Sorting Ceremony 2023-2024

Finally, after so many hours of travelling in the Hogwarts Express, I've reached at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The moment I've been curiously at the same time, eagerly waiting had been arrived. Im the first witch in my family but since I've heard alot about Hogwarts through the ride from Hogwarts Express, the houses were just partially new. They told me that each house had each characteristics. Inwas hoping to get Gryffindor, the brave and courageous house. I knew that that's where I belonged.

I reached at the great hall and saw a bunch of first years waiting to get sorted to thier houses. They all were excited, just like me. After a several names, I heard they call out "Nahan, Nina" I was worried and excited. I prayed so hard to get Gryffindor.

I sat on the chair and felt the hat om my head. I got really worried at first. I whispered to myself to put me in Gryffindor. All i thought about at that moment was to be in Gryffindor and have great friends. I hate no houses but Gryffindor is what I wished to have. A few seconds later, i heard the hat say "Nina, huh? Mhm I can see where you belong. You are good in Ravenclaw as well as Gryffindor. Lemme see. Aha, got a lot of bravery and courage more than intelligence. I know where you belong. Better be in... GRYFFINDOR I was soo happy to hear that. Me, in the house i wished to be!! I heard a whole lot of cheers from the Gryffindor Table. I ran towards the table and sat with them.

The day had been too long for Gyda's taste. Her 'social battery', as people apparently liked to call it these days, was thoroughly drained. She didn't necessarily hate people, but their presence was exhausting, especially in unfamiliar environments. Truth be told, Gyda had begged her mother not to make her go. However, after several talks with her grandmother, Gyda had seen the use and purpose of going to a proper wizarding school. So, the dutifully shopped in Diagon Alley and packed her bags, before she jumped aboard the Hogwarts Express.
On the train she found an empty compartment. Not for long, though. Some older students, that almost missed the train, filled up the empty spots in her compartment shortly before leaving the station. They barely spoke to Gyda, to her relieve, but they did ask her her name and asked her what house she thought she might end up. "Slytherin," she had answered coldly. Same as both her parents. The students where apparently from Slytherin themselves, and sounded excited over her possible joining them. Gyda had just absently nodded at them, before diving back in her book.
Now, she finally stood in the Great Hall, where she would find out where and with whom she would spend the rest of her school carreer. The hall itself was truly mesmerizing. Gyda was in awe. However, as soon as the Sorting Hat started calling names, she became more and more nervous.
"Gyda Delaney," it called eventually. The hall fell silent again, after cheering for the last person that had joined Ravenclaw. All eyes were focussed on the small crowd of unsorted first years waiting before the dais. Gyda averted her eyes as she approached the hat. She loathed the silence and the constant awareness that people were watching her. She took a seat, and inspected her hands as the hat was placed on her head.
She heard the Sorting Hat murmur on top of her head. It seemed as if it was struggling to make a desicion. Gyda had no preference, no expectations when it came to a house.
"
GRYFFINDOR!" It suddenly yelled.
The table of Gryffindor started cheering loudly. Gyda had no idea how she ended up in this esteemed house, but she was somewhat relieved. A new wind, a new path, in her family's history would be great. Gyda kept an awkward smile plastered on her face, as she approached her fellow Gryffindors.

As I stepped off the train, finally arriving at Hogwarts, I held my breath. I'd be here for the next.. Dang it, I forgot it again- Oh, well, whatever. I'll be here for awhile- I'm excited, but also very terrified. If the other kids think I'm weird, I will definitely faint faster than an unprepared person foolishly pulling out a matured Mandrake- Wow, even I find my rants annoying in my own head-

As I entered the hall, I couldn't help but stare in awe. Magic was nothing new to me, to an extent, but this.. It was magnificent. I'd never seen so many candles in my life. As the ceremony progressed, I'd listen intently to every word, mouthing the words back to myself in hopes to remember everything for later. As the last line was sung from the sorting hat, I felt my body freeze, ice creeping up my back.

As the students were dropping like flies--metaphorically, that is--I couldn't help but feel more and more uneasy. I don't really hope for anything. I don't have that foretold for me. I'd accept any house, any house but Slytherin, that is. That house.. I would be squashed before the first week has ended- Besides, I wouldn't fit in with them, anyways. I should be safe.. Hopefully- If.. I-if I were to be.. one of them, it would be fine still, wouldn't it? I would just.. Oh, for-

"Durdenwald, Veil."

I found my own name being called to snap me out of my thoughts. Slowly, I made my way towards the front. The sorting hat is known for its peculiar characteristics.. One being frightful, or so I've heard, and I understand why as I find myself underneath it.

As the fabric touched my head, I couldn't help but jump a little. All eyes were on me, my heart practically bursting from my chest- Overwhelming was an understatement.

"A little jumpy are you? Certainly not a Gryffindor, then, hm?" A brief chuckle, "Not an ounce of cunning or mischief in your body.. You lack the wisdom and wit of a Ravenlaw.. Ah.. But.. Always working hard for something.. Though, you don't look like it.. I know where you stand." There was a short pause, before the hat spoke again, "Better be, Hufflepuff."

With that one word, it felt like I was finally free. I could breathe again. I let out a breath as I quickly sat at the table I was directed to, the area where my fellow Hufflepuffs were placed. A house that I will hopefully find someone to stop me from living in this unfamiliar school alone. I really, really don't want to face this alone.

My plan? Avoid any conflicts. Fights, bullies, anything that could be trouble- I will avoid. I will work harder than I have ever in my life, because I.. I am pure-blood. Failure is not an option, it was never an option for me. I'll find my people, they will help me, and everything will be fine. I've made it here, and I won't lose my grasp on my future.

I won't fail as a wizard, I won't.

"If you get lost.. You'll be found. I'll find you, alright?"

Isabelle Clark had always heard stories about the Hogwarts Express, the Great Hall, and the magic of the Sorting Ceremony. But experiencing it firsthand was entirely different. From the moment she stepped onto the platform, she felt a mixture of exhilaration and apprehension. The sounds of exhilaration and anxiety were near palpable, Isabelle wasn’t particularly bothered by social maelstrom, but the weight of family expectations loomed large over her. The Clarks were known for their prowess in magical arts, and many had been sorted into Ravenclaw, her own anxiety now deciding to rear its head. But Isabelle, with her adventurous streak, had always felt a pull towards Gryffindor, if she had to be honest with herself.

Finding a seat on the Hogwarts Express was easy enough; she shared a compartment with a lively group of first years, each sharing their hopes and aspirations. Isabelle listened more than she spoke, taking mental notes about her future classmates. They laughed, shared snacks, and before they knew it, the train had reached Hogwarts.

As the Sorting Hat began its ritual, Isabelle felt her heart racing, the growing anticipation mounting like a volcano that was ready to explode. The grandeur of the Great Hall, with its starry sky ceiling and the four long house tables, was breathtaking. Each name called, each cheer from the tables, brought her closer to her moment, closer to the beginning of her own path that would one day be shared amongst family members like those before her.

"Isabelle Clark," the voice echoed in the vast hall.

She took a deep breath and walked forward, aware of the many eyes on her but choosing to focus on the hat that would decide her fate. As it was placed upon her head, she felt a rush of memories and emotions.

The hat took its time. It whispered considerations of her wisdom and potential for Ravenclaw but also recognized her bravery and zest for life. After what felt like hours but was only a few moments, the hat made its decision.

"GRYFFINDOR!"

A roar erupted from the Gryffindor table, welcoming her with open arms. Isabelle beamed, her heart light but pulse racing. She had found her new home, her new starting point, one that promised adventures and challenges she was more than ready to embrace. As she took her seat among her new housemates, taking in the moment as she greeted her new companions.

The end of one chapter brings about the anticipation of the next. I'm so excited. I wonder how my parents will react to the House I'm in.
Sorting Ceremony 2023-2024
Anxiously, I waited within the sea of fellow students, every heartbeat pounding in my chest. It was my moment, the Sorting Hat's decision awaited. My brother, James, sat at the Gryffindor table, lost in the bustling crowd. I yearned to join him, for a familiar face in this new world would be a comfort, but I also held a deep yearning to be placed in Hufflepuff, embracing its values.

My mother, a Ravenclaw, and my father, a Slytherin, had instilled the respect for all houses within me. I couldn't deny the allure of Gryffindor, the warmth of Hufflepuff, the intellect of Ravenclaw, or the ambition of Slytherin. Each had its own unique appeal.

Then, it was my turn. "Lavander, Starletter," the professor called. With trembling steps, I approached the seat. The Sorting Hat descended upon my head, its ancient wisdom probing my thoughts. The world blurred around me as I anxiously awaited its decision.

"SLYTHERIN!" The Hat's words rang in my ears, followed by a cascade of cheers from the Slytherin table. I had joined the house of cunning and ambition. It was a new year, a new chapter in my magical journey, and as I sat down at the Slytherin table, I couldn't help but feel excitement for the adventures and friendships that awaited me in my new house.

ᴘʟᴀᴄᴇ. Great Hall
Sebastian stood timidly in the crowd of first years, looking around and taking in the sight of the enchanted ceiling of the great hall. His parents told him of the floating candles and charmed night sky, but seeing it for himself was amazing. He let his eyes wander across the room, students of all ages in their respective house table, professors lined up at their respective seats, and the headmaster of Hogwarts standing tall in front of them, making his speech with the sorting hat placed on a small stool on the side.

Most of his fellow first years went ahead and were sorted before him, each one filling his insides with overwhelming anxiety. His dad and mama told him that it didn't matter which house he was placed in, that they were happy regardless of the results, but he was still nervous for what was coming.

It seemed like only a second passed before the headmaster called for his name, beckoning him to take a seat in front of the whole school. Sebastian's legs were shaking as he stepped forward and unsteadily sat down.

The sorting hat weighed almost nothing when it was placed on his head, though he could feel it move as it decided on his house. He closed his eyes and focused on his breathing, something he and his mama practice everyday when his feelings are getting big. After a beat of silence, a loud voice boomed in the room:

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

Sebastian sighed out a long breath, slumping down like all the strings connected to his limbs were cut. A wide smile stretched across his face as he hopped off the stool. Cheers filled his ears and hands patted him on the back when he approached his house table.

Sebastian was worried over nothing and now he felt like he was on top of the world!

The young redhead smiled as she looked around the magnificent hall, her eyes sparkling with wonder at the floating candles and rows of students. The neat rows of Red, Yellow, Green and Blue reminded her very much of a rainbow and she couldn't help but beam at the thought. As each student was called forward and placed into their respectful houses, a sense of dread washed over her. What house would she belong to? Was she brave like the Gyrffindors? Cunning like a Slytherin? Or perhaps Loyal like a Hufflepuff? She thought to herself, going through each houses traits before her eyes settled on the deep blue and bronze of Ravenclaw. She felt a sense of serenity as she watched the students whisper to each other, books and parchment littering the table as they talked.

Just as she was watching the Ravenclaws, her name being called drifted into her ears. She turned towards the sentient hat nervously, her hands shaking slightly as she approached the stool and sat. The hat was placed onto her fiery locks and she gasped gently as she heard the croaky voice in her head.

Well well what do we have here..Rosemary's daughter. Your mother was a powerful Slytherin you know. Perhaps you would do well there and follow in your mothers footsteps..
No, I see something different in you. A thirst to prove yourself and become an intelligent young Witch. You have determination and intelligence, far more than children your age. Better be..

"RAVENCLAW!"

Chrysanthe let out a breath of air she didn't realise she was holding as her tie turned a brilliant blue. She smiled happily as she made her way over to the Ravenclaw table, pats and congratulations met her as she joined her fellow Eagles. This was where she belonged.

Nellie entered the hall through the great, big wooden doors. She was really taking in every sight, she had barely just arrived and was already amazed by everything she had seen so far! Nellies' parents had told her all about Hogwarts and warned her how fast her time will go.
Nellie looked down at the long tables that were able to seat many, many students. She took a seat at the table. She took a look at all the other students that were just arriving with her. She noticed a lot go them seemed to be nervous.
The sorting ceremony had started. Nellie watched each student get sorted to their house in alphabetical order. She had some time to calm her nerves. She basically already knew what house she would get, everyone in her family has been a Slytherin.
It finally got to N's, and it was Nellies' turn to be sorted. She nervously stood up and made her way to the front of the Great Hall. The sorting hat was then placed on her head. It wasted no time before speaking.
"Oh- That was a hard decision," The sorting hat said, sarcastically. "Let it be.. Slytherin!"
Nellie had no idea why she even doubted that she would get Slytherin. She quickly ran over to the Slytherin table to join her new friends.

Just a few more minutes before Dhamathi's name would be called, she would walk up the stage and the sorting hat would be placed on her head. She had been waiting for this moment since the owl post delivered the letter. She spent the days leading up to her departure shopping for school supplies in Diagon Alley, including purchasing her wand, robes, and other necessary items. She learned about the different Hogwarts houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin.

On the day of the departure, she made her way to King's Cross Station in London. She needed to find Platform 9¾. She asked one of the faculties working there but he said there was no such platform. She suddenly heard a man calling out "Come along, the Hogwarts Express is going to leave soon!". She realized that was the train she needed to get on to. She ran up to the man and asked "Could you help me to get on to the train too?". To which the man replied " Sure! You see this pillar which is between Platforms 9 and 10. To get through the barrier to the platform, you'd need to walk straight at the wall with confidence." She does as told and she sees an enormous magical steam train with the words "Hogwarts Express" up front! I board the train and take a seat in one of the train's compartments. On the train, I enjoyed the scenic journey to Hogwarts.

The train ride came to an end at Hogsmeade Station. From there, the first-year students were led to the Black Lake, where they boarded small boats that would carry them across to Hogwarts Castle. She was in her thoughts fantasizing about all the things she could get to do here. She came back to reality when the doors to the Great Hall opened. All the students silently took their places. When the Headmaster finished making his way to the front of the room, he finally introduced himself. “Welcome first-year students. I am Solomon Lear, Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.”

Headmaster Lear then continued his speech during which he talked about the sorting ceremony after being interrupted by the sorting hat in the middle of his speech, the Headmaster continued by explaining how the sorting ceremony would work, introducing us to the heads of the four houses, as well as the Deputy Headmistress, and explaining to us some other housekeeping things.

The sorting hat sang a song about its creation and the sorting began. The Headmaster unrolled a long list of names and began reading them off. I looked around. There were a lot of us first years here, a few hundred probably, and we all had to be sorted. Oh man, this was going to take forever. Hopefully, there were no hatstalls this year. Name after name was read, and time slowly passed by as students were sorted by the sorting hat into their respective houses. At long last, the Headmaster called out my name. "Dhamathi Suresh". As I walked up to the stool and sat on it, I looked at all of the students who had yet to be sorted and felt bad for them, especially the ones whose last names started with a Z, they would be going last. All of a sudden, I heard a voice in my head.

"Ah, Dhamathi Suresh. I see that you’re quite smart, you’d do well in Ravenclaw.” Of course, I love studying! I could join with other people and discuss important topics! “Or perhaps in Hufflepuff? I see you are very loyal and make for an outstanding friend.” True... I do treat people well. "But you desire to prove yourself. You are determined and I see braveness from you." Oh my god! Those are the qualities of Gryffindor! "I have made my decision Dhamathi" Her breath is as still as ice and her heart is skipping beats every second. "You’ll best be in Gryffindor!'

I shook slightly as I heard the hat say the last word out loud; it was quite a jumpscare when the only voice I heard in the last few minutes was inside of my head. ‘Thanks.’ I thought as I stood up and took off the sorting hat before giving it back to Headmaster Lear. I then turned in the direction of my new house and went to the Gryffindor table where I took a seat where the others were clapping for me. I am finally home!

When Alina and Randall swam over the lakes in boats the castle could be seen. It was majestic. But when all of the first years stood before the front doors as they opened, in almost everyone's eyes a surprise or happiness rose.

Alina stood almost at the front of all the first years, so when they walked inside she was one of the first to stop at the doors to the great hall. You could hear chatter and laughs through it. So many voices sounded through, but then they stopped one by one until slow steps coming towards the door could be heard.

The doors opened with a bang, and everyone inside looked right at the bunch of eleven year olds.
¨Hello! I am Solomon Lear, the headmaster of Hogwarts¨ A man with thick grey hair stood right at the door now. Alina was a little shocked so she didn´t notice that everyone was moving forward towards the table where the professors sat. She went down the aisle between the two middle tables, trying to find her sister. She knew her sister was in Ravenclaw, so she tried to find a table where the students were in blue robes, but as she did see the table at the far end of the great hall the first years were already stopped walking.

An old hat had been brought out and it started singing. Something about the 4 houses, but Alina
didn´t listen. She was too busy looking at the professors. Then the hat stopped, and professor Lear took out a parchment roll.
¨Augherty Beatrice¨ A small girl went up to the hat and put it on
¨Slytherin!¨ The hat yelled. Now one by one the kids were being asked to put the hat on their heads. Devina was somewhere on top of that list because not so long afther the first girl the headmaster said: ¨Devina Alina¨

Went up and put the sorting hat on her head: ¨Hmm. You have a sister here. She has a great mind, and I see you do too. But your ambition, you would be great in Slytherin, it would help you rise. You have power. Alright, I´ve decided. RAVENCLAW¨ the table in blue started applausing as Alina went over there and sat in an empty seat.

While Alina sat down, Fyodor had already put on the hat.
¨SLYTHERIN¨ it yelled. Now the Applause sounded from the green table. Alina´s friend Randall got sorted in Ravenclaw too and he sat down next to her.

Alina was in the same house as her friend and sister, she even saw her waving to her during the meal. She was gald that Fyodor wasn´t with them. Atleast it will be calmer without him.
