The fields were littered with soldiers of the Bore-Dominion. The hot fumes of burned oil and crisped flesh filling the knight's nostrils. His eyes spying the reddened rivers whilst his ears perched to the sound of glittering swords clashing shimmering plate. The knight strode forth with his silver trident. The time had come for a reckoning. As the enemy attacked, all he was left to do was bury his weapon deep in their chests. A swift thrust, one swing and he could practically taste his sweet revenge as he clenched his teeth together.

At least, that's how Hugh allowed himself to imagine an ordinary evening dinner at Hogwarts. The boy was utterly bored to death as he stabbed his silver fork into his meal once more and pushed himself for another bite. He wasn't exactly enjoying the smell of his crispy chicken either but ultimately all he could do was shrug it off. As his gaze darted off to the end of the table, he could've sworn the others felt just as dull as he did today.

As an idea had found its way into the boy's head, a new question emerged. Was Hugh a genius? Historians would have doubted it, looking back years later. But the young Mr. Lowe was surely convinced that his actions had purely been to aid his people. Whatever his intentions had been at the time, they stand documented to this very day.

With the aid of his ever-charming quality smirks, young Lowe scooped up some mashed potatoes with his silvery "trident". The moment had come for action. Now was the time to strike. The hour of war was upon them. Hugh carefully placed the fork over one end of his arm, handle sticking up. His target? Unknown. He was certain his aim would strike true.

"Catapults! Knock! Aim! FIRE!"

With one swift blow on the table from his free hand, his fork flew up. A small piece of mashed potatoes soaring through the sky, ready to meet its final destination. As if in slow-motion, Hugh's eyes trailed the food's trajectory with a broad grin. "Let the games begin."

A cheeky grin answered the smirk from the boy prefect, as the second year at the end of the table mustered up the bravo to smirk back. It was a pathetic attempt at a smirk, but in truth, Eris was pleased. Her day had been boring, and dinner in the Great Hall seemed to be even more of a boring affair than usual. It seemed that other children had noticed the boring atmosphere of the Great hall. The first year prefect had retailed against the boredom in a way that was eerily Gryffindor-like. Eris was fairly sure that there was no other house in the school that had such an amazing way to bond, and had the bravery to start a food fight.

She grinned, turning towards her own dinner. Eyes darting down the expanse of table, the second year was able to see the large gap of people. Rhea was nowhere to be found, although, Eris would have liked to pour something on Rhea’s head. Rhea had blonde hair now, which had been quite a shock. Eris would like to see what Rhea’s hair looked like, dirty. Would the blonde turn brown? Just Eris’s luck that she was nowhere to be found. Max wasn’t there and Dorian had just...died, seemingly. Crossing her arms under the table and tapping her foot with a frown, Eris’ eyes narrowed out the playing field. There were so many first years. So bloody many of them. Why were there so many first years? There hadn’t been nearly as many first years when Eris was a first year. Besides, most of the gryffindor first years (current second years) from Eris’ year had left the school. Which, quite honestly, was to be expected after all the trials last year.

Coming to school, Eris had just wanted to learn magic. She had never envisioned fighting masked figures, falling off of a broom a ridiculous amount of times, and watching a bunch of yellow robed people and a forest burst into flame. With all those incidents in mind, Eris knew that students who had left the school shouldn’t be blamed or chargined, but it felt decently horrid to watch all the familiar faces slip away, until Eris could hardly remember those who came before her second year.

Those who had stayed were special. Truly brave, truly loyal, truly smart, and truly cunning. Those who represented their Hogwarts houses perfectly, and weren’t going to leave Eris in the dust. Those people mattered most, even more than the new first years, or the food fight. Turning her head to the side and attempting to look for a friendly face at another table to chuck food at, Eris found nobody.

Fine. This would have to be an inner-house arrangement. Picking up her spoon in one hand, Eris used her other hand and stuck it straight into the abyss of potatoes. Wincing at disgusting feeling of mashed potatoes, Eris piled the food onto her spoon and loped the potatoes into the air, watching them splatter on the table.

Wielding her spoon like a catapult, Eris threw another round of potatoes at the first year prefect. Hugh, wasn’t it? “I could do this all day, first year! Come on, aim better!” She grinned, clearly teasing.

A challenger! The boy's eyes beamed up with excitement. He was sure he had seen her face somewhere, yet could not recall hearing her voice before this encounter. Which meant she was still an unknown target to him. At the very least he could assume she was up for a bit of fun. A devilish smirk answered her taunt.

He considered loading up his fork with another round of potatoes, yet quickly figured he should change tactics. If he was to win this, he'd have to bring in the big guns. With a firm grip he took hold of a large spoon that had been stuck in a thick, brown sauce covering some meat he probably would have liked. As a matter of fact, he let his other hand run a finger through the bowl and gave it a taste. He gave the food an impressed look before swinging the blob of sauce in the girl's direction.

Without any hesitation he gave her a surprise gift along with it. A dark grilled sausage followed the sauce soon after as the boy shouted behind it: "Have some meat with it, tastes great!" He triumphantly took hold of his goblet and took several large gulps, some of the liquid dripping on his uniform. As he sighed in satisfaction he grabbed his plate and held it up just as one would hold a shield. "ready when you are girl!"

His broad grin smiled back at him in the plate's reflection. Now things were turning interesting. He grabbed another sausage and bit down hard before munching loudly. Perhaps it was a bit of a shame to throw around such delicious food. But no one said he couldn't enjoy it while he was manning the catapults. His eyes took a peek over his plate to see if there was anything incoming. Constant vigilance was required in a war after all. Almost as important as a full belly, he thought as he grabbed another sausage.
