7 September
Ordinary day in Hogwarts. Or maybe it's only as it seemed? It was already 7th September and she still didn't see her Gryffindor bestie. That was becoming too weird and Linda didn't like all thoughts she was getting. So she went outside the room, where she spent just some time. After some walking in the castle, Li went to the grounds.

She found a place to sit in and stayed there. It was good to be here but something was missing. She looked up trying to get away from unwanted thoughts and she noticed something laying on the tree. It was quite interesting, there shouldn't be anything there unless someone forgot it or left it specially.

Linda stood up and climbed the tree a little to find a book. Oh if it's something mysterious again, it has to become more creative than starting with book. Anyway she opened it and found that it describes a way to find something extremely important at the end of journey. Well, it surely sounded quite fascinating.

Li started to think. What could be hidden in the end? What could be so important if it really was? It was definitely worth it. Linda put book down and stayed on the tree for a bit more time. Something changed in her. Li felt so much at the same time and none of that she wanted to have. It was so hard, almost impossible to ignore this feeling where was her friend. She didn't come to Hogwarts that's Linda was sure in. But now she also was thinking about who left this book here. Who even made it because it looked handmade.

She looked at it again. It didn't attract much attention. Li surely wouldn't notice it in the library. But once she opened it, that's what was the most attractive here. There was a map of castle. Someone drew it and very detailed. However, instead of names of places there were crosses and footprints. As if creator of this book was drawing a path with marking places that had something in them. What was there? Probably some clues, maybe it had something that will help her understand the final prize.

She was so lost in her feelings and thoughts. Linda surely would take s bit to notice if someone would come closer. But maybe she could share this journey with someone? Perhaps it would finally distract her from all the thoughts she's keeping inside. That would be great.

JULIET'S DARK EYES WATCHED the rock roll a few feet ahead, following her soft kick. It stopped and she kicked it once again, trailing right after it, continuing this cycle of mild amusement until the rock found its way to the bottom of the lake. The weather was too nice to stay inside today, and this was the only way she could have some fun. Juliet wasn't confident enough in her flying skills to get a school broom and fly around, nor did she want to face the pile of homework awaiting inside the Gryffindor common room.

If only she had her football with her, she'd be having a lot more fun than kicking rocks and walking around the school grounds by herself... but she should stop thinking about it for now. Whatever. There was no way to go back in time and stop that Slytherin girl, Winona, from setting it on fire.

She swung her arm back and forth, the sleeves of her large plaid red shirt covering her arms. The girl looked like a regular muggle. Like she didn't belong yet. As soon as classes ended for the day, she decided to change into something more comfortable: jeans, black Converses, a black tank top, and an oversized button-up shirt. It was Juliet's comfort outfit. She needed a hug. Or something else to do. Something engaging and harmless. With someone who was nice.

Juliet kicked the rock one last time. It rolled down and fell to the lake. A heavy sigh left her bruised lips - she had the terrible habit of pulling her dry skin until it bled. Mum hated it. But it happened because she was so stressed.

Her eyes landed on a tree, and her eyebrows shot up at the sight of a familiar girl. She recognized the light brown hair and facial features - it was Linda. The girl she talked to on her first day. A fellow Gryffindor. She was nice!

With hurried steps, Juliet approached, placing a hand on the tree, careful not to spook the older girl with her sudden appearance. She noticed Linda seemed focused - staring down at something she couldn't quite see yet.

"Hello," Juliet let out and waved, hoping it wasn't too much. The last thing she wanted was to cause Linda to fall from the tree. "It's me - Juliet. We met about a week or something,"

Linda suddenly heard someone putting hand on the tree. Then familiar voice came, announcing it was Juliet. Li remembered her. Hi Juliet. Do you want to join? I found something here that sounds quite interesting, maybe you'd like to see it too? Linda smiled enthusiastically and gave Juliet hand, if the younger girl would like to join. Otherwise she would quickly put it on the tree and go down with new found book.

Red hair surprisingly still looked great, despite the fact of her sitting on the tree. She liked this color. It was first time she dyed her hair, in July this year. She now was so enthusiastic, suddenly, as if not having all those thoughts just some seconds ago. She hugged Juliet as welcoming her friend and then remembered it could be awkward for the girl, she gave her the book Linda found a moment ago.

Sorry about the hug. I just was so happy. Here, you can take a look at what I found here. This new Linda was so new, but interesting to discover. How much else she has that she could learn about herself? Li didn't know, but it was going to be interesting. She looked at Juliet wondering, would she be interested in this journey? So soon Linda would know about it, but now she could only wait.

It was nice to meet this girl again. And if she's interested in this book, they could surely know each other better. Maybe this could be beginning for their friendship? Linda didn't know and didn't want to think about it now.

How are you so far? Sorry we didn't meet earlier again, but I'm happy we've met now. Linda looked away for a second. This year already was bringing new people in her life, and it just started. There still was bad feeling about the fact of not seeing her best friend. Should she even try to make new friends? Get to know new people only to hope she won't lose anyone, that's not good idea. But looking at Juliet Linda put away all bad thoughts. Second year wanted to be friends with this girl, so if first year was wishing the same, Li will do her best to be good friend.

She again started to think about what will be found in the end. Maybe that will be something really so priceless that it was really worth it?

THE OFFER OF SOMETHING new got Juliet curious, eyebrows going up.

She accepted her hand, placing her feet on the tree trunk. With a little struggle, she managed to go up, sitting right next to her, hands on each side of her body, in case she lost balance. The last thing she wanted was to fall from a tree.

While that hug surprised her, it wasn't uncomfortable. Juliet wasn't used to people around here initiating physical contact, however. The younger lion pat Linda's back awkwardly, before clearing her throat, darting her eyes down, swinging her legs back and forth.

"Ah, it's okay, you don't need to apologize," Juliet let out, placing her hands on her lap, before reaching for the book.

Her dark brown eyes watched it. It looked like it belonged in the school library, but was clearly handmade. She ran her fingers through its sides, in a gentle caress. Curiosity got the best of her, and she opened the book - eyes scanning the descriptions of a journey. She didn't know what they'd get at the end of that journey, but it sounded exciting.

"Where did you find this? Here?" Juliet asked, offering the book back to Linda, in case the girl wanted to keep it. "Ah, I've been okay. And that's fine,"

Yeah I noticed it here on the tree. Well, I didn't know what it's at first, so I climbed here to see just some minutes before you came, I guess. Linda smiled enthusiastically. It was very interesting and intriguing. She was really enjoying the thought about this new adventure.

She didn't mind keeping the book with Juliet, however, Li took it and placed between them carefully. What do you think about it? It sounds quite exciting but I'm wondering who made it and why.

Even been so up to almost anything, Linda couldn't stop thinking about whether it was good idea or it was dangerous. So, she started to think about it more. After some time, Li decided she could go as far as it seemed to stay safe.

What do you usually like to do? It was quite random question, but she could use this time while they were sitting there on the tree to know Juliet more.

Do you have a middle name? Li sat listening to the younger lion girl. There was only one person so far who knew her middle name. She never spoke about it much in her first year. But, she as well never made it obvious that she's from quite wealthy pureblood family. This year it changed. However, Linda still was kind and friendly. So, not everything changed.

Coming back from her thoughts, Li looked at Juliet. How was it for others to find out first time ever about magic? She guessed it wasn't completely like for her to know about muggle world. Even earlier she knew about its existence. Now Linda was more proud of herself. There were some things she now knew about muggle things.

So what are your thoughts about this book? I was thinking, whether to try to follow it and see what will be in the end or not.

ALTHOUGH SHE HAD WILLINGLY handed the book back to her fellow housemate, Juliet's eyes didn't leave it, watching its plain appearance as it rested between them on the tree trunk. It got her thinking about who had made it, and what that journey was all about - would it be dangerous? Would they break the rules? Would it be fun?... It sounded like it.

Linda's visible enthusiasm brought a smile to Juliet's face, "Me too. It sounds like something straight out of a kid's movie, you know," She glanced at the older girl, unsure if she'd get what Juliet was on about.

Since classes started, Juliet learned not every first year had the same background as her. Some were born wizards and all of her 'muggleness' was weird to them. Of course, there were some who understood - like Ophelia, the Ravenclaw she met during Charms lesson. But... it made her self-conscious nonetheless.

"I think it'd be interesting to follow it... to see where it'd lead us," Juliet confessed, shoulders going up like she was embarrassed by her curiosity. The quick questions got her by surprise, humming as she thought about it. Her mind was blank for a second - as it happened when put on the spot like that - but she eventually managed to come up with a response. "Ah, I like football and reading. I guess I enjoy doing a bit of everything... except homework. And yes, I do, it's Rose. Juliet Rose Ashbrook - what about you?"

Juliet awkwardly gestured to her friend, lips pressed together in a thin smile.

Linda looked at Juliet and smiled. She noticed that this book got the younger girl interested and thinking. There were things to think about. It would be too bad to follow the books path to get into something dangerous, so was it unsafe or not?

As long as it didn't require any prohibited places and didn't require to swim in great lake they shouldn't break any rules. As well as they definitely wouldn't do it at night, so they won't break curfew either. So, regarding rules, it was safe. But was was waiting them in this journey? Linda trusted it to be safe. Or better yet, she trusted Hogwarts to not contain any dangerous things laying anywhere like this.

I'm not sure I know about kid's movie, but I understand what you mean. Linda smiled thoughtfully. She now knew much more about muggle world and their technology, but still there were a lot of things she didn't know. Maybe she could ask her friends who live in muggle world to show her some movies. Li never thought about it before.

Yeah, it'd be quite awesome. Linda agreed with a curious smile. Oh nice. I like a little bit of mostly everything too. Nice middle name. Mine is Emilia. Linda Emilia Ramirez.

Linda smiled and carefully went to stand on the ground again under the tree. It's really nice day.

SWINGING HER LEGS, JULIET watched Linda get down, gaze then drifting over to the Hogwarts grounds. She breathed in, enjoying the way the air filled her lungs. Then, she hesitated for a second, before getting down as well. They'd never get to reach the end of whatever journey awaited them if they remained seated on a tree.

"Your name is so pretty," She said, honestly. Most people were embarrassed by their middle name (and sometimes, understandably so) but Emilia rolled off the tongue well. Juliet liked her middle name as well, thankful her parents had decided on Rose, rather than something bland like Elizabeth, or Jean.

Juliet looked around. The weather was pleasant enough today. It was a good choice to wear her long-sleeved button-up shirt. You never know when it's gonna get cold. Bringing her arms together to hug her waist, only so she had something to do, she approached Linda.

"Are there any other clues there?" Juliet asked, curious about the nature of that book. Hogwarts was a place with endless secrets, or so she'd heard - to think her friend had managed to find a mysterious book was nothing short of exciting. "Something we can do to start our journey already?"

Ah thank you, yours is nice too. Linda smiled looking at Juliet. It was unusual feeling to hear from someone these words. But it made her feel so nice and it was awesome.

We could probably find something in the library. You know it leads there through the great hall and then to the grounds. So maybe there's something we could find in these places as well.

Linda looked curiously at the book and the other girl again. Could it be something really worthy? If she gets closer to more people, will it bring more pain in the future? Li didn't know. However, it definitely will be a mistake to push others away. Besides, Linda doesn't have anything against the girl, so it would be quite rude to suddenly change her attitude to her.

Did you notice anything else that I could miss? Linda asked, getting out of the thoughts that started to fill her head. Those were unwanted. What did you feel when you came to Hogwarts first day? And how do you feel about it now?

Linda wanted to keep some kind of small talk with this girl. It would be nice to know more, even if they won't be friends later.
