The golden hair first year listened carefully, glancing up towards the other boy. Her deep sea blue eyes seemed relaxed and calmed, though they held something deeper inside a hint of loneliness? Nonsense Helena was not lonely. The young girl knew she had friends even though it may not seem like it.

The first year girl continued to listen carefully thinking of proper ways to respond. She could tell Victor was not used to others nor did it seem like he was associated with other wizarding families for even being pureblood, but the girl understood and did not care really. The brunette haired boy seemed rather polite, at least as polite as a pureblood can be.

Helena thought silently to herself, racking her brain for a response. Ocean blue meeting hazy gray ones. Helena seemed to get lost for a moment as if Victor's eyes were a vast dense fog rolling over the hills on a muggy summer's dawn. Breaking her gaze for a second Helena bit the inside of her cheek gently feeling the butterflies run rampant in her stomach once again.

“It is quite alright. Not all pureblood families know others. Honestly being a pureblood is no different than anyone else at least I think so. If you asked another pureblood they would most likely tell you the same or say that purebloods are superior. After all, we have nothing but magic in our blood unlike Muggle-borns and half bloods. Does that help any? I am not the best at these questions, but I can help the best of my abilities. There are a few purebloods in our year that you should be wary of at least. But you did not hear that from me.”

Helena’s elegant soft as a feather tone drifted among the duo. The girl’s golden as the sun locks shielded her face gently like a closed tent covering one from the rain. Helena felt the uncertainty swell inside of her mind greatly. The young eleven year old girl was not sure what to do or say.

Helena knew if she was a bit more prominent or confident she may be able to answer and help Victor greatly with his questions, but unfortunately the young girl had no idea what she was doing. Say the least she was not in the right place either.

Dread seemed to slowly eat away at the girl. Gazing down wards quill still loosely in hand. She had no idea what to do.

It was when Victor spoke up once again that seemed to drag Helena out of her intruding thoughts. Glancing back upwards her clear as the sea waves eyes seemed to be slightly dull as if a storm was whirling around her fragile already broken mind.

”LiverPool? I suppose it is nice. I um… Rarely ever leave my manor and tend to stay home in the study reading or the garden. Only time I go anywhere is when they are gathering. I must attend as the heir of the Rose family. I have a role and must not fail my family….”

Helena’s ever so light voice wavered slightly. Though the elegance was still strong in her tone. Uncertainty was definitely eating away at the young girl. The golden haired girl was not sure what to say, but she rather tried to change the subject. Her family was a very touchy subject and it is a tad worst sense she has not heard from them yet since the girl started attending Hogwarts. Which added more to the fear and dread inside of her intrusive thoughts.

“Do you…um like the classes so far? Or Hogwarts? I mean I wish things seemed a bit challenging… But classes did just start so maybe they will get harder.”

Helena quickly changed the subject, her sea blue eyes darting back and forth as the young girl turned her gaze back downwards to her charms work. Helena was uncertain of what to do, but she felt the urge to change the subject rather quickly. She did not mind talking about other families, but her family was an extremely tough subject for her. Especially when it came to her parents. Sure the girl adored her family, but the way she felt around them and the expectations they drown her with are overwhelming and overbearing for the eleven year old girl.

Sighing softly Helena glanced upwards examining Victor a tad more. Helena was debating if he could be trusted or not, but can you really trust anyone? These intrusive thoughts kept eating away at Helena’s mind with every thought made the girl's insides twist and turn in knots. Making the girl twiddling her quill rather fast between her thumb and index as her left foot tapped gently on the wooden floorboard.

Things would be a tad easier if the young girl was normal? Would it not be?

He hit something, he didn't know what, he didn't know how but something he had said had triggered a reaction, he could see it in her shifting, her tensing and her alertness which wasn't there a moment ago. She was uncomfortable, like she had some sort of allergic reaction all of a sudden. The way she spoke about her family, or rather her...duty? Obligation? one of those...to them seemed almost strange to him, but there was something unusually strong which advised him not to push that line of thought. He would worry about it later, as it happens she replied with a question. He smiled broadly, one of genuine amusement and a lilt of Irish laughter burst from the boy, he couldn't help himself but got himself under control shortly afterwards, returning to an amused grin I don't imagine you'll be saying that in year five. We've seven years here, things are bound to become harder... he gestured around the library This place is basically where we're all going to grow up in a way. Tests and assignments might be easier, but really...getting along with each other, learning how to be on our own. I think that will be harder for most. Me included.

His expression returned to its neutral position, the amusement slowly leaving his eyes I think we're going to struggle for a bit....especially if we try to do this on our own. Play a long game, reckon that'll be the way. If he was being honest, the thought terrified him, standing on the edge of something he couldn't escape was worse than the plunge itself. Hogwarts was new, the corridors, the food and even the faces, it was all new. But soon it wouldn't be, soon it would be normal and then what? people might be home sick or lonely, or maybe he didn't know what he was talking about. After all, he was here in it, not outside looking in. What did he know?
His gaze returned to his book, unsure if he had said anything reassuring at all or if he had just been cynical for no reason.
Another question was answered and his mind returned to his companion opposite, he didn't much care for reading peoples thoughts or feelings, but he'd like to know what she was thinking. A penny for your thoughts? He asked before realizing what it was he was doing. His teeth bit his tongue as punishment for speaking without consideration and his mind reverberated with a single word 'Idiot!'.

Helena seemed to drift into her thoughts. The feeling of dread, disappointment and overwhelming feeling of failing seemed to drown her mind slightly. The young golden haired girl tried to shift out of her thoughts the best she could.

Hearing Victor speak up again the golden haired girl glanced upwards slightly. Listening to every word he spoke. Though he was correct about many things he was talking about. Classes will get harder for sure. The young girl could not help but let out a light laugh that seemed to gently echo around them. After all she could tell the boy seemed to be helping her calm her nerves a bit.

“Suppose you are right. Though I do quite enjoy the library so I do not mind being inside this place for the next six years or so.”

Helena spoke softly, chuckling to herself. Afterall it would be rather relaxing and nice to stay surrounded by the sweet smell of ink and paper around her. Even the soft crackles of the fireplace were ever so peaceful to her.

The golden haired girl seemed a bit relaxed though she did feel a bit troubled, but nobody could really help with her problems. After all the self doubt and uneasiness she gets all resides deep within her mind.

But Victor was right about one thing. Helena knew he was right. Doing this thing called life on your own was not easy and one will struggle and fail, but you can always get back up.

Sea blue eyes gazed into Victors; she felt uncertain of what to say next, but she knew the boy was correct. Not only that if Helena could make at least a smart and well mannered friend. It was the best she could ask for.

“Suppose you are right…But we do not have to do things on our own. Do we? I mean we can help each other I suppose. I barely have friends I am trying though… but it is a tad difficult at least in ones position like mine.”
Helena spoke softly, her tone wavered slightly. After all this was her chance to offer her hand of friendship to Victor. The girl's blue gaze seemed to waver slightly as she shyly looked downwards, the quill in her hand swaying back and forth in a nice melancholy rhythm.

Getting distracted once again with her thoughts Helena barely caught on when Victor spoke to her once again. Glancing slightly upwards the young girl bit the inside of her cheek nervously wondering how to word her thoughts.

The girl highly doubts the young boy would understand. Especially with her thoughts.

“It is nothing really. Just wondering if that is all. My parents have not written back yet and I fear what that means. They are not fond of breaking cycles if you know what I mean…My whole family have been in Slytherin besides me even my cousin is in Slytherin. Breaking family traditions are not the thing I wish to do but unfortunately I have and the outcome may not be the best…”

Helena spoke even quieter, almost as silent as a mouse; her tone wavered as uncertainty flowed through her veins like a rush of rapids down a rushing stream. The golden haired girl thought quietly to herself even more uncertain after all what does one do when you become the family disappointment?

“I am just the Villain in your story, but a Hero in mine.”

Can't just live in books He said without looking up, it was something Father Tom told him once after finding him in the the chapel library not wanting to play with the other children. ''Can't just live in books my boy, the world isn't in them, it's out there in the sun''. He liked that memory, he liked the way the priests pushed him out of his comfort zone at times, they knew he was a little different although they probably didn't know just how different.

He smiled at her mentioning of few friends, not a mocking smile but one of understanding, because he was in exactly the same position. Of course don't have to do things on our own, in fact I'm not sure we're supposed to. But...well, I don't mean to be rude, but you like the Library, you said so yourself. And I find you in one of the more secluded areas within it...So I think it would be difficult for you to make friends in a place where friendships don't really thrive. He turned his head to face her, an inquisitive look in his eyes. He knew he was taking a gamble and he knew he was coming across as someone who wasn't also in the same secluded section of the library with no friends. He at least didn't pretend to know why she was here however, only that this place...mightn't be the most ideal spot for her to meet people.

He could hardly speculate as to her family situation however, nor did he want to, even though it clearly bothered her. I'm....not sure you should think of it like that. The hat decides, not blood or family lines. If it did we'd all be in the house that had the most students four hundred years ago, I'm sure your parents would understand, and if they don't, well they can argue with the hat. You hardly chose where it put you. Something else bothered him about her statement, something he felt as well Don't think you should worry about your cousin either. Should worry about yourself, not them. Doesn't matter about them. Matters about you. His younger brother, he had began to notice, was doing things because he had done them. Even if his brother didn't particularly enjoy whatever it was he was doing, he was trying to mimic Victor. It was sad, in a way, Victor wasn't someone to be mimicked and his brother needed to be his own person, not follow him. But then again, he wasn't much better, doing things his father did to gain approval, often unknowingly. He shook his head I'm sorry, I don't know any more than you. I apologise if I'm being rude, it isn't my place to comment on your family or how you live your life. I just think these things can't be solved in a short conversation. With that, he went back to reading his book.

Scribbling quietly on top of the parchment paper rested in front of her. The golden haired girl listened quietly, glancing slightly upwards towards Victor.

Though the boy was correct, living in books blinds one of what is out in the real world. But the main question was. Is the real world worth leaving the comfort and safety of the fine pages filled with many words and adventures and history?

The young girl thought quietly to herself sea blue eyes gazing upwards, a thoughtful look appearing on her pale complexion.

The young girl listened to Victor as the boy spoke. Helena thought of what the boy spoke of. He was correct how would one make friends in a secluded area, but alas he was in the same area. Thinking carefully how to respond the young girl tilted her head slightly to the left.

“I do not like being around many people. The secluded areas are best. Less people and less drama.”

The golden haired girl spoke softly, still a tad uncertain of her reasoning. Though it was true Helena really did not like being surrounded while studying and it has proved on a few occasions if she stayed in her common room disaster could strike at any moment.

Setting her tannish brown quill down Helena grabbed her parchment placing it in her satchel before pulling out more parchment paper. Her eyes swimming with thoughts and uncertainties. The young Hufflepuff girl listened as Victor spoke once more.

The young girl listened as the boy spoke. Deep down Helena felt like she should listen to what he said, that maybe it was possibly true, but the golden haired girl knew otherwise.

Glancing upwards Helena smiled softly through her eyes, seeming to drown with sadness and uncertainty as if all that she knew was drowning her slowly.

“Suppose you are right? But unfortunately as a Rose I must act like a Rose. Suppose once things settle down I can figure out a way to redeem myself. Anyways tell me how are you enjoying Hogwarts so far? I suppose the castle is very vast tend to get lost every now and than.”

Helena spoke softly, her tone wavered slightly as she changed the subject quickly. The golden haired girl was done discussing her family and her family problems. It was best to avoid these conversations with others after all. It was her family drama nobody else did so it was best to keep it between her and her parents right?

Best to conceal her feelings and home life after all she wanted to seem semi normal around her peers.

Her quick deflection was noted by the young boy, though foolish and untested he wasn't completely devoid of emotions, he knew that was the nerve he hit earlier. Foolishly he commented where he perhaps should have let the topic slide without any judgments or sense of moral superiority, it obviously meant a lot to her but also caused a great division within her, the smaller details of that division he wasn't to know, nor did he need to. Her mentioning of 'redemption' also confused him, as though she thought she did something that required atonement, that she would leave that as a parting thought was both mildly disturbing and insanely frustrating as it caused him to want to know more. He buried his curiosity for the time being, knowing full well he wouldn't be able to sate it today and turned his attention back to her other, mundane in comparison, questions. Remember how we spoke last time and you mentioned that the student body was...chaotic? I haven't seen much chaos but, if it is the absence of order...well there is a bit of that going on. I thought more people would be interested in studying and learning about Magic, lots are,...but not everyone. I don't understand it This was true, in that he wasn't lying, he didn't understand it but it was also something that could be applied by anyone to any situation. He supposed that to a good duelist he himself must look very strange, what would be the point of reading about magic when you can actually do it?

He sighed and completed the last question of his transfiguration homework before closing the book and putting it away. He was exhausted, social interaction was fun at times but on other occassions it was just draining, pure and simple. He enjoyed her company, of that there was little question, but there was something else, he needed to re-center and find himself again. From his satchel he pulled his bible, he'd started getting into the habit of bringing it along ever since he ran into Helena at the lake. Some days he wouldn't read it, others he would, today called for a reading. He doubted she would mind, or even care and he started reading.

Helena gazed upwards from the book that was in front her gazing softly over at Victor the young girl listened as the young boy spoke to her.

Helena listened carefully as he questioned about the chaos that he must have not seen yet. Maybe Helena were at the wrong spots at the worse timing possible. So far Helena has seen unwanted duels in the halls from being punched in her common room in front of the head of the house none the less! It was all rather chaotic for the young girl she had no idea what to think or feel about Hogwarts with these certain situations.

Tilting her head slightly to her left side Helena hummed softly thinking of the proper words to explain to the boy why she thought Hogwarts was chaotic but at the same time she did not wish to scare the him in any way either. She seemed to debate rather what would be the proper thing to say having a small internal battle before conceding defeat within herself the young girl smiled sheepishly rubbing the back of her head in a rather bashful manner.

“Well you would think students would rather learn, but those who already know quite a lot tend to get bored and find other activities to participate in. For the chaos I suppose it may only happen around me I suppose or it rather finds me rather. It is awfully strange after all.”

Helena spoke calmly the golden haired girl was uncertain of how to explain anything to the boy. After all, he may find her a tad bit strange. Or maybe consider the girl to be horrible luck. Helena herself thought she was horrible luck; things seemed to crash around the girl fairly quickly. That or she just made enemies wherever she went in a way especially with a certain smaller boy in the Hufflepuff dorm.

Helena gazed back downwards staring at her new piece of parchment as she decided to begin her Potions homework for the time being. After all, the young girl wanted to make sure that she got all of her work done before the school week ended. It was the best thing for a student to do.

Once in a while Helena would glance upwards watching Victor noting he seemed to be reading another book. Helena glanced downwards and she noted the boy seemed to be focused and did not wish to disturb him very much. It would be rather rude of the girl to disturb the boy as he was nose deep reading.

Helena enjoyed the comfortable sounds emitting from the vast library, the gentle flaps of the flying books returning to their places, the soft gently flipping of pages from the books seemed to echo gently among the duo; it was rather peaceful to Helena; she very much enjoyed the swet sounds fluttering around her. Even the sweet smell from the fireplace hissing and crackling was peaceful as well.

I think life is chaotic He said without looking up, surprised at this new found ability to some how focus on two things at once I think you are right, this place is so very different from where we have come from, but I'm not sure we will ever get 'used to' lots of places. Right now, we are in this new place, it is different, the sights, people, smells and even the day to day. So I think it is chaotic as well, maybe it will always be that way. Maybe they have made it chaotic, why I don't know. Or, perhaps, it's just us and it will get more 'ordered' once we get used to it. I mean, this place is massive, I can't get used to it after a few months....or maybe we're just soo..afraid, afraid of failing, afraid of disappointing our families, maybe we afraid of other people.

He really didn't have the answers, but he reasoned if he admitted his own ignorance, maybe his answers would seem less like fact and more like opinion, he didn't know much but he did know his opinions were perfectly valid...provided they weren't too outlandish. Although he could hardly be considered a source of information for what other students did, she was the first person he had actually spoken too since he had been here. Admittedly, chaos did sound somewhat troublesome, but the idea of nothing but Order didn't appeal all that much either. No one said it had to be one or the other, in fact, Chaos and Order seemed to be rather apathetic to what people wanted. He supposed one could create either, and in a twisted sense of irony, in spite of her ambivalence toward Chaos and preference toward Order, she had introduced more chaos to his life than anyone else had ever. And she had done it in the span of five minutes without even being aware of it. The thought comforted him and he let slip a small smile as he continued reading. One mans Order was another man's Chaos, no wonder the world didn't make much sense, the two words loose meaning in a way, when talking about more than one person.

He started getting a headache from this line of thinking, he finished the passage and put his book away. I think maybe we should wait and see what happens. I'm sure if you build some order to your life, things will improve...have you got any interests that you might pursue?
