It's a work in progress...
One of the first things his mother told him about Hogwarts was the illustrious and breathtaking grounds that surrounded the hallowed castle. Through his first adventures to the castle Flynn had caught a faint glimpse of its beauty as most had been hidden behind the veil of the night but now that he was free to roam he was finally able to soak in the ethereal beauty of the Hogwarts grounds.
after carelessly frolicking through the vast fields Flynn ends up on a small hill backed by trees that over looks the fields below and the edge of the great lake as the late afternoon sun skipped across the water right into Flynns eyes sending a cautious warning not to stare to long.
"where else would I rather be" Flynn rejoiced as he stretched out against the lumber oak tree knowing his words would reach no ears but his own. While most would prefer to people watch narrating lives of people they've never met or gossiping about people they do know Flynn's attention was grabbed solely to the faint rustling being produced by the branches above him. Entranced by the idea of seeing a wild magical creature for the first time Flynn gradually turned his body listening for any noise however the silence slowly started to worry him as he felt he was being stalked by a entity more powerful than himself.
Oh the relief when he spotted a Jobberknoll perched perfectly on the branches above flaunting its looks to Flynn as he stared on jaw agape. None of the seemingly whimsical tales his mother had told him could fully encapsulate the beauty of the seemingly ordinary bird above him. As it continued its mundane task of survival slowly hopping from branch to branch pecking at unsuspecting insects that hid between the tree bark, Flynn sat in silent admiration for the bird before deciding in the spur of the moment to document his first findings in his note pad.
As he pulls out his pad and pencil from his bag that sat lazily by his side he looked down at the fresh unused pages calling out for him to unleash his creative thoughts onto them. His freshly sharpened pencils gliding effortlessly across the paper as he refers back to the Jobberknoll making sure to not miss any details. Extending the tail and head feathers as they flailed around the birds head, detailing the ombre blue and purple back that slid perfectly into its tail. Highlighting its beady black eyes that seemed to stare into nothingness as it was surrounded by a glowing tint of white contrasting it against the royal blue feathers around it.
After capturing all the nuances of the Jobberknoll Flynn felt satisfied to look at his drawing as a whole and as he lifted the page up to meet his view he was greeted by a. oh. um. well it wasn't quite what he had envisioned it to be.
"wow ummm" Flynn muttered to himself, defeated. As he holds the page up to view the bird and the drawing side by side he quickly realises why his parents would steer him away from arts as a child. Contrasting the natural beauty of the Jobberknoll was Flynns humble attempt at a drawing that seemed to more closely resemble a hieroglyphic etched on the walls of a Neanderthals cave. He notes that he had slightly exaggerated the length of the tail feathers which consequently made the bird seem like the size of a pea. The once piercing beady eyes now replaced by wonky careless eyes that made Flynn chuckle at their placement.
"well they can't all be Picassos can they" Flynn laughs to himself. Though his start in the world of arts wasn't exactly ideal Flynn figured the only way to improve was to do more art. As he saves his first masterpiece in his bag he packs up his tools and bids farewell to his model who in response pulled a worm out of the tree and flew away. He probably deserved that after the drawing he just did. As the sun starts to set beyond the great lake Flynn takes his leave and makes his way back to the castle for some much needed rest.
