Frustration and Dinner Shouldn't be Mixed!

Elizabeth stormed in the Great Hall straight to the Ravenclaw table, ignoring the friends from other houses waving to her. She slammed herself on a bench and began to eat.
Potions. Potions? Potions??? How could she fail potions??? Her first day back -- her first day being a second year at Hogwarts -- was a disaster. Oh how could she fail potions? She was going to recieve a howler from Mark, of course, and oh how could she fail potions? She was nearly going to send herself a howler. She plunged her fork with a portion of beef stuck to the end of it into her mouth.
Sure, Elizabeth was attracting a lot of passersby and some attention from the people around her. She glared at them all, fierce looks and sparkles flying out of her blue and green eyes, until they all looked away again and returned to their own buisness. She continued to fume.
She had already shouted at some first years and screamed at some Slytherins on her way to the Great Hall -- she was in a very, very bad mood indeed. On the way here, she wished to find some friends she could get some comfort from, but did not bump into any of them. Furiously, she used her knife, cutting her sandwich visciously.

A red fox wandered through the Great Hall, sniffing around and diving under tables to dodge students left and right. It jumped at the sound of a girl slamming down on a bench at the Ravenclaw table and nearly ran off, but paused, deciding to stay instead. Ears cocked curiously, the vulpine wove under and over the many legs and shoed feet of Ravenclaws before finding the girl who had just sat down and hopping up onto the bench beside her.

The animal regarded her as the girl stuck a piece of beef in her mouth, noting the apparent anger with which she carried out the action. It certainly wasn't normal for someone eating dinner. The fox wasn't the only one watching her, either. Many of her schoolmates were staring, but the girl merely glared at them and continued eating her meal. The fierce look in her heterochromic blue and green eyes was enough to cause even the fox to back down a little, but it remained on the bench beside her nevertheless.

It fixed the girl with a sad look and started to whine quietly before creeping closer and nosing her arm. From out of the corner of its eye, it watched her use her knife to cut her sandwich, hoping she wouldn't turn said knife on it instead.

Frustration and Dinner Shouldn't be Mixed!

Elizabeth was still fuming furiously to herself when she felt sof movement beside her. A creature -- a wolf -- or a fox -- no, it's a red fox -- was staring at her, a sad look in it's eye. What was this?! She started to panick.
Instinct over whelming instinct, she pointed her wand at the red fox. Before it could get away fast enough, she had shouted her best spell, "Tarantallegra!"
In truth, she didn't really know if the spell worked on foxes, especially red foxes. The next second, however, the red fox's feet was dancing uncontrollably, and Elizabeth actually felt a little sorry for the poor creature.
But it was going to hurt her, wasn't it? She was right to defend herself, right? She can't just choose to protect a red fox and have it biting her the next second, could she? But the red fox was there for so long, it could have bitten her then. Still, nobody knows for sure how long it was there, right? Thought swirled her head.
People were looking at them, staring at them, pointing at them. Elizabeth felt the fury she had worked so hard to control over the last several minutes -- or seconds -- take over her again.
"Why on earth are you staring? Mind you own buisness!" she shot at them.

The fox blinked with wide eyes when it suddenly found a wand thrust in its face, appearing confused. Before it even had time to move, however, the girl it had been nosing cast a spell on it. The incantation gave the creature a clue as to what was about to befall it, but it had no means to escape its fate.

Immediately, the fox's legs and paws began to jerk around in imitation of a wild and crazy dance, their owner helpless to do anything to stop it. Its whining increased and it danced about for a bit on the bench before managing to sort of dance-hop onto the floor where it had more space to move. Then it was trying to get onto its hind legs while its front legs continued to flail around in the air. In a matter of moments, though, those flailing paws had transformed into hands and the ones on the ground changed into shoed feet. The red fox had quickly become a young man in a Slytherin uniform right before everyone's staring eyes.

Human or not, though, the teenager was still forced to dance. With an exasperated expression, the redhead reached into the pocket of his robes to pull out his wand and pointed it at his fractious feet. "Finite Incantatem," he said, making the shape of a shield as he incanted the spell. All at once, his feet were able to stop moving and he slumped to his knees, grabbing the bench on his way down for support.

"Wow," he gasped at the Ravenclaw girl, a little out of breath after all that forced dancing. "You're a quick spellcaster. Of all the ways you could have reacted, I certainly hadn't anticipated that."

Percival had been fairly certain today was going to be boring. To be honest, it had been far more boring than he had hoped since his falling out with Hanako. Not that he missed the boy as far as he could throw him. But- well now that he thought about it Hanako was fairly breakable. If he tried hard enough he could probably throw the boy. Maybe off the Astronomy tower. If only they were still talking he would be able to easily lure the other boy up there. Percival held a knife in his right hand and a fork in his other hand. Cutting into the food onto his plate with a lackluster appeal. A part of him imagined it was Hanako he was casually sawing into, and unbeknownst to himself he found himself cutting harsher into the poor steak below his knife.

The boy raised up the piece of meat placing it into his mouth as he looked out amongst the crowded Great Hall. Absentmindedly chewing the boy watched some blond-haired brat walking in a huffy mood. In truth, watching anyone having a bad day brought ease to his mind. It was almost cathartic in a way. Releasing all his frustrations into a sickening joy as he watched anguish on another's face. It seemed he had chosen a good subject to watch as he watched the girl freak out upon seeing a fox. A fox that seemed very familiar.

Percival could barely hold back a snort as he realized his dormmate was currently being accosted by the small bird girl. A girl who seemed to be a first-year, possibly a second-year, which seemed hilarious within itself. He wasn't too sure what his dormmate had been trying to accomplish by approaching the girl. Though, he was fairly certain the girl had little to no experience around animagi. Percival could not stop the loud laugh that escaped his throat, quickly covering his mouth, as he watched his dormmate begin to dance. He guessed there was a first for everything, and he had to say foxes weren't very good dancers. The boy would have attempted to help the other boy if it wasn't for the fact that he didn't actually care that much. Besides, it seemed the red-haired boy had it under control. Instead, the boy would cup his hands around his mouth whistling loudly. The boy smirked boldly at the red-haired boy. "Wow Burnett! Didn't realize you were such a good dancer." he uttered loduly with a grin. "Hey Burnett! Think you can handle that firstie all by yourself?" he asked before slapping his knee at his joke. Percival would take his knife and fork cutting himself another piece of steak. Making it very clear he wasn't keen on moving to stop either of them.

The red fox turned into a human. The boy was a lot taller than Elizabeth was. He was vaguely familiar. So he is an animagus, is he? Elizabeth felt her blood boil a bit.
The boy stopped the spell and, a little out of breath, admired how Elizabeth was a quick spell-caster.
"Why, thank you very much," Elizabeth told the animagus, "A pleasure to meet you" she extended her hand "when you are not a red fox."
Another boy, as tall as the animagus, came and congratulated "Burnett" (that seems to be the animagus' name) being such a good dancer. Elizabeth smirked a bit, that would have taught Burnett a lesson not to spy on people as a red fox. Then the new boy mentioned her as a "firstie".
"Firstie?" Elizabeth spluttered at him, "Hey, I'm this" she first point at her toes then at her head "tall! Who're ya calling a firstie? I'm in second year!"
The boy's words had seemed like jeering not only Burnett but Elizabeth, and she would never have that. He also seemed to be enjoying the "joke". Elizabeth glared at him with her green and blue eyes, wishing he'd apologise. She hissed under her breath so that no one would hear very clearly, "I am a second year and you saying that insulted me. I hated what you said. Apologise.......... please. Now."

Jack smiled when the blond girl thanked him, surprised she wasn't going to bark at him in her anger like she had at everyone else surrounding her just a little while ago. Maybe his praise had pacified her somewhat. "Pleasure's all mine," he said, taking her hand and shaking it when she offered it to him. "Sorry about the fox thing. I learned how to become an animagus over the summer and I haven't much been able to resist being a fox ever since. I should have known better than to startle you, though."

The sound of loud whistling drew Jack's focus as he jerked his head up, searching for the source. It was Percival Rainwood of all people; one of his dormmates. The brunet began to call out to him, addressing him by name and bringing even more attention to him than before. Jack's complexion reddened considerably from his cheeks to his ears in his embarrassment, but he managed to give Percival a sheepish grin back. "Oh, shut up, Rainwood." he said, looking away. "Go back to eating your bloody breakfast."

Unfortunately, the Ravenclaw took offense to Percival's comments and her previous mood seemed to return with a vengeance. Jack sighed. So much for trying to make her feel better. "Don't mind him," the redhead said to the blonde girl, waving a hand in Percival's direction. "He's a bloody idiot when it comes to dealing with people; most people in the Severus Snape Dormitory are. I'm Jack Burnett," he introduced himself. "What's your name?"

Percival cut himself another piece of meat from his steak. Digging the knife harshly into the vulnerable flesh below him. The boy shoved the piece of meat into his mouth glancing back up towards the scene in front of him. Feeling a vicious smile pulled across his face as he realized he had gotten underneath both of the other's respective skins. The boy could not help but feel amused at Burnett's blushing embarrassment. Getting attacked by a second-year was definitely the funniest thing he had seen happen to his dormmate, and he was certain it would be something he would not be able to forget very easily. It's not every day that you see a fox dance aggressively about.

The boy smirked at Jack as he was told to shut up and eat his breakfast. Usually, such words would have set a flame of fire straight to his core. Burning him from the inside out as he attempted to ease it's ire. "Whatever you say, Burnett."He wasn't too sure why the other's words didn't bother him all that much. It probably had to do with the fact that he had just witnessed a hilarious spectacle. Lightening his earlier mood to something light. It was a feeling he had been experiencing less and less often. Most days he felt tied to the heaviness of anger and hurt. Wanting to lash out at every possible thing.

Percival speared a small bite of meat and ate it in a quick motion as he stared down the other boy. As if to confirm to the other he was indeed eating his breakfast. Percival paid little attention to the underclassman's outburst telling him to apologize. As if he would ever fucking apologize to an underclassman. Especially one as whiny and annoying as the blond-haired girl. Besides, he wasn't that far off from her actual grade. In truth, he was surprised she was a second-year. Usually, anyone that annoying was a firstie. Fresh meat to the slaughter. Sheep that hadn't learned the art of being careful around a school filled with wolves. So stupid that they couldn't see the danger they were in. Though that was alright, Percival was well versed in letting them know this school wasn't for weak little sheep. It was almost his duty as an upperclassman to teach them. Percival smirked to himself eating another piece of meat.

Though the girl did not respond to Jack, the fourth year didn't mind too much. He was suddenly distracted by the vicious smile on Percival's face as he looked back at the Slytherin table. The smirk in response to his being told to shut up and eat his breakfast seemed uncharacteristic of the other Snape boy since Jack was sure Percival would have gotten angry at that. Maybe enough other people were irritated that Percival wasn't. It seemed to work that way with the English boy - if someone around him was in a bad moon, he seemed to be in a good one, and vice versa.

Jack watched him eat before turning back to the blonde girl, but she already seemed to have her attention directed elsewhere. Well, at least Percival wouldn't have to apologize to her, he supposed. Shrugging, he shifted back into a fox and disappeared under the tables, rapidly making his way toward where the Slytherin students sat. He followed his nose to the smell of the meat Percival was eating and the scent of Percival himself before hopping up onto the bench and then onto the tabletop. Staring the brunet straight in the eyes, he lowered his head...and grabbed the largest piece of meat on Percival's plate in his jaws, ready to play tug of war if the other boy attempted to keep him from taking it.

As the events of the breakfast seemed to calm down, the boy began paying less and less attention to the girl and Burnett. It seemed the girl had left in a tiff. Not that he really cared. He was no stranger to upsetting those around him, and honestly, he hardly found it within himself to truly care. His eyes focused on his plate as he cut himself more of his food up. Chewing on it in a haphazard manner, clearly bored out of his mind. Meal time had truly lost its appeal after his and Hanako's falling out. The safety that came from knowing that every time he walked through those doors he would be greeted by the other boy's stupid face. Always pretending to not care about him, as if he was a bother, and now... Percival looked forward towards where Hanako was seated. Far away from him. A small glimmer of light in the dark ocean, and now it had been completely extinguished.

A frown pulled its way across his lips, the want to walk up to the other boy was quite strong. So strong that he completely missed Burnett turning back into a fox. Or the fact that the fox was making a beeline straight for him. Percival jumped slightly as he felt the bench shake from side to side. The boy's gaze quickly whipped to his right to see large green carnivorous eyes staring deeply into his dark black eyes. Percival blinked slowly, his surprise hanging clear on his face. His eyebrows furrowed upwards as he watched the animal lower its head. "Hey..." he quietly spoke in a quizzical tone.

"Wait! No! he spoke louder as he watched the sharp jowls of the beast grab onto his precious steak. Percival quickly stood up, almost knocking the bench backward. Garnering a couple of weird looks to be thrown their way. The boy felt his face heat up in annoyance. "Give it back Burnett!" he snapped as he moved to close the distance between them.
