Unkempt Feelings
Today was rare. It was half an hour after her last class of the day, and Nara was not in the common room taking a nap. In fact, she wasn't even near the common room; she was in the library, stalking the shelves and looking for a book.
The book she was looking for had something to do with Charms- not that Nara was having trouble with the class or anything- but she was looking for a written copy of one of the spells she had learned. "Finite Incantatem", was it? She was supposed to write down the name of the spell as well as the pronunciation, and though she knew how to pronounce it, writing it out was coming out more difficult said than done.
Her lips pursued together as she looked through yet another book that had the word 'charms' in the name, and yet another book that was devoid of the one thing she actually needed. Pronunciation! Why is there so much emphasis on the damn thing if nobody ever bothered writing about it? Obviously, she could just cut her losses and move on, probably losing a few points in the meanwhile, but a few points could be the total difference between an Outstanding and an Exceeds Expectations! Well... not that Nara ever needed the few extra points but...
Annoyed, she shoved the book back in its place in the shelf and decided to just move on. Taking a look through her bag, maybe it was time she just sits down and get a head start on her homework. There were a few tables she could sit at to get her work done, so it was optimal to collapse into the closest chair and rush through everything so she could take a well-deserved nap.
That she did- dropping her bad onto the floor and tossing some parchment and a few quills onto the table. She didn't mind the girl sitting across from her, since that girl was unrecognizable, but she was pretty. Curly dark hair and shining green eyes, ah, young love.
"Yo." Nara greeted, her voice quiet but not at whisper level. "You uh- you look familiar. Do I know you from somewhere?" Lie. The girl was not familiar- not even remotely close; conversation starters were not Nara's strong suit though, and a thinly veiled lie wouldn't hurt anyone in this context.

Unkempt Feelings
Mahlioz wasn't feeling too great. She'd just had Flying, the class she hated the most. She just couldn't understand the interest in sitting on an uncomfortable stick hundreds of meters in the air that could accidentally (or purposefully) drop you to your death at any moment. Her awful fear of heights had something to do with it too. But seriously, why couldn't wizards use something else? Bikes, scooters, heck, even cars (which were also slightly scary) would work!

Thoughts
But, thankfully, that class was over now. The fact of the matter was that Mahlioz wasn't feeling great, and whenever that happened - and even when it didn't - she went to the library. It cheered her up. Even if she wasn't reading, there was the smell of old books, the sound of turning papers, the whispers in the corners; everything added to that vibe that she just loved.
Though usually she would have headed straight to the fantasy or sci-fi sections, she decided that she'd do some reading on Quidditch and brooms. She'd learned last year that reading about it did not do a thing when it came to actually flying, but it was interesting, and she prided herself on knowing her theory. So she grabbed a book in the Quidditch section that looked vaguely interesting and sat down at one of the tables.
A few minutes later, the Slytherin was pulled out of her reading when someone pulled out a chair across from her, plopping their stuff on the ground and a few things on the table. Mahlioz glanced up for a second - it was a supposed second year girl with really pretty curly brown hair - before getting back to her book.
Not for long, though. After a moment, the girl said "yo," which was a greeting Mahlioz had not yet heard before. It was rather peculiar. She looked up as the girl said she looked familiar and asked if she knew her from somewhere.
"Er... I don't know? Maybe we have a class together?" The Slytherin felt a little bad, because she did not recognize her at all. Maybe she just hadn't been paying attention to those around her (which wouldn't have been very surprising), but still - it was a little embarrassing to be recognized and not know who it was.
"Um... I'm Mahlioz? Mahlioz Evethisawe?" Maybe her name might jog the memory of where the girl knew her from? The Slytherin looked down at the scrolls of parchment on the other side of the table. "What are you studying?" she asked, too curious to keep her question for a better time.
