Damian had received a letter some days before asking for a meeting: at first, he didn’t understand why his childhood friend Camron wanted to see him with such insistence. It was true that Damian hadn’t reached out to any of his friends during the summer, mainly because of his parents' will to make him study so that he could have started the school year ahead of everyone, but still he remembered they had greeted each other on multiple occasions.

He of course replied with very few words, and asked to meet in the courtyard after the classes of the first week day at Hogwarts. He didn’t ask anything in the letter, he preferred to talk in person and see by himself what was the matter. He owled back the letter he had written and waited for the day of their meeting.

Classes were over for the day, and Damian swiftly walked towards the courtyard, ignoring every other student that was walking outside their classrooms to go to their dorms or in the Great Hall. He was very curious to know what was the matter, and why Camron wanted to talk to him in person. It seemed like a serious topic, and Damian didn’t have much time to think about it and formulate a hypothesis, so all he could do was to meet his friend and see for himself.

When he finally arrived at the place of the meeting, Camron still had to arrive. To be honest, Damian kinda rushed his way there and wasn’t surprised to notice he was the first one to arrive. It wasn’t a problem, he had some books with him and could have waited for a while: he chose a quiet spot in the courtyard, took one of his textbooks and read some lines, occasionally raising the eyes from the book to see if Camron was coming.

Camron had arrived a tad bit late than expected to be as he was the one who was supposed to be there first but due to a very late class ending for him he was just running to get there first before Damian did. But when Camron got there he saw that Damian already was there first waiting for him. He took a deep breath as he wanted to make sure he didn't forget about what he wanted to say to him since it was kind of hard for him to not forget about important things he wanted to talk about but with all that out of the way.

He slowly walked up to Damian as well as checking if his clothes weren't dirty or anything like that. He quietly sat beside him making sure he wasn't in his line of sight as he slowly peaked at what he was reading. It looked like one of the textbooks from one of their classes as he remembered the page numbers and all since he had grown up with a lot of books around him so Camron didn't have a problem finding that page immediately.

Camron slowly put his hands around his shoulders than: "Boo! Haha did I scare ya bookworm?" Camron said in a joking manner as thats what friends do as he was waiting for his response on what will he comment about that silly little gesture

Damian’s reading was getting immersive, and he gradually stopped looking for Camron’s figure without realising he was about to arrive. His eyes were all for his book, almost like he wanted for his friend to arrive as late as possible so that he could have some more time to read and finish the chapter. The light breeze that was flowing in the courtyard contributed to creating a gentle atmosphere, perfect for both reading and chatting with someone.

That’s why he didn’t notice the arrival of Camron at all, and of course he didn’t notice that the boy was standing right behind him and peeking at his reading. He maybe could have felt some sort of feeling of being observed, but he quickly dismissed it and continued, convinced that his friend would have called for him as soon as he had arrived. Damian had also completely lost the sense of time, and couldn’t have said how much time had passed since he started reading.

Even if Camron was delicate and slow in his movements Damian was so assorted in his book that the sudden contact with reality made him flinch and turned immediately over to meet Camron’s eyes. His hair also briefly turned a blondish colour due to the shock, but for once it returned its usual dark brown colour almost immediately. “Oh, you got me.” he commented with a light smile, almost imperceptible. “How is it going?” he asked at first, knowing how much time had passed since they last saw each other. He was ready to give his explanation, but also wanted to know the reason behind their meeting. “So, what did you want to tell me?” he added curious, hoping it wasn’t anything too bad.

"I wanted to talk to you about something but could we go somewhere else" Camron said as he wanted to keep it between himself and Damian as well as didn't want any other students to get involved in there discussion or the teachers as the matter of fact. "Does the school grounds sound more quieter to you? I always know you were a quiet fella when we were little." Camron said Laughing a bit at that statement he made. It was indeed true since they would sometimes get into fights for the littlest interruptment possible between them. Even though they should already already been mature enough they still act like kids sometimes and that's what's special about them.

Camron wanted for Damian's response as he leaned his head on the fountain pillar while he crosses his arms to his chest simply giving him time to answer Camron as of course Camron was never been the type to rush responses to his closest childhood friends. "Do you always have to carry those heavy books around all the time even when our classes end? You could have just put them in your dorm house you know. I have so many questions about you and still, i have so few answers" Camron added, he was always the slowly type when it comes to doing stuff he needed to do before going somewhere or hang out.

Damian was even more intrigued by what Camron had to say to him, if he wanted to talk somewhere without the passage of other students. Had something happened? He looked at his friend without saying anything, nodding slightly and moving some steps towards a more quiet and private area of the courtyard. Everyone was already busy with their own things anyway, so nobody would have walked there.

“I think this is a good place.” he stated and waited for the response. He didn’t ask again what was going on, as he figured out Camron would probably start talking in a few seconds: his mind was jumping from idea to idea, wondering what was so urgent and important to be discussed in isolation.

Damian almost laughed at his friend’s observation: he knew how obsessed Damian was with books and knowledge, but he actually got a point. “Sometimes, yes. I went here straight from class.” he explained, putting back his book in the bag and feeling only at that moment the weight of his books.

“So many questions?” he thought slightly confused. It was true though, they had been friends for years but they never really talked about more serious things. And the more he thought about it, the more he realised he also didn’t know much about Camron.

Camron slowly got the courage to say this to Damian as he started to speak to him "I think it's unfair for us both to be in different houses instead of both of us being in the same house. Plus I have already seen you made half of the friends coming from Slytherin" Carmron stated as it wasn't far that Damian got into Gryffindor and not Slytherin which it would be much easier for Damian to hang out with his friends that aren't from another end of the school walls.

"We could have been together 24/7, we could hang out all the time and we could have the same classes together, just so we don't have to walk across the entire school just to find each other" He said, Camron, he was trying so hard to convince Damian that he should have been in Slytherin. But of course he couldn't convince him that easily and that he can't switch houses that easily so they both needed to stay in the house they were sorted in until they graduated fully from Hogwarts. Plus Camron forgot that the sorting hat never lied in like a 100 years so whichever the house they were sorted in they will be staying there for the rest of the school year

Damian sighed as Camron started his speech. He looked quite angry and disappointed that they weren’t in the same house, and to be honest Damian agreed on what he was saying: his sorting in Gryffindor had raised many questions in the boy’s mind, he wasn’t feeling a Gryffindor at all. Maybe he didn’t know himself that much? Or maybe the Sorting Hat really made a mistake some days before?

“Ugh, I know. You guys all went to Slytherin, and I already managed to argue with many of my housemates. My parents were sure I was going to be a Ravenclaw like them, I was sure to be a Slytherin. And here I am, all in red.” He replied, visibly upset. He didn’t have a single friend in Gryffindor and spent his evenings alone with his books or at the window thinking while everyone got their friends together. “But I think there’s nothing to do about it. The Sorting Hat is never wrong, and I doubt it would accept our complaints.”

The more he thought about it, the more he got frustrated. There wasn’t a single good thing he could find in being a Gryffindor, and he couldn’t do anything about it. He was truly destined to be alone, watching his childhood friends and his new friends having fun in Slytherin? He didn’t know that, but for sure he look really annoyed by the thought.

"Well thats not fun at all isnt it?" Camron said as he puts an arm around his shoulder trying his best to be the best comfort friend as possible. "So want to go get something to eat before our next class starts? I heard the cafeteria has the best food when there isnt a lot of students getting all the food at once" Camron suggested

He wasn't lying when he said some late hours are better when there are no people around or is just a pack full of students trying to get something all at once which often makes the halls busy 24/7 as usual and of course the weekends are no better, so the best option is the stay in the dorm room all day doing and just stare a wall all-day.

"So have you gotten any letters from your parents at all about the news you are in Gryffindor or you just want to keep a secret from them?" Camron asked him. of course he would respect Damians privacy if he didnt want to talk about it at all but he was still waiting for an answer so he could avoid talking about those types of topics when they talk again.
