25th December for the Augustus family has always been chaotic, especially the morning.
Freya always wakes up to her uncle Sorin yelling at Elio for burning his hand, Aunt Amara telling uncle quillion to wait till everyone is awake to open their gifts and Diana stressing about the gifts she already sent out.
This morning was slightly different because Freya woke wayy earlier than she usually does? Instead of being awoken by the sounds of yelling she woke up to the sound of her pre-set alarm. Freya doesn't like the sound of an alarm clock but she had to break off some important news to her family members and so she needed to be prepared from their reactions, specifically her mother's.
Freya wakes up and rushes straight to the bathroom and picks out what to wear today. She decides to wear a nice blue dress with stockings and a jacket, she takes out her best boots hoping that this will make her mother less frustrated.

Freya rushes downstairs, stands in the middle of the room and yells, "ATTENTION EVERYONE, FAMILY MEETING"
She waits a while for a response but when she doesn't get one she yells again "Oh so your yelling can wake me up but mine can't get you to leave your beds?" she crosses her arms and sees Quillion coming down the stairs "Freya, sweetie go to bed it's to early" he groans a little still half asleep.
"but i have some important news" she said making a cute puppy dog face. Quillion sighs,"fine but if i suffer so will your dad. STEFAN! GET DOWN HERE YOU SLEEPY HEAD" He yells loudly. "wow dad's gonna hate you" Freya laughs a little as she says that and steps a little closer to the staircase when Stefan, Sorin, Diana and all her family members started making their way downstairs.
"what?" Elio said rubbing his eyes.
"well ahh as you know it's Christmas today! And my friend dorie- i mean Kayla invited us all for lunch? So would you like to accompany me to her house?" Freya asks uncertain of what she is saying, she could see Diana getting uncomfortable.
"Kayla Realma?" asked Diana
"yes" Freya nods, Diana sighs.
"i really wish i could meet your friend sweetie but today just won't be possible for me and Sorin?" Amara said."that's totally fine, i understand! What about you mom? Dad? Uncle Quillion? Elio? Vesper? She takes all their names hoping one of them will say yes.
"ah i suppose we could go with you? Uh- i don't mind it" Diana says a little unsure about her words but agreeing to go anyways.
"and if your mom is going I'm going" Stefan says with a smile.
"and ofc i have to annoy your father by tagging along yk"
"Yay!!" Freya squeals excitedly and rushes to her room.

The get to Kayla's house and she opens the door looking adorable as always, Freya laughed a little when she saw her and returned the hug.
"Dorie, trust me. The only person you dragged out here was my mom. Besides we were already staying her cuz of Uncle Sorin's buisness stuff." Freya said with a smile. "Something smells good Dorie!! Were you cooking?

"Ah, tell her I'm sorry when you guys leave," Kayla said apologetically to her best friend, smiling a bit. As Freya asked what she was cooking, Kayla gestured towards the closed kitchen door.
"Eh, I just helped a bit. Liam and Issa were the real cooks," she admitted. Her apron disagreed with that statement however; it was covered in all sorts of spices and spills. She felt something -or someone- brush against her leg and she looked down to see Squeaky, her ferret, who was up unusually early today.
"Hey, girl, why are you up now? Did I forget to feed you?" Kayla asked the ferret, bending down to pick Squeaky up. As she rose, she turned to her best friend.
"This," Kayla said, "Is Squeaky Realma. Proud resident of the Realma household. Or rather, my pet ferret. Have you met her?" Kayla asked Freya, stroking Squeaky's long body. That was when Kayla remembered her best friend didn't like rodents. Not like Kayla was calling her beloved ferret a rodent...but Freya didn't like ferrets, or mice or rats. Unfortunately for the Ravenclaw, the ferret liked her.
As soon as Squeaky layed her beady eyes on Freya, she sprang out of Kayla's arms and landed at Freya's feet.
"Would you look at that," Kayla laughed, "Squeaky likes you!"

Freya reassured Kayla that her (Freya's) mom would get more comfortable around the rest of the family if she sat with everyone for a while and Kayla nodded, hoping this was true and stealing a glance to look at the adults. Her father had arrived and was now talking about who-knows-what with Mr Augustus.
"oh really?"Freya said, "Your apron is coverd in all sorts of spices and I'm sure you're too old to just randomly throw it all on yourself"
Kayla smiled a bit at this remark, yes, Kayla was much too old to throw random spices on herself, but being to old never stopped her from doing most things. Like throwing spices at her siblings, which made them throw them back at her, which started a whole entire Spice War Once.
"You'd be surprised," Kayla told her best friend, dusting at her apron a bit.

As Squeaky joined the conversation, circling Freya and examining the Ravenclaw.
"She's adorable," Kayla said fondly, looking proudly at her ferret. Freya seemed a bit uncomfortable around the ferret, so Kayla scooped Squeaky back up.
"I'm sure she loves you, don't you girl?" Squeaky didn't respond -as always- but Kayla knew her ferret well enough. Kayla was going to give a snappy remark to Freya's question, wanting to say she doesn't hate any animal, but just then, Freya's uncle spotted Squeaky.
"woah, who's ferret is that?" He asked them and Kayla gave him a goofy smile.
"Mine, her names Squeaky," Kayla informed him. He then told them that he himself used to have a ferret and Kayla was impressed.
"It's kinda hard to imagine you having a ferret and then Fairy hates them," Kayla joked, laughing a bit as she set the ferret down to mingle with the guests.

"She's a she." Kayla cut Freya off briefly to correct the pronouns of her ferret be for letting the Ravenclaw continue. Kayla tilted her head at the reason Freya hated ferrets, it was very odd and Kayla wanted to say something, but she thought better of it and let Freya's uncle speak.
"Shall we get some food Dorie? Let's see what magic you created in the kitchen." Freya winked at her best friend and held out her hand. Kayla rolled her eyes sarcastically but took Freya's hand nevertheless and they both went to the table.

Naturally, due to the amount of people in Kayla's family, the dinner table was obviously huge. Not exactly huge, just big enough to support a family of ten people. But, since they had guests, they already decided beforehand that the Littles (Ella, Michael, Michaela, Dylan) would eat in the living room and perhaps Aiden, Freya and Kayla could sit in the living room, too. But Jason had already made it clear he was eating in his room. And Alyassa and Liam had no choice but to sit at the table, as they were the two oldest.

"Living room or table? Your choice," Kayla asked Freya. Awaiting the girls answer, Kayla spoke again, "I'm just gonna get stuff from the kitchen, I'll be quick."

Kayla swiftly moved from Freya to the kitchen and helped her siblings carry some containers and trays. There was a huge chicken pie (which Kayla hoped was enough for everyone), roasted brossel sprouts, salad and roast beef with potatoes. It wasn't much, but it was something that took a while to make. Especially the pie. It took ages to make. Then there were the drinks- a bottle of wine for the adults and Liam and juice or cans of soda for the kids.

When everything was set, Liam clapped his hands together.
"Alright! Everyone, dig in and enjoy!" He said, inviting everyone to take a slice of the pie or maybe the roast beef and potatoes if that was their preference.

"i knew i was wrong about something there" she tilts his head sorta of defeatedly and goes on to ask her something "I'm sorry if you found uncle Quillion creepy by the way he can be a lot to handle sometimes but he's really sweet i promise you"she explains while walking with Kayla.
When given the option to choose between sitting at the table where she could moniter her mom's behaviour or the living room where she could sit with her sister like bestfriend without drama put Freya in a tough situation, if she doesn't moniter her mom that could lead her friendship with Dorie to end. So coming up with her own answer she says "how about we sit at the table? You and i sit together tho!"

Kayla and her older siblings carry out delicious looking food while Freya stood next to her mother with her arm on her shoulder and a smile on Diana's face.
"don't you just love the holidays, everyone is so happy this time of the year" Stefan asks Nicholas tearing up a little waiting for his new friend to reply but before he could Stefan starts talking again saying "im having such an amazing day today like woah you know I'm here with my favourite brother and my wife and my daughter and my new found friend!"
Diana rubs his shoulder a little when Stefan realises he called Quillion his favourite brother and says "uh- I'm going to have to oblivate Quillion after this dinner"

Kayla could sense slight hesitation in Freya as she decided where to sit. But to her slight disappointment, Freya wanted to sit at the table.
Bor-ing.

Kayla knew her household and knew that all the two would hear is the dad's talking about politics or something and the other adults discussing career choices with Alyssa and Liam. That's why Kayla preferred to sit with the Littles, so she could monitor and watch them. She guessed Aiden would have to babysit this time.

Stefan and Nicholas started to tear up about holidays. But Kayla saw Nicholas stiffen up ever so slightly when Stefan said wife, as he always did at any mention of a spouse. Kayla shot a glance at Aiden and they both nodded. Nods were their secret code of communication. So when they both gave each other a look, it only took a litte twin tuition to figure out what the other was thinking. As much as the two were different, Aiden and Kayla were like glue and paper. No, sticky glue and paper. They were just dangerous that way. Kayla loved having a twin brother.

Once everyone had started to eat and dig in, sure enough, Nicholas started the topic: "so, Stefan, what's your opinion on the parliament system?"

Kayla made a point to look back at Aiden, who rolled his eyes then nodded and Kayla followed the suit. Kayla looked back at Freya.
"Fairy, don't freak, but just be prepared. My dad's already started the... the thing. Now just wait for the discussion on the future starts. I'm convinced we're going to get roped in on this one," Kayla muttered to Freya and, to no ones surprise, Alyassa started. She asked Freyas mom what she did for work.

"huh.." Freya whispered slightly when the political conversation started between her Kayla 's father.
She knew that one wrong word and their adorable friendship would be no more.
"yup, we're screwed" she adds looking at Kayla. "What do you think would happen if we get squeaky to bite one of them?" she asked tilting her head to the side and then humming slightly thinking of the possibilities as a mischievous grin forms on her face.

"Well, if we're talking about the wizarding world parliament or ministry then I guess it could use some improvement but if we're talking about London then.. huh.. I don't care much for it" Stefan shrugged as he answered slightly scared that he said the wrong thing and shifts back into his seat slightly as Diana rubs his shoulder fake frowning and nodding. "but uhhh what about you? I want you to know i would definitely respect your political opinions because they don't matter in a friendship" he adds slightly laughing trying to make things less akward.
Quillion nods slightly rolling his eyes at his brother as this was the second time he had seen him so nervous!
But choosing to ignore them he striked up a conversation with people he thinks are more his speed. The kids.
"So! Kayla, her brother and Freya! How about after this we go out for ice cream and leave the weirdos to themselves?" he grinned looking at everyone
"Wait- I'm sure you have more than sibling! We're taking all of them for ice cream" she adds nodding and taking a bite of his food waiting for an answer
