The grand ballroom was beautiful, and Vales was reminded of that fact every time she walked in. Vales had made her visits to the ballroom a daily occurance, and it never got old. It became an escape from the stresses of everyday Hogwarts life, and she welcomed it. Oh, and aso she needed to keep up her dance skills, and the ballroom was quite perfect for that. Vales calmly took off her robe, dressed in a loose tank top and yoga pants underneath. She loved to dance, and made time everyday to do so. It became almost like a second nature for Vales, leaping became just as normal to her as walking.
Music floated all around her, and Vales began to dance, twisting her body in ways that took her years to learn. The first time she had come here, Vales had been seriously terrified of people walking in, watching her, but since that was exactly what happened, Vales didn't quite care anymore.
She was aware that she was good at dance, and it was about the only thing Vales was truly confident while doing. So, she ignored the rest of the world, and just danced. And it felt great.

Ruby was a pretty girl of average height with nice blue eyes, a skin tone that was a variation of white, and brown hair currently in two plaits. Without realizing it, she carried herself with an air that spoke of sharp intelligence, quiet confidence, sophistication, and something strong, like passion, ambition, power, or a combination of the three. She was straight-backed and moved with a soft grace and elegance that made her seem like anything but a typical 11 year old girl. She was highly analytical, calculating, and observant, with a good enough memory to remember most of the things she noticed.
She walked into the ballroom and instantly started observing and analyzing. She had been in here once or twice before while learning her way around and creating mental maps, but she had never really taken time to appreciate the large room. Today, she was in here because she needed a break and didn't feel like going to one of her normal places. The only person in here was another girl – a fellow first year, she reckoned, and a Ravenclaw, judging by the crest and partial color of the discarded robe.
After analyzing the girl, Ruby leaned on the wall near the doorway, with her arms crossed and one foot pressed against the wall. She wore a slight smirk that showed itself at the corner of her mouth, but aside from that, her face was devoid of emotion. Ruby was waiting for the Ravenclaw to finish her dance, and so she ended up watching her carefully. Every movement attracted the Slytherin's attention and she saw the confidence in the way the girl danced. That was the mark of someone passionate, someone who didn't care if others saw or judged. In part, Ruby was interested in that. She wouldn't mind learning more about this girl – but that was no different from any other time with any other unfamiliar person.
As Ruby watched and the dance went on, she began to realize how much she missed dancing and how much she wanted to do it again. Dancing was a great passion, she thought. She made a mental note to look into taking dancing classes over the Christmas break. That brought her thoughts to some family-related things she didn't want to think about, however, so she focused on the dancing Ravenclaw girl in front of her and tried to blank her mind.

The music continued to swirl in the air, and Vales had continued dancing. As the final notes of the song swirled strong in the air, Vales hit a final pose, her leg extended in the air above her head as her other foot stood on her toes. It hurt, but Vales had done this particular pose enough time that it was more dull than sharp, and Vales could hold it for at least a few seconds.
She dropped her foot down gracefully, a smile gracing her face. That felt great. A few strands of black hair fell from her ponytail that they were contained in while she was was dancing, so she reached her hand up, and pushed them back in. Hair that was loose was one of Vales's many pet peeves, so she was very careful to keep her own hair in control.
Finally turning around, Vales noticed another girl, around her age, watching her. Vales was sure she had seen the girl around Hogwarts before, but she couldn't remember her name. Usually, Vales would've frozen up, stuttering for a while before running away, but after dancing, Vales always felt unusually confident.
"Hello!" she said, giving the girl a small smile. Vales walked over to her robe, taking a bottle of water out of one of the pockets, and taking a drink. When she was finished, Vales set the water bottle down, and addressed the girl again.
"Oh, sorry if I'm bothering you! I can use half the ballroom if you want space to practice!" Vales said, not wanting to be a bother to the other girl.

Ruby respected confidence in others. Confidence without arrogance was nice, refreshing, and even somewhat attractive. Many of the girls she had come across were skittish and nervous and gentle, and Ruby had always felt like she was trying to tiptoe around them. It was exhausting, having to be so careful with her words and not let any part of her personality that could harm them show through. It was hard to be friends with those people – for Ruby, anyway. Okay, maybe one was occasionally fine and Ruby could coax them out of their shell, but it was still so tiring. She didn't particularly enjoy it – at all, really. However, this… this was decent. Pretty nice, in fact. Ruby watched the girl for a moment more and saw how natural the girl seemed to be in this environment, how comfortable she seemed to feel.
“Hi,” Ruby replied in response to the Ravenclaw's greeting. She paused for a moment to let the girl continue to speak, and then got ready to respond to that. She spoke clearly and fairly slowly so as not to be overwhelming in any way, or appear to be rushed. The last thing Ruby wanted was to be interpreted as stuttering, over-the-top, rushed, or anything like that, really. “You're not bothering me at all. I should be the one apologizing to you, if anything. I don't need space to practice either. I've… kind of forgotten how to dance, anyway. I haven't done it, or even tried, in a long time. You're good at it, by the way. What's your name?”

Vales listened carefully to the other girl, nodding along at some points to show she was paying attention. Vales quite liked this girl, even after only a sentence of talking. She was like that, judging quickly, but carefully. For example, Vales noticed how the girl talked, careful and composed. Her grandmother talked like that, and although her grandmother was a master manipulator, Vales didn't get the same vibe from this girl. Instead, the girl seemed in control of herself, and that made the usually anxious Vales relax. Well, that, and the fact that she was standing in her favorite room in Hogwarts.
She continued listening to the other girl until she finished, then calmly started speaking,
¨My name´s Vales! What about you?¨. She stopped speaking for a moment, tucking another stray piece of hair behind her ear again, then resumed.
¨¨Oh, that´s too bad. Although, if you were interested, I could teach you the basics!¨ Vales mentioned calmly, giving the other girl a kind smile.
Vales had been told many times that she was a good teacher, but it would be her first time teaching dance, as she had never been in a situation before this when she had to.

Ruby continued to watch the girl as she spoke and acted. It seemed like the Ravenclaw was making some notes of her own. Well, that could be interesting… Nevertheless, Ruby was definitely starting to like this dancer that she had walked in on, even if they had barely started interacting.
Briefly, she glanced around the room again, absorbing every detail she could about it, noticing the architecture and the materials that had been used to make this place. Her eyes then wandered back to her fellow student, and she wondered how much the girl practiced to be able to get to this stage. She didn't doubt that the girl had probably been dancing for years, and danced frequently.
When the girl started speaking, Ruby listened until it was her turn. “I'm Ruby Cazares, it's a pleasure to meet you, Vales.” Vales… so that's what her name was. It was pretty, and decently unusual. Ruby wasn't sure if she had heard the name many times before. Still, she had more to respond to… After a moment of consideration, she realized that she would like to be taught how to dance. “Yes, I'd actually like it very much if you did. Of course, only if you wouldn't mind…”

Hi! Sorry that this was so late – I've been very busy and hope you can understand/forgive me. I also apologize for my reply not being very long, and for it being a bit uninteresting… I kind of ran out of inspiration
