Give It Back!
He was standing in front of the crowd, his guitar just tuned and ready. He could feel the adrenaline flow through his veins. The crowd looked a bit hazy, but who cared! He noted that this place was a stadium.
Woah, I must be popular.
He fiddled with the pick in his left hand, waiting for the drummer to give the sign. Wait, why was he left-handed? Who cares, this was just a dream anyway. He heard someone scream 'One, two, three, f-,' and he was just about to start strumming. That was until the screams of the crowd started sounding like they were a bit too close. Close but somehow constantly getting further away? Remy fluttered his eyes open at the sudden scream coming from below him. He slowly sat up, carefully looking down to see none else than Dinara Lucey in the snow. He stared at her for a while, his mouth in slight agape but the rest of his face relaxed as he processed what had just happened.
Remy brought his shoulders up, grit his teeth and closed one of his eyes as if he was prepared for some big blow. Once she was done screaming, he pushed his glasses up and leaned against the tree trunk again. Closing his eyes, he exhaled loudly. That was until his brain was done processing what happened. He once again shot up and looked down. He contemplated if he should seriously go back to sleep and pretend that he didn't see anything. He rolled his eyes, looked up as if he was cursing the gods for putting this curse upon him. This girl just had to fall. Upon noticing the tear that escaped her eyes, he figured that he should go and help. This was going to take even more time if she tried to do this alone.
He watched her look before herself as if she was dazed or something. As if someone just hit her face with a brick (deciding to also break her arm and ankle in the process). What was she, shellshocked? Maybe he was a bit sadistic, but he might have lightly tugged the corner of his mouth into a smile. He quickly turned serious again as he listened to her weep. Something about knitting and how she was ruined. It was mildly amusing, but he couldn't help but feel bad too. He couldn't just leave a damsel in distress to crawl to the hospital wing.
But that was exactly what she seemed to be so determined to do. At this point, he let out something akin to a sigh and laugh together. It was a tired grunt, she looked ridiculous. Was she really going to try to crawl in the snow like that, alone on top of that? Remy grabbed all his stuff, picked up his bag and climbed back down. He was extra careful coming down, grabbing all the right branches and testing every single one. He couldn't get hurt now, that would make two fools instead of one. He put his hands behind his back, following what she was trying to do for a while. Yeah, she was really going to crawl to the Hufflepuff common room? Not on his watch.
He sped up, struggling to run a bit in the snow. Grabbing the lady by the back of the collar of her robes, he held her back. "Hey doll, you decided to go all by yourself after waking me up and twisting every possible joint you had? I'm afraid you're not going to the common room," he tried lifting her up, gently supporting her from her side, he saw her wrist. Great, it was twice the size it should be. Remy had already seen how many during these months? His mind traveled back to Eri Windstone, a girl as stubborn as a mule who decided to meddle with her wrist too.
"Put snow on that, loser. We're going to the hospital wing, like it or not," his voice was tired but still commanding. He wasn't going to let her suffer this way. Remy hated the sterile smell of hospitals more than anything, but he sure as heck wouldn't let her escape now.

It was quite impressive, really, to see that the girl had actually managed to roll quite a distance from where she had begun. In fact, she was now closer to the castle than she was to the tree! Proud of her progress, Dinara sped up, looking ridiculously like some form of a mutated slug that moved by rolling.
The view of the castle seemed to grow bigger and bigger. Excited, Dinara's senses were solely focused on that castle wall. Just a little more and she'd be able to hobble back to her Common Room to nurse her injuries as well as her broken pride. All of a sudden, a sharp jerk held her back. Dinara turned to what she had though was an empty Grounds -- she hadn't seen any students back here!
Her eyes met the cold gaze of... Remy Alto. Suddenly, everything that had transpired before her little fall flashed back into her minds. She gasped in horror, ashamed that her rival of all people would be the one to find her in a state such as this. "I- Hey! Put me down!" Her protests rang out into the empty grounds as she struggled with the uninjured half of her body. She was definitely going to the Hufflepuff Common Room, even if that was at the expense of twisting another wrist. There was no way she was going to even step foot into the Hospital Wing if things there were as bad as people made it out to be.
Shooting a sharp glare at the male, Dinara's voice came out sterner than Remy would've probably ever heard her. This was her 'leader voice'; something that she only ever used when one of the neighborhood kids back in her town tried to do something mean. "You better put me down right now! I'd much sooner break my other wrist than to go to the Hospital Wing." Squinting her eyes menacingly, Dinara wriggled. What may have seemed like a feeble attempt to struggle against the (physically much more able, now more than ever) boy was actually a rather cunning plot that Dinara had concocted in her little brain while she was complaining.
Her oversized robes also meant that the opening for the sleeves were much larger than Dinara's actual body frame. Her little wiggles gave her the opportunity to carefully slip her arms out of the robes' sleeves. From there, all she had to do was to drop it like it's hot to escape Remy's hold on her. More specifically, his hold on her robes.
In order not to arouse his suspicion, Dinara had flung her arms around the boy's waist beforehand. What had seemed like an innocent hug was actually her tying the sleeves of her robes together around his waist to give the illusion that her arms were still there. Afterward, she had managed to free her arms from the constrains of the robe sleeves. Pretending to nod meekly at the boy's instructions. Dinara waiting for them to finish walking the length of the upwards incline of the Grounds.
As soon as they reached the top of the little bump in the Grounds, Dinara stopped in her tracks. Immediately, she dropped and started rolling for her life; the slope of the small snow-hill helping to propel her forwards. For all her stupid ideas, this might just be one of the more brilliant ones yet.

He tried his best to ignore all her poor attempts to escape. It was a bit pathetic to see a girl so old still afraid of hospitals. How old was she again? Oh, right. They were the same age, weren't they? He would have to ask for her birthday one day. She kept on whining and whining, Remy tried so hard and this was the punishment? He'd never be nice, ever again! This was it, he would quit. There was no point in doing that. Why were people nice to each other in the first place? Remy lived a good and peaceful life being mean.
He kept his face cold as he sighed. He could see his own breath, that was cool (ha). He was a bit surprised to hear her stern voice. He was surprised she was capable of even sounding like that. Nevertheless, Remy ignored it. She was not getting out of this. He would be the one to blame if she got out now. "Go ahead, break your other wrist. It'll hurt twice as more when they try to fix it. Then you'll never knit again," he might have gone too far with his scare tactics. Obviously, nothing bad would happen to her, these were mere scars compared to what could have happened. And he was glad it was nothing worse, she could have gotten really hurt back there.
When she flung her arms around his waist, he looked down and flung his arms up. Again, no reaction in his eyes, but his cheeks might have reddened a bit. It was out of surprise, nothin' more. He exhaled once again, loudly enough for her to understand how frustrated she had made him. He slowly let his arms slide to his sides and he started walking. Her attempts dropped just like that, it was like a miracle. Remy didn't want to question what had made her suddenly change her mind. Perhaps the terrible pain that she must have been experiencing right now. He felt a bit bad, only a little teeny tiny bit.
He moved awfully slowly with this heavy load latched onto his waist. Besides, this was a hill, damn it! Maybe not steep but still a hill, and he hated nothing just as much as hills. Well, at least at the moment. He didn't suspect anything and the moment his little date for tonight decided to roll away, he stood there, stunned. What was she thinking? Well, it was smart for sure, he would applaud her for that. But it sure did piss him off, now she'd not only break everything in her body, but she'd also get sick!
Remy crossed his arms and watched this loser of a slug roll through the hills. It would have been smart if her ankle wasn't ruined. She could have run away, but now she would have to limp and die from hypothermia somewhere here. He would have caught up to her anyway, why did she even bother? Taking her robes and throwing them over his shoulder, Remy put his hands in his pockets. He knew that you would have to act quickly, but if she insisted on messing around, he would let her suffer. This was what she chose anyway. He might have been feeling warm, but inside he was deadly cold.
As he finally caught up to the girl, he looked at her and gave a sardonic click of a tongue.
"I have the choice to leave you here to suffer until your pain becomes too big to bear and you learn your lesson, but for some reason, I'm choosing to help my rival," he sighed as he shook away any embarrassment that might have followed the next action. He wrapped his hands below her chest and lifted her up. Remy wasn't that lanky and she was rather light even on t. He started dragging her towards the hospital wing.
"If you dare to try and wiggle out of this, I'll have to deck you in the face and hope that was enough to knock your persistent self out," he muttered a threat under his breath. Hey, it was the best for Dinara!

Her escape was truly one meant for the books. With the adrenaline pumping through her veins, she awkwardly shuffled to her feet. Remy's threats fell on deaf ears as she scrambled to reach the castle. She was almost there -- it was no wonder that the girl was a Hufflepuff. Her sheer determination and persistence was somehow enough for her to drag half an injured body halfway across the Grounds!
Remy would be glad to know that Dinara had been fully focused on her escape plan and had not noticed any of his red-facedness. Even if she had, the girl wouldn't have thought much of it! She would've likely attributed it to the cold, anyway.
A sharp click of the tongue alerted Dinara of Remy's presence, to which she responded with a defeated sigh. Of course the boy would be able to catch up to her! Smiling weakly at him, she winced when she tried to use her arms to push him away. Was there really any point to this? Dinara wasn't willing to give up just like that, though. "Well, someone's being awfully nice today." Tossing her head stubbornly, the girl refused the meet Remy's eyes. It was nice of the boy to take care of her, especially when she was being so unbudgingly stubborn! However, her pride also got in the way of just submitting docilely and letting him handle her the way he wanted to, even if it was for her own good.
What he did next, though, rendered her speechless for a solid ten seconds. For Dinara, that was a lot of time. For someone like Remy Alto to unflinchingly pick her up? Involuntarily, too. Her face reddened in embarrassment. How humiliating! For him to be able to pick her up as if she didn't weigh anything!
The stubborn lass wasn't ready to give up, though. Nowhere near it in fact. She never wanted to pull this trick; but desperate means called for desperate measures, she supposed. This method was one that she only ever used on her family members; particularly her aunts and uncle. Turning to face the boy, her large eyes staring up at his, she took in a deep breath to brace herself.
"Could you please not bring me to the Hospital Wing? I'll go anywhere else with you, I promise!" Dinara's large brown eyes stared up pleadingly at the male's own, her bottom lip sticking out as she puffed out her cheeks. Negotiation was a key skill that Dinara was forced to pick up in order to get what she wanted. Besides, her parents often said that her childlike looks were a blessing as it made her look rather cherubim-like, even if she wasn't pretty by the conventional standards. She felt ridiculous doing this, but if it helped her to achieve her goal, Dinara supposed that it wouldn't be too bad.
Hoping that this desperate, last-ditch attempt would work on the ever-so-cold Remy, Dinara decided to ham up her efforts even more. "Galto, I promise I'll make it up to you! Just help me out this once?" She blinked innocently at him, lifting her good hand and placing it on his cheek. As expected with everything about this boy, his cheek felt cold to the touch against Dinara's small hands, even though she had a rough gallant with the snow not too long ago.
It took all of Dinara's pride to execute this last-ditch attempt, but anything was worth giving up if it meant she didn't have to go to that dreaded Hospital Wing. She'd much rather head to a normal, Muggle hospital, where she at least knew what was going on!

He was kinda sorta surprised that she managed to get that far without him. He wasn't sure what fueled her. Perhaps fear or sheer determination. Whatever it was, he was impressed. She should use this passion of hers for more useful things. Maybe she could become a runner after she'd heal this ankle of hers. She could pretend to run away from her problems or even Remy Alto. He caught her sigh and couldn't believe it. Who should be the sighing one in here, Remy Alto or Loser Lucey? Hey, that was kind of a cool nickname. He met her sheepish smile with a sharp glare. He was throwing real daggers in here now.
"I've learned the hard way that being nice doesn't lead to nice consequences. Not with Loser Lucey, at least," he hissed at her. He wasn't being malicious, she was just really testing him. Remy did wonder for a while, why did he not just leave her here? Someone would catch her eventually and force her to go to the hospital wing. Maybe a teacher, maybe some older Hufflepuff. She couldn't run like this for an eternity. But something in him was tugging at his heartstrings (according to Remy, this was 'unfortunate') and he just had to help her. What a stupid time for him to feel guilt.
He finally made her shut it for a few fleeting seconds. It was better when she didn't speak or even look at him. If Remy had the choice, he would love it if she stopped breathing too on top of this. It was awkward, feeling her chest rise and fall in his arms. This wasn't really how he had pictured close contact with girls, not in this setting. Even if he had initiated this physical contact, it was still very awkward. He felt rather stupid, like a dad carrying his large daughter who was afraid of what the nurse would do. Fix her wrist and ankle, duh! Nothing terrible what she had possibly envisioned.
When she turned to face him, he braced himself. He tried to shake off the redness and heat off his cheek, well, it didn't seem to go anywhere. She took a deep breath, he could feel it. As he had speculated, she started whining. Rolling his eyes to a) protect himself from the weird eye contact and b) signal how done he was with her, he exhaled sharply once again. She was making a simple task very hard.
Well, upon closer inspection and the effect of doe eyes and puffed cheeks, she wasn't as 'unpretty' as he had claimed. He gulped loudly, it even made him think for a while if he should really just drop her back to the snow and storm off back to the Slytherin common room and throw himself into the fireplace. Shaking those thoughts again, he looked at her with his blank face again. It was a defense mechanism, he couldn't let her know what he was thinking of. Come on Remy, man up! You know how to do the puppy eyes too!
"Believe me, I would very gladly drop your demonic self back where you came from, but you're hurt and I can't leave you like this," he pondered before saying the word 'demonic'. For now, she looked rather angelic. He let out another hiss, narrowing his eyes as he continued dragging her. She really made him feel torn. To drop her and run away like a little school girl or just stick with what he had now?
When she touched his cheek, he completely lost whatever train of thought he had before. Remy choked on his own spit and coughed a few times on his own shoulder before being 'fine' again. "If you think your 'Venus de Milo' ways can convince me, you're wrong. We're going, no whining," he tried tilting his head for her to be unable to reach his cheek. He failed and just accepted that this was how it was. Remy became awfully conscious of how many people there were around him. None, thank the gods. He would die from shame if there was someone who saw what was going on between the two of them.
"You know that's a really unfair and dirty technique to use. Who said I want you to follow me?" he muttered under his breath again most to himself, continuing to drag her towards the castle that was to his fortune, right there.

Loser Lucey? Really? While it did have a rather catchy ring to it, it wasn't exactly the best nickname that Remy could've given to Dinara. The girl would've never let this slide by, but she was the one who needed Remy's help now!
"I- I'll make it up to you, promise! Really!"
Gritting her teeth in frustration, Dinara dismissed any form of comeback that she may have instinctively prepared. If she wanted to increase her chances of getting help from the boy, she just had to, as people would say it, suck it up. She can regain all the pride she wanted after this whole fiasco was over and she could also go back to being just good ol' rivals with Mr. Remy Alto.
It was with dismay that she realised that even her last resort hadn't seemed to work on him. She had completed missed noticing all the little hisses and blushing that had plagued poor Remy; Dinara merely operated on what he had been saying. Demonic? Why, the nerve of this-
Taking a deep breath, Dinara cringed internally at what she was about to do. Absolutely hating the fact that she'll have to do this, she reassured herself that this would likely be the last time that she'd have to resort to acting cute in order to get Remy Alto to help he
Batting her lashes upwards towards the male, she scrunched up her nose and she put on a higher-pitched, sweeter voice that was quite unlike her usual warm voice. If one were to liken it to anything, if Dinara's usual voice was like a warm fireplace, this put-on voice was like the clear tinkling of bells on a Spring day. "Galtoooo! Fine, if you insist on bringing me to the Hospital Wing, could you at least help me out with the presents that I haven't finished?" Smiling daintily (blegh!), she cupped her warm hand on his cheek and brought it closer to her own, her eyes wide and hopeful. She furrowed her brows in worry when he coughed -- they couldn't have two sick people here! Cocking her head, she looked at him, her eyes wide with concern.
"Galto you can't fall sick here! Are you alright?"
Just for the moment, Dinara's facade of cuteness had dropped out of genuine concern for him. The reality was that Dinara hated herself internally for even having to resort these methods at all! She didn't exactly like having to rely on her 'charms' to gain people's approval, though she supposed in this situation she didn't exactly have a choice.
Dinara shrugged at the words that Remy had muttered under his breath. She didn't exactly think tha.. the guy wanted her to follow him, though she couldn't see how whatever she had said was 'dirty' or 'unfair'.
He seemed unusually quiet and oddly... Stiff? Dinara felt something off with the boy, but she couldn't exactly pinpoint what it was! Perhaps he really was upset with her? Sighing a little, she looked down rather forlornly. "Look. Thank... Th-" She choked on her words. Why was this so hard to say? "Th-Thank you, is what I meant to say. I know you're going through a lot of unnecessary trouble to help me."
If she were to be completely honest, Dinara wasn't sure why Remy was even helping her in the first place. Did rivals... help each other? Would Dinara help him if he was ever caught in a predicament? She figured she would. As much as he was an annoying thorn in her sides, Dinara still couldn't bear to leave a friend in need.

This time he let out a really, really frustrated grunt. He didn't need any of her favors or anything like that, she could quit trying already. Remy would do just fine without any of her assistance. She was the one who was in the need of favor now. He shook his head as an answer to her pleas that fell on completely deaf ears. He was glad that they were almost there, he could just drop her to the nurse and run for his dear life (so much about the hospital wing not being scary).
"Don't grit your teeth like that at me. I'm the one who should be doing that. Let's deal with your wrist and ankle now and then talk about favors," Remy said, letting go of her. It would be better if she at least used her other good leg to move. As light as she was, he couldn't go on forever! He had been holding on to her just because she was trying to escape earlier. He wrapped her arm around his neck and supported her. Time she learned how to support herself!
Just as he had thought that everything had stopped, she started exploiting his weakness again. Batting her eyelashes innocently and covering her own voice with twice as much honey, she tried to convince him once more. Dinara did her little nose scrunch again, Remy couldn't help but liken her to a bunny. She had the courage to cup his cheek again, even bringing him closer to her than before. This time he had bigger defenses on, it was like there was an invisible wall between them. She used that terrific nickname on him which almost made Remy gag. Well, at least it wasn't 'Rem'. He felt his cheek burning up against her hand now. Not really the greatest time!
"I can't even kniii-iiit, I'll pass, thank you very much." he matched his fake smile and tone with hers. Now he was just being purely annoying. She would have to finish them herself, for she had started them herself too. He couldn't help at all, he had the attention span of a toddler. He was a fast learner, but Remy knitting? Never. He'd rather jump from the Ravenclaw tower.
Her face changed as he coughed and he immediately shook his head. "I'm not sick, don't worry. It's just...uhh...the allergies," he furrowed his brows. What kind of an excuse was that? Well, he wasn't actually going sick, but he couldn't really say 'Sorry, your sickly sweetness made me choke on my spit'.
He was caught very much off guard as she thanked him. He even stopped and stared at her for a while. Was SHE the one going sick? This seemed to be very unnatural from her. He decided to try her forehead with his palm, standing there in silence for a while. Nothing seemed to be wrong. Did she hit her head that bad? "We better hurry up, you're going insane," he said, patting her back two times (a bit too roughly) to show his support.
"Can't have you sick and mad on top of that. Who else is going to skip rocks with me and...grill squids," he hated the latter part, but he had to cheer her up somehow. In all honesty, she did not look like she needed cheering up. Dinara looked emotionally just fine, she was fine enough to whine and try to manipulate her rival. Maybe her head wasn't hit that bad if she still maintained that part of herself. As they arrived on top of the hill, he carefully let her go, still holding on to her good hand just in case she would try and escape.
"It took me an awfully long time to get you here, so if you try to run away now...uhh... I'll be sad?" he sounded very unsure. What would he do if she ran away? Probably leave her somewhere here alone, and when he would see her again all wrapped in various casts, he would just tell her that she should have listened to her. But he felt bad, she really seemed like she wanted to finish her presents.

The sight of the dreary Hospital Wing loomed closer and closer. Guess Dinara's "feminine charm" didn't work on Remy. Not that she had much to begin with, but it was worth a shot. When he put her down, she didn't protest. Her hair seemed to deflate along with her mood and she simply lost her morale, losing the will to even struggle.
His rejection of her request crushed what little spirit she had left. Just her luck, now she'd be stuck in the Hospital Wing and be unable to complete her Christmas presents in time! For the first time, Dinara didn't retort with any witty remarks. Her fear of disappointing her friends and family had actually been realised,
Nodding meekly, she let Remy support her to the entrance of the Hospital wing, her good leg rather numb due to the long period of inactivity. Defeated, she removed her arm that was slung over his neck. Bowing to him as an acknowledgement of her thanks, she limped in through the large oak doors that forebode her ill fate in the Hospital Wing.
Sure, one might say that young Dinara Lucey was simply being dramatic. Indeed she was, going into the Hospital Wing was nowhere near as bad as she's envisioned. In fact, a quick spell would've fixed her relatively minor injuries in a matter of minutes. Weakly waving goodbye to her rival-friend who had helped her, Dinara ducked into the Hospital Wing, bracing herself to meet her fate.
She was sad, no doubt, that her little diabolical plan to get Remy to help her had failed. The final straw that ultimately broke the camel's back was the fact that she was more than likely unable to finish any Christmas presents nor cards, and that she was likely to live the rest of her lives hated by the people cherished because she had ruined everything!
Dinara was really starting to feel like the Grinch that stole Christmas, ruining the festive cheer for everyone. Remy didn't slip her mind either, she suddenly felt very guilty for giving the unexpectedly kind-hearted boy so much trouble during the Christmas season! She had to make it up to everyone, but she had no idea how to!
The great Dinara Lucey was stumped. She even admitted it to herself -- a great accomplishment for the proud lass; something that she'd never have done back in her hometown where everything was so controlled and familiar. Dinara's method of doing things was to typically live in denial and power through whatever with persistence. While this may seem like a stupid thing to many, it has served her well for the 11 years of her life.
Sighing, she limped into the gloomy depths of the Hospital Wing. Come what may, she supposed that she'll just have to find another way to deal with it.

He sensed her whole aura change from her usual snappy and stubborn self to someone who had just been cornered and defeated. Remy almost felt bad for her before realizing that she had been in the wrong from the start. He sighed for the fiftieth time today, shaking his head in disagreement. He couldn't believe that something like puppy eyes and honey sugar covered voices made him falter so easily. He should clear his head as soon as she would get to the hospital wing safely.
Her emotions were strong enough to even reach Remy. Something like guilt mixed with amusement as he watched everything crumble around her. She must have really cared about her presents and the people she was going to give them to. Even if Remy would have wanted to help, he could never knit. Those kinds of things confused the simple-minded boy that preferred to play around than sit inside and knit.
He decided that he should probably give her a Christmas present too. Maybe she was a rival (he still was not quite sure about what she was. For now she was Loser Lucey) but he still didn't like seeing people stumped. Especially the people he got along with at some level. Running his fingers through his hair, the boy watched on as the wild-haired girl limped to her demise. He hesitated but decided to run after her and give her words of encouragement before she would step into the lion's lair.
"Cheer up," was all he could say as he bumped her sides gently with his elbow.
He gave her something akin to a smile before he left. Better for her to go there alone, she probably wouldn't want him to tag along and see her at her weakest.
