The Black Lake, such an ominous name for a place which could look rather lovely in the sunlight, not that there was an awful lot of sun to be had in the Autumn months, but darkness had its own kind of beauty he supposed. He wandered along the grassy banks and listened to the wind blow through the trees, the dark clouds wheeled overhead and for a moment Victor though het heard the rumble of thunder in the far distance, like the beating of war drums from his history books. He kept walking, with no particular destination in mind, perhaps he would walk around the whole lake or maybe he would just go back to the castle. He continued walking, it was high time he got out and explored the grounds of this place, rather than simply being cooped up in the library. It wasn't good for the soul, or the mind, to be buried in tomes all day everyday, besides, nature was to be appreciated as well as studied.
He thought he could hear distant laughter now, some other students playing or chatting somewhere in the woodlands, or perhaps down by the lakeshore. It was strange, he didn't feel quite so alone here, which was nice. Some of the older students spoke about folk who lived beneath the black waters of the lake. He wasn't sure if that was just idle gossip or not, but he didn't feel the need to find out and he eyed the inky waters with a degree of suspicion. He continued to walk down the path, stealing glances behind him and the castle, which was growing slightly more distant each time he did so. Funny, this was supposed to feel like home, yet it felt anything but, in fact now that he thought about it he wasn't sure how he was supposed to feel about this place. It could be home, indeed it probably should be if he was going to spend the next few years here, but he couldn't help but see it more as a school, populated by strangers rather than as any kind of home he was familiar with.
His path now led him to a strange clearing, strange because it almost snuck up on him, a tree stump lay off to his left, deeper into the woods and away from the lake but surrounded by wildflowers, not unlike a castle under siege, the flowers simply waiting out their opponent. He stepped off the path and made his way over to it, taking a seat atop the stump and picking a blue flower. He studied it, its petals, scent and shape, looking at it as though he had never seen a flower before. There was nothing special about it, it was an unremarkable, uninteresting specimen yet for some reason he found that enrapturing. He found it comforting that even something as insignificant as this flower could be interesting to the person holding it. Perhaps that is what drew people together, on their own there was nothing special about them, but that they had friends who took an interest in them, just as they did in return, that made them special, or at very least feel special to one another. His smile grew, that was a nice thought, one one said one had to be blessed with divine looks or intellect to be special, perhaps some people just thought you were, and so you became special to them. He put the flower back down on to the clearing floor and looked out towards the lake. It was quieter now, the trees forming a wall which sound from the outside couldn't penetrate.
He liked being on his own, there was something enjoyable about exploring his own thoughts away from others, still, wouldn't it be nice to have someone to share them with? Perhaps in time, but for now he would make do with his own company. He knelt and placed his arms on the stump, clasping his hands and closing his eyes. It seemed like a good time to speak to the Lord and so he began to pray quietly, no one else was around as far as he knew, but he didn't feel the need to shout or announce his presence to anyone who may have been nearby. This little clearing could be his own retreat a place which he would revisit.

It was a refreshing day. Actually, Helena was not really exhausted and tired. Classes seemed to drag on. The other students were a bit intimidating for the young blonde girl. Helena was overly drained. Still getting used to the schedule of classes and being surrounded by many strangers, the young Hufflepuff girl was till adjusting.
It seemed rather peaceful outside though the air smelt like a storm would scurry through it did not seem to bother Helena very much not in the slightest.
The honey blonde haired girl walked slowly down the steep slope that headed towards the vast large Great Lake. Helena could see the murky black water from the top of the slope as she was quietly walking down.
The young girl seemed to be lost in her own thoughts, her school robes billowing behind her as her tanish beige satchel rested upon her left hip.
Helena’s soft ocean blue eyes scanned the area slightly looking for a spot to rest at. Her eyes caught sight of a nice clearing though it seemed to be another student there seemed like they were maybe talking to themselves? Helena was not positive, but the young girl shrugged it off ever slightly.
Moving slowly to the clearing Helena made sure to be quiet as possible; she did not wish to disturb the other person near her. Her golden blonde locks waved gently in the breeze as she sat underneath an oak tree by the lakeside.
Helena sat down with her legs in an L-shaped posture. After All she had to make sure she sat politely, especially wearing a skirt. The young girl reached into her satchel to pull out one of her textbooks she figured it would be best to study. After all the school year just started it would be best to remember the textbook like the back of her hand correct?
Though Helena did not say anything she felt it was best to stay quiet after all she did not want to bother the stranger near her after all that would be rather rude would it not be?

sed libera nos a malo. Amen.
He finished his prayer, Latin was a language he enjoyed, since so few spoke it few could know what he was saying. He opened his eyes, a smile across his face, he was glad he came here. Yet no sooner had he thought that, the hair on the back of his neck stood on end, there was something here. He turned around slowly, not sure what to expect, before seeing the source of his trouble.
Sitting quietly underneath an old oak tree reading a book was a girl. Not just any girl but a girl who just radiated beauty. He blinked, stunned at this series of events, did she not see him? Why would she decide to read Here of all places? Who was she? He studied her, golden hair, near alabaster white skin and, apparently, a complete disregard for privacy. Maybe she was one of these magical creatures he had heard about, or a ghost of some description. Perhaps she was an angel sent to keep an eye on him. Or maybe she was another student who found her way into this clearing same as him and decided that the strange boy talking to himself wasn't worth her complete consideration.
Whatever the reason for her being here he didn't know what to do with her, he opened his mouth to speak, but no words came. What was he to say? He was still confused and a little shocked. He mustered his courage a little and tried again.
''Who...Are you? He had to breathe to stop himself from stammering, he did not wish to come across as a fool.

With the soft chatter of students in the far distance seem to reverberate around the vast lakeside. Along with the sweet melody of the sparrows that seemed to call Hogwarts home. Helena was lost in her textbook after all the books were about the young girl's friend. Most likely only true friends to say the least. Sure the young girl has made acquaintances and has maybe one would say Allie’s, but not considered friends yet at least to the golden haired girl.
Breaking out of her deep read Helena heard a voice speak to her. Looking upwards, ocean blue eyes meeting gray eyes. Helena shyly smiled upwards at the boy. The feeling of butterflies arising inside of her small stomach.
“Me? My name is Helena Rose. And you? Who are you?”
Helena spoke softly in a sweet soft elegant poise tone. Her hands are still gripping her textbook. The young girl awaited an answer from the other boy as she examined him. By the way he looked he seemed rather shocked by her presence. Though she could not blame him after all Helena appeared out of nowhere while he seemed to be speaking to himself. Though it did not faze the girl much. She was curious. Many students tended to stay in groups. Rarely do they ever go off on their own, but who can Helena judge the young girl is always by herself after all she rarely talks and when she does it is because she’s in that situation where it would be rude if she did not speak.
Awaiting for the young boy to respond Helena awaited patiently listening to her surroundings, the soft whisper of the lake's water lapping at the shoreline. The distant chatter of the owls from the owlery echoing across the grounds. Many different sounds that seemed ever so peaceful to the young girl just wafted through the air in a peaceful melody.

If he was being honest he wasn't expecting her to reply at all, that she did was something surprising to him, perhaps she didn't see him to begin with, perhaps he was too quick to judge. Her question lingered in the air, seconds ticking by before he realized she had asked him his name.
Oh...I'm...Victor He said, again struggling to contain the stammer. He reached into his pocket, desperately searching for his rosary, upon feeling it he regained his calm and pulled it out and holding it in his hands as some degree of reassurance. I thought I was alone here...I thought I...Sorry. I don't mean to intrude On reflection, Victor could not say with any certainty that he was the first here and that perhaps he had simply failed to notice her when he arrived. If that was the case then he was the interloper, not her. Still he ought to be careful, she didn't seem like she had any ill intentions toward him, but he preferred to be cautious. How was it that everyone else seemed to be able to talk and laugh and play freely yet for him it was like climbing a mountain?
I...see you brought a book he said in a foolish and awkward attempt to start a conversation May I ask what it is about? He was curious, and in fact he noted his failure to think of bringing a book, this place was ideal for reading, but he would worry about that later. Right now, she held his undivided attention, if a subject became easier the more one read about it, perhaps people were the same. Maybe, if he got to analyse her little, she would be less of a mystery to him.

Helena smiled softly at the boy that was in front of her. Helena examined Victor a bit, watching him quietly. The young golden haired girl thought for a bit before glancing down at her textbook.
“Oh you mean this? It is my Charms Textbook. I believe the professor said something about a text next week, but I may have misheard.”
Helena spoke softly, chuckling softly. After all the girl could not remember she thought the professor for Charms mentioned a test, but alas she could have entirely misheard after all Helena was good at doing that during classes.
Helena thought silently to herself a bit enjoying the sweet melody of the outdoors. Blue eyes clashing with gray eyes Helena hummed softly.
“It is not all interesting though nothing but Charms and all of that grand stuff I suppose. Normally I go to the library and study, but today seemed quite nice, not too hot or cold. Figured enjoy it before it got colder.”
The ivory pale girl spoke softly though her tone seemed strongly elegant. Afterall she was part of the Rose family, maybe a disgrace at the moment but nonetheless still a Rose.
Helena awaited for a response from Victor. Her ocean blue eyes seemed to scan him curiously like waves crashing against the shore line.
The sweet melody of the lake's water gently lapping the shore line echoed gently as the birds seemed to echo around the lakeside in a sweet melancholy tone.
Helena seemed relaxed with the many sweet tones echoing around her it was ever so peaceful at least.

There were two possibilities in his mind, firstly she could be a Banshee, come to claim his soul and drag it to places unknown. Or she could just be a girl, who wanted in this place what he wanted, just a bit of peace and quiet. Considering she was talking, rather than howling at him, being a Banshee was probably not likely. I disagree, I think charms is very interesting He said, the shadow of a smile forming on his face before vanishing again, In fact I regret not bringing a book of my own, this is the ideal spot for it. He said looking around. Victor thumbed his rosary, as though holding it would keep the wicked witch away, but it was more to help him think and focus Are you waiting for someone? He asked, cautious about other people arriving and unwilling to jump straight into a group situation. I don't want to intrude if you are, or if you want to be left alone, that is also fine. I can leave if you wish.
Truth be told he didn't want to leave, there was something oddly mesmerizing about this girl, not just her looks but everything about her, that she brought a book on her walk, that she wasn't put off by his praying, that she seemed almost unsurprised by his presence. He knew full well she wasn't following him or even knew who he was, but she wasn't passing judgment either. Or if she was, he couldn't see it.

As the wind gently brushed among the duo. Making Helena’s golden blonde hair dance gently in the wind the young girl smiled softly. Ocean blue eyes staring into gray ones. The young girl listened to the young boy in front of her speak.
Thinking of a response Helena gently pushed back a loose strand of golden hair that seemed to dance with the stray wind.
“Charms are interesting. Wish it was a tad more of a challenge I suppose. Challenges are always intriguing.”
Her soft voice seemed to drift slightly as the girl's blue eyes gazed softly at the boy's curiosity swimming around in her ocean blue eyes.
“This is quite a nice spot is it not? I may have another textbook in my satchel if you wish to join me in studying?”
Helena softly offered to find something in her satchel for the boy to read. Helena pulled her satchel from her side on top of her lap after she set her Charms book down of course. Helena opened her beige tan satchel scrummaging around the bag. Though it was nearly packed the young girl was not sure what textbook would be ideal. After all, the girl tended to study then read books for fun.
Helena continued to listen to Victor speak, glancing up slightly at the young boy, a soft smile gracing her pale ivory face.
“No need, I honestly do not have many friends. Nor do l see anyone coming looking for me honestly.”
Her soft light as a feather tone seemed to drift among the duo as she went back to rummaging around her satchel. The young muttering to herself, eyeing the array of textbooks that she had within the satchel.
The golden haired girl was uncertain what the young boy would read or be interested in. Maybe textbooks were not his thing or maybe they were? Helena had no clue and could feel the uncertainty drowning her slowly but surely.

Victor cocked his head to one side, his eyes narrowed ever so slightly, what an odd thing to say. That sounds lonely... He said, not paying much attention to his own words and how they might have been misinterpreted I would be glad to join you, do you have any History books? History was by far is favorite subject, defence against the dark arts was useful and all, but History provided stories and insights and reasons as to why things happen as much as what could have been. Still, if she wanted a challenge...had she tried Transfiguration?
He began walking over to her slowly, a little less wary, now that the offer of a book was on the table. No Banshee ever gave away a book, nor did he care to run away from her. She was here by herself, same as him, what harm was there in reading with a stranger? If you don't mind my asking, what house are you in? Seemed like as good a question as any, he didn't know if it meant anything yet but at this point, it was an attempt at conversation. He thought of saying something else but nothing came to mind, he sat down in front of her, the earth cold beneath his robes. Grass provided little warmth but it was dry so that was something. He looked at her, she stood out so starkly against the darker surroundings, and yet somehow looked quite at home. Two contrasting images that blended in so well, he couldn't help but wonder if she was part Veela, although he thought it rude to ask. He looked away from her, now gazing back toward the lake through the trees, the dark clouds rolling overhead, such a strange day for meeting anyone, much less out here.

As Helena continued to rummage through her textbook the girl continued to listen to the young boy that was in her presence. Helena hummed softly to herself as she pulled out her History of Magic textbook.
Helena held the textbook out towards Victor, the golden haired girl smiled shyly. Her bangs covered the left side of face , obscuring the vision from her left eye. The scent of fresh picked strawberries wafted into her senses.
Helena was quiet figuring out how to respond to Victor. Sure he was correct being alone is fairly lonely, but Helena seemed used to being by herself. If she was not alone she was around family or other peers.
The young girl gently set her satchel back down after handing the History of Magic book to Victor. The young girl hummed softly.
“I am in Hufflepuff first year and you? What house are you in?”
Answering the young boy's question quietly and softly Helena offered a skittish smile. After all, the young girl was uncertain of what to do. She was not one who was good or great at conversing but at least she always tried even if it was forced upon her.
As the soft crashing of waves from the Great Lake licked the lakeside shore. Everything seemed rather peaceful. Helena felt at peace even if it was just the duo. But two are better than one!
