Preptober Prompts (Week 3 Prompt 1)

9. Justice
Character Prompt: Write about your character doing the right thing (or what they believe to be the right thing). Why do they believe it is right?
Setting Prompt: Write about a new law being passed in your setting. Why is this law necessary? Is it the best outcome for everyone in your setting?

After Emeline was suddenly ghosted by her “friends”, she is feeling lonely. For a little while at first, she wonders what she did in order to make them so mad at her, and tries her best to do anything to get her friends back, she so desperately wants nothing about her poor old friendships to change. When school starts, she luckily (or as she thinks) gets put into the same class as her former friends. Emeline approaches the two girls, in order to try and talk to them, communication is key right? She is quite surprised when her old friends ignore every word that she says. Emeline tries to gain their attention and again starts speaking to them, just for the same thing to happen again. Of course, Emeline is really upset by this, and she honestly has no clue why she is grunge ignored and was ghosted like this. She still fairly often tries to communicate with the girls in whom she used to be friends with, but like before, they never listen to her. The girls act almost as if Emeline isn’t even there, like she doesn’t even exist. Emeline doesn’t want to let them go, she’s been their best friend for years, why would she suddenly just loose all that! Slowly throughout the year, although it is hard for her, she tries her very best to forget about all that happened, move on from her old friends, and try to make new ones. Days turn to weeks turn to months and Emeline has been much happier and has gained some new friends, her life is finally flipping! One day, out of the blue her former friends Bailey and Ava approach Emeline and try to talk to her. The girls tell her that they’re sorry and want to be back with her again, that they miss her. It is pretty tempting for Emeline to say yes, after all, they used to be her best friends, and she wants it back. This is an important decision in Emeline mind, it could change a lot for her to go back to how her life was, so she takes a while to think about it. Her old friends start to get impatient with her, and even a little bit angry for not accepting them quickly enough. Emeline decides that she doesn’t want to be treated like that ever again, and the way the girls got angry really settled it, she was never going back to them. She does feel sad for a while, since she knows she’ll never have those friends back, but she does know how bad that were, and in the back of her head she knows that it was the right decision to say no
