Heading to Class
“Oh, I think in like 5 minutes. I was heading to Care of Magical Creatures and got sidetracked. I like to be early for things, but the lake looked really pretty.” She said, looking over at the lake. The lake sparkled with life, and Sylvie sighed. “I love nature, even more then I like to be early. If I see something pretty in nature, I tend to stop to look at it. It might be the last opportunity to see it.”
She closed her eyes and a cool winter breeze brushed her face, and her hair waved in the wind until it calmed down. She stopped thinking about her worries for a moment, and all hare focus was on the lake and talking to her new friend. It was calm, and it was nice. Sylvie liked calm.
"It might be because of what I just mentioned, but I like to enjoy the things that won't be here forever. I would take a picture but mine always ends up blurry, and I find it better just to enjoy it when it's here. Oh, I'm sorry... I'm rambling again aren't I?" Sylvie starred at her feet. She really needed to get this habit of hers under control. "H-how about you? When does your class start, and which one do you have?"

Phoebe let out a chortle, amused. "It's alright. I don't mind your rambling. It's nice to hear someone talk," she said. Phoebe's eyes wandered over to the lake, noticing the beauty. "I also like nature. I prefer vegetation over animals, though. Yes, I think all wildlife is beautiful, but greenery is more calming in my opinion," she said, changing the position of her legs. They had begun to fall asleep. "I must say that animals are quite beautiful. When I look into their eyes, it's almost as if I can see their soul. It's absolutely breathtaking."
"My next class is History of Magic. I'm sad to say that I'm absolutely terrible at history, so that's one of two of my worst subjects. The other would be the Study of Ancient Runes. I'm getting a headache just thinking about it," Phoebe said, dramatically placing her palm on her forehead. She sighed, really not wanting to go. "I can just tell how disappointed they are. I can't escape the professors' beady little eyes when I'm in the classroom," she said half-serious. She wasn't sure if what she said was true, but she certainly felt like she was letting them down.
"Speaking of which, I should probably go. I have quite a bit of distance to cover. I'll see you around, Sylvie," she said, standing up and getting ready to walk away.

"I prefer animals because they keep you company and are nice to be around, and also they can't hurt me emotionally, well, unless they die... then they can definitely hurt me." She said, remembering all the dogs, cats, and other animals she'd lost over the years and the sadness that came with it. Her sadness was more than her sisters, and Sylvie had a hypothesis why, but never brought it up with Crystal.
Sylvie continued to look at the lake, and it still shined brightly. "Yeah..." Sylvie sighed, getting up and brushing the hair out of her face, so she could see a clear view of the lake before she walked away. "I probably should get going too, I wish I could stay here forever though... but hey, this is the class I've been looking forward to the most," Sylvie said, packing all her stuff into her bag, except for the blanket which she kept wrapped around her shoulders for warmth.
"Hope to see you soon,” Sylvie said, quickly hugging Phoebe, then walking away from the tree, towards her lessons, still shivering even with the blanket. The grounds were silent now, except for Sylvie’s footsteps as she walked away. “I can’t wait for class” she thought, smiling to herself.

Phoebe hugged her back and watched as she walked away from her. Sylvie's form kept getting smaller and smaller as the distance between them grew until she finally vanished. Phoebe took a long exhale, looking back toward the lake.
Phoebe touched a spot on her cheek to see if it could warm her hands, noticing the band-aid she had put on earlier. She had certainly forgotten about it for quite a while, too immersed in the two's conversations. The corners of her lips curled upward. Phoebe had made a friend.
Phoebe looked around her, basking in the cold weather. It was snowing. She held her hand out, catching a few ice particles in her hands. She rubbed her nose and wiped her hands, getting rid of the melted snow. Suddenly, she felt as though she was forgetting something. She reached into her pocket and pulled out an envelope.
Phoebe sighed, walking a little closer to the lake so she stood directly in front of it. She stared directly at her reflection, biting her lip. Taking a deep breath, she tore the envelope in half, dropping the envelope into the lake.
Phoebe watched as the letter from her auntie sunk lower and lower until it was no longer visible. She gulped, tilting her head up to feel the snowflakes fall down onto her face. She looked back down, turning around to make her way to class.
Phoebe glanced back at the lake before she walked away.
