Next Generation Witch

private thread. 17/12/18, on the grounds.
Hogwarts was often known for being a school of chaos and growing up fast. With Professor Lear running the school, there was often an air of fear around the castle. Of course, how couldn’t there be when the hufflepuffs nearly seemed to be flayed alive, every turn they made? Eris thanked her lucky stars that she wasn’t a Hufflepuff, even if the prospect of going on adventures excited and terrified her at the same time. Still, why couldn’t she have her own adventure at school?
One of the things that fascinated Eris currently was Harry Potter. Sure, the child went through many phases, but she idolized the boy who lived in a way that bordered on obsession. It wasn’t the kind of obsession that was creepy, just the idol worship of a child in awe of her hero. In truth, Eris wanted to be Harry Potter. She wanted to be the person who saved the wizarding world, and she would be that person! If she could find whatever had caused Ben to turn into a masked prick.
There would be time to find and adventure with her friends, but for now, it was the Holidays and there was an air of peace. Nothing bad had happened in a while, and the Castle seemed to be settling down. It almost seemed like everything was going back to normal--or at least the faint sense of normality that one can possess in a school for the arcane arts. Her recent obsession with Harry Potter had prodded Eris to want the kind of adventures she had craved in childhood, even before she had known who Harry Potter was.
She wanted hours of fun, pretending to be someone she wasn’t. She wanted to lose herself in an alternate world, in which good and evil fought and good triumphed. Where the world was linear, not spinning off it’s blue and green axis every few seconds. The world in which superheroes fought bad guys and won, and that was all.
The snow fell outside the corridors Eris was currently stalking through, and she checked at a nonexistent watch. Used to her grandfather’s habit of checking his watch, Eris was a bit taken aback by her own motion of looking down at her wrist, even as she shook her head and stomped forward into the abyss of snowfall. She had invited a few friends to come play fight in the yard, and had told all of them to invite their own friends. She wanted to reenact the battle of Hogwarts in all it’s glory.
Letting the snow cover her body and soul, the bitter chill freezing over any unwanted emotions, Eris let out a yell of joy. Warm robes keeping the chill from really penetrating the small girl’s body, she bent down and pulled her wand out of it’s place in her shoe. Eris didn’t normally put her wand in her shoe, but her pockets were overflowing with the fabrics of a scarf, mittens, and earmuffs. Taking out the wand and waving it through the air in a motion that only drew out sparks, Eris waited for the rest of the kids to show up.
Looking around and sighing, she folded her arms, wand still held in one hand. "Come on, come on, don't leave me here alone."

Next Generation Witch

She had no idea what she was doing here. There, it was out. Why had she agreed to doing this? It would take away from her time studying, just add more fuel to the fire that her father was planning to eventually unleash on her. Was this really worth it? Yes.
Hogwarts was beautiful during the winter. Truly, she had never seen anything like it. The Bishop Manor, back in Liverpool, got quite a lot of snow, but nothing like this. This snow was a pure white, snowflakes little blessings falling from the clouds and landing on her head. Sometimes, the ginger-blonde would tilt her head back, catch a few of the white fluffs on her tongue. They felt like nothing, tasted like nothing... But still, Rhea knew that they landed on her tongue.
Even the trees looked more beautiful. Perhaps it was because the trees at home, she associated with thoughts of her parents. And of course, those soured her mood, caused her happiness to crash. But here? Here, she was free from their clutches. Able to do anything she wanted, as long as they followed school rules, of course. Most school rules.
The snow was a large factor to the reason she had convinced herself to come out here. The other was that, simply put, she missed her friends. Rhea had not spent time with any of them, neither one on one nor in a group, in over a month. And to someone who got her energy from spending time with others, that did not bode well with her mentality. Her heart fought against her mind, and obviously, her heart won. It was why she found herself out here, trudging through the snow, rather than inside curled up by the fire. This right here, what she was about to do, was so much more like her nature than studying.
Due to the weather, Rhea had the common sense to pack on as many layers as she could. Unlike her usual attire, this was much more laid back. Knowing that spending time with Eric always promised an adventure, Rhea opted to wear sweatpants and a sweatshirt. She wore a t-shirt underneath, one that her nanny had bought her. To further protect her against the chill of the Scottish weather, she wore a hat, as well as scarves and some gloves. Snow gloves.
Finally spotting Eris's short head not too far away, Rhea stifled a giggle and picked up a clump of snow. She molded it into a ball, then slowly crept further and further. While the metamorph's back was turned, Rhea launched the snowball right smack at her back! As soon as she did, she dissolved into giggles, literally. The Bishop collapsed onto the ground and enjoyed the feel of the cold substance against her exposed skin. It was nice, contrary to the warmth that the constant turmoil of emotions inside her usually brought her.
Guessing that Eris would try to get whoever threw the snowball back, Rhea attempted to... somehow... camouflage within the snow. Rather than actually doing anything useful, the girl looked more like an idiot trying to burrow her way into the snow. But hey, if she couldn't see Eris, Eris couldn't see her, right?
the trouble is, if you don't risk anything -- you risk more.
