No matter what school you go to, or how old the people are, if you have a noticeable injury, people will ask what happened. It was no different at Hogwarts. Rowan was currently in a wheelchair, sitting at the gryffindor table, trying his best to go unnoticed, though he probably failed and was forced to tell his story for the sake of manners.
Rowan picked at his small portion, fingering the locket around his neck. He currently had a flower crown of marigolds, the little yellow flowers a little more subtle than his usual adornment of roses.
He had missed his set of few friends, and still hated his father, so he was glad to be back. Hopefully he wouldn’t bite someone’s head off though.
He absolutely despised being treated like this. Like a wounded animal that needed to be coddled. And guess what everyone was doing? Coddling him! A glass nearby shattered, spilling it’s contents all over the person holding it.
Rowan swore softly under his breath, and thankfully, in french. He really needed to calm down. The attention and the loud noises were not helping either though. He covered his ears, taking deep breaths, before he continued on his food, praying to every god he knew of that this day would be over soon.

Anyone who approaches him will be able to ask what happened, exc. He’s too nice to tell anyone to go away.

Mitzi fondled with her fingers as she stood near the entrance of the Great Hall. Back at her muggle school, an academy for grades one through eight, she had grown up with her friends and always had a place to sit, and people were relatively accepting there, even if they didn't know you. But here at Hogwarts, where she figured she'd make friends quite easily, she found herself standing alone looking lost, and it was more than a little embarrassing.
She slowly walked down the Gryffindor table, pretending that she wasn't noticing the friends talk amongst one another, probably reminiscing the good and bad moments they had together. Mitzi didn't exactly envy them, she knew that she still had a lot of time to make friends and do things around Hogwarts, but for some reason today she just didn't feel like sitting alone or feeling lonely.
Something caught her eye: there was a boy, maybe her year, who was sitting at a table in some sort of chair contraption. It took her a moment to realize that he was in a wheelchair and immediately wonder crossed her mind. She'd only seen a few people in wheelchairs before, usually it was just something that seemed temporary, like crutches or casts, but she knew that something dire probably happened for this boy to be in a wheelchair, especially a wizard boy.
Mitzi at first cautiously approached the boy, thinking that maybe he wanted space since he was mostly alone and solemn, but then she decided that maybe he was sad because people were treating him like a sad case and not the regular boy who happened to be the handicapped that he was. She casually sat across from him looked first at his plate then at him. "Well, is that all you're going to eat? I think you could do better than that, with all the energy you cook up from wheeling yourself around all day." She gave him a small smile, taking in his flower crown, blue eyes, and overall decent looks. "If you don't mind me asking, why do you wear a flower crown on your head?"

The girl strode into the Great Hall her eye scanning for any potential open seat. She was drained of energy and quite honestly, was lacking the energy for any other activity other than good food and sleeping but first, food. The four great House tables were buzzing with activity as usual, the occasional student roaming about here and there as the prefect made her way to the Gryffindor table smiling at a few faces she had seen in passing. The Great Hall was always crowded, at least to her, that's what it seemed like, it was the area where friends were made, rumours and secrets were spread, she picked that up pretty quickly upon her first day here. She prowled the length of the table seeking out a opening stopping as her eyes landed on a spot. It happened to be next to a most peculiar sight, a boy in a wheelchair, her eyebrow shot up at that, now there was something she had not seen before, she wondered what injury afflicted him though her attention was briefly interuppted by a girl who happened to slide into the very spot she was looking at.Merlin's beard,She thought to herself frowning slightly as she groaned inwardly.
Though that issue was slightly resolved as a seat next to the wheelchair Gryffindor cleared up and she slid in as swiftly as she could. After all, the Great Hall could only hold so many students. She nodded at the two as a greeting, it seemed the converstation was well underway, something about his wheelchair and flower crown, did she say?"I like it."She chimed in glancing up at the assortment of yellow flowers smiling slightly."Yellow, the color of hope and happiness, it means you must be a very cheery person."She remarked. "Elena Jangleton."The girl said introducing herself, after all, no one exactly appreciated a random stranger popping up out of nowhere to make remarks about their appearance and whatnot, she wasn't exactly the greatest converstation-starter but thankfully, the other girl had solved that for her by commenting on his crown. It was quite easy to join after that, a surprise to the prefect given how shy she usually was but everyone had to start somewhere.

Well, at least they didn’t comment on the wheelchair. And they even moved passed his poor eating habits pretty quickly! These people were pretty decent. Though he still missed Miko.
“It’s simply a fashion thing. Merci though, Ms...”
He paused, listening to her name.
“Merci Ms. Elena. Its... well I have a friend in hufflepuff. I missed him so.. yellow. Just coming back from Christmas break and all. I was hoping to see him here but it looks like he took a raincheck today. Besides, I just like the color, and these flowers are smaller than my usual pick.”
There were quite a few people talking to him now, which he didn’t how much he enjoyed. But y’know, social interaction. He could handle it.
Rowan took a bit more food to please the female to his right, though he didn’t actually eat any of it. He should have been hungry but... nope. For some reason his body wasn’t kicking in yet and yelling at him.
That’s the other thing. People looked at him more than they would in a muggle place. They couldn’t cure injuries as well, so they had more people like himself. But here he was one of an uncureable kind. Fun stuff. He’d probably be getting stares for the rest of the year. Rest of his time at Hogwarts, actually, with the amount of newbies coming in constantly.

Mitzi pursed her lips and focused her attention on her food, chewing it slowly. She felt slightly ignored but realized that maybe it was because she didn't introduce herself. After swallowing her food, she said, "I'm Mitzi, by the way. Are you French? I can hear an accent, but I'm not the best with figuring them out." One of her great-aunts were born and raised in France and always told long stories about living there, and everyone could always sense the adoration in her voice. Maybe he also missed it, another reason why he was so sad. Mitzi felt bad for him, it seemed like a lot of things were weighing the eleven year old boy down.
Grinning, she said, "Something my aunt use to say to all of my cousins is 'Je n'en sais rien'...she never told me what it meant. Do you know?" She actually did know what it meant, after looking it up once, but she wanted to know if he knew. She didn't just read adventure books, but also language and mystery ones, just so she could broaden her knowledge. She wondered now if maybe she would actually fit in Ravenclaw.
She glanced at the other girl, waving slightly. She wondered if they'd all become good friends.

All the way from the other side of the room Miko sprinted over to Gryffindor Table, sliding underneath it. The only thing anyone would see is a flash of yellow seemingly flying under the table. In fact, this flash was the 'Hufflepuff friend' Rowan spoke about. The Hufflepuff wasn't taking a rain check, in fact he shoveling food in his face because he was starving. Close enough, right? Either way he was going to visit the other boy no matter what, that's what he did in the Hospital Wing so that's what was going to happen at the Gryffindor Table.
Breathing heavily, he tried to stay as silent as possible as he lay flat on the ground like a carpet. Since nobody seemed to acknowledge him, he gently shook the right wheel of Rowan's wheelchair. Hopefully the boy wouldn't be mistaken for a rat and if he was at least it isn't garbage. That's a strange statement.
It smells under here... Miko thought quietly, slowly looking around at the ground. All he could do now is try to breath as silently as possible and think. He was left with his thoughts and true emotions, quite dangerous really but he would survive. Unless that stench was something deadly. Which it wasn't. Or was it? Here comes the worry... The Hufflepuff boy didn't want to die at a young age.

He let out a small whimper, then slapping his hand over his mouth. There goes the stealth mission, he made a noise. Why did I even go under here, I'm no spy. I'm almost six feet tall for god's sake! Miko scolded himself in his own brain. He could have chosen to praise himself but nah, that's not how his thoughts work, is it? Nope, not at all not even a chance.

“A pleasure to meet you, Ms. Mitzi. I am french, yes. My fathers side. Though to answer your question, I believe you meant Je ñ'en sais rien. It means I do not know. A simple mistake, but a important one.”
Yes, he was being a bit of a nitpick, but if the girl was going to say it, she may as well say it correctly. He gave her a soft smile, before he felt something touch his wheelchair. Or someone in this matter. Though he didn’t know this. Usually he would kick on instinct, but whooptie do. Big surprise, he couldn’t do that anymore.
“Excuse me.”
He said as he rolled back from the table just a bit, adjusting his legs slightly so it would be easier to keep up decent posture. During this little period, he caught a glimpse of Miko. Oh boy.
He quickly rolled back forward, grinning back at Mitzi.
“So your family is somewhat french, yes? Ever thought about learning the language for yourself?”
Changing the subject so he wouldn’t have to think about the boy under the table. He had a slightly pink tint to his cheeks. Good gracious what was he going to do with him.

Miko was listening to the conversation until Rowan saw him. He began breaking into a fit of laughter and crawled out from under the table, sitting across the handicap child. "Halò, Rowan." The Hufflepuff greeted him and took a breath from laughing before taking a croissant from the large platter in front of him. The boy was known as an excessive eater but he just had a huge appetite. Pointing to his head, he waved over the Gryffindor boy.
On top of his messy black hair sat the rainbow flower crown Rowan had made him for Christmas. Miko had a large grin on his face, proud of the present. That was the only present he had gotten Christmas day which was disappointing but maybe it was just late. His other presents would probably be sent in by the family owl, a rugged snow owl named Alec. The poor owl is so used all the time it just got slower through the years. Now Alec is a total of 3 years old, that means about two years and ten months the owl has been used. The ruffled feathers indicated that he was an old owl.
Speaking of owls, in the nick time flew in an owl of that exact description. White with ruffled feathers, and it was clutching a small purple bag that had something or somethings moving inside it. Miko whistled over the owl and it slowly made it's way toward the lad, dropping and raising as it flew across the room to him. Instead of placing the package on the table, the owl fell into the Hufflepuff's lap. Taking the package from his clutches, he pet the owl gently and opened it.
"Chocolate frogs! Whoop!"
Miko tossed one to Rowan but sadly upon opening them, no cards were there. What a disappointment, but at least the boys got a treat to eat! The frog he tossed landed straight on the male Gryffindor's shoulder with a small pat. The Hufflepuff chomped down on one of them as it struggled in his grip then going completely still.

In her head, Mitzi thought, well, excuse me! She had an urge to retaliate and say something petty, like 'well, your accent stinks anyway' but that would've been what a cry-baby would say, and she definitely wasn't one. She remembered how she acted during a family reunion dinner, where all her little cousins were being loud and rowdy, and she sat polite and didn't get angry when they teased her. Her mother has told her that she was growing up to becoming a good witch, which made her happy. Mitzi didn't smile back, but she did say, "Thanks for correcting me, I don't know that much French, even though I see my Aunt Isabeau all the time. She speaks a lot of it, but I don't really want to learn it because I'm probably not going to ever use it...probably."
She thought for a moment then shrugged, about to add something else when she felt the table jolt a little and heard sounds underneath the table. Scrunching her eyebrows together, she was about to look under the table when the French boy beat her to it. He looked back up, blushing a little, and then another boy, a Hufflepuff, sat down next to him. All this time Mitzi had her eyebrows raised.
She was about to add something again, mouth parted to speak, when she saw an elderly owl fly over to their table and drop a purple bag into the new boy's hands. She watched him open it and take out a chocolate frog. She felt her shoulders sag a bit; Mitzi was very allergic to chocolate and she doubted magic chocolate would fair her any better. She'd always wanted to try one, hearing people talk about how delicious it was, but she was too unfortunate to join them.
Looking up at this new kid, she said, holding out her hand for a greeting, "My name is Mitzi - what's yours?" She nibbled solemnly on some blueberry jello, sloshing it around in her mouth.

While still chewing his food he released the owl and it did the same exact this out of the castle. Bounce up and down as it flew, occasionally falling to the ground but getting back up and exiting the building. A girl turned to Miko and asked his name, "Why hello miss. I'm Miko, call me whatever you please." The Hufflepuff boy replied nodding approvingly, turning to a platter of already buttered toast and his took a piece, shoving it in his mouth and quietly chewing the food. Honestly, the lad probably looked like a bloody chipmunk but he didn't mind one bit as long as the food got into his stomach he never cared.
As he swallowed the bread the lad looked back at Mitzi slowly. "Oh don't mind the owl he's an old lad." Miko told her and saw it push the door open to get out. The poor creature.
Even though the Hufflepuff ate like a pig himself so he shouldn't judge anyone else on how they eat, he was judging someone. He found it slightly disgusting to slosh your food in your mouth instead of just plain chewing and swallowing it. Or what the boy liked to do, pack the food in his cheeks and finish eating it bit by bit which might be more gross but it works for him. Normally, he's found hungry so spreading the food out either helps or doesn't because he is always hungry so the difference doesn't show. If there even is a difference at that.
Miko was a weird boy.
He always is.
His entire family is in fact.
A lot of people are weird but he's the leader of the club.
At least Mitzi wasn't being rude which was nice, so far at this school Miko had only met one really rude person.
