around Lunchtime
Alan would walk through the big corridors, a plain black school robe wrapped around his small frame as he hummed a soft christmas tune. It was a rather quiet sound so that it would not bother anyone he was passing by, as he did not want to be annoying for anyone. The young Gryffindor was on his way to the Great Hall as lunch was about to be served. He was wondering what kind of dishes would be on today's menu even though it was probably a lot. His guess was that there would be variations of scrambled eggs with potato mash to quiche with sour cream, probably there also might be pies. He shouldn't forget about the pumpkin and orange juice or hot chocolate as it was slowly getting colder these days. The date of Christmas was nearing and it would probably be a lot of fun. Maybe they had gingerbread or chocolate mousse for dessert?

While his mind was occupied with food for a while, it did not take a lot of time until something else caught his attention. Or not something but rather someone. It was the guy he met in the Study Room a couple of days -or was it weeks?- ago. He had left Alan with a lot of unanswered questions so maybe he could give jim some answers now?

Alan walked towards him with a small smile. He wondered if the boy would remember him as well or if he already forgot. It took Alan a while until he remembered his name.

”Hey! Kae, wasn't it?” Alan asked cheerfully.

Kaegen was hungry. Starving, even. He wanted to eat, needed the nourishment and it felt like there was a gaping hole where his gut should have been, that occasionally grumbled quietly to itself, protesting the treatment that the twelve year old boy was giving it. How long had be been watching the flow of people, how long had be been making sure that he couldn't see any threats, then deciding that he could, in fact, see several and keep hiding, only to eventually give in?

His eyes saw the same thing everyone else did, but it didn't register the same, not at all. He saw evil glances, and ominous smiles, he saw hands shift to wands and folds in fabric that looked like they were moving over the metallic and deadly form of a knife. He smelled ogre, a lamp that looked out of place, almost like a changeling ghoul was waiting to rip out his throat. And everything seemed dark.

When he heard his name called, he whirled with a flap of robes and fabric. His eyes didn't sit still, pupils themselves shaking about, independent from the rest of the eye. His nose was scrunched up, lips peeled back in a sort of snarl, but it didn't look like it was meant to be menacing. His eyes were wide, more scared than angry. It would have looked, to a practiced eye, that he was getting ready. Preparing to fight, not trying to scare away the antagonist but preparing to meet him.

"Land. Go away, or I will kill you. Every last one of you, and throw your dead bodies to the first dark place."

He was bluffing, although he didn't really know that himself. The dark place was the scariest thing his little mind could think of, and he was ready to kill them, although he would have much rather just run. His rumbling stomach gave him a bit of foolhardy bravery. But just a little bit.

Alan was not quite sure what made the Ravenclaw student react so harshly. His whole posture changed, seemingly wanting to prepare for fight, but that was not it and Alan noticed right in the beginning. The way Kae's pupils would twitch around as if he was a small creature cornered by a predator… or in the way Kae tensed up, preparing hhimself to react if it would be his last option.

He did not know what made him so anxious but something stuck to his mind and while he heard the other boy’s words that were meant to threaten or scare him away, his brain only registered one thing and a bright, toothy smile lit up the young Gryffindor’s face.

”You remembered my name!” He squealed like an excited puppy and looked at Kae. ”Why are you so tense? You must be hungry, right? I heard your tummy growl~” The boy giggled, amused.

After thinking for a small while he smiled. ”If you wanna we can go to the Great Hall together! I could watch your back so that you can eat in peace-” he offered with a genuine smile. Maybe this was what bothered Kae? Suddenly being spoken to or being the center of attention?

The other boy let out the strangest sound Kaegen had heard come out of another person. It was like a pig, but mixed with a bird and a really happy laugh. What it meant, he didn't know, but it was obvious that the boy was happy, which disturbed the Ravenclaw to no end. What the heck did this mean?

Why was he so tense? He wasn't tense, why would he look tense? If anyone was tense, it was that death witch, tense with the impending realization of who he was dealing with. Kaegen was going to survive, survive this and everything else. He was going to survive death, and then kill it. He was going to make it out of hogwarts alive, somehow. And this brilliant mastermind of a death witch wasn't going to stop him.

"I'm not tense, I'm not hungry and I wouldn't let you within 10 yards my back. Go away."

What was he supposed to do? Kaegen started backing up, away, as he thought of ways to actually fulfill any of his threats. He was coming up sadly short, and was acutely aware of it. Now what? He wanted to maybe make a threatening face, but had no idea how, and ended up crinkling his nose instead, looking like he was smelling something. What even did a menacing face look like? He knew he had seen several, but it wasn't springing to his mind at the moment. And his hunger was still evident, despite the rising panic.

Alan, the carefree little Gryffindor he was just smiled. He was not feeling threatened by the other boy. But not because he underestimated Kae, no. He just could not detect the threat that lingered in the air. A threat the boy would have taken lightly because Kae would not truly hurt him, would he?

”Are you sure you're not hungry? You look pretty hungry!” he looked at him curiously, stepping closer instinctively when the Ravenclaw staggered back in what seemed like nervousness. He would reach out to grab the others hand and quickly let go in shock. He had wanted to stop him from going and once again failed to understand personal space. Alan's hand were soft and held no blessures or rough skin; cleary his hand never held a weapon or suffered through anything work related.

”S-sorry! I acted without thinking, like really I'm sorry that I invaded your personal space! Please I don't want to hurt you or harm you in any way…” the young boy rambled helplessly, hoping the other wouldn't go away now. He could not understand why the other boy seemed so untrusting and why he would rather starve than enter the Great Hall.

A hand coming for him, coming to touch, to hurt. A punishment and an attack all rolled into one undesirable package that Kae was going to try and avoid, thank you very much. In an instant, his eyes were fully black. Nothing but inky darkness remained of his greyish blue storm clouds. He moved backwards incredibly quickly, a leap and then a hop, setting himself up for a fight. He could hear the death witch say something that sounded a little like an apology, but he couldn't tell, and didn't care.

He could hear, feel, smell the blood right below the skin on the death witch. So close, so easy. One cut, one bite and it would be over. But it wouldn't be that easy. There was a moment when the ravenclaw was determined to do it, but fear held him back. The boy in front of him was dangerous, very dangerous. Too dangerous to attack, there was no use trying to win a fight that the enemy had already planned for. Although he was hungry, the little half vampire turned and ran away from the gryffindor for the second time. He couldn't deal with this right now. He needed food, but surviving was more important. He could always eat later.

The young Gryffindor stared at Kaegen in confusion and slight shock as he witnessed something he never thought he would. As far as he knew he never had an encounter with a creature or halfling before, but now right in front of his eyes there was Kae. His pupils seem to bleed out, but not red. No. It was as if dropping a stone into a pond, like small waves the black of the pupils swallowed up whatever color or whiteness had been his eyes before leaving them as a black see. A black of such intensity that Alan could see an mirror image of his own face for a second before Kae turned around and fled.

Alan stood there, frozen in place as he stared at the spot the Ravenclaw was seconds ago before his instincts took over. Alan could see the panic in Kae's gaze and the shock on his own. How his eyes had widened first in shock, then slightly how his face scrunched up in a confusion as he tried to figure out what just happened. And lastly came the realization of what Kae was, but before the young Gryffindor could react the Ravenclaw had already been long gone and Alan was left behind once again.
