A painful predicament
Rowan indulged just a bit.
A soft chuckle escaped him, and he nodded in agreement, even when it shot pain up his neck and down his spine.
"I imagine I did. Thank you for your concern. I do feel a bit better, to answer your question."
He switched hands, tapping the beat softly against the girl's wrist, sinking into the tune until the next question arose.
Something stuck out about her voice though. Not just the huskiness, no, something more. It caught his attention. Opening his eyes, he looked her over quickly. There was indeed something. She just wouldn't say it.
"I believe you mean to ask a different question, friend. Your eyes are searching, and your voice questioning. Like you are holding yourself back for some reason, but still wish for the answer to a question I do not know."
His speech patterns were odd, that was for sure, so that he sounded older. Much older. It was the voice of the kind of child that had been forced to give up their childhood. The french accent began coming out in his voice now that he was a bit louder, and she was closer. Maybe a cultural thing then?

A painful predicament
Lily abruptly Let go of the boys hand and stood. She didn’t believe this boy was capable of seeing so much within literally no time at all. Lily nolonger felt comfortable being near this boy, of fear that he could see to much of her. Lily had never had anyone see threw so much, ever since she was no younger than five she had been changing her persona to the liking of others, and threwout the years she used this to hide from people like this boy. Smiling and takeing a deep breath she spoke once more.
“I believe you would be wrong, It was only a guestion of curiosity.” Lily tryed her best to sound confident but her voice sounded like glass on the verge of shattering. Bowing to the boy she turned on her heals and headed to the door, it took every power in her not to sprint out of this terrible room. Lily didn’t wait for to boy to respond, to be honest she didn’t really want to hear what he had to say to her abrupt mood swing. She didn’t want to hear anything other than her magnificent music box. Grasping the huge Hospital Wing doors she pushed it opened... and stopped. Turning around she looked back to the boy laying down on the cot. Was it ok for her to leave like this, would he remember this moment of her kindness or her moment of abruptly leaving him to his own thoughts. Eather way Lily furrowed her brow and left, closing the door behind her.

A painful predicament
It wasn't unexpected, but it still hurt when she left so suddenly- When she pulled back from him like his skin was made of flame.
But he kept it hidden, under all those layer of calm, that he had trained for years under his parents.
Right. He was wrong. Or so she said. She didn't mean anything else. He just made her uncomfortable. He could tell she was lying with how suddenly she had seemed to flee, though.
And he let her run, closing his eyes and leaning back, closing his hand into a fist. This is why he rarely was open with people. He paid far too much attention, and freaked people out with his perceptive nature. Two friends. That's all he had.
"Goodbye miss."
He said softly, before he sank back into the lull of the waves, drowning the rest of the world out, left just with his thoughts.
What was he left with?
His mother had left long ago, as well as his uncle. The two closest people to him. His father was a judgmental fool. His friends would only stay for so long before they got bored with him. After that...
Who knew.
A spike of pain cut through the haze. The nurse had set a plate of food next to him, gently nudging his shoulder.

A painful predicament
Miko threw open the doors in a sort of furious manner, but in fact he was just worried as hell. He walked past the many nurses telling him to go wait and that Rowan currently wasn't taking visits but little did he care. All he wanted to do was get to the other boy that he had been talking to for a bit, hopefully he wasn't too hurt. The Hufflepuff soon made his way over to Bane and knelt beside him, his eyes worried and smile small. The other seemed in pain, clearly he was, but it hurt to see him like this. Hurt and helpless it seemed.
Looking at his eyes, searching for an answer to his wounds, but all he could find was pain. Pain everywhere, even though he wasn't showing it, it was noticeable for Miko. So many questions were flooding his brain, yet only one came to the very front. It was stupid but necessary to ask a wounded man unless you wanted to let them suffer with no clue about what ever happened to them.
With the words finally hitting his vocal cords he whispered his question, "What ever happened to you, mo ghaol?". A hint of urgency hit his voice with the heavy breathing that came with it. He was out of breath from bursting into the hospital wing. Miko could've done anything with his free time at the moment, but he chose to come and comfort his boy, his frail, cuddly, hurt little boy. No regrets were made with his time at all, if he had to stay over night he would even if it meant probably being really tired in the morning, it would get done.

A painful predicament
It was too early for this.
Nurses were yelling, and suddenly someone was in his face.
Five broken ribs, spine broken in two places, scratches all the way up his back, neck, and shoulders and then... yelling.
Just the way he wanted to start... whatever time of day it was.
He squinted his eyes, hissing as the bed was squished by the other persons weight, and in turn, moving him.
“Je jure tout ce qui est saint et satanique- Get off.”
Was all he could get to, before he let out a hiss of pain, fire worming it’s way up his already damaged spine.
Assuming the person heeded his words, he took a moment to recover, nails digging into the sheets as he waited for the pain to subside.
The nurses were still yelling.
It took everything in him to not yell at them in return.
He slowly opened his eyes again, letting out the breath he had been holding as he focused on the person infront of him.
Miko.
It was Miko.
Alright. That he could forgive. He could forgive the eccentric entrance. Forgive the pain. The smallest of smiles appeared on his lips as he looked at him.
He had been slowly getting better. Less and less pain by the hour. No matter how slow it had been going down. Half of his back was almost healed, though there would still be wicked scars.
“Bonjour mon amour.. I see you are showing me up again. And I was expecting to be the dramatic one in the relationship.”
Pain laced his words, even if it was being suppressed. Making jokes to distract Miko from the problem at hand. To make Miko less worried.
“Talk to the nurse if you want the full list of injuries, I do not have the energy to explain. I apologise for yelling at you.”
One of the nurses stepped forward, clearly still peeved at you.
“Five broken ribs, spine broken two places, scratches all the way up his back, neck and shoulders, 26 different impact points to be precise. Happy?”
Rowan held up a hand in her direction, sighing softly.
“I apologise for my boyfriend’s behaviour, Ms. Annabell, but you have to give him a pass, he is clearly worried. He’ll be quiet and will respect the visiting hours in the future.”
Rowan placed his hand down again to flick Miko’s forehead as the nurse walked away.

A painful predicament
Miko got off the bed and knelt down beside his pillow. He felt kind of bad from shoving the nurses out the way but it was their fault for being in his way! They could've moved out the way rather than stopping the child, which was clearly a made mistake. But they didn't matter. Rowan mattered, not the completely healthy nurses that got in the way.
The Gryffindor had said he thought he was going to be the dramatic one in the relationship, as if. "Yeah, as if Rowan. I do apologize for the loud intrusion I was just worried out of my mind when I got the owl." The boy replied, staying in a quiet voice. After the worry came anger, loads of it too. Whoever did this to the other would pay, here came the hotheadedness of Miko. "Who did this to you?" The young Hufflepuff growled the words in a threatening manner, he was agitated.
They better sleep with one eye open.
The sheer rage coming from his head would at least give three broken bones.
Who needed their wand when they have physical strength, right?
Now who would need to be in the hospital wing?!
A nurse came to the bed they were at and told Miko the injuries. Five broken ribs?! A burn! The poor child! He was about to reply when a flick came to his forehead. "I'm sorry! And me, worried? Pffffttttt as if." He tried to play it off cool as not to seem clingy or something but he was never a good liar unless he was devoted to the lie. The Hufflepuff felt kind of bad for his rude behavior and smiled sheepishly towards the nurse and Rowan. Normally he was a gentlemen but now that completely changed, especially whenever he finds out who did this. They would feel the fire of a thousand suns, the bite of a badger and the roar of the lion.

A painful predicament
“Guess I’ll just have to fight you for that title then.”
In all honesty, Rowan looked to be death incarnated. Pale skin and hair, sharp, malnourished face, shadows under his eyes, the even paler eyes to match, the fact that he just overall looked malnourished as well- the bruises that contrasted heavily- it was not a good picture overall. And without his flower crown, there was no splash of color to offset the look. Usually the pale skin leaned towards a fair, fae like complexion with the flower crown and his ever so slightly pointed ears. But now it was almost vampiric without it. Although at least he was healing.
“You think you are the first one to ask that question, mon amour? I assure you, It is not anyone’s fault but mine. But se la ví. It was not an attack, but instead my own clumsy nature. They tell me it was a fall, though I still think I may have been pushed, who knows. Owlrey tower. Most of it was from the stairs. I had an unsightly nose earlier, but that was fixed easily.”
Rowan honestly didn’t mind him being clingy. It was almost adorable, had it not been for the fact that he did not want Miko to worry over him whatsoever. Clingy and worried were two different things.
He didn’t want to be coddled and treated like he was going to die any moment. That was overly worried.
However he didn’t mind someone wanting to be around him often because he was well... him. That was clingy. He could handle that.
Rowan reached out to run a hand through Miko’s hair (Fluffy!), closing his eyes briefly. Gods above and below, the lights were not kind to his head. Far too bright. He almost just wanted to go back to sleep. For the third- no- fifth? He had lost count of how many little naps he had taken so far. He was just exhausted, but couldn’t make his body fall asleep.

A painful predicament
With as gentle as he could be, he patted Rowan's shin with so much care he could barely feel it himself. Miko gave the other a reassuring smile and stood up. The boy walked over to a group of nurses muttering to themselves and nodded his head several times before coming back. "Well they said with enough time here you should be alright and as you said, they're working on the case still." He informed Rowan, well more repeating his words really, but all the same. From behind his back, he pulled out a small rose and put it on the bedside. "I hand plucked the thorns...that was a bad idea." Miko showed his hand with several bandages on it.
The Hufflepuff looked him up and down, slowly as if checking for anything else he needed to do. Rowan looked at the point of over exhaustion with the dark shadows under his eyes...or that could be his black eyes, who knows? Either way he definitely was tired and Miko was not far from him as well, staying up all night studying and doing homework from the day before it was a lot. The previous day he had gotten extra homework because a new student showed and needed help with his homework, so more got piled on top.
"I will visit tomorrow." The boy told the injured one, walking to the door.
He turned around giving a small wave before closing the doors behind him.

A painful predicament
Rowan giggled softly as he saw the rose. It was adorable, though Miko had injured himself. And speaking of injuries- Laughing was not a good idea. It hurt. A lot.
“Have you heard of scissors mon amour? They are very useful. As well as gloves.”
He held the flower with gentle hands, smiling softly.
As Miko turned to leave, loneliness seemed to stab him in the gut. He was already leaving? What had it been- ten minutes? Not even that...
Though he did have other things to do. He didn’t want him to just sit here and look after him. Or he didn’t want to be distracting from whatever else Miko had in his life. He couldn’t be expected to just sit here.
Still. It hurt, watching him walk away.
Rowan smiled and waved back, not a hint of sadness lingering in his eyes.
He waved a nurse over, whispering something to her as Miko closed the doors. If he was going to be here for awhile, he was going to have a project.
Soon after he made his request, he slept. For a long time at that.
The next day, the flowers arrived, and he set to work, weaving and cutting, humming softly as he worked. The first time in years. And finally, just as visiting hours were about to open, he finished.
Another band of flowers sat beside him on the table as he fell asleep. And interestingly enough- it was almost the perfect size for Miko’s head. Funny.
Although the worst was still yet to come.
The nurses stopped Miko at the door the next time he tried to come in, speaking in hushed tones.
Rowan had already been informed of the possibility of this happening as soon as he came in but he didn’t really imagine it happening...
“Miko is it? Could I have a word with you?”
She said. She lead him over to the front desk where Rowan couldn’t see them.
“We haven’t told Mr. Bane yet, but we just want you to be aware of this, so you can prepare for his reaction....
You see, Rowan’s spinal injury isn’t... healing properly. Well- I hate to put this bluntly- but we don’t expect it to fix. He’ll be paralysed below the waist from now on we believe... many of his nerves were severed from the fall. Humans don’t heal well from spinal injuries. No creature does really. It’s not fatal in any way- but like I said... He won’t be walking, we’re pretty sure. Though anything is possible...? We’ll keep trying.”

A painful predicament
It was early in the morning, breakfast time to be exact. Miko had asked to be excused from the table with a box in hand, also with a croissant shoved in his mouth. The box was green with a red ribbon on top, about a necklace size. The Hufflepuff walks in and is immediately led to the front desk. He was wearing a cute little Hufflepuff Christmas sweater as he walked in, on top his hair was a Santa hat.

The boy was pulled over by the nurses. Maybe it was finally some good news, maybe his spine had finally healed! Nope. The complete opposite in fact. At first, Miko was sad and mournful but he perked up shortly after having a small pity party. Rowan could get a wheelchair! It wouldn't change anything! They could adapt, humans do it all the time how hard could it be? Brushing the sad news aside, he nodded and walked to Rowan's bedside.
Miko placed the box on the bedside and smiled brightly. "Happy Christmas, Rowan!" The Hufflepuff greeted him and jumped around, cheering. Christmas was always his favorite holiday, it was a time for family and friends! This year he wouldn't be spending the holiday's with his family though, they were visiting a family member in America. No, this year, he was spending it with his beloved boy, Rowan. He was excited for what he got for Rowan. It was a golden necklace with a picture of Miko in it, matching the one he was wearing except with a picture of Rowan in it. The picture of the Hufflepuff was him with a small snitch flying around and as for the Gryffindor's picture, it was him laughing in the hospital bed.
