Her sudden ballerina move sparked a face of surprise even in the usually rather expressionless Remy. He looked at her with his eyes more widened as she grabbed his hands. Gah, cooties! This was it, these were his last moments. He'd die any moment now in her arms, how tragic. Just as his own body temperature was naturally cold like the one of a reptile, her was alarmingly warm. He wondered if she was feverish or like this all the time. It was a bit comforting though, getting his hands warmed by someone, even if they were trying to assert their dominance (albeit poorly) this way.
She kept wrinkling her nose all the time, he wondered if this was a common habit of hers. It reminded him of his little sister's rabbit that had a twitchy nose like that too. The thought of the beloved rabbit that would always munch on the cables and almost get electrocuted due to Remy's messiness made him smile. As much as he liked Hogwarts, he missed being home. Thankfully, the Christmas break was near and he could meet his family once again. Letters felt very distant to him, he felt sad reading them and stopped writing them altogether at some point.
She squeezed him awake once again and he felt the slight embarrassment settle in. Dinara was telling him something about how she was not a princess to rescue. She had taken it a bit too seriously, then again, that was what he commonly aimed for. If someone needed rescuing right now, it was most definitely Remy... Even if she wore her emotions on her sleeve unlike him, he still found her interesting. Most people easily submitted into him picking on them and didn't think much about it. This girl resisted. It both amused him and ticked him off. Different was always intriguing, but it was scary too.
Looking in her eyes with his dead, grey gaze, he was met with sparkling mischief. She leaned forward, and as much as Remy would want to lean backward, he didn't. The boy stubbornly stood in his place, wondering what was going on inside of her mind. What was she up to now? What was going on in his mind? After all, it was a big jumble of unclassified thoughts forming a blank slate.
She challenged him to face whatever fears he had and throw that pebble right at where that alleged squid was. He wouldn't appreciate someone throwing pebbles at his house either, but if she presented him with a challenge like this, he would most likely take it. She joked about grilling a squid and laughed loudly, receiving an unsure look from Remy. But the squid was friendly!
"I'm a vegetarian," he stated quietly under his breath. His hands lingered for a while before he tried wriggling out of her hands. Finally freeing himself, he dug out that pebble he had found earlier from his pocket and resumed his stance. He wasn't afraid of the squid anymore...he felt a bit bad for it! He lowered his hand and hesitated. He felt guilty. But another peek at her aggravating face and he raised his hand once again, flicking his wrist. From the get-go, he could feel that he had failed. Cursing his hesitation from before, he watched the stone skip once again.
One...two...three...four...no more?
The pebble sunk and so did his mood with it. Turning towards the girl, he scratched the back of his head awkwardly. What was he supposed to say now? Curse her and her family and promise to haunt their owl residence forever? He didn't even know where she lived. Well, unless you judged from her rather English accent that he had perceived. Putting his hand on his hip, he shifted the way to his other leg.
"Congratulations, luck seems to be on your side today," he might have sounded a bit harsh, but his eyes had the kind of glimmer that conveyed his true meanings. He was just teasing her and expected to get teased back now.

Raising an eyebrow at the boys' seemingly panicked expression, Dinara wondered if he had perhaps been uncomfortable with the physical contact. Back in her hometown, children never really thought much of gender or of any seeming rivalries between boys and girls. They all simply talked to who they wanted to talk to, did what they wanted to do. (Well, within realms of reason, of course.)
The girl watched as the boy seemed to drift off into some kind of a dreamlike state. Was he okay? Did touching him somehow electrocute him and caused his internal batteries to stop functioning? Dinara was getting more and more sure that her theory of the boy being a highly advanced android was actually true. Maybe she should try spraying him with water one day. Though in the event that he does electrocute and spoil... Would she then get charged with robot-murder? Was robot-murder even a thing?
Snapping herself out of her thoughts, she watched the boy who seemed to have become even more subdued than before. Once again wrinkling her nose -- at this point it'd become more of a reaction than a habit, she watched the boy, her laughter now rather subdued herself. Perhaps the joke had been too insensitive? Dinara wasn't aware that he was a vegetarian; she hoped that she didn't truly offend the young boy.
As he wriggled out from her grasp, the warmth flooded back to the tips of the girls' fingers. She watched carefully as the boy took his stance in front of the Lake. He seemed more distracted than before, and the rock hopped 4 times limply before it sunk. Thankfully, there wasn't any returning catapults this time.
Walking over to him, Dinara had expectedly herself to be gloating and celebrating; yet somehow she didn't feel any form of accomplishment whatsoever. Hiding her hands in her robes and scuffing the heel of her shoes, she struggled to think of something to say.
"Uh... I mean, I could teach you how to throw the rocks and stuff if you'd like."
Rubbing her nose, she smiled rather awkwardly at the boy, her shoulders lifted in some sort of a half shrug. Attempting to diffuse the awkwardness, she noted the ever-familiar look on the face and quickly retorted in turn.
"Plus, I want to be the only person who can brag that they've beaten Remy Alto in a rock skipping contest!"
The twinkle returned in her eyes as she smiled, her round eyes upturning to form two crescents. Looking towards the nearby castle, she noted that the journey back would be somewhat of a walk, and her attention snapped to the boy's hands which had felt like two blocks of ice. Unraveling her Hufflepuff scarf, she handed it to the boy.
"Here, we should head back for dinner soon. Your hands are like, ice or something; you can use my scarf. Take it as consolation for losing our little contest."
A small smile played on her lips as she said that. She didn't exactly mean what she said fully; she had genuinely offered her scarf out of concern that the boy would just freeze and stop functioning and that she'd be left to lug a frozen statue back to Hogwards. Besides, she also didn't want to come off as too nice to her competitor. What if he thought she was a pushover? That'd be the absolute worst.

Remy had been living about 8 years of his life in a place where girls and boys were often separated, his parents were rather traditional in that sense too. São Paulo wasn't exactly the most progressive place on Earth. He was slightly scared of girls, even if he'd never admit it. Especially these ones that didn't act like he had expected them to. The lioness with the wild hair and roaring laughter scared him. She was the unknown! Growing up with six brothers and a single little sister who was too small to be his playmate, he hadn't really met any girls in this way. Hogwarts was scary, the girls were everywhere, waiting to prey on him and attack at any moment!
He waited for the squid's response to him. Maybe it would throw some slimy water plants at the two of them. Ugh, even the thought of herbology and the odd plants made him almost gag vomit on his own shoes. To his fortune, no one was throwing any plants or pebbles at them. Remy noted that he was often spacing out around her and wondered if she really had the power to shut other people down like that. He didn't like to think, he liked to act. But here he was, wondering about the mystery behind this Hufflepuff before him.
Suddenly the air got heavy and awkward. Well, it was mostly her body language making it awkward. Even a dim-wit like Remy could read that she did not enjoy this situation. He once again raised his brows, why was she not screaming with joy and making fun of him? Maybe throw a little snarky comment in between?
Instead, she offered to teach him how to throw pebbles. He reviewed her precise movement of the wrist and made a mental note to copy that once. Maybe when the squid (he still didn't know if it was the squid, he just presumed so) wasn't out there pissed and catapulting things at them. She wrinkled her nose and smiled. He didn't say anything but imitated her just to make her aware of how often she seemed to do it. Her smile was comforting, even if it would be forced.
"Only one to beat Remy Alto...?" he repeated after her like some child learning new words. Just as he was about to continue, she started unraveling her scarf. He wondered what she was doing. Perhaps all that body heat was getting to her and she felt the need to undress a bit? Lessen the layers of clothing? No, she handed the scarf to him. She didn't get any widened eyes from him or a pleasantly surprised face. Instead, he was just pointing at himself and tilting his head. In his logic, he should probably do the same in return. He started unraveling his silver and emerald green scarf.
He took hers and simply dumped his own on the top of her head like a turban.
"I don't want your pity," he said sternly, feeling the heat and pink color rise to his cheeks. Remy wasn't sure if he was embarrassed, flattered about her concern towards him or just plain cold. The pale boy was always cold. It could have been something else, he wasn't entirely sure how to label that emotion.

The girl watched the boy curiously, her outstretched arm beginning to grow somewhat sore. She wasn't sure what exactly he was doing; the quick-wit that Dinara had grown to be familiar with had seemingly been displaced by something else. Remy seemed... distant, almost. There were periods in which the boy had just seemed to zone out and just live somewhere happily in his own mental bubble.
He wrinkled his nose back at her before accepting the scarf from her outstretched hand, albeit rather reluctantly. Remy had seemed rather confused at what Dinara had said, though that seemed rather silly to the girl -- was there any debate? She had won fair and square, hadn't she!
"Yes, I mean, I did win in the rock skipping contest, didn't I?
The words came through as a matter of fact statement, yet it was not without a hint of pride. She had expected him to continue, but he didn't seem to react much after taking her scarf. Instead, he pointed at himself and tilted his head -- not unlike a lost puppy that didn't know what to make of this world. Dinara could sort of relate, the Wizarding world was indeed a whole new world for her, and she did feel rather overwhelmed and confused at times. The only difference being that this was a completely normal interaction between friends (or even just between two normal human beings) and that even at the tender age of 11, the boy should've been more than able to handle such interactions with ease! Perhaps her theories about him being a robot were right!
Nodding at him, she gestured towards his hand. Remy already had a complexion that was so fair it could prove a worthy rival to the snowy landscapes adorning the mountainscapes, but his hands seemed all the more delicate. Perhaps it was because Dinara had felt for herself how cold his hands had been.
"Yes, the scarf is for you. Well, for your hands; they felt like they were freezing."
The corners of her lips lifted to form a wide grin, though the grin was quickly wiped from her face after the boy had piled his own scarf onto her head. Knitting her eyebrows in confusion, she looked up to him and for the first time, seemed to realize how tall the boy was. He was almost a good 2 heads taller than her, and Dinara marveled at her own bravery when facing him as a competitor. She had supposed that most people would have been intimidated by someone that was physically so much larger than she. The girl hadn't thought to factor in that this was the first time they had been in closer proximity of one another -- the previous few times that they had taken turns to provoke each other were all conducted at a distance. This would've contributed to Dinara's perception that Remy wasn't that much taller than her.
Upon hearing his comment, the young Huffle's eyes widened in surprise, and she started to chew on her bottom lip. Pity? Where did the boy get the idea from? It didn't help that he sounded much sterner than Dinara had heard him speak in their past exchanges. She suddenly felt rather small; it seemed that she had managed to offend the boy twice in a row! Looking up at him from beneath her lashes, she noticed that even his face, which was typically as fair as ivory, was now blotched with patches of pink! He must be really, really cold.
Worried, she took her own mustard yellow scarf that was decorated with black stripes and raised it up to his face, trying her best to reach it. Dinara barely managed to sling the scarf over the boy's shoulder, even while standing on her toes! Trying her best to tuck the scarf about his cheeks, she attempted a few times to have the scarf sit cosily about his face. Whether or not she actually managed to do it properly was a different question, something that Dinara would never know. She then removed the Slytherin scarf from her head, unsure of what to do with it.
"For the record, I'm not doing this out of pity or anything. You just... Well, you just seem cold, and I didn't want you to be cold."
The girl held the scarf in her hands. She didn't want to seem as though she was rejecting the boy's gesture of kindness, but at the same time, Remy obviously needed it much more than Dinara did! Struggling to figure out a logical compromise, eventually, Dinara wordlessly handed half the scarf to the boy, wrapping her small hands snugly in the other half. The lass couldn't think of any other better solution. She supposed that the boy would understand her intentions and that his freezing hands would be more than thankful for her gesture.

Well, perhaps he had come across as more rude and stern. He didn't know what it was, but he liked being cared for by her, even in such small ways as just offering a scarf for his ice-cold hands. He loved to be doted on by others, attention and spotlight were his favorite things in the world. Even someone as socially clumsy as Remy could see that her intentions were nice. He felt a bit conflicted, to hate her or consider her his friend. He still hadn't decided in his mind what he wanted to do with her. He made him want to jump in that lake. No, not to drown, you silly fool! To cool down again. The warmth that she emitted had reached him too, and although it was pleasant, he was confused by it.
She again reminded him of the fact that he lost to her. Suddenly, Remy came acquainted with his jumble of thoughts a bit better. Wait a minute, he didn't even feel that bad about it anymore. Maybe he was just blocking the whole thing from his brain, refusing to believe it. Or maybe, he was pretty happy for her. Shaking those thoughts away from his head, he huffed and puffed something under his breath about having to cheer up. He couldn't waste his life away by standing there like that like he was under some kind of a spell. Apparently, he was such a bad multitasker that he couldn't think while doing anything else at the same time.
"Exactly. Which is why, for my sake and your very own, you should be dancing. Wait, no, wrong. I meant celebrating," he struggled to find the right words while talking to her and accidentally quoted that song that had been stuck in his head recently. Well, there was always some song playing in Remy's mind. He had his very own soundtrack for his life constantly playing. He felt empty if there wasn't some catchy tune going round and round in his head. She pointed out his cold hands, and when he felt them against his warm cheeks, he felt it too. He did not flinch at the cold, but he'd admit it too. His body was growing cold, and he wasn't even dead yet!
"Well, yes. You're not the first one to tell me that. I am as pale as a corpse and cold like one too. However, it's just your own heat that makes it feel so. I feel quite fine actually," he gave her a mischievous smile. He knew how much some people absolutely despised when he put his hands on their necks. They'd shriek and run away, telling him to stay away or he'd get the sneezing hex upon himself. He decided to abstain from bullying her for a few minutes, after all, she had made the nice gesture to try and wrap a warm scarf around him.
He felt a bit stupid, noting their height difference as she struggled to reach him. Remy didn't want to crouch to talk to her, but looking constantly down did come with a price. His neck would always hurt after talking to those little people, Dinara being one of them. Why wouldn't she grow a bit, for his comfort? Remy knew that girls had their growth spurt much earlier than boys did. Maybe she'd get to feel his pain one day too? That was...until he'd catch up again. Playing with her Hufflepuff scarf for a while, he smelled it. It smelled foreign since it wasn't his usual smell over his nose that he was used to. Some people had told Remy that he smelled very sweet. He suspected it was because of his love for sweets. Oh yes, he had quite the sweet tooth.
She seemed to offer him some kind of a truce. Another half of a scarf to wrap his hands around. Remy blinked slowly as if he was rebooting his system. After his little software update, he went back to being is old self. Lightly shoving her with his deadpan face again, he started backing away towards the looming, dark castle that watched over the grounds.
"As if, loser. Come on, we have places to go," he jerked his way towards the castle again before starting to accelerate. Once he turned away from her, a small smile did appear after all.
OOC: Don't worry about that, I love your replies!

For his sake? Dancing? Dinara didn't quite understand this oddball. Why would anyone want to willingly suffer humiliation after they'd just lost? It'd make sense if it was for her own sake, but Dinara was pretty sure she had heard him say that she should be celebrating for his sake as well. Perhaps his pride had been hurt -- if the girl had been in Remy's shoes in a similar situation, she'd have reacted quite similar; though she wasn't empathetic enough at this point in time to realize that.
Dinara rubbed her chin thoughtfully, not quite sure what to make of the situation. She may have won the rock-skipping competition, but the boy had hardly reacted in the way that she had expected him to. Not even a jeer, or a challenge to a new competition of some sorts? The script that had proved useful in helping her navigate through the same old reactions that kids back at home (and many others here at Hogwarts, too) often cycled through seemed utterly useless in this situation.
Rolling her eyes at the boy who had claimed that he 'felt quite fine', she nodded; only half-believing his statement. Her own body temperature was perfectly normal! He's the cold one here! The lass had this tendency to take her own experiences as the norm; she didn't stop to consider that people came from all around the world and had various experiences that shape them up to be very different indeed. She didn't stop to dispute Remy at this point, though; the girl was starting to feel a little cold herself.
Hoping that the boy would just stop being stubborn for once and take the half of the scarf which she had offered him, his rejection of her gesture didn't really leave her feeling disappointed or anything. It was normal behaviour that she had unconsciously come to expect from Remy Alto. Dinara called out after the boy indignantly after having been called a loser (Of all things! Oh, the travesty!) and having been shoved. This was a huge double blow to the girl's ego, and she felt it sting.
"Fine! Last one to the castle is a Grindylow!"
Quickly throwing the emerald scarf across her shoulder, Dinara started to bolt towards the castle that was already half shrouded in shadows. Winter has a way of making the nights longer, no matter what Astronomy taught her, Dinara would be convinced that it was the work of some sleepy wizard who simply wanted more sleep for a few more years to come. Her curls bounced as she ran, the familiar surge of adrenaline propelling her past the boy. A wide smile adorned her face, and she let out merry peals of laughter as she ran -- there was nothing the girl enjoyed more than a good run and a fun game. Unconsciously, her brain had already taken in the scent of Remy's scarf. While her own smelt rather sweet as well, it was sweet in a different, warmer way. More like springtime; one would say, though that is very likely attributed to the shampoo that she used. Remy's scarf smelt more like... Confectionery, if you will, and Dinara suddenly felt like devouring the dessert platter for dinner once again, not unlike her first feast here at Hogwarts.
The girl sprinted back to the castle with all her might, the silver-green scarf trailing out from behind her as her nimble body sliced through the wind. Once she'd reached back, the girl would've completely forgotten that the scarf wasn't her own, and happily head back to her own common room where she'd be teased by her fellow Housemates.
She supposed it was only good courtesy to make sure that the scarf was properly cared for before returning it to the rightful owner.
