Dear Future Friend
Oct. 4th 2023 The OwleryEquipped with her quill, ink, an envelope and an already written letter Lyrra climbed up the stairs of the West Tower, making her way to the owlery. She had a plan, and that plan was to make a friend, although perhaps her little idea was quite an odd way of doing so. A few hours ago in the common room, she had written a letter and now all that was left to do was to seal the letter and leave it behind somewhere. But before doing that, Lyrra read over the words one last time.Dear Future Friend,
At least, that's who I hope will find this letter. I do realize this may be a weird way to start a letter, but please bear with me. If you, the person reading this, are a nice person, then you may go on. Otherwise, I'd prefer if you put this back where you found it and leave, because I don't like dealing with unkind people.
Let me start off by introducing myself. I'm not going to say my real name because it would be kind of awkward if someone who knows me found this letter. So instead, I have decided to maintain my anonymity by using a pseudonym. And also because I want to seem mysterious, although I know I'm really not. Also, I think pseudonyms are mostly used by writers and poets, and I kind of consider myself a poet, and maybe even a writer as well, so it only makes sense that I would use one. Anyway, you can call me Saturn. You know, just because that's the coolest planet in our entire solar system. Hey, that quite fits me... Just kidding, I'm not at all that cool!
Anyway, that's enough about me, I'm curious about you! I mean, if we're going to be friends, we should probably get to know each other a little. So I have a few questions for you: What is your pseudonym? Of course you may use your real name if you'd prefer, but admit that that's a whole lot less fun. Also, what year are you in? And what do you like to do? I'm a first year myself, and as I said before I like to write poetry... And you've probably noticed that I'm kind of into astronomy.
Feel free to talk about anything else, whatever you want really, and you can ask me questions as well. I really do hope that the person reading this will write back, that is, if you are a nice person of course!
Your Friend,
~Saturn
When she was done reading, Lyrra tucked her letter into the envelope and sealed it. After dipping her quill into ink and writing "Dear Future Friend" onto the envelope in huge letters, and in slightly smaller letters "Yes, I'm talking about you. Please open this", she carefully placed the envelope in a corner of the room. Feeling pretty satisfied, the girl left the tower.Words: 493

Dear Future Friend
October 5th 2023
Dear Saturn,
First of all, you’re right, this is a weird way to meet new people. Like, the poetry club is literally right there, if you really do like that kinda stuff. This really feels like something from a book, or those things muggles watch, called ‘movies’. Or something like that, anyway. If you’re a muggle-born, some information about that would be nice in your next letter.
If you’re going to write one, anyway. And yes, I know, you said you only wanted to meet nice people, and I kinda doubt I’m really giving off those vibes right now. I swear, I am though. In a way.
Who is this delightful person, you may ask? Well, you may call me Jeff. Before you just to conclusions, no, that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m a guy. My pet Pygmy puff is called Jeff. Lol I know. A name worthy of kings.
Speaking of which, he actually only got delivered here a few days ago, on the 3rd. I got him before school started, but left him at home so I could settle in better. And now, hooray, we’re reunited. Touching, isn’t it?
As for my year…. Congratulations, it is the same as you. In my book, that’s called Fate, friend.
Best wishes, (kinda)
Jeff
