☙ Pride & prejudice, 26st of September 2023 ❧The past year, Finnegan had scarcely paid attention to the lanky, pasty Slytherin boy in his year. @Avery Leveret seemed to prefer his own company above all else and if his evasive attitude didn't keep his peers away, then his surname certainly did. Finnegan knew very little about wizarding families, but even he had caught on that the Leveret name came loaded with bad connotations. There had been a bit in the papers about a trial involving the family apparently, though that one hadn't been about Avery personally, presumably.
But this one definitely was.
Finnegan snorted at the picture of Avery in the Hogwarts Headliner. The boy's aloof and haughty look had been immortalized in a moving black-and-white photo sitting right above one of his many pretentious quotes. The gleam of the prefect badge on his chest just made him look even more full of himself than he usually did. Finnegan made a note to show the article to @Elsian Cox, to help his fellow Gryffindor get a better understanding of what a real airhead looked like.
He lowered the paper then and peered over the edge at the real-life specimen. Perfectly combed hair, polished shoes, flawless uniform - and for what? After Finnegan had insisted on wearing his tie askew and his shirt untucked, most Professors had just given up on trying to correct him; half the time he wasn't even doing it on purpose.
Second term of potions with Slytherin wasn't due to start until at least another ten minutes, but most of the second-years had learned that it didn't hurt to be early to class. While a gaggle of young Slytherins and Gryffindors waited outside the potions classroom, Finnegan observed Avery from behind his copy of the Hogwarts Headliner. Someone really needed to take the boy down a peg or two.
Maybe three.
In fact, someone needed to take a sledgehammer to the proverbial pedestal that Avery Leveret had erected for himself.
He pushed his back off the wall, cleared his throat and began to read out loud in the most posh, drawling voice he could muster: "Excellence has been in my family for generations," he started, causing a few heads to turn. "There is power in the mastery of magic, in competing against others with such, and if you are not powerful or the very best," he looked pointedly at Avery there, "at your craft, what good are you?"
"A fair question, naturally, what good is anyone who isn't a power-hungry maniac after all."
A smirk played at his lips when his delivery elicited a few chuckles from his tiny audience. "I take-" he snorted, "I take my education very seriously unlike some," he gestured toward the audience, "of my classmates. But it is wasted on them!"
Taking a little creative liberty with the text added to the dramatic flair. Besides, it wasn't like anyone would be able to tell the difference between what Avery had really said and what Finnegan made up on the spot; it was equally ridiculous either way.
"I feel unchallenged. I have only ever received Outstanding grades," Finnegan paused there to arch an eyebrow at the lanky, pale boy. "That must be so horrible for you, I can't imagine! Anyway..." He continued reading out loud, pacing up and down the corridor all the while. "The student body is terriblymannered, I'm Avery and I'm better than everyone else, I can't believe I'm stuck with all these savages, and so on and so forth..." he tossed the paper into Avery's lap. "Anything else you'd like to add to that? I'm sure we're all dying to hear... please, learned one, enlighten us."Stamina 10 ✶ Evasion 10 ✶ Strength 2 ✶ Wisdom 3 ✶ Arcane Power 5 ✶ Accuracy 10

┏ ┓----- O wing to a sharp memory, Avery found potions class to be relatively easy.
It was more interesting than some subjects, naturally, because it was more than a memory test. Creativity was something that wasn’t encouraged in this class, and yet finding ways to arrive at the same result was a skilled and dangerous pursuit that Avery enjoyed teetering on the edge of. That, and the fact that he was often permitted to work alone. The pale lad spent little time suffering people when it was not required of him, until rare gems of talent revealed themselves.
Finnegan Connor was no such gem. In fact the only reason Avery knew his name was through his new acquaintance; June. Otherwise, he’d have remained with the faceless nobodies, thanks to his scruffy demeanour and lack of substance.
Those thoughts flashed across his ebony vision as the boy began to show a copy of the Hogwarts Headliner around, as if trying to make some kind of point that was otherwise lost on Avery, who didn’t yet react and prepared himself for what was coming down the tracks towards him; not dissimilar to the countless other dreg dwellers that tried to position themselves ahead of him. All it took was a quick recollection of who he was to calm the nerves, to assert the self-confidence that he’d cultivated over his first year. Granted, he was no longer a prefect since the new year had brought about change, and a new Head of House, but he was still an accomplished student, and he was of good stock; both, things that Finnegan was not.
It wasn’t long at all before Finnegan started his baseborn assault, how predictable.
Even though he had the words right in front of him, the thick Welsh accent was enough to butcher the eloquence of Avery’s interview, prompting a slight grimace that usurped his otherwise feigned humour. A smile was just as much a weapon as words could be, but it was soon clear to him that the boy wouldn’t yet back down; not keen to heed the warnings of chilling eyes that fixed on him as he continued to read from the paper.
Avery himself, was leaned upon the stone wall, clutching the leather strap of his bag. He made a point of not reacting to the paper that was thrust at him, adopting a cool poise, as he eyed Finnegan; perhaps Finn would realise how silly he looked as the paper whimsically fluttered to the floor, as Avery sent a blink that silently asked if he was done. His lips contorted, as if welcoming his fire, his challenge; as though a viper was coiling to strike.
“It’s as if you don’t understand that you’re here, proving my point, you bedraggled bedwetter.” He hissed with venom. Perhaps there was no truth to his claim at all, but in a corridor full of his peers, it was likely to strike a nerve and cultivate some doubt. “Ill-mannered, and muggle.” He gave a cruel smile. “It says it all, really.”
He figured that was enough, and he didn’t owe anyone any answers, let alone a muggleborn that thought himself high enough to accost him publicly; yes, definitely enough to put him in his place. Avery continued to wait for them to be let into class, eyes idly wandering as he retained an unphased image; as though Finn’s brilliant move was nothing more than an insignificant gnat that fluttered a foot from his face; begging to be swatted.

☙ Pride & prejudice, 26st of September 2023 ❧Hmmph. He hadn't counted on Avery letting the crumpled newspaper bounce off of him. But while the boy's posture remained cool and collected, his voice did not. A faint smirk played at the corner of Finnegan's lips, the Slytherin boy just couldn't help himself. He had that tone, that self-assured, self-satisfied veneer of superiority even when he tried to sound dismissive. Avery might try to play it cool, but his venomous response proved that he'd struck a nerve - though perhaps not the one he'd intended.
"Really?" Finnegan arched a single eyebrow at the lanky boy and crossed his arms over his chest. He leaned against the wall opposite of Avery, seizing the pale Slytherin up with his eyes. Only a few feet of cold, damp stone separated them and while he glowered, Finnegan very slowly, very cautiously slid his wand-hand into his robes. He didn't like the way Avery had strung ill-mannered and muggle together like they were two sides of the same coin. Over the last year he'd heard some nasty things being whispered about muggles and muggleborns, but he'd always shrugged it off. Such comments were rarely made out loud and this was the first time anyone directed it straight at him.
"Do you ever go outside Leveret? Know what that is? Might do you some good, you might even make some friends." A low blow, but he could hardly try to deny he was a muggle and he had the nous to not reflect on his alleged bedwetting. Any second spent adressing that insult would just backfire and he thought it was best left ignored.
A few of the gathered students sensed the escalating tension and began to mutter among themselves, eyeing the two boys expectantly. Anticipation filled the air, someshuffled anxiously behind him while others took a step back. One girl mutter an exasperated "boys..." He didn't even have to glance over his shoulder to know she was rolling her eyes at both of them, nor did he care to. His gaze was fixed on Avery, that cold, pale, slippery eel of a boy.
The tip of his fingers found the handle of his wand in the depths of his robes. Silently, he grasped it while he scoffed. "Whatever Leveret, you're all bark and no bite."Stamina 10 ✶ Evasion 10 ✶ Strength 2 ✶ Wisdom 3 ✶ Arcane Power 5 ✶ Accuracy 10

┏ ┓----- A very could see that his reaction had struck some nerves.
Perhaps now Finnegan would understand just who he was electing to dance with. There was a danger that they both sensed, but Avery wouldn’t need to do much to assure the safety of his person and reputation. He was taller than the chimp-like boy opposite, who now glowered at him from across the hallway. Avery reckoned that he was quicker, and had much more duelling experience than Finn had in wand combat; but even then, there were other hidden advantages that he kept up his sleeve; literally and figuratively. He was fond of sleeve-sheathes for wands, as it meant for quick access; but also because they were duplicitous- stealthy, but also his summer-time training with his brother that taught him a powerful spell that would blow Finnegan away.
The thought was tempting, and anything but fleeting. It hung around, goading Avery to make that choice. His former lack of payback on Clark came to his mind, surely he wouldn’t let the same happen again.
By the way Finnegan tensed, Avery couldn’t help but think that he’d need access to the wand quickly. His direct puritan jab had floored the boy, he could tell; perhaps even some of his classmates; but it served well in a shack-and-awe approach, and it seemed Finn wanted to push further instead of heeding the subtle warnings…
”Ohhh is that what this is? Some, eccentric, attempt at getting my attention? Were you dying to be my friend that bad?” He grinned, a backswing designed to shrug it off, but then an opportunity presented itself and he positioned himself thus; opposite the boy, looking at him with a wolfish smile as the words danced from his mind to his lips. It was clear that he enjoyed this cruelty; cruelty that he could claim to be self-defence. The barbarian accosted me in the halls, Professor!
“You came to me, remember. - You’re right though, perhaps I should go outside. It’s starting to smell awfully like- mud. Or is that just you?” He threw back; Finn had decided to lead this dance, and so Avery thought it apt for him to do so with gumption; give him a chance to prove himself.
The hook was baited.

@It was a normal Tuesday for Helena or at least it seemed to be. The young girl was minding her own business heading towards Potions for the day. Potions was always interesting though a bit dreadful in the dark musky dungeons. Why couldn’t they put Potions in an actual classroom, but no they had to put it down in the dark depths of the largely vast castle.
Though the golden hair girl was not alone she was being accompanied by a comrade would be the best way to put it. Remedy Norden walked beside the young girl. Both girls seemed to be in a comfortable silence among the duo.
Helena adorned her school robes which were slicked back and billowing behind her with every small stride she took. In her grasp were her potion textbooks and across her left shoulder was her beige tannish satchel bouncing slightly against her hips as she gracefully walked. The girl's golden blonde hair cascaded down her shoulder ending by the smol of her back bouncing with volume each step the young girl took.
Beside her was Remedy Norden. Helenas childhood comrade. One may mistaken them as friends though even Helena was unsure what their connection or relationship would be considered. Merlin's sake Helena doubts even Remedy knew what they were to each other. Besides childhood companions.
The deeper the duo ventured down the dimlitted musky dungeons. Helena felt her nose crinkle a bit. How one could live down here like the Slthyerins baffled Helena even though she would have had this fate if the sorting hat chose the proper house for her, but alas it did not or at least Helena felt like it did not. Or maybe Hufflepuff is where the girl belongs.
As the duo of girls turned the corner, ocean blue eyes landed upon two other students obviously older. They seemed to be in a heated spat or something around the sorts. Helena glanced softly towards Remedy uncertain of what the duo should do?
The golden blonde girl noticed Remedy's signature almost sinister like smirk . The other girl seemed intrigued by the situation in front of the girls. Helena turned her attention back towards the two older students who seemed ready to brawl. Helena started to examine them both as older students. Helena squinted her eyes in confusion trying to figure out what kind of situation the duo have walked into.
Helena was uncertain of what the duo should do of course. Helena slowly leaned towards Remedy, Helena’s ocean blue eyes swam with uncertainty as she clung to her books rather tightly.
“Ummm? What should we do they seem to be in the way?”
The young Hufflepuff spoke ever so softly, careful not to give away to the two older students that the girls were witnessing their spat. Awaiting an answer Helena’s eyes kept darting back and forth as the butterflies in her stomach seemed to go rampant inside of her stomach.
One could feel the tension that seemed to drift around the dungeon halls. Helena was extremely confused and concerned after all what did herself and Remedy just walk upon. Merlin help them if a fight actually does break out. But there would be no way possible these two older students would fight. Would they?
Standing closer to Remedy the young golden haired girl awaited anxiously beside her companion all Helena wanted was to go to class, but now it seemed something more entertaining was about to happen. What would be the harm in watching?

September 26th 23-------------- pride & prejudice ------- -------The Dungeons-------
------- ------- Remedy's Dialogue #796f4e------- -------
Nearly days away from Remedy's first month of Hogwarts arriving to a conclusion, and yet the chronicle had only begun. Of course, to pass the time, she gave the Hogwarts Headliner a short glance to satiate her horoscope curiosity even though she knew it purely all bogus. Her expression spawned a dumbfounded look while devouring the words upon the article, her puzzlement requiring the dark haired girl to lean forward to ensure the message had been read properly.
'...The moon is in Virgo....make you question your abilities...'
A scoff escaped her lips and eyes widened as the Slytherin read over her zodiac's message once more. Remedy read no further nor permitted her curious mind acknowledge the meaning behind the excerpt, those few words alone merely enough to make the girl irked and uninterested. With a swift flip of the page, Remedy was greeted with the moving black-and-white photo of her cousin, a passive smile crossing her once caustic features. Her eyes hungrily devoured the article, Avery's quotes immortalized in bolded print, a low chuckle resonating into the silence as she walked beside Helena.
A thought crossed her mind: how long had it been since she had last seen Avery. December? January? Remedy's memory escaped her, triggering the girl to mull over the question in silence as she intermittently glanced at his portrait during her walk. Despite the fact Remedy and Avery attended the same school, she had yet to tread upon her cousin's presence within the corridors or common room. Although a miniscule fraction of Remedy was content with the absence of her cousin, part of her pondered why that was so. She held her own hesitations both purely based on her nerves, humility, and envy, but questioned his reasonings after all this time.
The girls were greeted with the familiar brisk of the dungeons as they descended the stairs towards Potions, a sudden draft of breeze causing Remedy's jet black robes to billow behind her dramatically. Gaggles of students and murmurs cascaded the dreary dungeons quickly piquing Remedy's interest, a twisted smirk touching her lips.
Helena's words met her ears, and she slipped her copy of the Hogwarts Headliner into her satchel before standing on her toes to watch whatever was ensuing.
"Obviously, we're going to make them move." She remarked, her smirk remaining put as she studied the bashful badger before her. Intertwining arms with Helena's, Remedy shoved her way through the congested student body to the front of the swarm. There her eyes met a scampy brown haired boy and none other than the infamous Leveret himself. Whilst part of their exchange was missed, Remedy entered proximity in time to hear her cousin speak one line:
'You came to me, remember. You’re right though, perhaps I should go outside. It’s starting to smell awfully like- mud. Or is that just you? -- Go on. Do it. We’ll see who is all bark.'
A chuckle escaped her lips, not bothering to hide her amusement, as she watched the scene unfold. Her arms crossing with an inherited cockiness as she awaited the move of this mudblood, a smirk much like her cousin's plastered upon her elegant features. While Remedy had heard tales from her aunt, father, and grandmother alike of Avery's expertise on the dueling piste, she instinctively slipped her hand into her satchel to wield her chestnut wooded-wand. The girl wouldn't step in, this was Avery's fight, but they were bloodbound which would instilled her with a sense of loyalty to her family, despite her judgements about him being askew.
His enemies were her enemies; if her chuckle didn't make her allegiance apparent, then her smug expression certainly would.

☙ Pride & prejudice, 26st of September 2023 ❧The Slytherin's comment was anything but subtle and for one rare moment, Finnegan was at a loss for words. Being called eccentric or a bedraggled bedwetter were things he could shrug off, but not this. This wasn't just another childish insult. This was about being lesser in every way, less capable, less knowledgeable, less deserving of magic, and those doubts had gnawed at him before. The only thing he'd ever really excelled at was flying, but that had little to do with magic. Perhaps Avery had a point.
Finnegan grit his teeth. How had he allowed the Slytherin to get under his skin like this? "Just say it you coward," he sniped back, heat rising to his cheeks, "if you're going to call me a mudblood, just say it."
There was a shuffle of movement in his peripheral vision. Finnegan glanced down the corridor. Two more students, first-years both by the looks of it, had joined the growing audience. He glanced only briefly at the shy-looking Hufflepuff and the haughty-looking Slytherin, not recognizing either of them. Great, he sighed inwardly. Now it was pretty much guaranteed that a Professor or Prefect would get to hear of this.
"What are you smirking at?" he glowered at the first-year Slytherin. She seemed terribly amused by the situation and Finnegan was under no illusion whose side she was on. He tore his gaze away from her and squinted at Avery instead, who was the bigger threat in every sense. There was no backing down anymore, that much was clear, it was just a matter of who would make the first move.
A thick, heavy silence hung between them. Finnegan grasped the familiar handle of his wand. There was only one way to end this and end this quick.
He flared his nostrils.
"Expelliarmus!"
Bang! A jet of red light burst from the tip of his wand. But where Avery's hand had been just a wink ago, there was only wall now.

┏ ┓----- T he satisfaction that filled his smirk was immeasurable.
Righteously cruel, and masked. A sharp edged dagger that Finnegan Conner was keen to throw himself at.
Avery had alluded to a most grievous slur, though if he were to be called out on it; he could easily frame it as being an insult based on Finn’s cleanliness. Dirty wasn’t a far throw from scruffy, in respectable circles; but it wouldn’t matter. If Avery pressed just a little more, he was sure he’d be able to see steam coming from the boy's ears and his face turn into a cherry tomato. Avery didn’t much like tomatoes, and he didn’t much like Finnegan at this point. Who in their right mind would think this a good idea? Maybe that’s just it, maybe Finn wasn’t in his right mind; maybe Avery had wound him up so much that he wasn’t thinking straight. Perfect.
There was an expression that Avery thought of, about backing a dog into a corner, but he didn’t really agree with it; not fully anyway. He had predicted the way Finn would react, to every little micro-managed button-press that Avery had orchestrated. Obviously, he didn’t go out of his way to cause beef with other students with the article, but he knew how to make the best of a bad situation; and that was what he planned to do now as the chimp snarled down the hall.
Reluctantly, Avery shifted his dark orbs to follow his attention; aware that it could be a possible distraction. Though it seemed he was to pick on a pair of younger bystanders– wait. Bollocks.
Remedy Norden was there, his first cousin on his mother’s side, with another unknown first year. The Norden side of his family was the substantial side after the trial, not that he minded. The Leveret side of his family weren’t particularly to his liking but they were family; just as she was. Though admittedly, at least with the Leveret side, there was little expectation, they were academically relaxed; unlike his mothers’ side. Perfection was a precondition to the name, which meant that the incident sent monumental shocks through the family. Avery bet there was some kind of hushed judgements he had not been party to, owing to his age, and now here was a physical manifestation of that judgement that was now enrolled at his school.
A predicament he would later come to address, though now he had to perform.
Finnegan had taken up the challenge. Good, anything else would have been a misstep. Whatever Avery thought of the boy, he couldn’t help but admire him for having the guts and strategic know-how to follow up on what was, in his eyes, an unwarranted rant. He was perfectly content with the fact that they were now duelling. Not only was this now self-defence, but duelling was his pleasure.
Finnegan had tensed just before he want to grab his wand, and Avery read that too, like a book. With an easy motion, he’d thrust his own wand from the sleeve sheath. The chestnut wand that had a few golden brown streaks through it, was firmly in his grasp. Had Finnegan predicted that Avery would be quick on the draw? He must’ve done. That was impressive, though Avery was loath to admit; Finn had even determined which was Avery’s wand hand before the motion was complete judging by his eyes. The thought did cross his mind that Finn could well have been a fan; someone that was dying to be his friend or seek validation from. In either case, Avery was ready to crush such dreams, and reply to the grave insult that was; a muggleborn daring to attack him.
Before the blast of red magic could strike him, he had instinctively turned side on into his duelling stance. A smaller frame and a tight posture made for a controlled execution of his movements, as he leaned from the bolt and let it strike the wall behind him.
His dark eyes flashed with venom then, and he wasted no time in launching his most advanced spell; a spell that, by rights, was not to be expected of him as it wasn’t in this year's curriculum. His summertime training was surely to pay off; a combative edge that would blow the socks off his enemies, in both a figurative surprise and literal sense.
“Ventus.” he called, announcing the bold blast with malice. Perhaps the mere utterance would inspire fear, if the blast didn’t. With a clockwise turn of his wand, a powerful gust of wind short forward across the small distance; in the hopes of flinging him backwards against the wall.
That should show the cretin.┗ ┛ STATS:

Helena did not complain or whine when Remedy’s arms intertwined with hers practically dragging the girl over to the front of the crowded corridors. As they approached the front of the corridors sea blue eyes resting on the two older students who seemed to be in a terrible dispute. Helena was confused on why anyone would wish to start a spat in the middle of the corridor or down in the dungeons nonetheless. Maybe less witnesses? Helena highly doubted that the corridor seemed quite lively even though people seemed to stop and watch the spat.
Helena glanced slightly upwards at Remedy, the golden haired girl was uncertain of what to say or do besides wait for this dispute to stop. Helena nervously started planning with the end sleeves of her robes the girl could feel herself drowning in butterflies and nerves.
Helena had no idea what to do or how to react to the situation in front of them. Helena still glancing up at Remedy noticed the other girl seemed to have a smirk hearing a chuckle come from the other girl. Helena glanced back towards the two older students that seemed to be in a lovers spat.
Hesitating on what to say. The nervous Hufflepuff girl clung to the edge of her sleeves tightly, her knuckles turning a ghostly white.
Umm…Remedy what should we…Um What should we do?”
Helena spoke softly almost in a whisper to Remedy her voice wavered slightly. The young girls' sea blue eyes darted back and forth. How does one handle a situation like this one?
Was it normal for Hogwarts students to start having spats in the halls?
With the young girl's intrusive thoughts drowning inside of her mind. She kept her gaze onto the two older boys in front of the young girls. Helena would hate if one of them were to get harmed or worse in trouble for being a witness to a spat like this.
So far the two older students seemed to be just bickers, but as Helena thought that the messy haired brunette boy seemed to shot a spell at the rather tall pale boy. Even though the red streak of light missed the taller pale second year hitting the wall instead.
The young blonde girl jumped from pure shock moving closer to Remedy slightly cowering behind the other girl. Helena felt her breath hitch as almost panic seemed to rush around her mind.
Helena glanced upwards towards Remedy. Feeling a bit uncertain Helena tried to calm her breathing, muttering to herself.
“Do not be a coward Helena it’s okay. It is okay…”
Helena whispered ever so softly to herself trying to calm her nerves. After all she did not want to seem cowardly, but the poor girl could not help it. The corridor seemed to get eerily quiet as if those that were onlooking were awaiting for what was to happen next.
Helena stayed slightly behind Remedy inching slightly outwards the young girls blue gaze staring towards the older duo that seemed to be in a full blown duel. Helena grew rather curious as the taller pale boy seemed to shoot what seemed to be a gust of wind towards the other boy.
Helena unconsciously seemed to be gripping Remedy’s robes from her side. Relaxing slightly as if the young Hufflepuff was intrigued with how this little spat would turn out. It did seem to be a bit intriguing in a way. Even though Helena had to silently think the taller boy would most likely win this fight then the smaller messy haired boy.
But even then he could fairly well if he was lucky beat the other boy. Helena was just overly curious at this point even though she still seemed to cower slightly behind Remedy.

☙ Pride & prejudice, 26st of September 2023 ❧Instinctively, Finnegan ducked and bolted not a moment too soon. A cold blast soared overhead. Ventus? He didn't recognize the incantation. Avery had been impressively fast to retaliate.
A wall of compacted air rippled down the length of the hallway, billowing the robes and hair of the bystanders, like someone had thrown open a window on a stormy day. The blast made his ears ring, drowning out the suprised yells and screams as students leapt out of the way. There was no mistake: if that had hit him, he would've been lifted well off his feet and crash-landed face first onto cold, cruel stone.
He should have guessed it, should have known that Avery knew advanced spells and wouldn't hesitate to use them. When wasn't the Slytherin studying alone, pouring over his precious books? What other spells did he know and mean to try out? There was no time to linger on any of it, but more than one could play at that game. He might be rubbish at charms, but he'd always done well in Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Though for all its power, what Avery had flung at him could hardly be called a dark spell. The boy wasn't conjuring venomous snakes to attack him like some in the student body seemed inclined to do. Or maybe he just doesn't know that spell, Finnegan thought. Still, he took note that for all of the boy's vanity, he at least seemed to possess a measure of restraint.
Having escaped the wall and Avery's counter-attack, Finnegan spun around on his heel, aiming on intuition alone. "Petrificus Totalus!" There was a whizz and a bang, his spell careened down the length of the corridor, determined to find its mark.
Not even the way they did magic was alike. Avery's cool, collected poise was a far cry from the wild, instinctive magic being hurled back at him. On paper, victory belonged to the one who abstained from friendships in favor of study, who gloated about power and blood without a shred of humility, the one born of wizarding blood. The way he'd skillfully avoided being disarmed, the speed with which he'd drawn his wand, his flawless incantation, none of it mattered in the end.
Finnegan froze breahthlessly, his knuckles white-hot from clutching his wand. He didn't laugh or grin or ease up. Not yet. Avery had proved himself capable and until the tall boy had been rid of his wand, he could not be at ease. Besides...
His eyes fell on the Slytherin girl and her Hufflepuff friend. The latter of the two seemed harmless and timid, the kind that asked permission to breathe, but the other one had that same self-assured glint in her eyes as Avery. He squinted at her, still unsure if she was a threat or not. If she had a lick of sense she'd stay out of the way, what was she going to do? Throw sparks at him? "Don't even think about it," he growled at her (@Remedy Norden), "unless you want to end up like him."Stamina 10 ✶ Evasion 10 ✶ Strength 2 ✶ Wisdom 3 ✶ Arcane Power 5 ✶ Accuracy 10
