@Renelle DaltonIt was a beautiful September evening when a little girl could be seen walking to the courtyard with painting supplies in her hand. It had been an exhausting day, and the only thing Michelle seeked right now was silence. The common room was filled with people, talking and discussing about how their day went, but did she have friends? no. Her only friend here at Hogwarts was her canvas and paint set.
The courtyard was silent, with only 3-4 students who seeked peace. So she sat down, and drew what she saw: the fountain and the plants. Her thoughts drifted away from the world outside as she started to apply the first strokes. The paint flowed from her brush onto the canvas, creating lines and shapes that expressed the thoughts swirling in her mind. The courtyard was a place where she would always be able to analyze her thoughts and make decisions. It was turning into a hideout comfort place for her. She would come here to nap, to paint, and to miss. Miss her family. It was her first time being away from her family for so long, especially her brother. She wondered how they would be doing without her. How was she going to spend a year with no friends or family? Or, maybe she was happy being alone.
As she continued to paint, she lost track of time. It's as if the world around her faded away, and she was completely immersed in her painting. All of her attention was on the painting, and she was trying hard not to let out her frustration. As the painting started taking shape, she felt a sense of accomplishment and pride. Painting was where her comfort lied.
That was when something else caught her attention.

Friends?... Oh wait
It was evident that the school day was coming from an end, whether it be from the stuffed crowdedness of the common room of students relaxing or catching up frantically on homework, the peaceful silence of the corridors (which was impossible to come by during the day), or just the sun that was quietly setting, casting a shadow over half of the castle, leaving the rest softly illuminated with a sort of golden light.
Renelle Dalton was one of the few stragglers still outside of the comfort of their own common rooms; though for her, it wasn’t that comfortable. There were far too many people, and she didn’t want to go back to her dorm yet, which would just remind her of all the decorations she had yet to put up, not to mention the huge mess of clothes, school supplies and other random objects strewn about the place.
So, she was walking. There were only three or four other people there, which was really the best she could have hoped for in such a crowded boarding school. It was funny- most people seemed to assume that Renelle disliked going outdoors just because she wasn’t the most sociable person, believing that she was far more prone to ‘curling up with a good book indoors’.
Really, social stereotypes were laughable sometimes.
The Ravenclaw found herself heading further and further into the courtyard, passing the few stragglers she met without any inkling of notice. The cool night air had always been one of her favourite things, in terms of nature anyway. In fact, she was so engrossed in all of this that she walked right into something - or perhaps someone.
“Ow!” she stumbled back, almost tripping over some stray rocks. Suddenly, the beautiful evening didn’t seem so beautiful anymore. At least she would know to always watch her surroundings from this.Interacting with @Michelle Brown

A sudden jolt sent her brush careening across the canvas, smudging a delicate blend of blues and purples into the canvas, that she was using for the courtyard walls. The girl gasped, her heart racing as she stared at the unintended intrusion on her work of art.
All of her work and efforts, all wasted. Why? Because someone didn't know how to walk?
She turned around, trying to keep a straight face. But how was she supposed to act like nothing happened, when someone interrupted her me time, and also ruined her painting? Walking isn't a very hard task.
Turning to face the person who had disrupted one of the few good moments in her life, she found herself confronted by a stranger. A stranger who doesn't know how to walk.
“Ow!” the person stumbled back, almost tripping over some rocks.
Michelle had seen this girl at the Ravenclaw table before. Once. That was the day she had thought that Ravenclaws were the smartest house. Apparently not. This was the first Ravenclaw she had met so far, and this was a very bad impression for the Ravenclaws.
She quickly got up and helped the girl gain her balance back. Michelle could sense the girl's frustration, and Michelle was sure she looked the same: annoyed and frustrated. She did try her best to mask her true feelings.
Upon having a closer look, Michelle observed that the first year old girl was pretty: quite literally. She had dark eyes and beautiful dark hair. She also noticed that the girl was a taller than her.
"You didn't get hurt, did you?" She figured that maybe talking would be the best thing to do right now, the situation was awkward, it would've been weird if one of them just walked away or whatever.
Yes, Michelle did despise the girl for bumping into her, but if the girl couldn't even see a whole human sitting in front of her, then she must've been very lost in her thoughts. Maybe thinking about something important? Classes? Homework? friends? Family? Lover? Whatever it was, Michelle wasn't interested in knowing. She never even intended to get to know anyone here. Especially not like this. This was a very awkward way to meet someone.
"You should pay attention to what's going on around you"
She said that after a pause, and regretted doing that the moment she did. That just sounded like she was trying to mock the Ravenclaw. This wasn't her attention. She made it sound too harsh. Michelle quickly tried to cover up her harsh tone "What's your name, anyway?" Great. Now that was too many questions at a time.
She was hoping that the girl didn't think she was weird nowcolor #6b4d84 is Michelle Talking

Renelle had never thought of herself as a particularly clumsy person- sure, she wasn’t some kind of graceful ballerina, but she normally did not have to worry about stumbling over and knocking into stuff. That only made her more frustrated at herself right now; it wasn’t enough that this rare incident had happened with someone watching so closely, but apparently she had literally walked into that person.
Quickly, she attempted to catch her balance once again. Ugh. Great. Now the person probably thought of her as an idiot who couldn’t master the art of walking. Glancing up for the first time, Renelle realised that the girl she had bumped into was trying to help her right herself. For some reason, that only irked her off more. Like, sorry, but she didn’t need any help not falling over.
Taking a deep breath, she peered closer at the scene in front her. The girl who had been the victim of Renelle’s incoordination appeared to a Hufflepuff from her yellow robes, and she was Asian, with highlights in her dark hair. From her height, the Ravenclaw deduced that she might have been around the same age as herself.
“Do I look like I got hurt?” Woah. Renelle had no idea where that came from. Ordinarily, she was a very calm and collected sort of person, not getting roused easily. But perhaps it was the irritating knowledge that this girl had witnessed her during one of her more vulnerable moments, that annoyed her.
If anything, what came out of the girl’s mouth next only increased her sense of irritation. “Thank you so much!” Renelle’s voice rose higher and higher as she spoke, fists clenching at her sides. “I would never have known that if you hadn’t enlightened me with your great wisdom, oh intelligent one.” Suddenly, she noticed that there was a canvas next to the girl, a sharp line across the page that was very out of place on the picture. Almost as if someone had… Oh.
Really, knowing that she had been the one to ruin this girl’s painting made her feel even worse, though right now, that embarrassment was so mixed with fury that it didn’t even make Renelle slow down. “Hufflepuffs were supposed to be nice. What went wrong with you?” Then, the dark-haired girl turned, marching away angrily. A tad dramatic in hindsight.
Or at least she tired to. Maybe the fates were just not on Renelle’s side today, because she had barely gone a few steps before her foot caught on a stray branch, causing her to tumble to the ground once more. “Oh, come on!”Interacting with @Michelle Brown

@Renelle DaltonMichelle did think that the girl might be a little offended from her tone of talking, but did she think that the Ravenclaw could be so rude, when she was quite literally the one that caused this? Certainly not.
“Do I look like I got hurt?” was certainly not an appropriate way to answer someone who just wanted to check if she was alright.
"Thank you so much!” The girl practically shouted. “I would never have known that if you hadn’t enlightened me with your great wisdom, oh intelligent one.” Michelle noticed the girl's fists clenching, and she shouldn't have, because that just made her want to slap her right in the face.
On what basis was the Ravenclaw even shouting at her, she couldn't understand. All that she had done was paint, she wasn't the one who just didn't care to pay attention and destroyed someone's perfectly good painting.
Who was she? Someone who doesn't know how to walk and how to control anger? Michelle here was much nicer. She could've also just shouted and started a fight and got her destroyed painting's justice, but she didn't. Why? Because she didn't lack common sense and wanted to stay away from drama. Here she was, stuck in a situation that was completely opposite to what she had wished for.
The Hufflepuff tried not to lose her calm. She had always been the contained type. She couldn't just shout and create a scene like that Ravenclaw girl was doing. Especially not now that she had noticed the three or four other students sitting in the courtyard looking at them.
She noticed as the Ravenclaw's eyes drifted somewhere else. Michelle followed the girl's eyes, which landed on her painting. Then she saw it again: the big purple line that didn't fit in the beautiful scenery she had spent so much effort in painting.
What Michelle expected now was for that girl to see what she had done and bring a change of attitude into their conversation. But clearly Michelle should've known her fate wasn't siding with her today. “Hufflepuffs were supposed to be nice. What went wrong with you?” This was it. the last straw. Who did she think she was? How did she even think that saying something like this would be okay?
Michelle didn't want to be in Hufflepuff and it took quite a lot of people to tell her that she belonged there. Some stranger just saying that she didn't belong here was too much.
Michelle hadn't been nice to her?
just as Michelle was about to say something, the girl started to walk away but obviously didn't know how to and fell. again
Well, I thought Ravenclaws were smart, I don't know what went wrong with you. I just tried to help you, ignoring the fact that my painting that I spent hours on just got destroyed because you weren't walking carefully. Michelle's voice was raising at an alarming rate. She didn't talk with a raised voice unless absolutely necessary. What was she doing?
She continued : Maybe learn to control your anger, and also, learn a new magic word today. It's called 'Sorry'. It's not too hard to pronounce."
What did Michelle just do? It wasn't like her to shout at someone at something this small. She figured she probably shouldn't have said that: she just invited trouble.
Michelle really didn't like her habit of overthinking.Michelle's talking colour: color=#6b4d84

Renelle almost felt bad for the girl she was yelling at. If they had met another day, practically any other than this, they might have become— well, perhaps not great friends, but they would certainly not hate each other as much as both surely would. The thing was, she couldn’t even tell why she was acting this way. It was very out of character for her, and she had been in quite a good mood before tripping.
And now this girl has the nerve to use her own insults against her? Those were her insults! If the Ravenclaw had just been an onlooker in all this drama, without any personal part in it, she might have been impressed. As it was, though, she was furious.
“Oh yeah?” With some difficultly, Renelle pushed herself up. Ignoring the stinging pain starting to manifest itself all over the body, she glared at the Hufflepuff in front of her. “You call that a painting? I might have just done you a favour by ‘ruining’ it, because the picture honestly looks so much better! So you’re welcome.”
Everything was going wrong. It was the moment Renelle tripped, her evening was fated to be everything she hated. It was just this girl’s bad luck that she happened to be the one on the receiving end of her fury, though right now, she couldn’t care less. As far as she was concerned, this Asian girl was the living embodiment of Satan, and she was a poor innocent angel. The truth was far from that, of course, but the dark-haired girl was simply not thinking clearly at the moment.
Without listening to anything else this horrible girl had to say, Renelle turned, and marched away once more. Luckily, this time she did not fall down, or dying of embarrassment might have actually been a very real possibility. Dramatic exits were only any good if they actually went off smoothly.Renelle has left the thread.Interacting with @Michelle Brown
