It all starts with a fellow student Pv Landon Matthews Locked

Landon smiled shyly as Mari mentioned being late sometimes. "Y-Yeah, I try to plan ahead, but those stairs have a mind of their own!" he said, laughing a little. He was glad to hear that he wasn't the only one who was sometimes late because of that sort of thing. Though sometimes he was late for things that were completely in his own control, like losing his things. If he was more organized, he would have fewer instances of losing his things. His brain was just always full of other stuff, so he tended to forget to keep things organized.

Landon settled into his seat at the table while he waited for Mari to return. He ran his hands along his notes, flattening out the folds that had developed because he hadn't taken good care of the papers after class. He sighed, a little frustrated with himself for being so disorganized, but he was trying. He was at least more aware that he was disorganized. Now it was just a matter of self-discipline. He really needed to work on it. Even though it wasn't as fun as just reading his history books and learning new things. Honestly, with his thoughts being about learning all the time, he was still surprised he wasn't a Ravenclaw, but the more he spent time in Hufflepuff, the more he felt like he did fit in with that house. It was just a shock when he first was sorted.

Landon looked up, smiling softly as Mari returned. "It's alright, the stairs are unpredictable. I was lucky my travels went well myself," he said with a hum. "Though, my dorms are closer to this room than yours are, so it makes sense that I would get here first," he added. Landon reached for the book she set on the table before hesitating a little. "Can I look at the book?" he asked, not wanting to be rude and just grab her belongings. "Maybe there's a section in the book that is perfect for our assignment," he said. He was settling into talking to her a little more easily now that they were talking about homework.

Mari looked at the boy, possibly Landon, the boy had light brown hair and eyes the color of the sea, he was probably wearing glasses too as he had them on the table, he seemed to be a little taller than Mari too. Mari also noticed the table where the boy was sitting and it was organized Okay, at least... I think it's not extremely disorganized!

The boy seemed to have been scared by Mari arriving like that "Y-Yes... I'm Landon...", The boy said, stuttering a little, maybe he was scared... or he may have been embarrassed"A-Are you Mari?" The boy returned Mari's smile. Mari nodded slightly before responding to the boy " Hello Landon! Yes, I'm Mari, Mari Alves, nice to meet you and sorry if I scared you" Mari says with a small laugh at the end .

Mari was heading towards the chair where she was going to sit on the edge of London, "You are Landon.. Ma.. Matthews... am I right?? Do you like this subject??" Mari says going to sit down, the boy seemed a little shy around other people, Mari was feeling the boy a little maybe... nervous, with Mari's presence " Hey, is everything ok?? I don't going to hurt you! As long as I don't get too upset, or screw anything up... it should be fine!Mari gives a slight smile at the end of the sentence, waiting for Landon to relax a little

Landon didn't mean to stammer when he was approached by Mari, but he had been a bit surprised by her approach and he did tend to struggle a bit with talking to girls. He brushed some of his light brown hair out of his eyes and tugged on his glasses, knowing that they would need to be reading when they would be working on their group assignment. He offered her a small smile when Mari apologized for scaring him. "It's okay... I was just not expecting... a sudden v-voice," he admitted with a sigh. He was trying so hard not to stammer. He felt like he was appearing stupid and he wasn't stupid.

Landon nodded as Mari asked him if he was Landon Matthews. "Y-Yes, I'm Landon Matthews," he said. His eyes lit up when she asked him if he liked the subject. "I love History of Magic!" he said, a large smile on his face. He never felt shy or nervous about talking about his love for history. Landon waited for Mari to sit down and shook his head a little when she said that she wasn't going to hurt him. "S-Sorry. Girls make me a little nervous... my sister... she's very intimidating," he admitted shyly. "B-But once I get used to you, I'll be okay," he admitted. He relaxed slightly, though he did feel a little nervous about her possibly getting upset or making mistakes since she said it would be fine without those things.

Landon glanced down at his notes, frowning as his handwriting was hard to read at times. He sighed. "D-Do you remember exactly what we are supposed to be doing?" he asked. He didn't mean to make it so he couldn't read his notes, but it was definitely a bit difficult to read.

Mari felt Landon calmer when talking about the history of magic, his eyes even lit up, he seemed to like it a lot " Good! I like it too, I always preferred the defense against the dark arts, but I also like it much of this theme!" Mari already likes D.C.A.T. since always! Literally forever! But the history of magic was also a subject he liked.

Landon smiled as Mari said that she also liked the subject. He could understand why people preferred Defense Against the Dark Arts. It was an exciting class where they got to learn more spells and learn about things that were dangerous. History, in comparison, was a lot more about reading and studying than practical magic. He did like having magic abilities, of course, but they weren't the only thing he was interested in. He still really loved history classes.

Landon nodded as Mari guessed that his twin was a Slytherin. "Y-Yeah, she is," he admitted. He loved his twin, of course, but she could be a bit overwhelming at times. Landon looked at the notes that Mari set on the table, his eyes wide. "Y-You have really nice handwriting," he said softly. "You should definitely d-do the writing for the assignment. I... I have trouble reading my own handwriting at times," he admitted. He was glad that one of them had legible handwriting. He had to try extra hard to make sure his handwriting was good enough for professors to be able to read what he wrote.

Landon smiled in relief as Mari said she remembered the assignment. "G-Good, I couldn't f-find my notes," he said sheepishly. He had misplaced them somehow, something he did frequently, but he always worked really hard to get good grades on his homework, even if he had to ask others what the assignment was sometimes. "I think that sounds right," he agreed.

"Should I get some books for resources, or are we going to mainly use Hogwarts: A History?" he asked curiously. He didn't want to be pushy, but he personally would love to look at other sources.

Mari nodded after Landon stated that her sister was a Slytherin "Well, I thought so..." She admitted, the little description Landon gave of her sister fit someone in Slytherin (although there were different people there ).

As Mari places her notes in the middle of the table, Landon praises her handwriting "Ah! Thank you! I've had to write like this since I was little, so I got used to it early! And of course, write the assignment if you want!" Mari says with a small smile, proud of her handwriting, she wasn't too surprised that he said that, everyone who saw her handwriting praised her! To be honest, it was really pretty, but Mari would also like to see Landon's.

After Mari answers Landon's question about what the task was, after Mari's confusion about why the question was asked, Landon explains, and Mari then realizes, "Oh, okay! That's fine! I hope you find it, but I think we can do that with mine!" Mari says softly, Landon ends up asking if she would have to do the work with another book, and Mari remembers that she had one stored in the trunk of her dorm, some books, and one of them was history "I have one in my dorm story, the "
Great Magical Events of the 20th Century", Do You Think It Will Work?" Says Mari, she would have bought this book at the beginning of the year because she liked having more than she could, as it could come in handy

Landon laughed a little as Mari said that his sister was a Slytherin. It barely took the Sorting Hat any time to sort Harper and honestly no one in the family had been surprised when she was sorted there. They all had pretty much predicted it from a young age. They didn't think it was a bad thing necessarily, but Harper always knew how to get what she wanted. It was part of why Landon was a little intimidated by her. "I love her but... she's a bit scary sometimes," he admitted.

Landon hummed a little as Mari explained her nice handwriting. "I-I shouldn't write it. My handwriting is r-really bad," he admitted with a sigh. He tried to write neatly, but it only seemed to get worse the harder he tried. He was happy to let her write, if she let him do some other work instead. Landon wasn't a bad student; he wasn't one to slack off and let someone else do all the work. But he knew that their professor would prefer to read neater handwriting.

Landon frowned a little when he admitted that he had lost his notes. He was embarrassed that it appeared he was irresponsible, but he couldn't help that he had misplaced his notes at the moment. "I-I'm sure they are in my dorm somewhere," he said sheepishly. Landon smiled as Mari mentioned another book that could be useful. "It's worth a try," he said. Landon tugged out his copy of Hogwarts: A History and flipped to the beginning pages so that he could contribute to the homework too. "L-Let's start working," he said with a smile. He was happy to work on history homework.

After Mari suggested another book to use, Landon thought it would be better to use that book as another source, "Do you want me to go get it now?" She asked. " I'll be quick... not even 5 minutes if the stairs are good" Mari said jokingly at the end

Landon explains to Mari that he preferred her to write the work and Mari didn't mind, on the contrary, "Of course, I write! And don't worry about the handwriting, I've already met someone with handwriting It's definitely worse! Landon smiled, laughing a little as Mari talked about the stairs. "O-Oh right, I've been late to a class or two because of those stairs," he admitted. Landon didn't like to be late to things but with him being a little scatterbrained about where he put some of his things, he was often a little later than he wanted to be. He was rarely so late that it caused any problems. Landon thought for a moment, unsure of what he should say about whether she should get the book or not. "Maybe, that way we have it if we find we need more research material?" he suggested. He didn't want to be unprepared.

Landon nodded as Mari agreed that her handwriting would be good for their homework. His handwriting was not great, so he wanted to be sure that the professors could easily read their work. Landon sighed as she told him to go get his notes. "Sorry, I swear I'm n-not a bad student. Just disorganized," he admitted. He didn't want her to think she was paired with someone who was unreliable. He got up from his seat and nodded. "Yes, you go get the book and I'll go grab my notes," he said with a smile.

Landon started to head back to the Hufflepuff dorms, still happy with the one he had chosen while a first year. He loved the historical background of the place. Landon quickly dug through the papers on his end table where he had put all of his notes, Landon had his own small room in Hogsmeade House, something he was grateful for. He knew it wasn't that common to have your own space in dorms. Landon smiled as he found the notes he needed and he quickly left the dorms to head back to the Study Room.

Once in the Study Room again, Landon settled down at their worktable and got his notes smoothed out. He was waiting for Mari to return. Landon hadn't packed all of his favorite history books when he came to Hogwarts, but he knew that the one she had to bring to help them was a good one. Landon had read it before, but he didn't have the contents memorized or anything yet.
