The Sun was finally beginning to set, and her nap was coming to an end. Nara was going to have to eat dinner and then prepare for the upcoming full moon. Though the only physical preparation she could really do was taking the wolfsbane potion before she transformed, it was in her best interest to relax for the days leading up to the full moon. It seemed like it would make things easier. Though, the pain never truly did get easier.
Lots of naps helped, and Nara was probably the best person at naps. Although she did hate waking up from them- dreamland was her home, after all. Naps and stretching were her go-to ways to relax and prepare before it was time for her to transform. The pain from stretching never seemed to compare to the pain from actually changing. Obviously, her entire body was going from one thing to another, but did it still need to hurt so violently? It was kind of lame.
She still had some time before it was time to eat, but she should get up anyway. Maybe stretch some more and then start heading over to the Great Hall? She could also meet up with Sage before dinner and hang out!
As she began walking off from her hiding spot where she had been napping, she spotted a boy a few feet away, mumbling to himself- and a spot on his neck that made Nara very aware of who he was, considering she had a mark similar on the left of her stomach- right where she had been bitten a few years prior.
"Hey you!" She called, waving her hand, approaching the boy. "Are you- you're a werewolf, yeah?"

In just a few days, Allen would be forced to face his first full moon away from the comfort of his childhood home. The impending event left him feeling nervous and uneasy, weighing heavily on his mind. As he was returning from a solitary walk, a sudden interruption caught him off guard, unsettling his already jumbled thoughts.

Turning to the source of the call, Allen discovered a girl waving at him. His surprise deepened as he realized how easily she had spotten him. "How did you-" His sentence was cut short, as he soon figured out the scars on his neck, remnants giving away his identity, must've stood out conspicuously on his exposed, pale skin. Regret flooded his mind for neglecting to wear his scarf, a decision that now seemed terribly ill-advised. "Ugh..." he groaned, vexed by his carelessness. "Please stay quiet. I don't want anyone else to know." he pleaded, unaware of the possibility that the lovely girl approaching him might also be a werewolf.

Uncertain whether he missed the chance to deny her assumption or if his condition had been too apparent, Allen decided to appeal to her kindness. With innocent, pleading puppy eyes, he decided to just kindly ask her to guard his secret.

"Huh? Oh. Sure, I guess. Your secret is safe with me." 'I don't even know who you are anyway...' Nara thought, shrugging mentally. She herself was no stranger to the twinge of shame that was felt when someone mentioned her furry little problem, though hers was much easier to hide. Poor kid.
Curiosity peaked in her mind, this boy could've been the same age as her, if not a year difference or so. Maybe he just wasn't used to the transformations yet? It had taken Nara herself multiple times over and over before she was able to cope with what would happen every month. Maybe this boy had been more recently turned than she had? The idea still made her stomach churn a bit.
"You know the full moon is in a few days," she comments, looking over at him, "uh... you- have you transformed before? You know what it's like, right?" There was probably an easier way of asking that question, but Nara had never really been one for smooth-talking. If she beat around the subject too much anyway, the boy probably wouldn't even know what she was asking.
"Oh- I'm a werewolf too, by the way. I don't want my questions to seem like a weird curious human or whatever." She assured, waving her hand. "I just uh... you know. You're a first year, right? Then this has gotta be your first time transforming here. Um... it'll probably be scary but, y'know it could really be worse? I- I actually don't know if it could be worse."
Her rambling came to a quick close as she realized what she was saying. Yes, the full moon could be worse, technically. She could not have the wolfsbane potion or accidently hurt someone and then have to deal with the consequences. But having to be in some foreign place while you do so might be actual hell, so she should try to be nice to this boy- and maybe pray a little that it doesn't backfire.

The young boy's initial embarrassment and disappointment swiftly transformed into fascination as he gazed into the eyes of the girl standing before him. She confessed to sharing the same condition, and this revelation brought him an unexpected sense of comfort. "You really are..?" It was almost reassuring to encounter another werewolf while appearing entirely human. Furthermore, she seemed to be a genuinely kind and considerate individual, as evidenced by her approach and willingness to engage in conversation.

"I know." he responded to her mentioning about the scary nature of transformations, with a mixture of relief and lingering distress. "It's been the only thing in my mind since I came here. Even in the safety of my own home, it felt like an absolute nightmare to transform. And now, here I am..." He suddenly realized he was basically just rambling and venting to someone he had only just met, promptly cutting himself off in mid-sentence.

It was uncommon for him to feel such excitement about meeting someone new, and he found himself grappling with the awkwardness of trying to find the right words to say, especially since he had so much he wanted to talk about. With a timid smile forming on his pale face, he finally managed to regain his composure and said, "Ah, I apologize I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Allen. What about you?"

"Hm... to be honest, it might be- feel like... easier? To transform here- maybe... because there's other people with you and they can relate...?" At her words, Nara felt herself internally cringe. She was not the best at talking, and though her voice was monotone and easy on the ears, her words could've been used better. Especially at this poor attempt at comfort.
"I don't really know if it's easier around others or by yourself, but like... I dunno, being by yourself at your lowest is kinda lonely, y'know?" Her words tumbled together, and she shrugged at her own comment. It was weirdly difficult to get the pronunciations out of her throat, and the tone simmered on her tongue. If she would just relax, and maybe stop trying to act like she knew what she was doing or talked about, it might've come easier to her.
Nara bit her lip again, a nervous habit that had begun to form a year or two prior. A memory slipped through her mind, and she recalled a time she had bit her lip in her wolf form and had it marked over for a week or so afterwards. The passive habit hadn't left marks before, so she had decided to take a more careful approach to habits as a werewolf.
"That uh, reminds me..." she coughed into her elbow, taking a moment to bite her lip again once it was hidden behind her sleeved shirt. "I'm not sure why it reminds me, but I've got this bad habit of biting my lip, and I did it one time when I had transformed, and it left a mark for a few days. Weird, right?" It probably wasn't weird, given how much stronger she was when she wasn't human- but words fell out of her mouth in order to keep the conversation going.
"I'm Nara, sorry for rambling. It's nice to meet you, Allen."

It wasn't too difficult to empathize with what the older girl was saying. Allen could understand how repetitive behaviors might bring a sense of comfort, even if they were harmful. "That must have been painful... But at least it didn't leave a scar." Having a bite mark on your neck was already a challenge, and having one on one's face would be even worse, he thought.

Hoping to bring a smile to the girl's face, Allen gathered the courage to share a story of his own, one that he found very embarrassing but also amusing. "I also had an awkward habit during my first transformations," he said. "It felt really strange to see myself like that, so I used to cover my eyes with my paws, like a scared puppy." He then demonstrated the scene by bringing his hands up to his face for a few seconds, followed by a little chuckle. Strange how easy it was to get the timid, introverted Hufflepuff boy to try being friendly.

Listening to someone else's experiences for the first time was both exciting and even soothing. However, it seemed that Nara was finding it difficult to continue talking about the topic. Trying to make things less awkward, Allen smiled warmly and said, "Please, take your time sharing your thoughts. I've never had the chance to talk with someone who like me before. I really appreciate it." He genuinely meant those words. Only after he finished speaking did he truly grasp how accurate Nara was in saying that having people who could relate made things easier.

Nara's head bobs along as Allen speaks, and she lets out a snicker at his story. "That sounds so cute though! Kind of like what a baby or puppy would do, y'know?" Would baby werewolves look more like puppies when they transformed? Obviously older werewolves looked more akin to a wolf-human mix, but would babies look different?
Babies shouldn't be werewolves though, so Nara decided to stop thinking about it before she could consider anything.
"There's quite a few werewolves here, have you met any of them-?" she cut herself off, shaking her head, "Wait, sorry, you just said you haven't. There's a really nice girl who's a werewolf, same house as us and she's in my year. Her name is Tesla. I met her last year actually... around this time of year..." Her voice trailed off as she realized the coincidence. Weird, but probably not related!
"She knows like all of the werewolves here. Well, maybe not all of them, but I'm pretty sure she knows most of them. I'm not nearly as sociable as her. I feel like it's kinda weird if I meet someone just because we both happen to... yeah..." She sighs and shakes her head. "But I'm not saying I regret talking to you or anything- you're very nice! And I'm enjoying our conversation." After pausing for another moment, she smiled nervously. "Sorry, I hope that didn't sound wrong."

Describing something about being a werewolf as 'cute' certainly sounded... unusual, to say the least. He made an effort to conceal his surprise, but he couldn't help but show a hint of it in his reaction to Nara's comment.

Prior to this encounter, the only comments Allen had received about the topic were insults from his sister, with his parents urging him to keep his condition hidden as if it were the most shameful secret one could have.

Allen listened with both excitement and genuine interest as Nara spoke, even when she abruptly cut her own sentence short. He could empathize with the challenges of socializing, so he ignored it completely. "What a coincidence. Well, we're going to be here for years, and I'm sure I'll have the chance to meet her and others in the future as well."

As he wondered how other werewolves met each other at school, he was once again reminded of how noticeable his scar must have been. He let out a sigh but continued to speak with a bashful smile. "As nice as it was meeting you, I should probably wear a scarf or something around school."

The first month of autumn wasn't even chilly enough for people to start wearing scarves, making it likely that the young boy would find it bothersome to conceal a part of his body every day.
