more about anything and everything. it was clear, in that moment, why Katie Williams had been chosen for Ravenclaw.
Of course, Katie was hanging on to Luna's every word. she wanted to try the names of every school the girl had mentioned, betting they would be fun to pronounce. she tried them, under her breath, but careful. she couldnt be too too loud or her new friend would stop talking. Katie wouldnt want that, would she?
Katie sure wasnt calm. she was practically vibrating with excitement at all the new knowledge in her system. there were other schools, and she wanted to learn about them too now. would her friend know? would it be fruitless to ask? she certainly didnt want to scare Luna away, not now.
"at home?" she asked, listening to the girl cover. Kai sometimes lied like this when he was trying to be cool. "We call the people who can't use magic "Muggle", like your family..." Luna was a bit surprised when Katie asked her about it, but then she remembered that Katie was just a First year like her and she was born in a Muggle family, she shouldn't be surprised about that.
"You went to school when you were six? That's quite early... As a person who was born with Pure-Blood, I wasn't allowed to go to school until I reserved the Hogwarts letter." Luna stopped and thought of her past. Before going to Hogwarts, she had to learn a lot of stuff about how a Pure-Blood should act, and how to deal with the situation and family problem. Even if her father was a Gryffindor, he still ordered her to learn them.
"Maths and English and other stuff? That sounds..." quite interesting. She wondered how did the school in Muggle world look like? Just liked Katie could read her thought, the little Raven explained a bit about the school there to her.
"E-Electric lights?" Luna repeated, "How do electric lights look like? If they can't fly with magic, how do the Muggles make them not falling down?" She looked at her curiously and waited for her answer.
"Dishwashers? Are they support to wash dishes? No, we don't use machines to do... stuff like that. Usually, our House-Elves do those works for us...." Luna tried to remember the word dishwashers. Maybe her future self would need the word...
