“The date? It’s the 17th December, Riley. I suppose with the holidays everyone gets a bit muddled up with the days. Hard to keep track, y’know.”

He’d nod, a small smile on his face when the other boy winked at him. “Oh were you joking? My brother does that all the time. Whenever he teases me he winks to show that he doesn’t really mean it.” He’d pull his hat further over his ears as his bottom lip quivered slightly in the cold.

“Do you have any siblings? I have eight.” He’d chuckle, his family sometimes seemed to knock people with its strangeness, what with a mother being in an mental institution and all. Not that anyone in Hogwarts knew that part of the story at the moment. None the less, Henry was always eager to learn about others, if they were open to it also.

Asking this question overran Riley’s last question, showing how he didn’t mind him being there nor their little meet up taking place now rather than another time. It wasn’t like he had much to do otherwise, having finished his Christmas homework and all of his few acquaintances not being in the castle due to either going home for Christmas or being an older year and attending Hogsmede.

Riley sighed. He had meant an actual date, but that was alright. It did not matter that the other boy was clueless, actually was adorable.

“I’m the youngest of five boys,” he nodded slowly, “They’re all pains in my butt, but it’s fine. I was that one that apparently wasn’t meant to be born but was anyway.”

Riley laid back on the ground, placing his hands under his head as he looked up at the sky. It was so incredibly peaceful out there, and Riley was glad that he was not alone. It felt nice making a friend for once.

Thinking about it, he probably had not needed to share as much as he did about his family, but Reed was somehow just easy to talk to. There was something about him, something just calming.

“By the way I didn’t mean the actual date.” he chuckled lightly, turning his head to look up at the other.

A small grin spread across his lips as he looked back up at the clouds. It was a nice day, despite being overcast. The temperature was not that bad, and as he watched the clouds go by, he could see the sun peeking through.

He’d chew on his bottom lip, humming for a second before nodding.
“Brothers are a pain in the butt. Out of us nine, there’s three boys and six girls so.. There’s no major age gaps so I don’t think any of us were accidents, but you could never know with my parents. I’m the middle child, so I get best of both worlds.” He’d chuckle slightly, his smile drooping a little at the reminder of his family. He really missed them, but of course he couldn’t go home due to a change of plans within his family. His mother still thought he was at a special boarding school for highly intelligent children, courtesy of his father.

“What are your brothers like?” He questioned, pulling the topic back to Riley as he turned on his butt to face him after he lay down. Riley looked peaceful and happy, which Henry really likes to see. His heart hurt when others were upset, perhaps because he knew what it felt like and didn’t want others to feel it too.

He ignored the last comment in favour of his cheeks reddening when he finally caught on to what Riley had been suggesting, turning his head away in an attempt to let it cool down before he looked back. He was quickly starting to curse his blushing, something he and a few of the other kids had inherited from their father, who became red easily when it came to anger or embarrassment. Hopefully he would grow out of it.

I’m soooo sorry i haven’t continued i had a competition

“They’re annoying, that’s all I can really say without seeming like a complete idiot.” He rolled his eyes, sighing lightly. His brothers were not the greatest, but then again, we’re siblings ever great? Probably not. Riley at least did not think so.

“You know, you look cute when you blush~” Riley smiled up at the other boy, “I don’t mean to make it awkward by saying that... I mean it cause you really do. If that’s not okay me saying just let me know it works it’s fine I should probably stop talking now...”

He found the other boy interesting, specifically the amount of time he spent flustered during this conversation. But then again, Riley was not that much better off. He just was better at hiding his emotions, which sucked a lot of the time. In that moment he decided to open up a little to Reed, taking a deep breath and closing his eyes before opening them and sitting back up, turning to face the other student. A thin smile spread across his lips, and Riley ran a hand through his hair, unintentionally messing it up more than it had already been.

"..Y-You don't think I look like a tomato?" He'd mumble, pathetically, though his eyes had brightened up as he looked to the other lad. He was happy to see him opening up more and relaxing around him. If this were the other way around, he would be tempted to believe that Riley did not want to sit with him. Though, it wasn't that way round and Riley himself sat down and even asked if he could sit there. Unless he's just extremely nice and was giving Henry pity, it seemed pretty likely that Riley wanted to sit with him. Either way, he was glad.

The grin on his face coveyed this at Riley's words, before he shuffled to a more solid sitting where he could reach up and fix a random piece of Riley's hair that was sticking out at an awkward position. "You had a clump of hair gone AWOL." He'd chuckle, patting it down before resuming his spot.

"And I agree with the brothers thing. My older one is iffy, he's either really moody or really playful. The younger one is more bearable, he sticks with his twin a lot, but he definetly prefers my older brother over me. Not that I'd prefer either of them two over one of my sisters. Do you have a favourite?"

"You look like an adorable tomato," He chuckled, "And I'd have to say that my favorite brother would have to be Daylen. He is a third year here and can be a pain in the butt if you know what I mean. But he is the closest in age to me, so he actually acknowledges my existence. Most of the time we get along too, which is really cool."

Riley was not going to mention his other family, not wanting to be associated with them. They were good enough people he guessed, but they were pretty well known, and Riley did not want that pressure. He only hoped that the other boy would not recognize Daylen's name. The last thing that he wanted in this moment was for it to be ruined by what family he is a part of. He hoped that Reed would not care if his family was so... wealthy, powerful, all those wonderful things. But he could not be one hundred percent sure with anyone. He was not even sure if his flat mate even knew.

"Anyways," He quickly moved the conversation back to the other boy, "What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?"
