Lesson number one : open your eyes and your mind
First week of September
First Charms Lesson
First Charms Lesson
Unfortunately, the Charms class is on the third floor, two levels below the Gryffindor common room. So she had to go down the terrible bewitched stairs. These can actually be fun because it's part of the magic of the castle... but not when you have to go to your first lesson! You don't have to be late or almost late to get noticed, right?
But, as said above, Hailey had to go down those magical stairs and fate seems to be against her today because she was stuck on the stairs, waiting for them to finally stop, for what seemed like an eternity!
Looking at her wrist, realizing that she had left her watch in the dorm, she began running through the halls, praying that she wouldn't be even a second late.
Out of breath, she slips into the classroom, seconds before the door closes. Gosh ! It was tight!
Looking around nervously, she notices an empty seat next to a brunette girl. A brief, worried glance at the teacher who was waiting, leaning against her desk, and the blond didn't feel like she had time.
She really doesn't want to make a bad impression in the first class.
- Hi, sorry, I hope you don't mind, she says softly to the brunette as she slides onto the seat.
Hailey lets out a sigh of relief, stealing a glance at her new classmate.
- How was I afraid of being late! It was tight. My name is Hailey and you?
The brunette girl was dressed like her in uniform and like Hailey, she wore her house color. As red as Hailey's crest was, hers was blue. Ravenclaw, the blonde mentally recited.
@Renelle Dalton Let's go !

Lesson number one : open your eyes and your mind
While Renelle was not an avid fan of the subject by any means, she had to admit, she really liked the Charms professor.
For one, she was really young, barely thirty, and after all those lessons were the teacher looked like they were a few hundred years old, it was a nice change. And she was fun, too, as evident by her unique-looking classroom. The instrument playing skeletons were simply delightful, and the fog was indeed a very nice touch, the girl observed, her cheek rested sideways on her hand.
All this made the Ravenclaw hopeful that this lesson would prove to be… not as boring as she might’ve thought. Who knew? Perhaps she would grow to love Charms. Wouldn’t that be something. The thought made her let out a soft laugh, which in turn caused several fellow first years around her to shoot her alarmed looks. One even scooted her chair further away from the dark-haired girl, like she was going to cast an evil laughing spell on her or something.
She wasn’t discouraged by her peers’ negative reactions. In fact, Renelle preferred it that way- no one to annoy her with cheery greetings and questions during the lesson, and the empty seat next to her meant there would be a lot more elbow room. And her bag took up a lot of space, which would be solved by another seat to put it on.
This was why she was not pleased when the latecomer sat down next to her.
A Gryffindor, to be exact- a blonde girl with freckles and green eyes, who stumbled into the classrooom seconds before the lesson was due to start. Approaching Renelle, she asked softly if the seat was taken, then sat right down without waiting for answer, which kind of rendered the point of the question moot, at least in the Ravenclaw’s opinion.
And here come the overly cheering greetings. she thought sarcastically as the girl started rambling on about how she thought she was going to be late, which, no offence, Renelle couldn’t care less about.
She forced a smile. “I’m Renelle.”Interacting with @Hailey Cochran

Lesson number one : open your eyes and your mind
Her new classmate's simple response leaves Hailey thinking she either sat next to someone very shy or in a bad mood. A remark or an empathetic smile regarding her almost catastrophic arrival? No no, just a first name. But Hailey was not the type to get offended over such a small matter and, wishing to give her neighbor a chance, offered her an engaging smile.
- Alright, delighted to meet you. So, you didn't have too much trouble coming? You Ravenclaws, your common room is... uh... in one of the towers, right?
The blonde wasn't sure which tower it was. However, she was sure she had heard someone say that the Slytherins stayed near the dungeons, the Ravenclaws in one of the towers and the Hufflepuffs in one of the corridors above the Great Hall. These yellows and blacks students are rather well located.
A movement in front brought the Gryffindor girl's attention back to the class. A "Hello !" in enthusiastic French then rings out through the room. The teacher had come forward and starts the class by introducing herself. Miss Fresnel. Hailey, like her comrades, cannot help but detail the young woman in front of them. Rather tall, slim, blonde, youthful with a pleasant face. Her impeccable accent when she greeted them in French indicated that she had at least spent a moment in this country. Which arouses interest.
But what also marked her presentation was a joyful and mischievous humor which could only endear her to her students. In any case, that was surely her intention. She was doing her best anyway.
Well, it was, until she mentioned summer homework, "reading" required before starting the year.
Eh ? What ? But what is she talking about?
Turning a half-stunned, half-worried look at Renelle, Hailey wonders what kind of trouble she had gotten herself into without knowing it.
Damn, if there's a test, I'm done for.
