A Sudden Meeting
Evangeline stepped outside into the fresh air of the grounds. The cool breeze felt familiar against her skin, reminding her of the garden at Pierce Manor, though it was more of a forest than a garden. Evangeline disliked remembering her old home, it wasn't the memories of the actual place as much as the people that really caused her to feel homesick. She missed Marli. The girl's bright eyes and soft, mouse-brown hair. They made her understand how much she needed a friend during the lonely years of her life.
Evangeline scoffed at the thoughts, pushing them into a corner of her mind. She didn't care for such useless things to take up her time, Marli was a part of her past, a person that she was likely to never see again. Evangeline was quick to abandon any hope of meeting her friend and childhood crush again, it was one of the only things she didn't hesitate to give up on. They were in different countries going to different schools living separate lives that were probably never cross. Not again, Evangeline had gotten lucky with meeting Marli once.
It was another gust of wind that drew Evangeline away from thoughts of her old life, a life that she wouldn't return to if given the choice. The Manor was a miserable place to live, even the few companions that she had there were not capable of making it any more bearable.
