PV Landon Matthews Late Night Studying To Early Morning Friendship Closed

Why Landon was up this early, he didn't quite understand. But he was awake by 6:30am today and not all that happy about it. It was a Saturday. He was allowed to sleep in a little. But nope, his body chose to wake him up. Landon climbed out of his bed, once again happy that he lived in a dorm with individual rooms for each person if they wanted them. He didn't want to bother anybody while he got himself ready for the day. Landon changed out of his pajamas, yawning widely as he did so. His eyes watered from the yawn but he knew he was getting up for the day. Landon got dressed in his clothes for the day, a little glad that they got a break from uniforms when it was the weekend. By the time Landon was dressed, had brushed his hair and teeth, and did everything else he needed to do, it was time for breakfast to be served. Landon gathered a few things from his room and packed them in a backpack before slinging it over his shoulder. He figured it would be a good idea to spend some time studying in the library after he ate. He went to the Great Hall and quickly ate some food, in a bit of a hurry to get to studying. He barely sat down, just grabbing a few pieces of toast and eating them while he walked toward the library. Landon finished eating right before walking into the library. He went to look at the bookshelves, seeking out a particular book. He knew that they were studying the Witch Hunt era and he wanted to find the right book. Landon pulled one of the books off the shelf and flipped through the pages. He was looking at the book when he heard someone walking up to him. He looked up and smiled shyly. "I'm actually in that section right now," he said. He gestured to the shelf in front of him. "Studying for the History of Magic quiz?" he asked curiously. He was pretty confident that he would do well on the quiz, but he still didn't see the problem with studying more when he had the time.

The boy with dark blonde hair and strikingly blue eyes spoke softly but clearly, "I'm actually in that section right now," he said. "Studying for the History of Magic quiz?"
Nico nodded, "Yeah, I'm not too sure I'll pass it. History is certainly not my strong suit, I much prefer Herbology. How about you?" It was true, Nico had barely managed to get by last year in his History of Magic class. It was remembering names, dates, and places, and he had quite a hard time remembering things he didn't find interesting.
The dark-haired teen rocked back and forth for a moment before muttering while holding his hand out, "Er, I'm Nico, or Niccoló, whatever you prefer." Niccoló was his full name, directly meaning "victor of people."It was a beautiful name, at least he thought, but he only ever got called it when he was in trouble back home in Birmingham. It's an Italian name, derived from Greek, and on his father's side of the family was a good portion of Italians.
Nico flashed a semi-fake smile at the boy, "You wouldn't happen to know if there was a book that- I don't know, maybe had the answers for the quiz? Just an idea, of course..."

Landon smiled kindly as he looked at Nico. He seemed to be friendly, which was different than the stereotype of Slytherins. Landon tried not to judge people based on their Hogwarts houses, but it wasn't always easy. His own sister was definitely very much a Slytherin, so he didn't have any hatred toward them, but he was still a little more cautious about them. He was a friendly guy and really caring, and he could easily be manipulated because of how much he cared about other people. Landon had no reason to think that this person would be cruel or manipulative, and Landon knew that there were cruel people in every house... though not very common in Hufflepuff. Landon hummed a little as Nico said that history wasn't his strong suit. "I actually love history," he admitted. "I know that's not very cool to admit, and I should love the classes that I use magic for... but history has always been interesting to me," he added. "Herbology is nice though. I'm not particularly good at it," he explained. He wished more students would find history interesting. He had even joined a History of Magic club here at Hogwarts in an effort to find people who also found the subject interesting. Landon took the other boy's hand and shook it. "I'm Landon," he said. "Landon Matthews." Landon knew his name wasn't all that special, but it was his and he liked it. He laughed a little as Nico asked if there was a book that had the answers for the quiz. "I'm not sure what is exactly going to be on the quiz, but I imagine you would find some of the information in one of these books," he said, gesturing toward a particular shelf of the library section. He reached for one book and glanced at it. "This one might be helpful," he told Nico.

"Landon," Nico echoed, "Nice to meet you. And I think it's cool that you like history."
He smiled when Landon laughed, he had a nice laugh.
"I'm not sure what is exactly going to be on the quiz, but I imagine you would find some of the information in one of these books. This one might be helpful," he told Nico as he directed him to a book. "Aw, sweet! Thanks mate," He said as he grabbed the book from the shelf.
"Making friends, are we? We'll see what an anxiety attack has to do with that...," a warning voice seems to say in the far depths of Nico's mind. And then, on cue, a static feeling started growing in his fingers and began to feel lightheaded. He blinked slowly and covered his mouth with his hand before taking a shuttering breath.
"I have this under control. Just breathe and it won't be obvious. A distraction, find a distraction."
Nico glanced around before looking at Landon with a false sense of calm in his eyes and saying, "So, um, what house are you in? I'm in Slytherin if it wasn't obvious by my stereotypical appearance," he asked with a small smile. He hoped it wasn't obvious that he was internally freaking out for no apparent reason.
Nico had a history of anxiety attacks, but they usually had a reason for happening, this one showed up spontaneously. "Why me?"

Landon smiled softly as Nico said that it was cool that he liked history. "Oh... most people think it's pretty lame," he admitted. He didn't really know how to react when someone didn't immediately judge him for being a history nerd. Landon did have friends of course, and they accepted him for who he was, but it wasn't all that common to like history as much as Landon did, especially when he was only twelve. History tended to be more appreciated by people who were older in general. Landon watched Nico grab the book he suggested and smiled. "No problem, I'm happy to help," he said. He genuinely liked to help people, maybe that was the Hufflepuff in him. He cared about other people. The more time passed, the more Landon realized that he really was a Hufflepuff, not a Ravenclaw like he had always thought he would be. He felt at home in Hufflepuff now. Landon frowned a little as Nico seemed to get nervous. He wondered what he did to make Nico feel that way. He tried to pretend it was okay too, since it seemed like Nico didn't want to bring attention to it, but he couldn't help but observe with a little bit of worry in his eyes. "I mean, I don't know how I guessed it, but I did think you were a Slytherin," he said with a hum. "But I'm a Hufflepuff," he answered. "Thought I would be a Ravenclaw, but... Hufflepuff is the right house for me."

Nico noticed a slight change in Landon's demeanor, a small glimpse of worry in his eyes. "Oh great, can't even hide a tiny anxiety attack. Okay, just breathe. It'll pass in a moment."
Nico blinked a few times and considered the Hufflepuff boy for a moment. Then after a few seconds, he broke the silence, "Erm, yeah I sort of figure you'd be one of those two houses. Not just everyone enjoys history, so I thought of Ravenclaw. But you also just sort of radiate the vibe of the color yellow, so I also thought of Hufflepuff. I guess you could say I'm just good at these kinds of things." He threw in a slightly cocky smile at the end to shake off his anxiety, and to his surprise, it almost worked completely. Although he still had that slight feeling of doom, he dismissed it, Nico seemed to always have that little bit of anxiety in the back of his mind. It was just a side effect he got when he engaged in the wonderfully painful activity called "socializing."
Niccolò glanced around the book-filled shelves and then turned back to Landon, holding the book he was to read later, and said, "So Landon, mate, besides history, what other things are you interested in? I myself like to draw, and paint, and pretty much anything to do with art. However, one of my talents is a bit interesting, perhaps one day I'll share it with you."

Landon didn't mean to make Nico feel uncomfortable, and he gave him a sympathetic glance. He looked away, trying to give Nico some privacy to calm down. He looked at the shelf of books next to them and read a few of the titles before Nico started to speak again. Landon felt a little relieved because he had thought that he had made Nico too uncomfortable to want to continue the conversation. He smiled kindly. Landon laughed softly as Nico said he radiated the vibe of the color yellow. "I... I've never heard that I have a yellow vibe, but I'm happy about it. It's better than giving off an unfriendly vibe, right?" he said, curiously. He didn't really know much about vibes. Was it like an aura? Landon didn't understand all of that sort of thing. He didn't even know if that was what Nico was talking about. Landon smiled. "I usually think of blue when I think of myself, but that just might be my favorite color," he added. Landon felt a little better now that Nico was talking more. Landon hummed a little as Nico asked him what other things he was interested in. "I mean... history is my main love, but I do like flying on brooms and reading," he said. "I wish I could do art. I'm just too messy in general. My handwriting is bad and I didn't get the artist gene like my twin did," he admitted. He did appreciate art though. There was a lot of history to be discovered just through art. He raised an eyebrow as Nico hinted at an interesting talent. Now Landon was curious. "I don't want to pry, but you definitely caught my interest with that," he said with a grin. Landon grabbed another book from the shelf, adding it to the pile of books he had already collected. His arms were beginning to be full. Landon just couldn't help his curiosity.
