History of Magic was one of Dani's worse subjects. It didn't mean she dislike the class or found it dull... okay, maybe she did, but just by a bit. She understood everything and could follow along, but sometimes she was just especially tired after lunch and her eyelids would start to drop.
That was what she would be doing, but she had finished early and some conversation was buzzing around the room. After listening in, she realized that it was about the upcoming Fall Ball, an event she had heard about last year as well (she didn't decide to participate last year, though). This year... well, they would see! It seemed like a fun event, from what she heard her fellow Ravenclaws say here and there. She turned to the person next to her and asked, "Hey, are you thinking of going to the fall ball? I'm hearing a lot of people discussing their plans, but I don't really have anything down right now. Seems pretty fun, I'll probably end up going."
Dani sometimes just decided to talk to people, whether or not she actually knew them. The subject of her words this time was a Gryffindor boy with light brown hair and green eyes. "What's your name again? I'm Danielle Emberwood. Dani for short."09-26-23

Keith rushed from lunch, wanting to get to his class a little early, History of Magic. Was it his favorite, no not at all. Did he still want to get there early to get all his notes stuff out, yes. Would he still pay attention because he still finds it important, yes he would. History teaches us what not to do, he would tell himself. He got to the class before most of everyone, only a few other kids in their seats. He smiled, proud of himself.
Keith sat peacefully while the teacher talked, taking notes he thought were important, or would be on any tests or quizzes. Hi color coded his notes while listening to others talk about the Fall Ball coming up. He sighed a few times, having known the only two people he would be interested in going with weren't around. He had received a letter from Dove, saying something about staying home to spend time with her sister. He couldn't blame her, he missed her though. Clark hadn't talked to Keith at all over the summer or since they'd been back at Hogwarts. He was drug out of his thought when a Ravenclaw girl started talking to him. He turned to look at her and nodded along as she spoke, "Yeah I don't really have a plan either, I'm Keith Moore. I don't really have any nicknames or anything." The gryffindor boy replied, saying he didn't have any plans in particular either, and then proceeded to introduce himself as Keith Moore. "I'd probably make some plans for the ball, but to be honest I'm horrible at making plans. I'm more of a 'do stuff on impulse and realize it messes up all my pre-existing plans later' kind of person. Honestly, if you agree, I'd be up to just go hang out at the ball. Easier on the plan-making part of the brain."
Danielle thought back to the posters she had seen around campus, advertising the ball to the students. Lanterns had decorated the poster, which said 'The Festival of Lights'. It was set for October 6th, and there was supposedly a banquet with a dance, and a chance to make floating lanterns that were from a scene in the story 'Rapunzel'. She'd never heard of it, growing up in a wizarding environment, though. She thought it would be fun regardless of whether or not she knew the context.
"I really like the theme for the ball this year, though. The idea for the floating lights is so cool, I bet it'd be super cool to watch, and making our own lanterns sounds so fun too! Do you know that muggle movie that it's supposedly based off of? I don't really."09-26-23
