Encounter: @Lucian Mornstern

Paislee was walking up the stairs to the Owlery, clutching a letter in her hand. She was eager to owl her sister, Maddie, about Hogwarts so far. Paislee was very close to Maddie, and hoped maybe she could offer advice about how to make friends and be more involved at school.

Paislee thought about the mountain of homework waiting for her back inside the Hufflepuff common room. She sighed. Maddie was definitely right when she told Paislee Hogwarts wasn't all best friends and good food.

And thinking about how long it had taken her to master the Dancing Feet Spell made her heart hurt. She never wanted to be bad at anything. At last, she had mastered it and was very pleased.

Paislee sped up her walking, as she needed to get back to do her homework. She reached the steps and scaled them quickly and she entered the Owlery. Dozens, maybe even hundreds of owls were either flying around the room, or perched somewhere.

Paislee selected one of the school owls; a nice, feathery white one. It had beautiful brown eyes and a sharp beak. Paislee had always loved brown eyes.

She tied her letter to the owl's foot and whispered, "This is for Maddie, okay? Thank you."

She watched it fly out into the clear sky. She felt a little homesick then, wondering when she would see her sisters and brothers and family again.

She walked back down the stairs. Down the hall, she could see the boys' bathroom and the girls' bathroom. Paislee kept walking briskly down the corridor, barely slowing down as she turned...

"Ow," he mumbled. He stood up and nearly tripped again. Paislee turned again and saw another boy, whom he was staring at.

Paislee looked up and her eyes widened. A tall boy was standing in front of her. At least a second year, by his looks. Black hair falling across his face, almost hiding one of his big, brown eyes.

Brown eyes.

Paislee tried to open her mouth, tried to apologize, but nothing came out. Suddenly, she couldn't remember her name or why on earth she was up by the lavatories when she needed to be doing her homework. She couldn't remember the last time she'd felt this way. She couldn't remember the last time she'd seen such a handsome boy, one that she couldn't take her eyes off...

And as quickly as they'd collided, he turned the corner and walked past her. And all Paislee could think was, I hope that's not the last time I see that boy.
