Leaf had listened to all the other first years talking to each other for the past few minutes, but had never even considered joining in their little conversations. Without a second thought, they joined the only empty boat left, Boat 4, and struggled to keep their balance as the boat swayed from side to side beneath their feet. Slowly, Leaf sat on the bench and breathed a sigh of relief when the boat settle in the water.
Inside their pocket was their wand and one of the school books that had been on the list of required equipment. As they all waited for the boats to set off into the lake, Leaf pulled out the book and began to read about all the spells that first years were expected to learn.
A few minutes passed. All the boats filled up with people, and Leaf moved to the back of the one they were in so no one would notice them and stare. Two boys sat on the row in front of them, chatting about some kind of sport or whatever. At the very front of the boat was a girl- Her face glowed in the light of the lantern beside her.

Helena took a shaky breath staggering off of the vast red express. Helena’s breathing was rather rapid, the young honey blonde hair girl whipped her head back and forth examining all of the first years and other students that were pouring off of the vast express that brought them to their destination. Helena’s ocean blue eyes examined everything around her from the starry sky above to the wisp of smoke that trailed behind the train.
Exhaling a shaky breath Helena scanned the crowds of students moving around. The young honey blonde girl caught word from the Professor that stood nearby. As the first years were ushered to the boats Helena looked around curiously her hair bounced in little ripples of waves. Scanning the boats Helena went towards an empty boat sitting in it her ocean blue eyes held insecurities and nerves. Helena stayed quiet watching the other students board onto the boats surrounding her. The cool night air bristled against Helena’s cheeks caressing her ivory pale skin. The starry night sky sparkled like little jewels above the first years. Helena’s gaze moved upwards towards the sky; her nerves felt rattled as her brain seemed to swirl with many thoughts.
While Helena was lost in thought she wondered if she would see anyone she would know. Helena remembered her parents mentioning how a few of their “friends” who have kids around Helena’s age attended Hogwarts this year. Helena recalled being forced to interact with a few years and months prior though Helena wasn’t much of making friends she did yearn for some interaction and people to call friends. Relaxing her chin on the palm of her left hand Helena leaned forward leaning slightly over the boat looking upon the glistening water. The young first years thoughts swirling around her in a rather nerve wrecking kind of way. Making the young girl look quite paler then she already was her honey glistening blonde hair caressed her face hugging it tightly as she continued to be lost in her own little thoughts.

Eri sat in a boat as she looked up at the castle, which was now in full view. Her eyes filled with wonder at how large the castle was, she stared at the lights. The words of the other first years were drowned out by the sight, and it was hard to understand conversations anyways. She had spent months preparing for this, she reminded herself. She had no reason to be nervous. Unless she ended up in a house she didn’t belong in. She didn’t particularly feel like she would ever belong in Gryffindor. But maybe that was just her. She had heard that others really wanted to get In Gryffindor, though she wasn’t sure why.
As the boat slowly approached the castle, Eri made a list of subjects she wanted to learn.
1. Care of Magical Creatures
2. Charms
3. Herbology
And 4, Transfiguration.
Maybe that was a lot to learn in just one school year, she reminded herself, just in case she couldn’t learn all of those subjects at once. Or was it? Maybe Hogwarts encouraged students to take a lot of classes. Oh well, she thought. Either way, she would still do her best. She spent more of her time observing other people. Noticing how they wore their hair and things of the sort, and trying to pick up on any interesting conversation.

September 1st 23-------------- INGRESSO PRIMO ANNO - Entering Boat 4 ------- -------Great Lake
------- ------- Remedy's Dialogue #796f4e------- -------
Awestruck eyes were greeted with a plethora of twinkling stars overhead, although the balls of light were shrouded over by wispy clouds as well as a thick fog that hung high in the air.
Remedy's feet landed with a demonstrated thud onto the platform as she exited the Hogwarts Express. She couldn't resist but lingering for a moment, solely to glance upwards at the railtruck and, after doing so, now felt particularly small but only for an instance. The dissonances of the lost, muddled, and restless children met her frigid ears before abruptly propelling her forward causing Remedy to withdraw with an annoyed scowl. Did they not have but a whole railcarriage ride to prepare for this moment, or did they just revel in behaving like buffoons?
"Morons," she murmured under her breath as her brown beady eyes observed the overgrowing flock of nobodies, luggage in tow.
A booming voice attracted her attention, dropping her of her hardened and caustic gaze for a moment. Before her a few paces stood a brunette with cupped hands urging the attention of the first years, and with a confident stride after abandoning her luggage, did Remedy make her path forward with a disregard of those standing in the way. She observed as the older students also made their journey towards Hogwarts Castle, but young Remedy would await further direction within a growing congregation of First Years surrounding her.
While heeding the caretaker's introductory speech, Remedy's mind toyed with the surname. Greer? Greer. Nobody of importance, surely. She would have recognized the name from the Pureblood registry if the name derived from Pureblood genealogy. Remedy rolled her eyes -- it appeared Hogwarts had lost its touch since her father had attended. What a shame.
A sigh, accompanied by a whirl of condensation, departed her frost-touched lips in silent mentation. The mention of the Sorting Ceremony captured Remedy's bemused gaze yet again. Her lips curved into a smile as mirth rejuvenated her once bored spirit imagining it would soon time wear the colors of her father's house, Slytherin. The House of Ambition and Cunning; the house of a Norden, and a long line of Slytherin Norden alumni at that. Even her cousin would be sorted in accordance, and young Remedy had no doubt she would do the same.
As the caretaker stepped aside, boats hovering above the water's surface would be revealed. Remedy would allow other students to choose fill the boats, sizing up her fellow First Years in hopes of discovering good company. A honey-blonde haired girl took seat in one of the few remaining boats, Remedy narrowed her eyes. It wasn't until she slightly faced Remedy's direction that she took familiarity to the girl. Rose; Helena, Rose. They had meet and seemingly grown up together, only meeting intermittently during the year at holiday balls and Pureblood socialites.
They weren't friends, not even truly acquaintances as their parents had to encourage dialogue between the girls, but a familiar face was a welcomed sight the least. With a supportive hand from the caretaker, Remedy stepped clumsily into the wooden vessel, a grimace crossing her lips back at the caretaker as the girl took her seat. She didn't fight their contact as Remedy knew it was necessary, a caretaker's job to protect the young students, but yet couldn't fight the nerve to not remark about her disgust. Instead, she slowly peeled her glove from her right hand -- the very gloved hand Greer had grasped to board the boat -- and dropped it into the lake disgustedly.
As additional students boarded other vacant vessels, Remedy breathed and took the moment of serenity to collect herself from scathing thoughts. She crossed her legs and placed her hands, one gloved and the other not, neatly in her lap and looked down solemnly. After a few moments of silence, a small hint of a smile touched her lips as she studied Helena's caustic gaze before her, silently noting the way her body was stiff and closed off. It couldn't have been from the cold, but the girl didn't bother inquiring Helena's state, allowing the other girl to initiate conversation. Until she didn't.
There remained a silence between them; it seemed either Helena had not yet grown out of her shyness.
"Helena, charmed," Remedy remarked with a smirk, a touch of pride and affluence embedded in her words breaking the silence. "You must be excited for the ceremony,"

Helena broke out of her little day dream state hearing a familiar voice speak to her. Glancing towards Remedy, Helena continued to rest her head on her hand looking the girl up and down quietly. Helena barely knew the other girl besides forced interactions because of their parents. Helena always felt strange around other purebloods; maybe it was their way of being brought up or the girls unappealing shyness that made her different.
Helena smiled softly towards Remedy simple closed mouth smile that showed off the ivory pale girl's shyness. Her honey blonde hair continued to frame her face perfectly as the wind nipped at the girls ears and cheeks giving them a slight pinkness to them.
“Hello Remedy… It has been a while has it not?”
Helena spoke softly; her tone was light in tone with a hint of an elegant posh tone. Even through her shyness one could tell Helena grew up in a proper household. Straightening up in her seat Helena faced towards Remedy noticing the girl’s appearance. Noting she held herself up with great poise. Helena placed her hands gently in her lap fidgeting her fingers slightly.
Helena was not one for social interactions; her shoulders seemed tight while her soft heart-shaped face seemed a tad tense. Helena could feel the butterflies causing a storm inside of her stomach. Her bangs covered her left eye slightly while the rest of her honey blonde hair caressed her face gently. The cool breeze surrounding the first years did not seem to settle the young girl either.
Helena’s sea blue eyes swam with nerves and a tad bit of fear though she tried to keep a well poise posture. After all, the young girl had a family name to uphold. Her father would be rather upset if she embarrassed the Rose family. That was the one thing she wished not to do. Helena relaxed slightly though her nerves were still very high. Normal for any other eleven year old but not one from the Rose family. Helena did not wish to disappoint her family that would be quite horrible if that happened in the slightest.

Chatty, this batch of first years. Not a bad thing, Finley supposed. In fact, Fin would rather be stuck with a group of talkative preteens than a silent group. Kids always had the most interesting things to say.
After a final head count, Finley would call out once more. "Right, everyone here? Good." She took a seat amongst a group of three, before looking forward. "Forward!"
At once, the boats would all lurch forward, jostling the students inside just a bit. "Whoa, steady everyone." Fin cocked a brow, this was unusual behavior from the boats. Another charm to update, she thought to herself. She finally turned to the three young ladies who she was sharing a boat with. "Nice to see you all getting along. It seems we have an artist in our midst, too!"
And then, the sound of creaking wood pulled Finley's attention away. One, two, now three boats were veering off to the left. No, now there were seven. The same sound to her right, her head turned to follow it. Now boats were veering off to the right, as the boats were clearly dividing into three distinct groups. "Hey! HEY! No steering the boats!" But a quick glance made it clear that no student was attempting to navigate the boats away. No, this was some magical force at work. "Shit," Finley swore under her breath, forgetting she was in the presence of children for a moment as she pulled out her wand and tried to think of something, anything, to try and pull the groups together. Any sort of charm, of spell, anything. Think, Fin, you took seven years of magic courses, use something. Magic was, embarrassingly, never the caretaker's strong suit. Finally, it came to her. "Accio!" She pulled one of the boats that was drifting away (Boat 3 - @Boston Cardoni), but perhaps a bit too forcefully, as she wasn't able to stop the momentum as it crashed into her own boat, the impact sending a crack into Finley's own boat (Boat 1 - @Ashley Young, @Astra Norrick, @Sere Nade). "Reparo!"
Only a small trickle of water made it into the boat before the caretaker was able to repair it. Taking a moment to get her bearings, Finley looked around. The other clusters of boats were too far away now, but they seemed to vaguely be headed in the same direction as the castle. For now, Finley could see them, and that would have to do.
"Is everyone okay?"

OOC notes:
Uh oh, it seems the boats are splitting up! Not to worry though, your boats have stayed with Finley. What on earth could be going on?
As a reminder, please do not write beyond what I have described in the mod posts (seeing the castle, the boats moving, etc).
Also, apologies for the late mod post. I injured my hand and leg quite badly shortly after this post, and wasn't able to type. But I'm all healed up and ready to go now!
The list below is for tagging purposes. Only the list in the first post will be regularly updated. Assume all boats are full, as any newcomers will be acting as if they have been there from the beginning.

Lucy heard one of the boys ask where they were from. "Well, I'm from Watford in England. And you?", she said. While she waited for him to answer, something seemed... off. It looked like their boat started to drift away a bit. Was this supposed to happen? Lucy could hear the caretaker trying to pull the boats back together. This resulted in another boat crashing into the caretaker's. It seemed like the caretaker couldn't do anything else. "Uh, guys? Do any of you know why our boat is drifting away from the others? I don't think this is right", Lucy asked. She thought about what could've caused this. Did someone jinx the boats? Was this some kind of prank to scare them a bit? If it was, then it definitely worked on her.@Kit Isabelle Blaine, @Kenyi Diallo, @Edmund Ayala
And who would jinx a boat full of first years? It's not like they have any enemies yet. Or at least she didn't. Maybe someone in the other boats has enemies and the person just jinxed every boat since they didn't know which boat the first year would get in? No, that sounds very unlikely. And since they were still going towards the castle, everything was relatively fine. Lucy could even still see the caretaker, so they would probably get to the castle safely. Hopefully.

Sere looked at Astra and said, "Thanks." This girl looks really friendly and seems easy to get along with, plus the hair that Sere's really fall into at the first sight. Sere hopes that she will get the opportunity to interact with Astra at Hogwarts someday. Simultaneously with Ashley's response, Sere saw Finley Greer boarding all the boats. The boats that carry the first years is moving forward to the Great Lake.
When Finley Greer greeted her and the two girls around her, Sere gave a small nod as a polite response. At first, the boats moved together in the same direction, but a few moments later there was a movement -out of nowhere- which made Sere's boat drifted for seconds.
Right after that, Sere's frowned her eyebrows. I heard the creak of another boats. There's no way we are separating, ri— Whoa! What happened?! Sere looked to the right and left, realizing that each of the three boats besides the one she's on are moving to the opposite different direction. She could see The Caretaker looks quite panicked. Finley Greer casts a spell that makes one of the ships pull back closer to theirs, causing a collision that cracks one side of the boat.
Sere held Astra and Ashley's arms to balancing herself. Her shoes were a little wet, but The Caretaker quickly responded with another spell that made the crack in the boat disappear as if they were never exist. When Greer asked their condition, Sere answered, "I'm fine," turning head to her new friends, "You both okay?"

September 1st, 2023Boat Four [@Helena Rose @Remedy Norden]Pyxis roused from his brief nap as the train screeched to a stop. He turned over and squeezed his eyes shut, acting like some bratty child who kept asking for five more minutes until their parents had to rip them off the bed. However, he didn't have parents to whip him into shape here. Well, his parents didn't bother with that sort of thing back home either, but in lieu of their potential changing priorities, the bustling of his compartment-mates was the thing to wake him.
The boy blinked away the weariness of the late evening and joined his companions as they collected their belongings and tracked down the narrow hallway, out to the station. Pyxis was honestly just going through the motions, not really knowing what to expect from his second arrival at magic school. The platform was remarkably ordinary, but as he stood around with his group of tiny peers, he drew in a deep breath and looked to the skies. The bright stars he remembered from summer camp hung overhead, and while Eastbourne was nowhere near as light polluted as London, the dark blue ceiling of his hometown had nothing on this.
As his gaze was locked upwards, the loud shout of a tall woman caught his attention and the first year group moved towards her call. Pyxis briefly hesitated, unwilling to leave his belongings without his own supervision, but the absolute surety of the rest of the first years had him scrambling after them.
The woman introduced herself as the caretaker of the castle, and Pyxis wondered if she was the only one. Surely not, right? There's no way one person could be responsible for that humongous thing. But the lady said she was the caretaker. The. One and only. Pyxis gaped at the woman in awe, sure that she had to be one of the most powerful magic people he would ever meet. He could barely pay attention to her speech as he hoped she could perform some caretaker magic for them, but the mention of boats startled him. The train journey was much more pleasant than the portkey he'd used to travel to summer camp with, but even the thought of getting on a boat reminded him of his portkey puke aftermath.
But the waters of the lake lapped gently against its banks, so Pyxis held his tummy to keep it safe and tried his hardest to make it into the boat with Miss Greer. Unfortunately, the three open spots were taken up almost immediately, so the young boy turned to locate his compartment-mates and was dismayed to find that they had disappeared, either already in boats or hidden by the crowd of fresh-faced first years. Pouting, he sought out an empty seat.
Coming across one boat that held only two girls, the boy entered softly, careful to not rock the small thing too much. As he contemplated introducing himself, he watched as the dark-haired girl removed her glove and let it drop into the black water of the lake.
"Oh, that's not -," Pyxis began, but he was cut off by the same girl speaking in a cadence that resembled the rich fogeys his parents often dealt with. The name that left her lips was not his, and the honey-blonde girl returned her greeting with a posh tone of her own, so Pyxis bit back whatever he was going to say - he had no idea what he was going to say - and waited as a fourth entered their boat and the fleet set off.
He enjoyed the calm atmosphere, intrigued by the serenity that washed over him even as he was presently sailing across a lake that one could easily mistake for a bottomless abyss. As he watched the dark waters in silence, the craft lurched forward. Pyxis grabbed onto the gunwale with one hand and the edge of his seat with the other, balancing himself.
"Woah!" Panicked now, he looked for the caretaker desperately and gave a look of disbelief as he saw her waving around a stick. It took him a few seconds to remember that the stick - her wand - was in fact the best thing the caretaker could have been using at that moment. The woman spoke in a language he didn't understand and he gasped as one of the boats came crashing into her own. He was right, she was most definitely powerful! And he could've had a front row seat to the magic if he'd been just a bit faster at boarding her boat.
Pyxis took note of the diverging paths that the boats began to take and he felt relieved to be stuck in the group with Miss Greer. Wiping some anxious sweat off his brow, Pyxis looked to the others on his boat.
"Are you guys okay?"

Merlin, was that one of the most awkward train rides that he ever had the misfortune to ride. Uly had only hoped that he had bit more luck when it came to this next part of the indoctrination of Hogwarts than being paired with the exact person who he hadn't wanted to see. Uly could only hope that she would fall on her stupid face when they were entering the Castle or worse, be shifted from Slytherin. He wasn't an idiot though, she was as cruel as ambitious which were notorious traits for the viper pit that he also was hoping to settle into as well.
He hadn't felt particularly anything more than another at his ripe age of 11, but that didn't mean much. Uly felt the pull of danger rushing through his blood, a keen sense of observation, and an otherwise strong knowing of self-protection and propulsion through his own interests. There was no possible way he could be a Hufflepuff when he grasped for his desires so prominently and without pause.
While the remainder of his belongings were held with the various staff members, Ulysses hopped off of the train with the rest of the First Years with eyes brightened at the evening sky and boats that would bring them to their very first night at Hogwarts.
His gaze met the handful of boats through muddied vision and otherwise dark shadows to their transport to the castle. Uly spotted his cousin's blonde locks and often would've gone to sit next to her but knowing that Remedy would be near had him turn on his heels to a boat with two students already sitting. Without any hesitation, the eleven year old found his way onto the boat and took a spot near the back where there seemed to be the most stability and balance.
" Hello, i'm Ulysses, or Uly. Hope you don't mind that I came to crash your party. " With a typical wave and a casual smirk on his face, the tall child sat to an otherwise quiet boat ride that sent the collection of what felt like little toy ships off into the dark ether of the Black Lake (a whole map was given to Ulysses before he joined, making sure he could study and learn before he was finally off properly.)
As the boat began to move forward and the castle closed in on them all, his eyes lit up slightly until he realized that he was now a part of a handful of boats who was no longer traveling with the teacher properly. " Well, didn't that just turn this little field trip a bit more exciting. " Crossing his arms over his chest, he hadn't felt any need to worry.
" Probably some bit if you folks are about to hyperventilate, no need to get yourselves worked up too much. " There, that would be the only bone he would throw the other two.
