Winter Chronicles PV Aurelia Bezuidenhout

Emma's eyes widened frantically as she witnessed Aurelia pull her wand out, afraid of the damage she could potentially cause with that thing. She was still on the ground, and her enemy still had the advantage on her; it was easy enough to step on her face or even worse, her stomach causing her to throw up quite a bit of the dinner she had already consumed. The only spell she begged her to cast was incendio. It was fairly easy to extingiush and there was always the slightest chance that the book would catch on fire if she was quick enough. Knowing her luck, that probably wasn't going to be likely, so she bit her tongue.

One thing was for sure; she wasn't going to let Aurelia have the book, even if it injured her.

Mierda. She thought silently to herself as she clapped a hand over her arm, little droplets of blood oozing on to her palm. She was going to have to do something regarding the brown diary eventually, before Aurelia took off for the castle. Instead of drawing her own wand, she stood up clutching her arm for a moment, then reaching for the diary. With her undamaged arm, though it was much weaker than her right arm, it was still enough before she decided to use both. It was a bad idea, but she didn't really have a choice. Well, none that seemed to match her personality. There was no way she pictured herself giving up the diary to Aurelia after she'd put up a fight about it, it just didn't seem like the kind of thing she'd do.

"Come on! You haven't let me have my fun," the mischievous girl said, her voice covered with sarcasm. "Just wait till you've seen what I wrote down." She smirked, though her eyes remained solely on the journal of Raphael. A few pages were noted with her bold handwriting, some in cursive because she simply felt like it, the ones without her writing had received her mercy. For now, at least. Emma was completely focused. Her mind didn't dare to wander off, she hadn't thought about the Gryffindor's adoption process, she hadn't even thought about the loss of her brother.

"Just LET it go Aurelia," Emma roared, her grip fighting the spell as she pulled it with force.

The helpless skin under the wrath of her nails began to give in, peircing Emma’s skin and drawing out crimson red liquid. A little bit of the blood dripped on to the white snow staining it’s beautiful color to dark red. Aurelia saw this opportunity to take the book in her own arms. However, Emma was quick to recover and heaved herself up as well as knocking her down in the process.

A split second later, she had her fingers on the book once again. The book that was now up in the air from the spell. No. Panic filled her yet again. Dread and desperation could be seen in her eyes that contained nothing but fury mere minutes ago. Now that she had it in her grasp, Emma could do anything she wanted with it. She had already written on it.

Yet undaunted, Aurelia raised the wand at her. Emma had the power of the precious diary while she had the advantage of a wand. “He doesn’t belong to you.” She gripped tighter onto the cherry wood wand as she said the words with her voice dripping with venom.

Aurelia had used him. The book’s name was Raphael, the name was engraved in huge letters on the leather cover page. Every bit of Raphael’s life was in the book, it had event surprised Aurelia how he could write so well and diligently at such a young age when she had first flipped through the book. The book was her Brother, all that is left of him. So pronouns of He and Him shall be used.

Emma’s determines eyes remained dangerously on the leather backed book. The book was at her mercy. Still, stubborn the Ravenclaw was. If anything happened to Raphael, if she dared to rip it, Aurelia would kill her. An eye for an eye, a life for a life. To Aurelia, Raphael lived the rest of his life in the pages of a book and so she would do anything to protect it.

You let go! I clearly have an advantage!” Aurelia could feel the rage slowly returning. She wasn’t afraid to use a spell.

Aurelia's words seemed to confuse her a bit as she snuck a glance at her wand, dauntless and daring as ever. She had referred to the journal as if it were a male. Weren't diaries more commonly known to rest its business with feminine teenagers. To be honest, Emma was a bit surprised the Gryffindor didn't possess a diary herself with all the constant drama she put up with in her family. Maybe it was because she simply didn't have the time. Her doubts weren't exactly going to stop her from finding out.

"I didn't know 'diary' was masculine in English." She joked, her grip on the book turning the tips of her fingernails paler than her skin tone. Out of the side of her eye, she saw the pure white snow now tainted with her blood. Her blood. Little drops of it scattered, a dark red spot where it the blood continued to ooze from her injured arm.

The name was just a name, nothing more than what she chose to make it. If she wanted to turn his name into a book of memories they shared, that was her choice, but she hadn't made a promise to stay out of her personal life. After all, what was she supposed to do when she continued to bump into her, especially at a time like this.

"Yes, Aurelia, you clearly have the advantage, but if you think I'm going to let go, I suggest you stop waving around that wand of yours. We wouldn't want anything, or one getting hurt. I wouldn't be the one to cast a spell if I were you." Emma said dangerously as she shrugged halfheartedly, her left, now stronger, hand now stabilizing the book as her right hand fingered the pages of the journal. With a small smile, she forcefully ripped out three pages without a proper answer to emit from her mouth. A pain shot up her arm and somehow, to her shoulder. It was simply a small price to pay. If those forgetfulness potions weren't helping her lose small parts of her memory, maybe a few lost pages in the book would help. She wouldn't have to remember the times she had with her brother, heck, she didn't have to remember her very own brother for all she cared.

"I dare you, Gryffindor." Emma said, looking at the tip of her wand, then up to meet her eyes.

Threatening and spitting out words were hopeless strategies to get the book back. Emma wasn’t giving in so neither should Aurelia. Aurelia knew that and therefore kept her wand raised at the other girl. It was as if the Ravenclaw was a vague reflection of her person, undaunted yet glowing with both stubbornness and determination. Emma stated she wasn’t letting the book go unless she lowered her wand. But that was simply not happening for if Aurelia did, she’d have lost to the Ravenclaw.

The girl let out a screeching gasp one that made blood curd as if she had been stabbed as she watched the ancient few pages torned from the spine of the book. Not only did Emma crossed the line, she had leaped, tumbled and made a dramatic entrance into her own personal life without a care in the world.

The brunette could not explain the feelings she felt at that moment. Anger, desperation, sadness and many more all at once. But one thing she knew, she had enough with playing the Ravenclaw’s games. She was going to get the book regardless of hers or Emma’s well being. Emma dared her and so she would choose to accept. She was foolish to challenge a Gryffindor.

Slugus Erecto!” there was another scream that echoed through the deserted snowy grounds. With that much fury she felt, it fueled the want to cast the spell and a bright green light brusted from the tip of her wand.

Emma's wand stood safely inside of her pocket, swaying with every little movement as she moved. She didn't dare to draw it for self-defence, for she had learned the first time. Instead, she watched as the beam of green light struck the patch on skin beneath her chin. Giving one last look at the Gryffindor, she forced the journal into icy ground, keeping her feet placed on the ground. Needless to say it was struggling to keep her balance, she took her eyes off the Gryffindor only to look down at her unsteady feet.

With the release of Aurelia's former spell, she made sure to take advantage and destory 'her' possession even more. So what if she was on the verge of vomiting slimy slugs, she was going to pay. And that was a promise.

A sudden dryness in her throat suddenly appeared, as if she was allergic to the green light that emerged from her wand. In an instant, the sensation was gone. Replaced by the same runny texture of throw up, she tried her best to resist puffing up her cheeks. It was best to let the slimy creature run from her body, it was best for both of them.

"Vete a la mierda, Aurelia!" She forked out of her mouth, rather bitterly, yet another slug erupting from her mouth. The spell was going to last a while, and there was no way that she was going to track the animals back into the castle of Hogwarts.

Being a prefect was starting to wear on Anastasia. She was still on top of her studies and friendships and all that, but it was bloody exhausting for the eleven-year-old. Her holiday had been anything but restful, and she'd come back to school even more tired than before. That was why she was so grateful for the other prefects. Back for when she was first a prefect, she'd been determined to do everything on her own. She'd discovered that wasn't the best idea. So, after coming back from break, she'd resolved to get to know the other prefects better and figure out how to work with them better.

That was what she was doing at that particular moment in time - getting to know one of her fellow prefects. Her current companion was Alexx Helm of Slytherin. Anastasia quite liked the blonde and hoped that the two of them would get to know each other a bit better. As she spoke, she heard raised voices and some rather unpleasant language. "Duty calls?" she said, glancing at Alexx before continuing towards the sounds of voices. As she came closer, it became evident things were far worse than Anastasia had originally thought, and she was quite glad she wasn't alone in catching the fight.

"Excuse me, ladies!" Anastasia said, her voice firm and authoritative as she quickened her pace to reach the other two girls. Honestly, did nobody have any manners anymore? "First off, that language is unacceptable, especially directed towards other students, and secondly, what on earth are you doing, dueling on school grounds? You should both know better." Anastasia recognized the Gryffindor and a small, spiteful part of her rejoiced in Anastasia's happening upon the fight. Aurelia and Anastasia, suffice it to say, didn't exactly get along. "There's really only one thing to do." She glanced at the other prefect to make sure that she was approaching this correctly. Sure, Anastasia was a prefect a tiny bit earlier than Alexx, but Alexx had been at Hogwarts longer and Anastasia was going to defer to her on this.

DETENTION INTERACTION
Alexx stood tall and proud, her eyes glistening slightly. Ana was next to her, as the two had become quite acquainted these past few weeks. Working together credited to that, she supposed. She didn't mind the company, especially from someone who had a like mind to her own, in her opinion. It gave her something to do when she wasn't busy with whatever task she was busying herself with these days. Of course, it was an interesting duo that walked the grounds that day, as others might not see the two as potential friends. It was true, the two had dynamics, but it worked.

Just as the French girl opened her mouth to interject, she was cut off by harsh tones. Two female voices echoing not far from the prefects were audible, and neither of them sounded like they were happy. It struck Alexx by surprise, as she often found the grounds quiet. Then again, this wasn't a day where she was scouting trouble. Naturally, this was a coincidence. She grunted. How typical it was to be caught in this on a day she least expected it. Of course, she didn't naturally anticipate arguments. They just fell into her lap whenever they so pleased, as many do. But she quickly remembered that this put Ana in a similar position, given that they had the same role. Rolling her eyes, she turned her heels sharply, starting towards them. How typical this was indeed.

As she approached the two, she could spot the slugs that were emerging from the Ravenclaw's mouth. She could easily recognize the two- Emma and Aurelia. The French girl knew that this feud dated back to their first year, as she had been involved at one point herself. She pinched the bridge of her nose, already over it. Allowing Ana to speak first, she followed shortly with, "Honestly, you two. Is this really how we have chosen to spend the day? Well, now you will be spending one in detention, which isn't much better." She sounded stressed, and to be fair, she was. She sent a reassuring nod to Ana. "Yes, indeed."

Though Alexx had only been a prefect for a short time, she was familiar with the rules of the game. It was simple, behaving wasn't an issue. Or so she thought. But she realized that you view the world differently when you become a prefect. You can see the little things that were insignificant before. Alexx was no stranger to this change of vision. It came with the package, though she wasn't complaining. The little badge that she wore made it worth it at the end of the day, and reminded her that this was the job that she desired. "Well, I suppose all that is left to do is assign one to the both of you. And perhaps escort Ms. Hill to a professor... But maybe a bucket, first, lest you," She stops and shoots a glance at Aurelia. "enjoy mopping up slugs."

It was heart wrenching to see the book trampled under Emma’s feet and in the snow. Aurelia could afford the book to get wet but she waited, watching with her eyes cold as the snow in the ground. It was only a matter of time before she’d be forced to accept the spell’s effects.

A smile grew on her face, one with a shadow cast upon it gleaming with sheer evil as the first slug wiggled its way from the ravenclaws lips. Disgusting it was. Aurelia was about to seize the moment to grab the book when she heard a voice from behind her.

With her wand steady in her grasp, she spun around only to be met with too familiar faces. Great, perfects. What was worse was that she knew them. Anastasia, the Bitch who falsely accused her in one of her articles and Alexx Helm, the daughter of a bloody deatheater. Aurelia slipped her wand back into her pocket. She knew what was coming, another detention. The Gryffindor heaved a frustrated sigh as Alexx began explaining what she had already predicted. Whatever it was, she had still gotten her revenge.

Get you filthy shoe of my book!” she yelled at Emma who was now in a very bad shape. She forced her foot off and took the book back in her grasp. Lifting the book close to her face, she inhaled the nostalgic sent of old parchment, leather and ink before storming back off to the castle, not turning back. Now she just had to wait for another detention with Emma. She swore if Emma spoke a word to her during detention, she might cut her tongue out.

Though slugs continued to erupted from her mouth by the second, Emma remained to keep her balance. Her own blood wasn't going to get the best of her. She was going to make sure of it... at least she hoped so for her sake. With a large fear of blood ever since she'd turn seven years of age, she couldn't stand the sight of it, you could say that it made her hyperventilate from time to time. Why it didn't happen? She didn't know, but enemies brought out the worst and, sometimes, best in people.

She tried her best to push her arms out of sight, placing them behind her back as the prefects arrived. Not one, but two this time. Perhaps next time, three prefects were going to make their appearance on the scene of the crime.

It was needless to say she'd recognized Alexx, but the second Gryffindor student didn't exactly ring a bell. It seemed everyone knew each other except for the Gryffindor prefect and herself, but that wasn't the only thing on her mind. She was going to receive yet again, another detention. Her mind flashed back to her first year in the library involving the two Gryffindors, it was something she didn't want to relive in her future years.

As Aurelia stormed off, the Ravenclaw scoffed and wore a small, though slightly ashamed, smile. "Surprise..." Emma began, clapping her hands together, though her voice faltered. This was going to be a long detention because this time, students were controlling it. She couldn't imagine what Alexx had planned, but she didn't want to find out.
