Mandy bit her lip as she made her way towards the Ravenclaw table in the Great Hall. It was the morning after the sorting ceremony and many students where all hanging around, talking about their summer and making new friends. Mandy had never really been good at making friends before, but this was a new school and a new chance. It was quite funny, yesterday morning she had been so excited to come here, start learning magic, making friends, only that task seemed to be more difficult than she originally had thought.
Mandy let out a sigh, looking up at the enchanted ceiling, hoping Bohica, her eagle owl, would come and visit her. Maybe a letter from her parents had arrived, even it was just a small one wishing her luck. And on que, Bohica came flying down, her brown wings shining in the morning sun. Mandy smiled and watched as Bohica gracefully landed next to her still empty plate, a small letter in her beack. "Thank you, Bohica." I said as I fed her some toast. She gladfully took it before taking a gulp of water out of her water goblet. Mandy gently stroked her owl's head before Bohica flew away for a well deserved nap. Mandy bit her lip as she opened the letter.

Dear Mandy,
We hope you have had a great night's sleep.
We are so proud you are sorted into Ravenclaw!
You are truly starting your own Hogwarts journey.
Now don't overwork, as you can do and don't worry about finding friends.
We are sure you will make loads of them.
We love you and miss you already.
Have a great school year honey and we will see you in Christmas break.
Love,
Mum and Dad

Mandy bit her lip and looked around the room, hoping to find someone who seemed like a nice person and someone she could be friends with.

Tammy was sitting at the Hufflepuff table alone, a book opened in front of her while a plate with the leftovers of her food and an empty cup was beside the book. It was just a book on Muggle creatures, something she finds interesting as they were more simple-looking compared to the magical creatures. She wasn't expecting any letters from home, or at least from her parents since they're usually busy. From her brothers, perhaps, they usually aren't busy. Maybe they'll send a letter on how her house, or maybe they'll tell her on what's happened at home since she left. She could only wait.

She went back to reading her book but found that it was already finished. She closed it and her eyes wandered to the other students in the Great Hall. Most of them were with their friends, chatting. She hadn't really familiarized herself with the other Hufflepuffs, being too nervous to even let out any words. She simply hoped maybe someone could approach her, she wasn't going to approach anyone that's for sure. She would but it was a new place and new faces, she could only watch as the other students interacted with each other. She looked down at the cover of the book. It had a leather cover with the words Muggle Creatures: A Guide written in cursive and colored gold.

She tapped the book cover with her right index finger, debating if she should spend her free time after classes finishing the new books she had gotten from her mother or trying to make friends. She was leaning more on the latter if she were to be honest.

Mandy’s eye soon fell on a first year Hufflepuff reading a book she had not yet read. It clearly was from the Library. Not so strange of course that she had not read the book yet. The Library at Hogwarts was so incredibly large, that Mandy wondered if she ever had the chance to read every book there was in the seven years that she would be here. On closer inspection, Mandy noticed it was a Hogwarts a History, a book she had been dying to read but had not yet had the chance to do so. Also since every copy was always borrowed from the Library and she had forgotten her own copy had home. Come to think of it, she remembered she wanted to ask her parents to send her the book, but keeps forgetting. And she also wondered if her owl would be able to carry it, but then again, her mum would most likely cast a spell so that Bohica would barely notice the extra weight hanging from her paw.

Mandy bit her lip and made her way towards the girl. Might as well use the excuse of wanting to borrow her book to hopefully make a new friend. “Good morning. I saw you were reading Hogwarts a History, and I was wondering if I can borrow it from you. My name is Mandy Panders by the way. I am a first year Ravenclaw.” She said as polite as possible.

Hearing the greeting, Tammy had looked up from the cover of the book to see a Ravenclaw first year. The blonde then looked at the book before looking back at the girl.

"Oh, good morning," Tammy nodded as she gave a small smile. "I'm Tammy Wilson, the book is actually about Muggle creatures but if you want Hogwarts: A History then I can bring it for you, I have a copy of it in my dorm..."

The blonde had always been the friendly type but she wasn't brave enough to approach anyone. She's at least thankful whenever someone approaches her. Although she wouldn't be so thankful if bullies approached her, that would be disastrous.

Tammy's also a little bit too nice for her own sake. She'd even trouble herself just to help others. Her mother gave her a copy of Hogwarts: A History, saying that she can read it during her free time or break. She's a reader and she can finish a book in no time if she's interested in it.

She felt rather awkward whenever she corrected someone, and slightly bad since most of the time the other would feel embarrassed and she knows how that feels. The feeling of embarrassment is something she hates the most.
