Second time truly was the charm. At least it wasn't the third. Alyssea raised her wand to the ceiling, her right arm firm when circling above her head. As she did so, she thought about it harder. A dark and thunderous storm cloud, she told herself. The image of black clouds in a big clump formed in her head and she knew that was what she wanted.

Then the thunder.

Alyssea opened her eyes having closed them while thinking about her spell. She grinned and subtly jumped from her spot on the piste. She did it! That storm cloud was going to be one heck of an opponent.

Delainie picked another spell they'd already cast once before. Wasn't it the first spell of the duel for both of them? Nevertheless, Alyssea swerved yet again out of the spell's firing line. I really hope my reflexes are this good on an official match, Alyssea thought. It would be a bummer if she was the first to go down every single match.

Alyssea decided it was time to crank up the pressure. She had played passive for too long, using spells that slowly impaired Delainie's abilities. It was time to throw some real damage.

(At least her strategy worked.)

The duel continued. Delainie, even though her condition fell at a disadvantage, she still tried to push herself. Through discomfort from the previous Tickling Charm, she pointed her wand at Alyssea and cast a Green Sparks Charm. From the tips of her wand, the green sparks were conjured towards Alyssea but it missed the target. Alyssea also could easily evade it.

It was Alyssea's turn to cast a spell at Delainie. The second year pointed her wand at her opponent and cast a Fire-Making Spell. The fire was conjured from the tip of her wand. Delainie tried to avoid the fire but the bubble that Alyssea conjured in the previous round disturbed her, resulting in her failure to evade the attack. Her clothes was hit by the fire and made her weaker by the heat. Luckily, it wasn't aflame.

Zach smiled from watching the duel. It was what he expected when we wanted to spectate a duel, some fire and explosion, besides any other effect. It was very interesting to him to see some flashy effects from the spells. He looked at Delainie and saw that she still wanted to finish this duel. "Ravenclaw also has the spirit to win," he said in his thought. If anyone asked, Zach actually didn't know which side he was on. On the one hand, Alyssea was his friend. On the other hand, he and Delainie were both Ravenclaws. The only right thing he could do at this moment was to watch the duel and make sure everything went safely. "Okay we can continue to the next round," he said. He grabbed his wand tightly and readied himself to face anything that would happen next round. "Cast your spell!"

Fire and Hufflepuffs. Don't they go so well together? Alyssea could vouch for that considering she burnt Zach's sleeve off in their duel. She also heard about a few Hufflepuff fires during her seniors' time. While it was now a joke for the present, she knew it might've been a traumatising experience for them as young children. She even saw one of her peers get yelled at by a Fourth Year last year when she was trying out Incendio in the common room.

But this was a duel where the conditions were (mostly) controlled and the intention was not to get the room on fire. It may have almost happened, but it hasn't burst out in flames.

So far, her newly minted thundercloud hadn't done any damage. But she applauded Delainie for that; getting electrocuted by thunder was probably not the best way to go at eleven. Still, this was going on for a bit too long and Delainie would, no doubt, be tired. Alyssea raised her wand and thought of her next spell. It might be time to bust out some big damage.

She didn't forget the chocolate frogs she'd have to give to the young raven, either. Tomorrow was Sunday, so it might be time for another trip to Hogsmeade.

I stumbled along the piste. I was very tired already, Alyssea was a much better duelist than me, though I was still very new to the school and magic as a whole. She cast Incendio, no doubt my favorite spell, but not when it’s shooting right at me. My clothes caught fire, it started to get very hot. Still, around the same time I tried casting the Green Sparks Charm, which sadly missed Alyssea. I needed to stop missing her! Maybe she was just good at dodging it though, and I wasn’t the root of the problem. The duel was fun, but I was definitely loosing, and I was probably going to be done soon. The tickling charm was really what hit me, and I could still feel the effects lingering in my body. “You’re a great duelist!” I called out. Even though I was tired and even slightly annoyed form loosing, I still wanted to be a good sport about it. We were about to start the next round, so I picked myself up and got ready for the next round. Even though I had a very, very, slim chance of winning this, I was going to try my best. So what if I only knew like four spells?

The two girls, the older and the younger, still seemed on fire. The younger one, despite having the lesser energy, didn't make the choice of surrender. Swish and flick, her hand moved the wand with a delicate yet determined movement. She chanted the incantation clearly and made the spell successfully cast. However, the older girl could evade it easily, making the spell miss the target. Zach saw that from the outside of the piste and couldn't help but pity the scene. He just hoped she could use the Levitation Charm someday when she could become more focused.

Alyssea, the older one, attempt her next action, casting a Fire-Making Spell. The spell was cast successfully and Zach knew for sure that her spell would end this duel. And he guessed it right. The flame hit Delainie and started to burn her outfit. Zach saw that Delainie wouldn't be able to continue the duel again and immediately screamed, "Stop! We have the winner!" Zach ran to the middle of the piste to prevent any casting from both duellists. "Alyssea, congratulations! You won this duel," Zach said with an indescribable smile. "And we should check Delainie's condition," he said to Alyssea.

The boy rushed his walk to the girl with pale blonde hair and pointed out his wand at her. "Extinguo!" Zach cast the spell quickly on the outfit that was flamed and made the fire go off. "You looked not okay," Zach said while standing near Delainie, prepared to catch her if she was about to fall. "It's better if we go to the Hospital Wings as soon as possible," he said to her. The cloud was still grumbling above them, waiting its chance to hit anyone who wasn't lucky enough.

Having reminded herself of the possibilities of spells backfiring, Alyssea decided to just try the same spell again. It was a safe choice, maybe a bit violent but it was a safe one. Indeed, the spell hit and, this time, Delainie's clothes caught on fire. Before she took a moment to make sure the girl wouldn't pass out from the heat, she quickly dodged Delainie's spell.

By the time she could offer her help, Zach had done just that. She gave him a smile and whispered loud enough so he could hear. "Thank you."

Since the Hospital Wing would still be a bit of a walk from their current location, Alyssea decided to give healing Delainie a try. She didn't have potions, but it was gonna be a decent attempt at the spell she'd been practicing in Transfiguration.

But it seemed karma came back to bite her as a sharp pain burst through her whole body. She quickly suppressed a yell and this chuckled. She did her best to look as if nothing happened and leaned down to help Zach lift her. "Hospital Wing it is. Up you come, Del."

Then came the rumble behind her. Ah, right, her storm cloud. It didn't hit Delainie, but it would hit an unwilling victim if they didn't know the counter spell. Alyssea let one arm go from Delainie and took her wand.

At least that spell hadn't gone awry. It would've been an interesting departure if it had. Alyssea pocketed her wand and brought her arm to carry Delainie again. "You did great," Alyssea whispered to her, "Let's get you healed first, though, before we talk about how it went. Only if you want to."
