Veil Durchdenwald ~ 1st Year ~ Hufflepuff

Veil was born in Aachen, Germany, on August 25th, 2012. He'd only stayed in Germany for five years, until the schooling age of six became a concern to his parents. Homeschooling is frowned upon in Germany, and his parents weren't about to have him educated with muggles. Fortunately, he'd have grandparents--that were of course wizards--back in England from his mother's side of the family. They'd move to Norwich, England to home-school him. He'd have most of his childhood within Norwich, receiving home-schooled teaching of the wizarding ways from both his parents, but occasionally his grandparents. He'd grown up mainly in Norwich learning of English, his lineage, and what future he had in store for him. His family made as much effort to keep his life within the magic atmosphere as possible, all the way until he'd finally received his letter. He was raised strictly, but carefully. His parents love him too much to watch him fail.

The Durdenwald surname comes from his father's ancestors that has been passed down since the beginning of his lineage. It's traced back to a long history of tricksters, somewhat known for their mastery of everything potions, jinxes, hexes, and charms. For obvious reasons, this side of the family has always been left alone. However, the other side of his family's lineage holds a more familiar line of history.

The Warnes Lineage: From the very beginning, the Warnes had always been well known for their mastery in healing magic. They've consisted mainly of a long line of doctors, nurses, and healers in general. This would include Veil's grandparents from his mother's side.

Mia and Noah Warnes, parents of Veil's mother, love her too much to do anything that would upset her, so they've never pressured her to inherit the family legacy- But of course insisted she'd already earned the spot. They spoil Veil whenever they can, but also suggest to him on taking a healer's path of magic.

Ludwig Durchdenwald, father of Veil, strayed away from his own Durchdenwald lineage. He avoids al contact with his own ancestors. He finds his family's focus on a line of trickery a joke. Though he admires his parents' way of teaching, he finds their reason an outdated, tasteless gag.

Taylor Durchdenwald, mother of Veil, followed the Warnes lineage as a healer. She's a master of healing potions and herb medicines, but also familiar with healing spells. She works as a doctor for the wizard world, oftentimes found treating injuries for any official magic events, such as Quidditch games.

He grew up being well aware of the social hierarchy in the magic world, so he avoided making muggle friends. Being home schooled and lacking the social skills to make them also didn't help; So Veil didn't really bother to have any friends. The closest friends he had were two wild ferrets he'd run into when he'd go outside.

No, Veil never cared for much about the magic world hierarchy, but he's always held himself to a high degree as a pure-blood. He doesn't understand completely why the "social hierarchy" is so important, but he wants to avoid being an embarrassment. He lacks a lot of confidence in himself and his abilities. He's very quiet at first, but once he's grown fond of someone, he's more talkative. He's a good listener, but has a horrible memory. He's straightforward, but is quick to be very panicked and disorganized if he thinks he has or will offend someone. He can't tell a lie, at least not for long, and don't count on him keeping a secret either. He wants friends, he just doesn't know how to make them yet.

Likes: Writing, ferrets, classical/quiet music, and origami. Visiting the library and reading/books. Closed areas (preferably three directions block, one opening), such as closets, under a bed in the corner, etc.

Dislikes: Anything sports/active, failure, crowded areas, and fighting/arguing. Cats, loud sounds (especially car horns), and winter.

He's interested and excited to learn more about how to be a stronger wizard, but also muggle-born magic users.

When he was nine, he'd been out for a walk to find a natural place to write, something to inspire him. However, while crossing the street, a driver wasn't paying attention, and had kept driving towards Veil as he crossed the road. The driver noticed him too late, still blaring the horn as he was a few feet away, and slammed on the brakes. Veil panicked. He looked away, holding up a hand as if it would protect him from the metal box, preparing for the impact- But it never came. The car stopped completely. In an act of shock and fear, Veil ran away back home, explaining to his parents in a mess of words what had happened. After the incident, his parents took it upon themselves to go with him on his outings to ensure there wouldn't be another incident. If anyone ever accused them, they would deal with them carefully.

After that, there were a few less.. exciting incidences at his home with accidental magic (accidentally igniting papers to flame, levitating small objects, etc), which his parents were excited to see, but also warned him to be focused more on being careful as it is illegal.
