Frozen Tear and Many Fears Finished

Sylvie was always seen as a confident person by everyone at her old school. She was also seen as a nerd since she wore glasses, had many freckles, and was pretty smart, but people were a bit scared of her because she would snap at them. She still acted confident, but she tried to be kind instead of exploding like she used to.

Now here Sylvie was, alone by the lake again. She peered into the lake, which had frozen over due to it being winter. Some snowflakes were caught on her blonde hair, and her nose and cheeks were red.

All at once, a month or two of anxiety came out in the form of tears, and Sylvie’s eyes also started to turn red. Sylvie wiped them away quickly, only to have them replaced with more in their place. They fell onto the snow in front of her, and it seemed like they turned into snow. Eventually, Sylvie gave up, and grabbed her legs with her arms, and went into the fetal position, with her face buried in her knees and her eyes closed.

“I-I miss the boys, Lyla, Crystal, my dad... I miss them all so much... it feels like everyone here secretly hates me... yet everyone’s being so nice. I’m so confused... I miss home...” Sylvie whispered through tears. The boys were her friends at school that, obviously, were boys. Her hands were shaking as she opened her eyes again and looked at the lake, so peaceful looking on the outside, but who knew what was happening inside.

Frozen Tear and Many Fears Finished
Rosalyn often comes to the lake to take in the view. She's always enjoyed nature and today was no exception. It had been snowing recently, but since it had lightened up a bit Rosalyn decided to see the frozen lake. It was cold, but nothing Rosalyn wasn't used too. She did wish, however, that she knew a spell that could keep people warm. However, Rosalyn did have her winter cloak, and she had the hood over her head on so no snow could randomly drop on her head. The last thing Rosalyn needs is to catch a cold and get sick. Along with Rosalyn was a sketchbook. She figured she should bring it along in case anything happens to catch her eye.

When she finally gets to the lake she sees a girl out to the side sitting down. Rosalyn takes notice of the girl's beautiful blonde hair, which is covered in snowflakes. She opens her sketchbook and begins to draw the girl surrounded by snow. As Rosalyn draws, she questions why the girl was in a fetal position, but her lack of common sense made her place the curiosity as nothing serious.

As Rosalyn had just finished drawing the girl's figure, the girl looked up. Rosalyn was a little upset at first that her sketch work had been ruined, but soon threw that animosity aside because it was unreasonable. As she took a closer glance, Rosalyn noticed the girl had tears coming down her eyes. Rosalyn had read books and seen movies of people crying, but she never experienced that feeling for herself. She began to flip to the next page and sketch the girl as fast as possible in order to catch this moment that she's never seen up close before.

Sylvie continued to look at the lake as the sun shone off the surface, making it glisten. Sylvie smiled to herself as she stared at the lake, trying to capture the moment in her memory. "I'm so pathetic.. aren't I?" She whispered, letting the cold tear stay on her face. She clenched one of her fists, feeling her pretty long nails against the palm of her hand.

She continued to look at the lake, then saw something moving in her peripheral vision. She looked over and there was a girl with white hair that seemed to blend in with the snow and red eyes which were looking down at a sketchbook on her lap. Sylvie face turned white, then red in a matter of seconds. "I-is she drawing me...." Sylvie thought, starting to get worried. She saw the girl look over at her, which answered Sylvie's question.

"Hey, you! What are you doing!" Sylvie yelled at her, wiping the tears away and standing up. Sylvie made her way over to the girl and stopped in front of her. She crossed her arms, and her face alone conveyed her anger and embarrassment. She didn't really know what to do. She looked at the snow near her feet because she didn't want to make eye contact with the girl, or even look at her. She didn't know what the girl was thinking, and didn't want the girl to her as 'weak.' How was she going to make sure the girl didn't say anything.

Rosalyn was nearly done with the sketch, she had drawn the girl's basic features for now. She started working on outlining the background, but she heard the girl yell. Rosalyn looked up and noticed the girl was walking towards her. The girl's face was red. Rosalyn assumed the girl was cold since she was sitting in the snow. She wasn't sure why the girl called out to her but she watched as the girl got closer. She looked back down at the sketch for a moment, knowing that she could still finish it as she pictured the girl crying in the snow in her head.

Rosalyn looked back up again at the girl as she was standing in front of her with her arms crossed. Rosalyn could barely make out the expression on the girl's face because she was staring at Rosalyn's shoes. Rosalyn, wanting to talk face to face, went from sitting on her behind to sitting on her knees and scooted right in front of the girl and looked directly up at her. "I was drawing. The scenery of you sitting down in the snow looked beautiful, and I've never seen someone cry before. Would you like to see the drawing?" Rosalyn's voice was as monotone and emotionless as always. She held the sketchbook up to the girl's face, staring right into her light green eyes.

Sylvie was still angry and embarrassed but reluctantly picked up the drawing, looking at herself crying in the snow. Sylvie actually really like the drawing. It had nice coloration, and it was all in all really appealing to the eye. "This is really good..." She said looking it over. It was very beautiful.

Sylvie then snapped out of it and said, "W-why were you drawing me? That's weird and creepy!" Sylvie said, looking at her sad, closed off body one more time before handing it back to the girl. She crossed her arms not knowing what to do again.

The girl didn't really seem to mind Sylvie's obvious embarrassment, but Sylvie thought that was better for her anyways. "Who a-are you?" She asked, wondering who this weird girl was. Sylvie looked her in the eyes now. After a few seconds, Sylvie looked away, furrowing her eyebrows. "D-don't show it to anyone who knows me okay? I don't want them to see me crying." She said, making a bit of a pouty face as she said this.

She looked just embarrassed on the outside, but on the inside, she was thinking so many different thoughts. "She could use this to blackmail me or something, I don't know what she's thinking. Hopefully, she thinks I am strong, no that's stupid she just saw me crying over there and I don't look that strong. It's strange, she doesn't seem to mind that I was crying... Maybe she won't ruin my life..." She thought

Rosalyn's legs were getting cold from sitting in the snow, but she continued to sit on her knees right in front of the girl until she took the sketchbook. Once the girl did, Rosalyn stood up and waited eagerly, even though it didn't show. Rosalyn's red eyes had gotten brighter when the girl said it was beautiful, but they quickly dimmed back down when the girl suddenly yelled. Rosalyn was confused what she did for the girl to yell, so she decided to break down the words of the girls sentence. Rosalyn began defining words like a robotic machine with her bland monotone voice. "Drawing - a picture or diagram made with a pencil, pen, or crayon rather than paint, especially one drawn in monochrome. Wierd - suggesting something supernatural or uncanny. Creepy - causing an unpleasant feeling of fear or unease." Rosalyn then looked at the ground rubbing her chin, thinking about the definitions. She soon looked back up and continued with "I never knew that drawing could be found uncanny, or in this case weird. I also don't recall drawing causing unease as I always feel at ease when drawing." Rosalyn began scratching her head, now confused about whether what she has known about drawing has been a lie or not.

While she was thinking, the girl happened to ask Rosalyn who she was. Rosalyn looked right back towards the girl staring into her eyes and responded with "Rosalyn Jasmine Mairead, first year, house Ravenclaw, born in London, England on December 27th 2007." The random girl soon turned looked away once more. Rosalyn wasn't sure why, maybe something had caught the girl's interest.

Rosalyn stood there watching the girl as she spoke again. "I will try not to show it to anyone who knows you. However, I'm not sure of the people who know you. If you could list them then I shall make sure none of them will know. Rosalyn began thinking again of the girl saying she doesn't want anyone to see her cry. As she began going through all the books in her head, Rosalyn asked "Why would you want no one to see you cry? Hmmm, crying is in most romance books, and since you seem to dislike crying, does that also mean you dislike romantic books? Rosalyn was now confused as ever. She had read a magazine that talked about girls enjoying books based on romance, but here she has found one, from using logical based thinking, that doesn't enjoy romantic books. Rosalyn then questioned the information she had obtained and made a mental note for the future to throw the information from the magazine out of her head.

Sylvie looked at her with a confused expression on her face. "Wait.. what.....?" she said as the girl defined all those words. Some of the fear she had before about being found out seemed to fade. Sylvie sat down next to the girl. "Try to be nice to her Sylvie, then you might find out what this is about." she thought, pulling a blanket out of her bag. "We can both sit on this if you like, it gets cold when you sit in the snow." Sylvie laid out the blanket and sat down, leaving room for the girl to do the same if she wanted.

"My name is Sylvie Maple, and I'm a first-year Slytherin, and I guess a lot of Slytherins know me, but only a few have had a conversation with me. Probably just don't show it to the people in my dormitory, Sylvia Melville." She said, now examining Rosalyn. She didn't seem that unusual on the outside, she looked like a regular student at Hogwarts, but her demeanor seemed different, and also the way she talked to Sylvie seemed different.

When Rosalyn mentioned the thing about romance novels, Sylvie got even more confused. "N-no I like romantic books. I just..." Sylvie thought for a moment. Should she tell this girl about her being scared of what others think of her? Probably not... but what else should she say? "I just.. don't like it when people see me cry, that's all. And earlier you said you've never seen someone cry, how come?" Sylvie shivered in the cold and pulled her jacket tighter hoping that it would make her warmer. She breathed out and a white puff of hot air could be seen in the air for a few seconds.

Rosalyn watched as the girl pulled a blanket out, and laid it out. When offered to sit on it as well, Rosalyn blankly stared at the girl for a few moments like she was processing information. Then as if she had become alive suddenly, Rosalyn jumped up, wiped the snow off of herself, and then sat on the blanket. Rosalyn's legs were already feeling a bit better as they were going to become numb if she continued to sit in the snow any longer.

Rosalyn then closely listened to the girl as she introduced herself. Rosalyn was then informed of who she couldn't show the drawing too. I won't show the drawing to anyone in the Slytherin house." she said. As she finished, she noticed Sylvie was examining her. It wasn't that uncommon to Rosalyn, she assumed it had something to do with her hair or red eyes.

Rosalyn began to listen again once Sylvie began speaking. Rosalyn wasn't quite sure of why the girl didn't want to be seen crying yet, maybe the girl believed it was again weird and creepy. "A strange person." she said in her head. Rosalyn was now confused of if the information she has learned is false or if sylvie is an abnormality to the human species. As she was about to advance further in her thoughts she was asked how she's never seen anyone cry. "By definition, most people would refer to me as a recluse, loner, hermit, or an introvert. I do not know that many people." Rosalyn would hold up 5 fingers in front of sylvie. "I know you, Amanda, Katherine, and my parents. Out of those five I've only ever seen you cry." Rosalyn doesn't know how to refer to Amanda and Katherine so she says them by name assuming that Sylvie would know them.

As Rosalyn sat beside her Sylvie smiled. Sylvie frowned as she shivered more. She was horrible at dealing with the cold. She pulled another blanket out, but this one was for keeping warm and was not for sitting on. She wrapped the navy blue blanket around her and sighed as it made her warmer.

"Thank you, Rosalyn, I appreciate it." She said. Maybe Rosalyn was a nice person, Sylvie couldn't really tell. She hoped she was nice. Who knew, maybe she could even be a potential friend. At this point, all of Sylvie's nerves had seemed to calm so she wasn't as tense as before.

"You only know five people?" Sylvie said, surprised, and her surprise could be seen on her face. Well, to be fair she only knew three people well her first year or two of school, her sister, dad, and mom. Sylvie didn't know Amanda and Katherine, but she assumed they were in their year. Sylvie felt slightly sorry for Rosalyn, which might be because Sylvie was a slight extrovert and hated not having many friends. "Hey, Rosalyn" She looked Rosalyn in her bright red eyes and smiling warmly. "Would you... maybe, like to be friends? So we both have someone to hang out with? I'd love to have another friend."  She offered. It was a little bit out of guilt, but not completely. Sylvie kinda liked Rosalyn's weird way of talking to her, even though she did think it was quite strange. But who knew, maybe Rosalyn found Sylvie strange.

Rosalyn noticed that Sylvie had frowned all of a sudden. As she was figuring out why, she noticed that Sylvie had pulled out another blanket and wrapped it around her. ""Not good with the cold." she thought to herself. Rosalyn assumed Sylvie wasn't good with the cold. Rosalyn herself was used to the cold. The times she would leave her house the most were during the winter.

Rosalyn nodded toward Sylvie after receiving a thank you. She felt that it was unnecessary to respond with "your welcome" as she really didn't do anything that significant. She nodded again when Sylvie had asked to confirm that Rosalyn only knew 5 people. She did technically know a few others, but she had never spoke too them, and they have never spoke to Rosalyn. As she was about to start going through memories, Rosalyn looked towards Sylvie when she began talking again.

Rosalyn had just heard a sentence she's never heard before. For the first time in her life she was asked to be someone's friend. Rosalyn's mind was going into a state of chaos, she didn't know how to reply. Her red eyes would start to get brighter, and so would her ruby earring. Tears would began slowly forming in her eyes. Her jaw would drop just a slight bit, and she would just stare at Sylvie. Her smile had given a new feeling to Rosalyn. Rosalyn wasn't sure what the emotion she had just now felt was. "Happiness? No, this is more then a feeling of contentment." she thought to herself. All the while, she still didn't know how to respond to Sylvie. Rosalyn would just nod her head yes furiously while making a childish-like grunt sound.
