Amalia never thought she'd see the day where she would look forward to the beginning of a school year. For as much as she enjoyed learning and exploring new subjects, the social aspects that came along with general schooling had never quite drawn her interest growing up. Now that she was on the other side in a teaching position? The sheer level of anticipation for new and returning students had taken her by surprise.

The latest class having already taken their leave for the day, Amalia finds herself tidying up the small stack of parchment displaying the latest homework assignment atop her desk in between classes. The small moments of quiet in between lessons is a welcome reprieve. A time spent gathering her thoughts and reorienting herself for the topic to come. So it's with no small amount of surprise that she turns to find a lone piece of parchment floating into the room. The professor pauses. Blinks in confusion.

It's only when a younger student follows after the parchment a moment later that Amalia reorients herself when faced with the surprise. Having been lost in her own thoughts mere moments ago, she straightens back up and resumes the perfect posture she typically retains as a smile springs forth. Carefully plucking the parchment from the air once it floats close enough, she waits patiently as the tired boy tries to speak. "Of course, I'd be happy to help! Pleasure to meet you, Mr...?" Amalia trails the question off as she peers a bit closer, trying to recall if she recognized him at all but coming up blank. "I assume this would be for me?" She gives the parchment that had preceded the boy a quick shake to clarify. She didn't want to simply pop it open without asking. Just in case.

Axyen in his sleepy state was really trying to do so much as listen, he honestly felt like he could just sleep at any second, but when there came a chance to learn, Axyen couldn't just pass it up. Axyen looks as the professor grabs the piece of parchment, Axyen closed his eyes for a second and then opened them once again, he wish there was a spell, a potion, anything that could just help Axyen with this issue. Maybe a friend of his might know the solution...? While he was deep in thought, slowly drifting closer to sleep, well, as close to sleep as you can get while standing up, he heard the professor speak, causing Axyen to get startled as his expression went to surprise and he jumped slightly before trying to change his expression to as calm as can be.

Axyen thought he actually heard and felt his heart beating quickly, it took a little longer for Axyen to actually calm down, but took less than twenty (20) seconds. "Dr-Dragonclaw...." Axyen sleepily replied to the professor who paused after 'Mr.' and not knowing Axyen's name as Axyen wasn't a third year student and couldn't attend the class until next year, which turned out to be the reason he came here, he wanted to find out how interested he truly was in Runes. Axyen sleepily nodded after professor Rolfö asked if the parchment Axyen levitated into the room was for her. Axyen did hope she read it, because writing and that and generally trying to understand it was not easy and cost Axyen his sleep.

Amalia observes the tired boy for a moment longer with a bemused expression. The drowsiness in his voice as he responds draws out a small chuckle even as the professor makes to flip the parchment open. The runes carefully scrawled across the page give her a momentary pause, her eyes flicking back up from the paper for but a moment to observe the boy before turning back to the runes.

A mere moment passes as Amalia reads before a small, amused smile makes an appearance. "Not a bad attempt at all, Mr. Dragonclaw." She folds the paper back up and offers it back to the boy. "You've got a few different runic alphabets in there, though most don't fully translate with the Latin alphabet so that's certainly fair. But message received." The professor turns and begins to make her way back towards her desk, tidying some of the scrolls and books scattered across the surface as she passes. "Please, feel free to take a seat. I would rather you fall asleep in a chair rather than the floor if it comes to it," she jokes with a small smile over her shoulder.

"And no," she starts, taking her seat at the desk, "you're not interrupting, I was merely sorting through essays. I'd welcome a break, in all honesty. And I always have time for students." Amalia shifts a small bowl of sherbet lemon candies closer towards the middle of her desk. "Help yourself to some candy if you'd like any. Now then. You had some questions for me?" She leans back in her seat and offers the boy an inviting smile and a nod to continue.

Axyen looked up as the professor offered the letter back commenting how it was a good attempt, though most of the runes Axyen picked didn't completely translate with the Latin alphabet, the message was still clear enough to be readable. Axyen slowly stretched his hand out to retrieve the letter back. Axyen suppressed a yawn as an attempt to be respectful although he was very clearly tired which was very obvious considering how he could barely speak properly.

Axyen nodded and took a seat as the professor instructed, though Axyen hesitated for a second, worrying about if he would be able to stay awake and be able to pay attention at the same time. Axyen immediately felt himself wanting to sleep in the chair, but kept his eyes awake, as long as Axyen could keep his eyes open, he would be fine. Axyen was relieved to hear that he wasn't causing any interruption, Axyen happily took a Sherbet Lemon, which seemed to keep him awake for the time being. Axyen looked up as the professor Rolfö remembered that Axyen had a few questions for her. "R-right..." Axyen said, thinking for a moment. "S-so I-" Axyen paused to suppress a yawn. "I-I noticed w-what a-a-appeared t-to be so-some s-s-stories...?" Axyen said, pausing to think. I mean, those do sound like book names.... right? Axyen mentally asked himself for a moment. "Th-that's w-w-what i-it sounded like.... S-so are those-those the k-kind of assignments I-I should expect?" Axyen asked sleepily, closing his eyes for a second before popping them back open. He hoped that his question sounded coherent enough to be understood by the professor, and hopefully it would stay coherent for the duration of this conversation at least.. Axyen decided he would just ask one question at a time, as he began to get ready to write down anything that might be helpful to know, all while focusing on not sleeping.

Axyen suddenly remembered that in a few minutes he would have to check on his Pygmy Puff, Arnold, who was hopefully still sleeping. The Pygmy Puff was loyal and kind, but was also mischievous as well, which could either be amusing, stressful, or sometimes even annoying. Axyen predicted that he would have roughly have time to ask a few questions before he would have to go off to check on his Pygmy Puff, and by time Axyen was done checking on his Pygmy Puff, Axyen would have to sleepily try to get to his first class. Axyen was hoping that Arnold didn't have any plans on creating mischief, Axyen simply didn't want to deal with cleaning after whatever trouble Arnold may cause today. Axyen remembered his notes. I am really off-track today... I need to take these notes first and ask a few questions. Axyen reminded himself, Arnold would just have to hang on for a little bit if he was awake.
