Another Year, Another Train Ride
It was the start of Charlie Jacobsen's second year. She was less nervous this time as, well, she had already done it before. This time she decided to arrive early enough that she could get her very own train compartment. Although the first time she had ridden the Hogwarts Express not having her own compartment turned out to be a very good thing. Charlie had met her best friend, [@Ava Winchect], who was literally the only person she hung out with during her first year at Hogwarts. But of course, it had to be a problem as well, when her friend had to leave Hogwarts due to a particularly sticky situation. Charlie never wanted to talk about it, and if anyone asked, she would always shrug off the conversation, or ignore the person asking.
Charlie begged her mum to take her early to the platform, and somehow, she agreed. Her mum was a good mum, but Charlie didn't always get her way, so she was surprised when her mum agreed to take her early. When they arrived at platform 9 3/4, Charlie hugged her mum and little sister goodbye, and promised that she would owl them at some point during the year.
When they were done saying goodbye, Charlie boarded the train and quickly found an empty compartment. She hoped and prayed that her friend Ava would find the compartment, even though there was absolutely zero communication between the two girls about riding to school together. Charlie looked out the compartment window and watched all of the other students saying goodbye to their parents for what could be the first or fifth time. Charlie’s eyes began to get heavy, but she pried them open because she had to wait for Ava. She had to. Time was ticking for Ava to hurry up and find the compartment, but Charlie kept waiting.
Suddenly, the compartment door opened.

With her frizzy hair dancing like a halo of untamed flames, Delilah stood at the platform, ready to embark on her second year at Hogwarts. The sun bathed her in its golden warmth, casting a playful glow upon her mismatched outfit - an alien themed sweater hanging loose on her too-skinny body and a flowing pair of knee-length colorful shorts swaying around her lanky legs. Her appearance, like her spirit, was a charming concoction of the whimsical and the unconventional.
Amidst the bustling crowd of students and parents, her father's warm embrace enveloped her, radiating both strength and love. He held onto her as if he never wanted to let go, his eyes conveying the pride he felt for his daughter. Her mother stood nearby, a tear glistening in the corner of her eye as if her daughter didn't leave the year before. Delilah's unique brand of humor and messiness had always been a source of delight and exasperation for her family, yet that morning, as she prepared to board the Hogwarts Express once again, her absence would be felt more deeply than ever before.
The Hogwarts Express loomed before her, an iconic blend of nostalgia and adventure. Its scarlet engine purred like a slumbering dragon, ready to whisk her away to a world where magic and wonder thrived. With a gulp of both excitement and trepidation, she climbed aboard, her oversized alien-adorned suitcase clunking against the train's floor.
As the train began to chug along, Delilah's thoughts raced back to her first year. A smile crept onto her lips as she remembered the curious encounter with @Rebecca Loops, the boy who had unintentionally become her first friend at Hogwarts. His face had been etched in her memory, his laughter weaving a comforting thread through the tapestry of her magical experiences.
Amidst the sea of bustling students, Delilah found herself swept along like a leaf in a tempestuous wind. After a series of comical mishaps and accidental collisions, she stumbled upon chat seemed like an empty compartment. With an exaggerated sigh of relief, she pushed the door open. "What the Funky Fresh?" she exclaimed, her voice a mix of frustration and anger.
Inside the compartment, her eyes locked onto another girl, around her age, who was already seated. Delilah gave her a nod of acknowledgment, an unspoken greeting exchanged between them. Collapsing onto the bench in front of the girl, she released a deep sigh that seemed to carry the weight of her chaotic journey. Her gaze remained firmly fixed on the other girl's.
"Sweet Mary and Joseph!" Delilah mumbled, her words dripping with a mixture of exhaustion and humor. "You know you're in for a wild ride when getting on a crowded train feels like auditioning for a human Tetris championship!" Her lips curled into a mischievous grin as she leaned forward her eyes still scanning those of the girl, her frizzy hair forming an unruly halo around her head.
"Second Year too ?" She asked in a low whisper.

The girl who barged into the compartment had extremely frizzy blond curly hair, that reminded Charlie of a lions mane. She was wearing some of the most interesting clothes, that were alien themed, with loads of neon colors. Charlie didn't really believe in aliens, but she decided to go with it. If her friend Ava wasn't going to be in her compartment, might as well not ignore the people she would end up with... right?
Charlie and the girl locked eyes, which was awkward, but something that now could not be undone. The girl proceeded to collapse on the other bench in her compartment, which was a little strange, but for some reason did not surprise Charlie. She was wearing alien clothes so, maybe that changed her point of view?
What did shock her was the words that then came out of the strange girl's mouth. Things like Sweet Mary and Joseph and auditioning for a human Tetris championship. Charlie had to clench her teeth to not have her jaw drop in utter shock. She didn't know what to say back to the girl, but thankfully was saved when she asked a question that she could indeed answer. "Yes. Yes I am." Charlie responded in a firm strong voice, that said something like 'I see alien clothes every day!'
After a moment of silence, Charlie realized she did not know the girl's name. "Oh! I'm Charlie Jacobsen, Ravenclaw. What about you?" She said, just as the train pulled away from the station.

@Charlie Jacobsen"Fantastic, an intrepid Ravenclaw!" She proclaimed with theatrical flair, gesticulating like a conductor guiding a symphony of absurdity. "I'm Delilah Chapman, your friendly Gryffindor firecracker."
Delilah leaned against the windowpane of the Hogwarts Express. Outside, the world whizzed by in a blur of colors and shapes. Fields stretched out, their emerald greens and golden yellows waving in greeting to the passing train.
Unable to contain her curiosity and with her playful energy undiminished, Delilah's eyes sparkled with genuine interest as she leaned closer to Charlie. "So, Charlie, are you excited about this second year at Hogwarts ?"
She gave a playful shrug, her expression turning into a mock-serious one. "I have to confess, I'm not exactly jumping out of my seat with enthusiasm for studies and classes." Delilah let out a dramatic sigh. "My priorities are mostly centered around nap time, spontaneous adventures, and the occasional prank."
She leaned back, her grin turning mischievous. "Honestly, if there were a subject on creative napping, I'd be top of the class. I can't say I'm doing well in anything else..."
Delilah's tone then shifted to a more genuine one as she continued, "But you know what I'm really looking forward to? There's this massive tree on the grounds, a towering colossus that I've yet to conquer. The view from the top, oh, it's going to be absolutely splendiferous!"
She punctuated her words with a dramatic flourish of her arms, emphasizing the sheer exhilaration she felt at the prospect. Delilah's creative choice of vocabulary was her trademark, and in her presence, even the most ordinary conversations turned into delightful escapades.

The girl, whose name Charlie did not know quite yet practically screamed theater. The way she talked, described things and the way she moved her body. It was different than whas Charlie was used to, but she just carried on. There was no need to make enemies with someone you were going to be stuck with in a train compartment, was there?
Delilah. Chapman. That was her name. Delilah was a very pretty name in Charlie's opinion. It reminded her of peace with chaos at the same time. And to her own understanding, that was what Delilah was all about. Delilah was a Gryffindor.
After a short pause of silence between the two girls, Delilah asked Charlie a question. She seemed curious about Charlie, and Charlie had absolutely zero plans of holding back, so she answered away. "No. I am not excited for school. Well, I am excited to see one of my good friends, but thats about it." Charlie then learned that Delilah felt about they same way.
"Personally, I invest some time into my studies but with all of the leftover time, I dedicate to spending time outdoors, with my cat Zara, playing the drums and saxophone, running, and with friends. Of course, classes come first, before all of that other stuff."
Delilah began talking about how she enjoyed naps. Charlie couldn't really relate, but her cat Zara could. Zara was one of the best nappers. probably in the world.
Charlie learned that Delilah enjoyed climbing trees. "That's an interesting hobby. Honestly, I think I would fall out of the tree."
"My thing is hockey. Muggle hockey. It is somewhat like Quidditch, but played on ice with no brooms." Charlie announced.
